Psalm 79

1 O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

  1. O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake. (Psalms 79:8, 9 KJV)
Im Thankful for The Blood of the Lamb, for His Mercy, Grace, for Salvation, and for the Name that is Above all names…. JESUS!!!

  2. 10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

I once worked with a person that used to dislike me because I was always “Jesus this and Jesus that”… I was always asking Jesus for His help, always thanking Jesus for His goodness. If I lost something I ask Him to help me find it and when I did find it I Praised Him and thanked Him. Well, that person filed a complain against me. I never refrained myself from calling for Jesus Help and thanking Him for His goodness. One day that person asked me “why you always calling for His help? He is too far away to come help you?” My answer was that Jesus is as close or as far as we want Him to be… As a good friend if you talk to Him daily and spend time daily with Him, He will always be one call away; but if we never call Him, never talked to Him, never spent time with Him… again He will always be just one call away. For He never leaves us nor forsake us; it is us that leave Him. I no longer work with this person, but I do know one thing; this person never complain or bother me in regards to my God and I know that this person knows that God will always be one call away in the time of need. Our enemies are watching, listening, it is up to us to show them the way. They too need to know Where are God is? No matter what we are going through, we need to hold steadfast to our faith and our God and let them know How close our God is and How Strong He is and makes us strong through our Faith in HIM.

Now World changers lead the way so the world will know WHERE IS OUR GOD?

  3. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

In the midst of our worst storms we must realize that God is still in control. Jesus is always on the throne. There is none that can dethrone him. Only He is worthy of all honor and all glory.

If we pratice to continue to put Him first, even our worst storms will not be able to totally destroy us. Our worst wounds are able to be healed when we worship Hom.

It will be by our testimony/worship that we are able to reach the region, even the world.

  4. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake

A cry of desperation from the people who had been ravaged and left in the ruins of destruction is evident in this chapter, and yet their cry was deliver us for thy name sake, Oh Lord. They didn’t want their enemies to believe that God was dead, or a false God, not able to deliver them or raise them up, or even take care of them.

I recognize in my own life this is where fear is evident at times. We are afraid to step out in faith and pray for the sick, or speak things of the spirit, because we are fearful in our ownselves that God is not going to come through, and then pride steps in and says we will be made fun of if God doesn’t heal, or raise up, or deliver.

We must lay aside that spirit of pride, and learn to let God be God. If God doesn’t heal or deliver, it’s His business and not our responsibility. All we are required to do is be obedient to His Spirit and His Word, so that His name is praised and glorified in all the earth.

  5. ILove to eat the book

4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

I once had a co-worker that did not want me to pray over my food at lunch.

One day I prayed over my food and he looked at me and said,”did you know that offends me!”. I said ” I’m going to pray over my food bro.” He said he didn’t believe in God…

Their will always be those around us that scorn, threaten, hate, and dislike us. But we can’t allow ourselves to get bitter. We must pray for them to escape the wrath of God…for it is coming.

  6. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

I will praise continuously. Thy name will be upon my lips. You will be lifted higher. I WILL bless The Lord at all times.

You know, I grew up in church, just not this one. It is strange some if the things that have happened. When I have had some tremendous days, I bless The Lord. When I have great days I bless The Lord. It might be strange for others this blessing on the good and the bad, but that is the way it us AMEN. ThAt is the way my children are growing up in this church AMEN. I WILL BLES THE LORD AT ALL TIMES!

  7. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

Sin separates us from God. To describe how God views sin is to describe the nastiest, stinkiest, foul, disgusting, putrid, vile, horrid, and dirty thing imaginable.

Sin is the opposite of God’s character, his holiness, and his purity. It makes him want to vomit, and is the hated adversary.

Sin is more than an infraction, and missing the mark. The truth is we could never clean ourselves, wash ourselves, or deliver ourselves from its wretched grasp.

But the name of Jesus applied to our lives covers sin. It remits sin. It washes, and removes sin. It brings us back to fellowship with our creator. His name’s sake is the reason.

I’m thankful for the cleansing healing saving delivering power of the blood and the name of Jesus!

  8. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

We can learn so much from David – like how to repent and ask God for help.

  9. Vs 9 It is through the name of Jesus that we are saved. There is joy in heaven when even one sinner repents. There is power in the name of Jesus.

  10. 6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

Do we really know him? What does our priority list look like?

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

29 For he taught them as [one] having authority, and not as the scribes.

If we know him we will have authority and exersize it.

  11. Psalm 79:5,6,7.NIV
How long O LORD?will you be angry forever?
How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms
That do not call on your name.
    ——-
Ok, we remember Moises and the rod he used for the wonders( the judgment of GOD ) to happen…..
These people is in distress, they feel like GOD IS NOT on their behalf, they thin God is not doing anything about it, instead they are just being prideful and else….
Sometimes is not that God is not doing anything, GOD wants to at least see us try, we have what we need, we just don’t see it most of the time…..
We have faith, his word, but faith without works is dead, just like a solder without his weapon is not good.
I see pain, sorrow, distress but we need to do our part. I agree with sis watts, sometimes is pride and fear that would stop us to do our part, we seem to forget that it’s GODS WILL FOR US TO JUMP IN AND HE WILL DO THE REST.
    Anyways…..

  12. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

    HALELUJAH !!!

  13. O Lord, let me be VICTORIOUS in my afflictions.
I want to have the Best fruits.
    THANK YOU FOR YOUR FORGIVENESS.
    JOHN 5:44~47 (KJV)
44 How can ye believe, which recieve honour one of another; and seek not the honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

if someone hurts you, turn the other cheek and love them and the problem will work out fine.
DONT LIVE OR GO BY YOUR EMOTIONS.
    Pray
ask God for forgiveness and be Happy.

(this helped me today~ thank you Jesus).

  14. 1 O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

This chapter is a deep cry for help. The enemy has invaded the people of God and they are looking for God bring vengeance.

The only invasion i want to be apart of is us invading Satans camp to take our city, family, and friends; by force.

  15. We are your people, the sheep of your flock. We will thank you always; forever and ever we will praise you. (Psalms 79:13 NCV)

Thankful to be counted as part of the flock. No place I’d rather be.

For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness. (Psalm 84:10 AMP)

  16. PURE MOTIVE FROM A PURE HEART

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

For many of us seeking GOD was an all out cry for help and mercy, during which we stretched the grace of GOD toward us. While for me it was over 24 years ago, I remember it vividly today. The realization and recognition of a sinful heart and evil desires, I desired greatly to escape for my own salvation and good.

Here we read from a faithful servants heart in regards to the advancement of the Kingdom of GOD and Praise to the gracious deliverer. Where most people find frustration in life is when there is a snare of sin that is covered up and hidden, instead of facing the sin, confronting the sin, confessing the sin, and forsaking the sin. This attitude produces an impure heart. This is the position that most people cry out to GOD from. With a motive to protect our reputation and not regard the reputation of our great GOD, Jesus the Christ!

As we align our heart with GOD, we will align our motive with GOD. As we Rejoice and Praise GOD we ELEVATE our GOD and draw attention to HIM. We pray for the LORD to move mountains, deliver us from hardships, trouble and sin we find ourselves at a crossroad of motive.

Do we want help to protect our name or do we want help to protect HIS name?

This all hinges on the condition of our heart. Is it PURE in the sight of GOD or is there hidden sin?

LORD JESUS I Praise your Holy name and thank you for protection, healing and deliverance. I thank you today for delivering the captives of deception, false doctrine, drugs, alcohol, rebellion, gossip, pride, complaining, thieves and robbers, backsliders and the faithless or any other transgression.

I pledge to PRAISE your great name JESUS for setting these captives free and that your name JESUS will be exalted as bring backsliders home to your house (the fathers house) and as we witness you fill 100 people with the Holy Ghost in the month of March. In JESUS name!

    iPraise
    iPray

    NOW

  17. I wonder if God would have moved faster to the petitions of David for forgiveness had he asked God to forgive his persecutors. A very hard lesson to learn is total forgiveness. The ability to be like Jesus hanging on the cross; “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”. Sometimes, we may speak the words “I forgive” all the while thinking, “you’ll get yours one day”. This may make us feel better but I don’t believe it is where the Lord wants our hearts to be.

It hit me in these versus how David asked the Lord to punish; “6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen… and again in verse 12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold.” Could the answer of his own forgiveness and deliverance be delayed due to the hardness of his heart?

  18. Verses 11-13 MSG read “Give groaning prisoners a hearing; pardon those on death row from their doom—you can do it! Give our jeering neighbors what they’ve got coming to them; let their God-taunts boomerang and knock them flat. Then we, your people, the ones you love and care for, will thank you over and over and over. We’ll tell everyone we meet how wonderful you are, how praiseworthy you are!” I got a mental picture of the devil being knocked down flat with a boomerang.

boomerang: something, as a scheme or argument, that does injury to the originator.

If things are being flung around at you, get out of the way and let God take care of it. Our job, praise his wonderful name!

  19. v13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever; we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

The same GOD who escorted the characters of old tthrough their trails and trrobles is still the GOD that is with us; and will help us.
HE is our strength and our comfort.
Praise GOD! HE IS our endless resource
Whatever you need today GOD has it for you.

    iPray
    iPraise
    iGive thanks
    NOW

  20. 12 Return sevenfold into the lap of our neighbors the taunts with which they have taunted you, O Lord! 13 But we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise. ESV

I guess this is/was the hardest part for me is to pray for the ones that have hurt me or my family. My thought was Lord you want me to pray for the one that is causing me grief. Then this verse comes to mind Bless them that curse you, and pray for them who despitefully use you. Luke 6:28.
Praying for the ones that have hurt us is a challenge but you take route against the flesh, nobody knows you are doing it except God, your heart could break when God answers that prayer and truly blesses them like they have never sinned. It is not a question if we should pray for the ones that have ought against but it is a command. Although, however I don’t feel that we have to go have dinner with the ones that are causing us grief to get kicked in the head every time we are around them. I was dealing with a situation one time with family about this and thought I was in the wrong cause I didn’t go around them and hang with them. It bothered me so I went to Pastor and he gave me this verse and it has stuck with me Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
That don’t mean go around talking about them pray for them and let God handle the situtation. That way you are in the clear and if they keep talking or hurting you they have to answer to God.

  21. This chapter illustrates state. Their reproach was carnal and visible to the natural eye, as such they repented; “O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low”. Whereas ones reproach today, which is just as real maybe invisible to the natural eye; “We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us”. Therefore one must be all the more diligent in seeking God (Jesus) in prayer and repentance today (NOW); “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  22. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

No one can do it on their own, we all need help and the perfect person to help us is God.

  23. 5 How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

WE serve a jealious God, the One who wants our undivided attention.

  24. In this scripture, it is an apparent result of man’s fallen state, in sin, and the weakness of the flesh. But, their is only one hope in our Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness or redemption. We all know, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sins, and washes them white as snow. But, we still don’t even want the remembrance of that sin, nor the consciousness or sting of that sin. As far as the East is from the West, we want God to cast them from us, into depth of the sea. God grant us the strength to always overcome. It is Written, “more than conqueror in him, whom loves us”, also “we can do all things through Christ who strenghtens us”, and “My grace is sufficient, my strength perfected in weakness.” “We are no longer slaves to sin, but Sons of God”.

“Purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake”……………

For I will, be doing vs. 13, it is an honor to Praise the King………

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

    “Now”…………

  25. Asaph lamenys over a devastating invasion of Jerusalem and begs God to drliver his peopleby judging there hostile neighbors when God acts his people will praise him forever

  26. 4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

The world doesn’t understand us, they never will. John 3:6 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” the world will blame us, will forsake us, they will hate us. the devil will use family and friends and strangers (THE WORLD) to try to bring us down and kill us. but We will always overcome!!! Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” I am glad to serve The Almighty! When the entire world comes against us we will still stand strong on the rock that is Jesus Christ! Thank you God for making us to be victorious, to be overcomers. HALELUJAH!! 😀

  27. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation! 9 Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name. (NLT)

13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation. (NLT)

  28. Times in our lives we cry out for help to the Lord of Lord, King of Kings and we wonder if God hears our cry. This chapter shows how God allowed blood to shed in Jerusalem, the enemy thinks he got away with destroying and killing people for no reason, the rude awakening begins with God shows his mighty powers and protects his people from slaughtering.

Appears the enemy is looking for confrontation, trying to prove who is mightier and who can do more between him and God.

God tests the faith of those who worship him. God always has a plan, he doesn’t forget his people, assuming he is angry may not be the case, he will protrect you and deliver you from the enemy when he is ready and on his time. Your prayers will be heard, bless his holy name and allow God to access your heart and soul.

  29. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Praise The Lord for his word.

  30. 11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

A call for help/restoration/deliverance an giants the enemies. God’s name is exalted as the psalmist calls on God to step into the situation. Describes how they are treated, pretty much saying, Lord they have done wrong to us, your children…repay them according to their wicked ways. There will be those that don’t like us, there will be those that mock us, and those that despise us for His name sake, and for His name sake, bucks use we put our trust in Him and letting Him fight the battle, then can we sing praises unto Him because we know He will take care of them.

  31. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

The fruit of sin (death) brings about a stark reminder of our soul’s longing for God. The pain of loss and the threat of overwhelming/overcoming loss drives us to flee the suffering and find refuge. God is our balm in Gilead, and we find in Him a place of refuge in the process of repentance.

The decision to repent can be immediate, but follow-through can be quite a process. In fact, one could say the entire life of a Christian is the process of repenting, otherwise known as the process of holiness. Our trust should be in Him and His mercy, not in things of this world to deaden the sting of sin or take the place of the wonder of His love. At our low points, we should have ingrained within us something that screams “I must get to Jesus!”

We are blessed to know Him, and to know He is the answer and only hope of humanity. We should daily strive to cast ourselves to Him and forsake evil, and likewise pray for those who have fallen away to get that revelation of His love and salvation again. The way of holiness has many casualties but it need not be so. God made the way for us, we must choose to walk in it and bring as many others as we can.

  32. Exile

The attack and destruction reffered to in this psalm is most likely the Babylonian invasion of 586 B.C. (Ki 25:8-11). Many Jews are killed and hundreds are deported by the conquering King Nebuchadnezzar, who also steals sacred temple vessles and valuable palace treasures and set fire to Jerusalem (2Ch 36:18-19). A new temple isn’t complete until 70 years later (Ezr 6:5) , as God’s people pay the high price of treason (nonrepentance) in exile and death for their sin. The person who wrote this psalm is ascribed to Asaph, but surely was penned by a descendant of this musician from the time of David.

  33. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

This should be our prayer before God. Lord purge away our sins.

  34. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

If you can’t praise Him NOW then how do you expect the generations under you to praise?
