Psalm 101

1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord.

  1. LORD…I will obey You.
LORD…THANK YOU…For Your Grace and mercy. I will stay my distance and not let the wicked influence me and my house…It is where You are for me.Thank you Lord for Your kindness that I see thru me in the Holy Ghost.
    ifollow You…Jesus… Now.

    LUKE 1:74
That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear.

  2. Strive to achieve Perfection.

2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

Are we perfect? NO! Do we need to strive for perfection? YES!!! Here is your proof. I might not be perfect but I am going to behave as if I was. In everything and all I do, I will do it as if it is to the Lord, so I will give Him my very best.

  3. My eyes shall [look with favor] upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; he who walks blamelessly, he shall minister to me. He who works deceit shall not dwell in my house; he who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. (Psalm 101:6, 7 AMP)

This passage tells me we should be very careful who we give access into our lives. We must search for the fruit that one is producing. That is the only way we can fully know.

Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves. You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Therefore, you will fully know them by their fruits. (Matthew 7:15, 16, 20 AMP)

  4. 8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord.

We too have to get such a determination about being righteous that we have our hearts set in His ways, that we not slip ….

The word tells us to hate the very appearance of evil, so why are so many people of the church so tolerant of it???

  5. Get behind me Satan!
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

    slandereth his neighbour
    high look
    proud heart
    worketh deceit
    telleth lies
all the wicked of the land
    all wicked doers

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. (Matthew 16:23 KJV)

But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. (Mark 8:33 KJV)

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Luke 4:8 KJV)

Every now and then these people may sneak up on you. These are the people who ravenously destroy those around them. We should be ever watching. We should be ever vigilant about those around us so that the people of God remain under God’s wing instead of torn to peices by wolves.

6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

  6. 4. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

    (KJV)Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

When our hearts are not wicked, we don’t desire to be around others who are wicked.

  7. Striving for Perfection
Pastor was just teaching on how we are not perfect and god doesn’t expect us to be perfect but he does expect us to strive for perfection. The example was given last night if you order something and its delivered to you messed up you send it back and let them try again. The purpose is when you receive what you have bought it comes to you the way you invisioned it, the way you created it in your mind. When you go to a restaurant and you order a plate of food because it looks so good on the menu and it gets to the table and it doesn’t even look simular to the picture, most of us would send it back, or be very disappointed in what we received. Thanks be to a gracious God that allowes us to come to repentance. Through repentance we are able to present our selfs perfect to him because all of our sins are cast in a sea of forgetfulness. Hallelujah! He can’t remember all the terrible things I’ve done. Therefore I am perfect in his eyes. He created us in his perfect image and he expects us to be perfect when he recieves us. The life style of repentance that pastor preached on last night keeps us exceptibale. This scripture also shows us that we have to guard our holiness. We will have to fight to keep all the things and people away from us that would challenge our faithfullness in perfection. Perfection is not easy but it’s worth the reward let us fight for the perfect will of god and see his glory.

  8. HABLA PAPA!!! HALELUJAH !!!

    Proverbs 15:3 (KJV)
3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

    Psalm 34:15-16 (KJV)
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

    Proverbs 22:12 (NIV)
The Eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge, but He frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
Do we not know that HE ALSO Hears and HE KNOWS EVERYTHING……….
    Psalm 139:4 (NLV)
4 Even before I speak a word, O Lord, You know it all.
    Psalm 139:4 (KJV)
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
    1 Peter 3:12 (KJV)
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
OOOOO LORD HELP ME JESUS……. I NEED THEE , THEE OOOO I NEED THEE OOOOO BLESS ME now MY SAVIOUR …….. SANTO SANTO SANTO ERES SEÑOR!!! WOW NUESTRO SEÑOR ES TRES VECES SANTO!!! GOD does HEAR ………

  9. This whole chapter screams to me to be mindful of who we let into our lives. Who we allow to be close.

1corinthians 15:33 Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. (Amp)

We are called to be a separate and holy people because we wear the holiest of names on our life.

Leviticus 20:26 And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

    Leviticus 10:10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

As Christians we are to be lights to this world, lights that direct others to the cross. Light cannot compromise with darkness, it’s impossible! Where light is darkness has to flee. God separated the light from dark in the beginning, we can’t undo that separation physically or spiritually. We live in this world but we are not of the world. As we reach into hell fire to impact this city we each need to be aware of who is being influenced. Am I influencing them to Christ, the cross, and life eternal? Or is the lost and missing influencing me to carnality, darkness, and inevitably death? The fruit in our lives will let us and others know.

Each day we should pray up and equip ourselves with the armor of God and be aware of things, people, attempts from the enemy to turn us astray. I want to be a part of the church that impacts the world, not be influenced by the world and hurt the church.

  10. Psalms 101:3
I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes:
I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

This is an amazing statement with profound implications. David is saying that wicked evil things can cleave to us if we simply choose to look at it.

The word cleave is the same word as in

    Genesis 2:24
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:and they shall be one flesh.

By the seemingly insignificant act of watching wickedness, evil, worldliness, or anything contrary to the character of God we can potentially enter into the bonds of an unholy matrimony.

On the contrary if we choose to set Godly, righteous, holy things before us we will cleave unto them, and grow closer to God.

    We are what we see

  11. v1 I will song of mercy and judgement: unto the, O LORD,will I sing.

Not only should we praise GOD vocally, but we should praise HIM physically.
Present our bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to GOD.
Without HIM we could do nothing. All of our blessing come from HIM. If we will serve HIM humbly , give HIM the GLORY in ALL things and trust HIM … HE will reward us.

” Humble yourself therefore under the mighty
hand of GOD, that he may exalt you in due time:” 1 Peter 5:6
    iHumble
    iPray
iPraise and Worship with my all
    Now

  12. what I got out of this message is… That to many people are entering the church for the wrong reasons. Some come to divide what God has made a whole. They may look holy on the outside but can be corrupt and ugly on the inside. If we stop and look who and what they are really doing ,its not the works of God … its to tear us apart as a one and divide the works of God.. We all need to stop trying to be better than the other and except that we are all the same ….WE all are sinners and we all need the LORD. So , why is it we try to tear down a persons self. Is it to gain friends … to be popular….to think we’re better than the other. We shouldnt go to church to be any one of those, we should go to church to learn about or LORD JESUS CHRIST ,to be one with the one who gave us life. We should love one another and to ALWAYS respect the house of the LORD. If there is UNITY there is peace and power! As the body of christ we are to participate with the head(JESUS) in reaching the lost. IF there is no UNITY there is NO home and NO CHURCH. If there is division our church will fall.

  13. Psalm 100:2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way.O when will thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

    This is the answer
    ( the key) for us:
    /////// INTEGRITY /////////
And it just doesn’t happen, first; We have to desire it, have to purposely be determint that integrity is the way.i want my thoughts,my actions, motives, words…to be peasant to GOD always.
We have to make hundreds of choices daily, but if our desire is to please GOD, that means we would be trying our best to do the right thing.
David show us a pretty long list of the things that he knew he was going to face, and he had to be very determint on what he said he was going to do.
    ( A MAN AFTER GOD’S HEART)
It’s not easy, but : I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength .
After were created in his image …….
That shoul be the fruit of our being……

    INTEGRITY ! ( a pure heart, an honest heart, a clean heart,a faithful heart…..)
——- I will not become like them!
(the world) Instead I will be more and more like Christ …!
    In Jesus name. AMEN!

  14. AMEN ITS HARD TO STAY AWAY WHEN ITS SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU BUT we can not do what they do.
    Amen and Amen sister.

  15. This chapter illustrates abstinence. A vow was made to abstain from evil and entreat goodness. One is wise to flee from wickedness and pursue after God, for whichever one entreats in one’s life will grow; “Abstain from all appearance of evil”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. The greatest hope for our church/world is to have a realationship with Jesus.Christ that is built on the foundation of faith.

  17. INVEST YOUR TIME WISELY

4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

TIME is the reichest resource GOD has allowed man to manage. Most people do not even know what time it is; much less how they spend or invest their time. GOD is fair and TIME is distributed in equality, no person gets more or less TIME in a day. We are all stewards over the same amount. However we all INVEST our TIME differently.

The TIME we invest in ourselves, in our relationship with GOD, and in others is so important and we are wise to keep an accurate account so that we do not overspend in any area of TIME other than in our relationship with GOD.

In this chapter we learn of David’s commitments of TIME in his personal relationships. It is simple to compute.

If the majority of your time is spent with carnal, negative, wicked people; then our nature, attitude and lifestyle will be influenced by the TIME invested in those conditions.

    FROWARD – 6141. ik-kashe´; distorted; hence, false:—crooked, froward, perverse.

David said I will put away from me anyone with an impure heart. We can tell what is in a persons heart by what they talk about.

    JESUS said:
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

People need to GO away that have distorted, crooked or false desires, motives or actions.

KNOW – 3045. yaw-dah´ – the word indicates various levels of relationship to another; from respect, to association, to relationship.

WICKED – 7451. rah; bad or (as noun) evil (natural or moral):—adversity, affliction, bad, calamity.

David is illustrating for us; How To INVEST YOUR TIME WISELY.

It is HARD for me to comprehend that everyone does not really desire to “Live for GOD”, however this is a fact that only TIME and CHOICES can decide. I chose years ago to WISELY INVEST MY TIME with people that are traveling TOWARD the CROSS.

“Come to REPENTANCE”, people are either looking toward the world or looking toward the CROSS. Our attitude, conversation and actions determine which direction we are LOOKING.

People invest TIME in so much; video games, movies, tv, social media, sports, entertainment, work, idleness, and so on. These in and of themselves are not all death to our Spiritual man; however an imbalance in THE INVESTMENT of OUR TIME could be deadly to the Spiritual man.

The BEST INVESTMENT of TIME is in The Kingdom of GOD. We are BORN AGAIN into HIS Kingdom and our citizenship is in heaven, we should; live, love, speak, and act like HIM and that means as the Apostle Paul stated.

1Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Do not spend all night playing video games or watching tv/movies and not have an all night prayer meeting. Don’t spend hundreds of dollars on entertainment and then not be willing to give to Missions. Don’t spend hours “hanging out” and then not go to outreach in your own city.

We MUST develop our own “self accountability” system:

2Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

    iPraise JESUS
    iPray for the lost
    iWork for HIS Kingdom
    iGive my time wisely
    iReap abundantly

    NOW is the TIME

    • ILove to eat the Word

3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

***THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING***
What do we set in front of our vision?

      “Television Set”

A television set (also called a television, TV set, TV, or “Telly” (UK) ) is a device that combines a tuner, display, and speakers for the purpose of viewing television. Television sets became a popular consumer product after the Second World War, using vacuum tubes and cathode ray tube displays. The addition of color to broadcast television after 1953 further increased the popularity of television sets, and an outdoor antenna became a common feature of suburban homes.

DO WE SET WICKED THINGS IN FRONT OF OUR VISION?

  18. Verse 1 AMP “I will sing of mercy and loving-kindness and justice; to You, O Lord, will I sing.” When we sing, we should sing unto the Lord.

Verse 5 AMP “Whoso privily slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off [from me]; he who has a haughty look and a proud and arrogant heart I cannot and I will not tolerate.”

  19. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Are we perfect? No, but we must behave ourselves because God sees all and orhers are watching. Its never wise to become a stumbling block for those that may follow our example.

If something draws your affection, attention and time away from the Lord and Godly things its best to cut it out of your life and also to stay away from those that pursue evil.
You can be a light to them, you can pray for them but don’t become so close that you fall into the same sin trap.

  20. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. (Psalms 101:4, 5, 7 KJV)
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. (Psalms 51:10, 11 KJV)
Lord that none of this would be found in me, it’s my desire to dwell in thy house forever!!!

  21. Our loved ones are the ones that hurt us the most, so much unbelief, and manipulating of the word. If anyone or anybody wants to know if they are doing right or wrong all they need to do is read the bible. Till this day everything Pastor preaches he backs up with the Bible. We are not perfect but God wants us to be Godly women and Godly men to reach for perfection. We all make mistakes, thanks be to God that his mercy endureth forever. We need to learn form our mistakes and not continue doing them. Repent and follow the commandments that God has given us. We have choices to make lets choose Gods way NOW!

  22. This chapter to me is talking about getting all the sin etc. away from you and making sure you stay close to God and focus on Him. He will guide you and use you but you have to trust Him. But we have to stay away from the things of this world in order for that to happen.

  23. He’s watching, so do your best to stay faithful. Also, remember to repent and turn from evil. Don’t practice evil, but turn from your evil ways. If, my people would humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then he will I hear from heaven!
    “Repent”…………

6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

  24. 5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I cut off: him that hath a high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land: that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not terry in my sight.

This makes me think of ‘ tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are” if you don’t desire to be a proud, selfish, deceitful person than why would you suffer to be around those type of people. If you don’t want to gossip then don’t make gossiping friends. If you want Tio be

  25. 1 I will sing of your love and justice, LORD. I will praise you with songs.
2 I will be careful to live a blameless life- when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.
3 I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them.
4 I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.
5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride. -(NLT)

This to me seems like it would be a good commitment/goal to keep not just with yourself but to God as well.

  26. The Wolf Pack
He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. Psalm 101:7
Of course women are not the only slanderers around.Men have their own system.
It’s a bit more subtle but just as dangerous to all concerned.

    “One Of The Girls”
Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I cut off. Psalm 101:5
Not only are we expected not to spread lies about others in public, You admonish us not to so
speak slander in private.Telling just one best friend a lie about another person is a sin.

  27. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

So many believe we are perfect and believe it. It is hard to admit when you are wrong, and have made a mistake. God wants us to admit our wrong doings and ask for forgiveness and repent. It so much easier to ask God for forgiveness! God, let me strive to be more like you each and every day, and asked for forgiveness daily!

  28. 3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

“I hate the work of them that turn aside” It has bothered me for many years those that I know who have turned away from God and stopped following him. People who used to live for God and serve him with all their heart suddenly stop. I believe my God is to good to walk away from. I have determined im my heart I will not walk away from God… He has been to good to me.

  29. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

We must keep wickedness away from us no matter where we are but especially in our homes. Home is a place where we relax and thus let our guard down. And this scripture places emphasis on the home before anywhere else. Televisions and computers can be the worst offenders in our homes. They entertain and lull the mind and can influence us while we think its only a harmless passing of time. Guard your heart by guarding what you see.

  30. 3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

Why do we think that we can get away with doing something that we know displeases God? He sees all that we do and he knows are very thoughts even before we think them. As Job did, we must abstain from all apprence of evil. A pure heart is what God is looking for.

  31. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

One of the ways to behave in a perfecting way, is to guard what goes into the soul, through the eyes, the ears and the mind. There are sublimimal messages in the atmosphere, and in the things that are watched and listened to. Purposing in ourselves that we will not watch, listen to or think upon things that would cause us to not walk with a perfect heart. Realizing none of us are perfect, but we are all striving for perfection.

  32. 2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

Teach me thy ways cause me to walk according to the truth in thy word. We can live above sin according to his word.

So then, be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. -Matthew 5:48

  33. From Proverb 21:

2 People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.

3 The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.

8 The guilty walk a crooked path; the innocent travel a straight road.

21 Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.

23 Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.

27 The sacrifice of an evil person is detestable, especially when it is offered with wrong motives.

Does the Proverb of the day not remind you of the Psalm of the day?

1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

The praise that opens this Psalm is expounded upon by the worship detailed afterward. Prov 21:3 “The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.” We must be honest with ourselves, is our way of living negating the praise we give God? Do we bless Him as Lord but show in our actions an inward cry of “crucify Him!”?

Our heart must be perfect before Him. Hatred, bitterness, etc will pollute our heart. Today’s Psalm speaks strongly about the company we keep; the people we hang around with will effect us, whether we like it or not. Be friends with a mocker, become a mocker. Be friends with a gossiper, become a gossiper. Our highest friendship should be with God. All other friendships will fall in line accordingly when we keep Him first.

Friendship with the world will reveal itself when our lips sing “Hosannah!” one day, the turn and cry “crucify Him!” If we sing unto God one day and then to the world the next, we must repent of being double minded. Life feel in turmoil, no peace, always having strife, feel tossed around in a storm, can’t get your footing, can’t quite seem to get things figured out?

    James 1:8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

We must let the Lord examine us and show us any double mindedness. Not every difficult season is “just a storm,” sometimes it’s the result of sin in our life. We must allow God to speak into our lives. Sometimes He seems silent because we pray “speak Lord!” yet refuse to give Him permission to show us the truth and have access to our hearts. It isn’t pleasant to receive the verdict of double mindedness, but it’s a lot less unpleasant than refusing to hear and repent. Blessing awaits in living in repentance…

    James 1:21-25

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

    Unto THEE, O Lord, will I sing…

Search me, Lord, let me not sing to the world but help me to sing unto You alone…

  34. The psalmist David’s personal resolution can be a model for our own. He makes a concious decision to be faithful and obedient to the Lord and to keep his heart pure. The Hebrews percieved the heart to be the center of the human spirit, from which springs emotions, thoughts, motivations, and actions -literally “the wellspring of life (Prv 4:23). The psalmist understands how important it is to be “careful” (vs2) in the way he directs his life because from his heartfelt vows will flow his behavior in private, at home and in the community. After making his resolution, without skipping a beat, the psalmist then asks God if the Lord will go with him. He realizes that he has no power to keep his resolution apart from the presence of the Lord, and it must line up with God’s will for his life. If God doesnt aprove, don’t move. Only in him do we have the resources to accomplish our goals and be all that he has in mind for us to be.
