Psalm 102

1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.

Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.

For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.

My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.

By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.

I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.

I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.

For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.

10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

12 But thou, O Lord, shall endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.

15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

16 When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;

20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

21 To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

22 When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

23 He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.

  1. Psalm 102:28 The children of thy servants shall continue, And their seed shall be established before thee.
    Because the Lord does not change (see v.27 But thou art the same, And thy years shall have no end), Israel’s future is secure(see Mal 3:6).

  2. The psalmist declares that the earth and the heavens will someday “perish”. One day the earth God created will literally “melt” (Ps 97:5; 2Pe 3:12). Everything visible to us now will fall apart and disappear. But God is so much greater than the tallest mountain or the deepest sea! He has no need of anything on earth; he transcends it all. Neither do we need to depend on anything we may now think we cannot live without. None of it will last; it will all wear out like a threadbaring garment. In Deut 29:5 God kept the Israelites shoes and clothes from wearing out, and in Luke 22:35 Jesus confirms the same message, that all his people needed was to rely soley upon him, not even the shoes on our feet or the clothes on our backs.
    God himself is “clothed” with glory and majesty, adorned with glory and splendor (Job 40:10), dressed in garments that will never wear out- he is the same forever (Ps 102:27; Heb 13:8). Beause he is building us an “eternal house in heaven” where we will live with Him in glory, we need not lose heart no matter what changes we see on this earth, because they are already foretold (2 Co 4:16; 5:1)

  3. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
    YES LORD!!!
    18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

    For the generation to come……. We as Christians should want to be an example for the generation to come. How? By striving to please GOD in ALL we do, as if doing ALL things unto the LORD. Why? Because GOD IS WORTHY. HE didn’t need to create us, but it pleased HIM to do so. HE created man with HIS hands!!! Wow!!! Who are we that HE would want to create us in HIS image ??? After HE created man and knowing how we would fail HIM. HE still wanted and wants us to join HIM In heaven!!! IN HEAVEN!!!
    Psalm 8: 4-9 (KJV)
    4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
    5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
    6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
    7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
    8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
    9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
    SANTO!!! SANTO!!! SANTO!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! I love YOU DADDY!!! HALELUJAH !!! Gracias PADRE!!! Te AMO REY HERMOSO!!! HALELUJAH !!! THERE IS NO ONE LIKE YOU JESUS!!! HALELUJAH!!! AMEN!!! HALELUJAH !!!

  4. Remember me O Lord!!!!!!

    12 But thou, O Lord, shall endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

    People tend to believe that God has forgotten about them, specially when they are going through a test/storm…there is a small saying in Spanish that the teacher is always quiet during test.

    27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

    Our God NEVER changes, His Love endureth for ever…

    It seems to me like the psalmist its looking to his problem a little too much and he begins to see it bigger and bigger, we need to focus on our God and how big and strong He is. HE IS THE GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE. Begin to PRAISE, make NOISE blessing HIS HOLY NAME, and the enemy will be confused and flee.

    Thank You JESUS!!!! BLESS YOUR HOLY NAME!!!! YOU ARE WORTHY OH LORD, MY SAVIOR, MY REDEEMER, MY LOVE!!!!!!

  6. 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
    Wow you are so good and so right.

    I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation 1:8 KJV)

  7. The blessing of brokenness

    11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

    Many times in the psalms we see the writer experience crushing, breaking, and humbling circumstances. From an outsider point of view this may seem unfair. Yet God in his mercy, and love pulls back the curtain and reminds us of who he is, and who we are.

    The same God who opened the eyes of blind Bartemaus blinded the men of Sodom. The same God who healed then ten lepers struck the prophetess Miriam with leperosy. The same awesome God who fed 5000 sent vipers to bite the children of Israel. The same God who will soon open heaven opened the ground to swallow Korah.

    There is a blessing in humbling ourselves before our Awesome God! When we humble ourselves he can use us, we he receives the glory others will be healed. When things are done with proper perspective the whole city can be taken for him!

    James 4:10
    10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

    1 Peter 5:6
    6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

    James 4:6
    6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

  8. 13. Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea,
    the set time, is come. (NOW )

    25. Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

    27. But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

    (KJV)Isaiah 48:12-13
    Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
    13. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

  9. 18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.
    19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;
    20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;
    21 To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

    We were created for a purpose!!! We’re we’re created to preach, teach, baptize, and to pray,( so that the sick are made whole, and the bound are loosed).we were created to worship Jesus.

  10. Vs. 13, “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.”

    Our church has been told that we have found favour with the Lord. So, we can look at this passage of scripture and say that the Lord will arise, and have mercy upon the Pentecostals of Fort Worth. The time to favour us is set, and it is NOW !

  11. STABILITY

    STABILITY – the quality, state, or degree of being stable: as
    a : the strength to stand or endure.

    In every investment we make in life, the larger the investment, the greater the STABILITY we search for. We desire for our larger investments to last and endure the elements of time and use.

    STABILITY is the platform or foundation of TRUST. TRUST is the gears of FAITH and without FAITH it is impossible to please GOD.

    There is nothing with more STABILITY than our LORD JESUS.

    HE alone laid the foundation of the world, HE alone traced the boundaries of the Heavens. HE alone holds Time in HIS hand. While everything he has made has seasons of change; however as we read in verse 27, HE is the same, HE has NO end, HE alone is the picture of STABILITY.

    Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;

    On CHRIST the solid ROCK I stand; all other is sinking sand. We have these promises and examples to live on and by.

    We have the confdence in HIM alone to BUILD our lives on HIM, his WORD and HIS promises.

  12. 102:19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary:from heaven did the Lord behold the earth:
    102:20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner:to loose those that are appointed to death:

    God is tugging at lost souls,backsliders,unsaved children, people who’s future was death God is bringing them in and giving them a new future…

  13. 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

    Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

  14. 17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
    18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord. 19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;
    20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; 21 To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; 22 When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

    I believe this is encouragement for those that are on our prayer board that we are daily lifting before the Lord. He will regard their prayer, to hear those that are prisioners to carnality, addictions, sins of all times, He will loose them from the sentence of death, through the praises and intercession of POFW!

  15. Psalm 102:4,6,7,8,9,10.
    My heart is blighted and withered like grass;
    I forget to eat my food.
    I am like a desert owl among the ruins.
    I lie awake; I have become
    like a bird alone on a roof .
    All day long my enemies taunt me;
    Those who rail against me use my name as
    a curse.
    For I eat ashes as my food
    and mingle my drink with tears because of your gray wrath,f

    • Sorry….
      Because of your great wrath,
      For you have taken me up and
      Thrown me aside.

      I understand the words of David….
      Been there,felt that! (2008) Different circumstance, same feeling.
      Because I can say that’s the past and GOD never let me nor forsake me, he didn’t and he won’t ….
      TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!
      ( no medications,for depression) it was all GOD.
      I kinda have an idea that it was a very evil spiritual battle, but I also knew GOD was aware of it. And slowly but sure I was able to conquered that attact to my soul, body and mind….

      …. God sees it all, knows it all, he is in all, and he does everything at the perfect time.
      It better for us to wait upon the LORD.
      This was just a season in David’s life, just like it was for me.. And so on….
      God is good. No matter what!

  16. Lord I know that you are no respecter of persons and that the afflicted of all times can depend on you. I am totally dependent upon you for everything. I thank you God that I know your nature is never to change and that the way you deal with men gives me great comfort because you are fair and ever so merciful. You are my refuge because I know you.

    My prayer is that your people will allow more change to come into their lives by your will, by your word, so that they can be profitable for the kingdom of God.

    Praise God for your goodness and mercy!

  17. 26 they shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed.
    27 but thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

    AMEN the Lord is forever the same! He will always be merciful, loving, forgiving, graceful. He is good and will remain the same forever hallelujah

  18. v18 ” And the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.”

    We were created to make HIS praise glorious and the generation to come also.
    GOD has called us to Glorify HIM in all we do and say. HE desires a people who will be true to HIM in worship, and will not share HIS GLORY or Worship with another.

    Just like a marriage should be ,we want our spouse to be true and faithful. The LORD desires for HIS people to be true to HIM.

    We truly are a blessed people. I’m thankful that LORD wanted to share HIMSELF with us ( and for those who don’t know HIM yet HE wants to share HIMSELF with you also.)

    Calling on the LORD should never be our last resort but our first choice.
    Our friends, neighbors, and our Pastor can not do our praying, we have to do our own praying.
    The Psalmist realized that his prayers were vital to his deliverance.
    Praise the LORD! the prayers of GOD’s people do bring results.

  20. 1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.

    I believe this chapter is talking about the people crying to God and searching for Him…we need to be that light that draws them closer to Him. We need to encourage and reinsure them that…He can do all things…that He can heal…and much more.
    We all need to remember I AM THE LIGHT!!! God gave us all a purpose…but one purpose He gave to all was to be a SOUL WINNER!!!!!

  21. 18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

    As the world gets increasingly more evil there is still a generation being born into the kingdom. And each new disciple has a new praise for their deliverance!

  22. This chapter illustrates sincerity. One must sincerely seek God (Jesus), for the Lord (Jesus) knoweth ones heart; “Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee”. Now is the time that one must sincerely seek God; “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  23. 18 This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

    This is a great example of the Tale of the Three Chairs. What did the past generation leave for the new? Was it blessings or curses? We can learn from the past. History will repeat itself, if the next generation will not learn from the past.

  24. 26 They will perish, but you remain forever; they will wear out like old clothing. You will change them like a garment and discard them.
    27 But you are always the same; you will live forever.
    28 The children of your people will live in security. Their children’s children will thrive in your presence.” -(NLT)

    The Lord lives forever and hears all the prayers and cries of those who sincerely seek Him.

  25. 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

    The Lord is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He is God and he changeth not.

  26. This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

    For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;

    To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

    To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

  27. In this scripture, as in vs. 10, we wonder why life seems to be like a roller coaster ride. Hmm, maybe there’s a reason for this type of experience.

    “Now”………………….

  28. Yet you, God, are sovereign still, always and ever sovereign. You’ll get up from your throne and help Zion— it’s time for compassionate help. Oh, how your servants love this city’s rubble and weep with compassion over its dust! The godless nations will sit up and take notice —see your glory, worship your name— When God rebuilds Zion, when he shows up in all his glory, When he attends to the prayer of the wretched. He won’t dismiss their prayer. (Psalm 102:12-17 MSG)

    It’s time, God won’t dismiss the prayers

  29. You will arise and have mercy and loving-kindness for Zion, for it is time to have pity and compassion for her; yes, the set time has come [the moment designated]. For Your servants take [melancholy] pleasure in the stones [of her ruins] and show pity for her dust. So the nations shall fear and worshipfully revere the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth Your glory. (Psalm 102:13-15 AMP)

    Will we settle for stones or hunger for more? God knows how to give good gifts to His children, we don’t have to settle for stones when we can have the living Bread and every promise He has for us. We can’t afford to set up camp in the desert; God has a promised land for us, and receiving it will cause those around us to see God’s glory and fear and worshipfully revere Him. There’s a harvest in the promise, there’s bread in the battle! Like the Psalm says, it’s due season NOW!

  30. 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

    God does not change… He is the same yesterday, today and forever. From everlasting to everlasting, He is God.

    He is the God that hears prayer and answers as well.

    1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.

    2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.

    Sometimes we feel like we want to give up, when in reality is time to pray. You may feel as if nothing is happening, and feel as if the Lord just forgot about you…and feel compelled to give in to the temptation of quiting, giving up. God never chose the I give up route. Imagine if He had given up half way on the way to Calvary. He didn’t quit. He endured; He stayed strong. He did commanded us to stay strong.
    “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
    Joshua 1:9. It’s a command to go, to move forward, to keep pressing. To keep praying because He hears and He answers. If you’re not getting your answer He will tell what you are doing wrong. The word says that He does not listen to sinners but if him be a worshiper to him He listens. He tells us how to get into His presence with praise and thanksgiving…it’s pretty much inviting us come pray, talk to me, I’m waiting to hear from .. Come on, don’t give up, come talk to me and pray… I’ll answer you.
    Sometimes we just have to P.U.S.H
    Pray until something happens…. The Lord is actually waiting to hear from us.

  31. The Lord lives, he doesn’t look at us as another soul he needs to work on , he loves everybody, he doesn’t say one thing in the bible and then say something different the next day. His word is perfect and doesn’t return void.

    Gods word has value, it’s valid no one can change it nor replace with what suits them. That’s why I believe what the bible says, If in doubt a soul that seeks God should read the word so they can be fed .

    Lord you are awesome. Let your power and might fall on every lost soul. For you make a way when there is no way. I praise and worship you lord, deliver my Church home and my family from all enemies and home from any distractions from praising you and doing you will.

  32. In the Message Version of this chapter, the caption reads “A Prayer of One Whose Life Is Falling to Pieces, and Who Lets God Know Just How Bad It Is”. This prayer describes how low and bad his situation has become, yet he states in verse 12 “Yet you, God, are sovereign still, always and ever sovereign”.

    Malachi 3:6-7 “I am God—yes, I Am. I haven’t changed. And because I haven’t changed, you, the descendants of Jacob, haven’t been destroyed. You have a long history of ignoring my commands. You haven’t done a thing I’ve told you. Return to me so I can return to you,” says God-of-the-Angel-Armies.

    “You ask, ‘But how do we return?’

    Many have turned away and left his side and are asking the same thing. There is room in the house of God for everybody – POFW.
