Psalm 98

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

  1. O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. (Psalms 98:1 KJV)

Right Hand hath gotten him victory. I believe it stated the right from the left for a reason. So I did some studying and found these:

    Exodus 15:6
Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

His right hand dashes the enemy in pieces!

    Psalm 16:8
I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

His right arm shall not be moved.

    Psalm 118:16
The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.

Valiantly means determination or showing courage.

    His right hand;
    Has gotten him victory
    Dashes the enemy in pieces
    Shall not be moved
    Is exalted and valiantly

Just to think this is just the right hand. The Lord is so mighty. Praise The Lord!

  2. 1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

    A new song

Every morning we should have a new song of praise to sing to our Lord. He is worthy!

  3. ILove the Book

Some denominations don’t believe in musical instruments…some believe we should be quiet…

As for our church…WE BELIEVE THE WORD

4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

  4. 4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

No matter what is going on in my life there is something I know for sure, as long as I keep praising Him, His Joy will keep coming over, and over, and over again. I rejoice for His Mercy endureth for ever. I rejoice for there is no one like my God. I rejoice for I was made to praise Him and once we recognize the purpose of our lives and we do it our lives are fulfilled and full of His love and JOY. For those of you who think you can not carry a tune, the word says NOISE, noise might not have a tune but it has a purpose, to PRAISE HIM. HALLELUJAH!!!!!!

  5. 2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

Because He allowed His righteousness to be openly displayed to this former heathen, I have a chance of salvation. It will only be because of us displaying His righteousness that others will get to know of salvation too..

  6. God will have a people to praise Him.
I will love the Lord always and He is worthy of His goodness and praise so why not praise Him?
praise Him with a new song.
You (Jesus) are great and greatly to be PRAISED!!!!

    JESUS, YOU ARE NOW!

  7. 2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

The Lord did not need help with salvation. He himself made salvation and that will not change. The Lord grants salvation. We can only lead people to the salvation if The Lord. The person must choose to trust The Lord and receive their salvation.

  8. Created to Worship

7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

There is a difference between praise and worship. We declare that God is worthy, and open our mouths in awe, and adoration when we worship.

The leaves on the trees rustle in praise to God. The wind whistles in praise to God. The birds sing praise to God. The waves splash in praise to God. All of creation declares the awesome glory, and majesty of the King, but we get to go the step beyond that and cry out in worship.

We have been redeemed, delivered, set free, and made new. He came as a human being and died for our sins! He never became a tree, wave, or bird but the word was made flesh and dwelt among us!

How worthy are you holy God!

He could have left us in the mess we were in, but instead gave us mercy, love, and grace!

    Romans 5:8-11
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

There should be so much joy bubbling over because of what God has done for us.

  9. Vs.4-8, “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noice before the Lord, the King. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together.”

God wants ALL creation to paise and worship Him.

  10. FRESH PRAISE

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

Sing a NEW song, there are many songs that for over 24 years have been a BLESSING to my soul. I have found that “New Seasons” bring “New Songs”. When I hear a certain song it reminds of the season of my life that it was “my song”. God has done many marvelous things in my life and every single one of them have birthed a new song in my spirit.

Likewise every time the LORD shows himself mighty in salvation by his hand of deliverance and the outpouring of hte Holy Ghost, it gives me a Fresh Praise at the New Birth of a soul for HIS Kingdom.

    We are commanded to:

4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

When we sing, praise, shout, rejoice we make known to all the host of heaven and earth who our GOD is.

    His name is JESUS!

Praise HIS great name today in song. If there is not a song that you know that describes where you are, you have the Spirit of GOD in you to write one! In a melodious voice begin to thank HIM for who HE is and what he has done in the season of your life and you will have a “new song”.

His salvation can be found! He didnt hide it or make it hard to find. He placed it in the midst of our troubles and in the midst of our shortcomings. He is shuch a merciful God that he would exept us into his slvation out of the heathen.

7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

We were created to worship the Lord !!To sing praise unto Him,even His other creations have their way of worshiping their Creator. The birds, the wind, the trees…we can all see or here the worship of his creation.

We need to always be doing what we were put here for, praising and obeying His Holy Word .God did not give us His word as a book of suggestions, to do if we want to but it is a road map to follow everyday,If we quit reading the road map ,then we become lost on the many roads that the devil will put out in front of us.We must turn around and find the old landmark and get back on the path that God will lead us to ,in repentence, and start following the road map again, and let the man of God that the Lord has gave us,help guide us in the things we need to do to always be on the right path!Thank you Bro.and Sis. Watts for your guidence.

Victory is our song of praise and worship.
Our victory is in the LORD. We win!

5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

  18. This chapter illustrates triumph. They worshiped God for their triumphs. One today (Now) can also be victorious through Jesus; “O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  19. O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

I have a song un heart and a praise on my lips. Ee serve a victorious God!

  20. 4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

If you woke up this morning you have a great reason to make a joyful noise. That there are problems and situation that worry that you cannot do anything about…make a joyful noise. It is a great thing to know that the Lord is God and I am not. That sometimes its as simple as lifting up a praise letting everything in His hands and say thank you God; thank you Lord you are awesome. Thank you for life this morning. Thank you for the food on my table. Thank you for the clothes that I wear, the job that I have. You are great. I don’t know how to do this or how am I gonna come our of this one, but I know you are God! Hallelujah! Blessed be the name of the Lord, you can have my worries, you can have my troubles because you are God alone!! I trust in you’

  21. The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness has He openly shown in the sight of the nations. (Psalm 98:2 AMP)

This verse is screaming from my heart. He has shown his salvation and his righousness openly in last nights service… I could never repay him for what he did in just moments. What would have taken me years and probably caused pain to myself and others My Lord did it in just moments.

Lord you are the love of my life. And the source of my joy. My heart is overwhelmed with gladness every time I meditate on you goodness and mercy. You truly make my heart skip a beat.

  22. 4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

I have a roof over my head, food on my table, my health and the list goes on and on and on. So I have something to praise God for I’m breathing and my family is healthy.

  23. So, lets make some noise…..”Joyful that is!” Let’s make them hear us! A new song with alot of joy!

    “Now”

  24. The Psalmist again proclaims a new song God has worked including salvation and nature joins the chorus of the saved acclaiming God when he comes to judge the world.

  25. 1 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
2 The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

God is so worthy of all the praise!!

  26. No matter what is going on around us The Lord knows everything and rejoice inspite of things we don’t understand..God is good ALL the time!

  27. In all things give thanks. I have had the opprotunity to hear such great sounds. The sounds of water rush through the bend of a river, a water fall 25 feet tall, the light show of an electrical storm with the sound of the air hitting to make thunder, and the clap of millions of water dropplets hitting the ground and the season of rain. So shall we do also, as the earth sings praises. Let us make a joyiful noise unto the Creator of all.

  28. God’s Hand and Arm
    Vs1

Reference to God’s “hand” and “arm” are abundant in the OT, paying tribute to the Lord’s mighty acts, his loving protection, authority, guidance and correction. Repeatedly, credit for victory is given not to God’s people, but to the strong “right hand” o fthe Lord (Ex 15:6; Ps 17:7). His right hand is “filled with righteousness” (Ps 48:10) ; his right hand takes hold of his enemies (Ps 21:8); he uses his right hand to “spread out the heavens” (Isa 48:13); his hand holds the scepter of his divine rule (Ps 110:2; Rev 19:15). In the final day, the while earth will see his triumph when he bares his “holy arm,” revealing fully the might of his power (Isa 52:10).

    • 3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

For my eyes have seen your salvation -Luke 2:30

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. -Titus 2:11

Thank God for his salvation, that has appeared unto me in the face of Jesus Christ.

  29. 1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

When things aren’t going your way…sing unto the Lord a new song…when family and friends start talking behind your back…sing unto the Lord a new song…..when you feel like you’ve come to edge of the cliff and the only thing you see is down…sing unto the Lord a new song.

  30. Everything and everyone was created to “sing praises unto the Lord.” Everything but man does this naturally, man however was given the power of choice and free will. I choose to sing praises unto the Lord. It should become our nature that everything we do should give praise and glory to the Lord. For He has done marvelous things!

  31. 9 Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

The Lord is my rock and my salvation whom I trust. He will judge us with fairness. Lord I worship you. I bless your Holy name NOW and forever.
    Have mercy on my soul.

  32. 3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

For my eyes have seen your salvation -Luke 2:30

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. -Titus 2:11

Thank God for his salvation, that has appeared unto me in the face of Jesus Christ.

  33. This chapter talks about worship and praise to God… It talks about insruments of music that we can use to glorify God and lift him up. As a worshiper and musician I am thankul that God allows us to worship him in unique ways.

  34. In The Day Of Judgement

4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

9 Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

There is a picture of rejoicing here that may feel out of place; Israel is exhorted to rejoice because of judgement, something that may cause one to do a double-take. The idea of judgement can seem intimidating, not joy-provoking, so what exactly is going on here?

    1 John 4:16-19 KJV

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

    1 John 4:16-19 NLT

16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.

18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

19 We love each other because he loved us first.

Dwelling in God and God in us changes us; it is the catalyst to the process of instilling perfect love into our lives, which casts out fear. Judgement should not be a thing of fear for us. Walking in the Holy Ghost means walking in love, which means walking in relationship. Fear of judgement seems twofold, including not simply fear because we believe we are left with uncovered sins to be judged but also fear because of a lack of relationship.

I know what it’s like to feel like a prodigal who has returned home and is forgiven, yet instead of receiving a party, is left out on the front porch, only getting to look in through the windows at the family within. Shame san say “yeah you’re forgiven, but you’re not accepted.” Think about it, has someone ever hurt you and even though you’ve let go of the debt of what they’ve done, you’re hesitant to let them back in because the damage done to the relationship left wounds that still hurt? Forgiveness says “I open my arms to you” but the pain says “but don’t touch me, those arms are still in casts!”

Is this not the sort of image we sometimes project onto God? Yet His love still reaches for us. I think of the wording of “perfect love.” Perfect: complete, whole. Jesus was crucified, yet perfect love overcame death. No matter how deep the wounds, perfect love can overcome if we let it. Our hesitation in “coming into the house” lies not in God’s acceptance of us but in our acceptance of His love; the thing about it is that our sin hurts us, and after forgiveness, we need healing. When we don’t allow God’s perfect love to overflow into our lives, we deny the healing of wounds left by the sin and get left with the torment of fear.

And when we choose to stay out on the porch, we are unable to love others in the church properly and we sure can’t love the lost properly, nor can we truly lead them to God because all we can do is get them to the house but we can’t lead them to the Father. Remember the prodigal son? His journey home was not to see the father so much as it was to regain the covering of the house; he came with the intent of not restoring relationship with the father, only restoring a measure of covering to meet his basic needs.

Something else in that passage in 1 John 4 jumped out at me: v17 talks about *our* love being made perfect. Perfect love flows from God, and v17 speaks of that love being manifest in us through grace and the process of holiness. Love is not stagnant, but active, and v18 gives an application: “perfect love casteth out fear.” I believe v18 describes a key point that when we are walking perfect in love, we can be used to cast out fear, even in others, by God moving through us.

When we speak to the lost, can they feel God? Or do they have to wait until they come to church to encounter His presence?

Do we carry perfect Love with us?

If someone came up to us racked with anxiety, would we have enough Holy Ghost for God’s love to meet them in their place of need and minister peace?

God carries the title “Prince of peace;” do our lives command peace as through that perfect love that casts out fear? Do we have dominion over fear? Victory over that gospel of death the enemy preaches?

The greek word for “judgement” is where we get our word “crisis.” Perfect love means not fearing in the day of crisis, having peace not matter the circumstances and boldness concerning the outcome. Having that perfect peace means rejoicing even in judgement.

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Jesus has conquered, even over our sin. We can rejoice in judgement not because we have never been guilty but because His blood covers us and His love makes us whole and judgement means bringing Him glory. Our lives sing the new song of salvation, praising Him and revealing His perfect love in the day of judgement. And not only judgement at the end of our lives, but in the time of crisis now. As He is NOW, so can we be NOW in this world. He is victorious, He is not afraid, He is full of peace, He is love…

What a beautiful day that will be, when all the saints gather not on “heaven’s porch” but around the throne, singing that beautiful song of salvation that the angels cannot sing, having captured the picture of perfect love for all eternity. When we pass those pearly gates and join our Lord for all eternity, we proclaim forever that He is Jesus, He is Salvation, by showing His perfect love in the day of judgement.

But we don’t need to wait, NOW is the time to walk in perfect love

  35. 4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. 5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp ; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

  36. Verse 5 MSG “Round up an orchestra to play for God, Add on a hundred-voice choir.” Did someone say “hundred”? Praise God.
