Psalm 109

1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;

For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.

When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.

11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.

12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.

13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with theLord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

15 Let them be before the Lord continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

16 Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

17 As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.

18 As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.

19 Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

20 Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the Lord, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

21 But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.

22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

23 I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.

24 My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.

25 I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.

26 Help me, O Lord my God: O save me according to thy mercy:

27 That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, Lord, hast done it.

28 Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.

29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.

30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

  1. 1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

He is our protector and defender, and also our avenger. It is inevitable, in this world peolple will do us wrong, but we must let God be the one that takes on the battle. He can do way better than what we can. In here we see how the psalmist didn’t just let himself get stepped on by his adversaries but didn’t react foolishly in anger either. He chose the best thing in wisdom, he let out his frustration and in prayer called out to God. He says God remember what the have done to me. You take this into your hands and repay according to their wicked ways. I will praise you Lord for you stand you and repay them what they deserve. It is a wise thing to learn to give ur to the Lord. His revenge is greater and better. But don’t just wait and do nothing pray and tell the Lord about it.

  2. 4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

I give myself unto prayer. They have hurt me and hated me without cause but instead of retaliating I’m giving it to you daddy! The bible declares that vengeance is mine saith The Lord, woe to the adversaries of a child of God who has access to His listening ear! God counts each of our tears and His children are precious to Him, and even though we should forgive, bless, and pray for those who curse us and despitefully use us, when we turn to God and pour out our hearts hurts and frustrations he takes note. It’s also during these times of open honesty with ourselves and God that He has the freedom to move in our lives to heal and cleanse us even in other or unknown areas. The key is to take it to God in prayer, let it out of our hands.

  3. 2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.

4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Jesus knows every tear that his people cry,I believe when we hurt he hurts! I can’t help but think of how I would react if Samuel,Anna orSayler came to me crying because someone was cruel to them I know the mother instinct in me would rise up and I would want to protect them, How much more does Jesus feel! The bible says he knows every hair on our head to me that is saying that he loves his children so much that nothing goes unnoticed, People don’t realize how dangerous it is to mistreat Gods children.. I know me as a parent if you want to get me mad start messing with my kids, How much more does Jesus feel!!

  4. ILove to eat the Word

Wow, David goes off the chain on the enemies of God.

It is a dangerous thing to talk about and mistreat The Children of God.

(Sorry these blogs have been so short, I have been exhausted)

  5. As I read His word today all I hear is…Give it to me & I will give you VICTORY…Matt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. The world puts all this burden upon you and all you have to do is GO TO HIM… The blessing lay at His Feet and all you have to do is GO TO HIM. He will do justice, He will judge and give to them their well earned reward, let it be a blessing or a curse. God is so good to me. THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR VICTORY!!!!!!

  6. 27 That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, Lord, hast done it.

30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

    1 Chronicles 16:29 (KJV)
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

  7. WOW!!!! What a prayer! I can some what understand David’s prayer to some extent. But my mind is a little resistant to pray a prayer like this, even though I recognize the enemy behind it all. To pray a prayer unto God was not only to affect one man but as we see every seed that comes after him.
Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour. Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children. Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. (Psalms 109:6-14 KJV)
I’ve experienced the Mercy, the Grace, the Love, the forgiveness of God. And I have to believe because of it, as I deal with those that come against me, mercy, compassion, but most of all Love still reaches out to for them.
This is more like what goes through my mind, my thoughts, and I’m thankful for the Word of God that has taught me this and it’s in me to do this:

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:14, 17-21 KJV)
Lord always help me to forgive and to Love unconditionally. To continue to reach for those who have wronged me. Don’t get me wrong saints of God, the only thing that I want is for GOD ALMIGHTY is to destroy satan and his little devils!!!!!! Which He Already did at Calvary…. For He HAS RISEN!!!!!!!

  8. iPraise IN THE MIDST OF ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING

30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

We learn here of the tornent and pain of accusation, humilation and justification. As we examine ourselves, and learn of GOD and HIS love for HIS own that are called by HIS name. We understand that there are 2 specific attitudes, actions and activities that GOD will honor and respond to every time. FAITH through HUMILITY and PRAISE with JOY.

If we are able to wrap our minds around the fact that GOD LOVES ME and HIS DESIRE IS TO BLESS ME then and only then will FAITH and PRAISE come naturally.

Consider LOVE, it is patient, kind, humble, obedient, positive, giving, and most of all the LORD chastens those HE LOVES.

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

My Praise allows HIM to correct ME and directs ME to REPENT.
My Faith allows HIM to direct ME and to HIS purpose and not mine.

When people treat you bad, when people make fun of you, when people take advantage of you, when people disrespect you, when people persecute you, when people accuse you, when people speak evil of you, when people take advantage of you. Do not get mad, hurt, offended, even or any other negative emotion.

    FORGIVE, BELIEVE, PRAY and PRAISE

    Why?

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. KJV

Romans 12:19 Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. “I’ll do the judging,” says God. “I’ll take care of it.” MSG

    iForgive others
    iPray for mercy
    iPraise JESUS
    iWork in HIS Kingdom
    iGive to the poor
    iReap ABUNDANTLY

  9. 30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude

I will PRAISE the Lord and give Him Glory for all that He has done and all He is going to do!!

  10. 109:2,3,4,5,25.niv
    O God who I praise,
    do not remain silent,
    2For sicken and deceitful man
have open their mouth against me.
They have spoken against me with lying tongues.
    3with words of hatred they surround me;
    They attact me without cause.
4in return for my friendship they acuse me,
But I am a man of prayer.
5 they repay me evil for good, and
    Hatred for my friendship.
    ———–
We all go through bad seasons in our lives, and I believe they are ment to teach us some thing. Weather they are from God or the enemy. For exemple: Job’s circumstances…..
ether they defeat us or we conquer them.
    When David said:
    ” but I am a man of prayer “…..
    That’s it!!!!!!
    PRAYER AND PRAISE…..( … I have learned)
    —-
The joy of The Lord is and has and will always be my STRENGHT .
I love you daddy, and I want to thank you for: the adversaries throughout our walk together,
Because I believe I had learned from it, I love you Abba, I pray, I forgive, I keep on believing and leaning on you.
    For you are my judge….
I will repay says The Lord …
Though the sorrow may last for the night,
But joy comes in the morning…

    • I want to correct when I said: the joy of The Lord is, and has been and will be my STRENGHT .
…. NOW I can say that the joy of The Lord is my STRENGHT ; before didnt know, that he could be my STRENGHT in my weakness, my joy and happiness when they talked about me…….
So, it’s when We go through hardship, persecution, hatred and suffering thats how we become stronger( through Christ ) to face any circumstance.

  11. This is a strong prayer to God to avenge David’s enemies. While it may seem harsh to us, I have to remember that I have not been in David’s shoes. Saul chased & persecuted him and he ebdured Ziglag. This prayer is a just prayer when I consider all David’s torment. So in our time of persecution we must let God avenge.

  12. We must remember that David was a man after God’s own heart, and even though he did not do everything right. I do believe that during this time David was angry at what was going on in his life. David was a warrior, therefore he would think on how to get back what was stolen and revenge. Thankfully today we don’t have to worry about revenge because if God be for us, than who can be against us?

  13. IT does not matter what others say or think about you. What is important is what God knows about you. Many will talk against you when you are doing good.

  14. God is our protector. We have all been hurt from someone at one time or another. However I have never prayer a prayer like this but I have prayed Lord help my enemy (not using name) but whatever you have todo just to it that person only. Example open their eyes don’t use family members to get their attention just get the attention of the enemy. People need to be careful how they treat and talk about God’s people. Let God handle the enemy vengeance is the Lords he dont need is telling him how to do it (alto like many I have tried to help) God help me not to be a stumbling block for anyone.

  15. Do you beg for persecution?
I don’t believe that anyone goes around wanting persecution. No one wants to be an outcast or the scapegoat. No one wants accusations spoken at the constantly. We all want to be loved and accepted, but living a life outside of the “norms” of this world leaves us in persecution. People persicuted what they don’t understand. People don’t understand not cuttibg hair and no make-up. They don’t understand clothingtgat covers and is not too revealing. People don’t understand why you would choose silence instead of gossip, slander, and backbiting. The world that we are in only see differences. While we might be seen as an outsider and someone who is weird, we MUST continue to be the light to this dying world. We MUST stay HOLY and SEPERATED. How else will anyone ever really come to know Jesus who is not of this world. If all people ever see us the world they will only ever understand the things if this world. We MUST reflect Jesus and live as outsiders because we are not of this world. WHEN persecution comes don’t be downcast because of the persecution, rather rejoice in knowing that JESUS is receiving GOLRY and you are leading people to CHRIST!

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. (2 Timothy 3:12 KJV)

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:10 KJV)

But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me. (Psalms 109:21 KJV)

So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: (2 Thessalonians 1:4, 5 KJV)

    Wow–2 Corinthians 4–
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:1-18 KJV)

  16. From The Roots To The Fruit

9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

    Matthew 21:18-22
18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. 19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. 20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

The Psalmist’s prayer speaks of one man’s sin affecting his whole household, even after he is gone. There is a principle: as the root, so the fruit.

    Luke 6:43-44
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

Our lives act as a root for what is to come, whether family or otherwise. The fruitless-tree describes a fruitless root, and God in His great knowledge can look past now to see the future fruit of a root and bring it into existence now. It seems harsh that one man’s sin would make a future destination be harvested immediately through judgment, yet think of the power of that. What about exercising that for good? Might we be able to reap a future harvest NOW?

    Luke 13:6-9
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. 7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none:cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

This gardener was wise. The law said during the first few years, there was to be no harvesting of fruit from a fruit tree. In fact, a gardener had to purposefully prune off fruit buds so the tree couldn’t produce any fruit. Why? Because that energy had to invest in growing roots.

So what was the difference between this fig tree and the other? Why did one receive mercy and the other judgement? Because one had established roots and the other didn’t; one was still growing, but for the other, it reached Due Season.

It is important to grow the right root system, and be ready for the hour of visitation in Due Season when the Master comes. When the Master comes, will He be able to bless NOW with a future harvest rooted in righteousness?

    Hebrews 10:36 – 11:1
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. (Chapter 11) 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The substance of the fruit of righteous roots is Faith! We must have NOW Faith for the Due Season harvest!

    Luke 18:1, 6-8
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; … 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

God can answer our prayer in harvest, but when He finds us in Due Season will we have maintained faith or been as them that draw back? Our actions now effect our future harvest NOW! We must maintain faith and not grow weary in well doing during the Due Season! The harvest of our lives depends on it; ministries, families, salvation of souls even.

We must choose, will we bless or curse? Have faith or faint?

    NOW is the season!

    1 John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

  17. 30 I will give great praise and thanks to the Lord with my mouth; yes, and I will praise Him among the multitude. (AMP)

No matter what’s going on. . . Praise God!
No matter what it looks like. . . Praise God!
No need to worry. . . Praise God!

  18. Verses 26-28 CEV read “Please help me, Lord God! Come and save me because of your love. Let others know that you alone have saved me. I don’t care if they curse me, as long as you bless me. You will make my enemies fail when they attack, and you will make me glad to be your servant.”

Verses 30-31 CEV “I will sing your praises and thank you, Lord, when your people meet. You help everyone in need, and you defend them when they are on trial.”

Sometimes it’s hard to keep your cool when someone is on the attack; but, we must remember the name of our Protector and Defender – Jesus.

  19. 30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

I refuse to quit praising. No matter who or what comes against me, I refuse to quit. Where ever and when ever I refuse to quit praising…

  20. In this scripture, it is apparent suffering and many adversaries had arisen. His prayer began of request for help or vengeance. Then another request for God’s help/mercy, but it seemed harsh or extremely hateful toward his enemies.

But, remember we are called to love our neighbor as ourselves and pray for our enemies. Show them who “Jesus Is”…….

    “Now”………….

  21. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
    NO PEOPLE PLEASERS HERE!!!!
NO MATTER WHO,WHEN OR WHAT IS SAID…… FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD!!! PRAISE HIM!!! HALELUJAH!!!
    1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3 They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.

THE WORDS THAT PROCEED OUT OF THE MOUTH ARENT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SHOULD BE!!!
    Proverbs 6:2 (KJV)
2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
………..!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  22. As I read this chapter early this morning, I thought what a harsh prayer by David against his enemies. Then in my other reading for the day, I read Luke 6, which seemed to be the total opposite of David’s prayer. Jesus informed his disciples to, “Love their enemies, do good to them who hated them, Bless them which cursed them, and pray for them which despised them.” (Luke 6:27-28.) Then in Luke 6:35-36 Jesus said, “But love ye your enemies, and do good, lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”

When our enemy hurts us, Jesus wants us to have mercy on them not hate. He wants us to love, do good, bless, and pray for them.

We can turn the situation around just through our Attitude, Prayer, and Praise.

Romans 12:20-21, “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

  23. The psalmist asks God to act against those who act against those who have attacted him. He expresses his desire that the wicked be found guility and suffer retribution . The psalmists grim antagonism toward the wicked is seen to be justified as he describes the harm the wicked have done others. The psalm ends with an appeal for help against the wicked who threaten and oppres the psalmist himself

  24. v30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among Tge multitude.
v31 For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

This chapter reminds me about the story in the garden. Take the cup of surffering or die by the sword. It’s our choice, let no man glory in HIS PRESENCE it’s better to turn your fight to JESUSCHRIST and more manly to have control than lose control.
It’s better to take the cup of suffering wrong than to do wrong.

    iPray
    iGreatly Praise the LORD
    iReap HIS SALVATION
    NOW

  25. 26 Help me, O Lord my God: O save me according to thy mercy:

We’ve got a God who fights for us.

Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. -Psalms 24:8

    Great is our God!

  26. 109:1 Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise; v.2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

    A prayer for God
to judge a case of false accusation.

Hold not thy peace. Do not be (judicially) inactive . God of my praise. The one he publicly praises as his trustworthy deliverer and defender

  27. The Lord knows all and sees all. We have a forgiving God. The Lord knows the intentions of the heart. Nothing goes unseen, God is my avenger. It is hard to overlook wrong doing that others do. But we got to forgive them and pray for them. Lord strenghten me when I am weak. Lead me and guide me to do your will.

  28. Blessings and Curses

In Hebrew culture it was understood that God hands down both blessings and curses from generation to generation (Ex 20:5-6). The offspring of the righteous will inherit blessing (Ps 103:17), and the descendants of the wicked will pay the price for the sin of their ancestors (Jer 2:9). When David prays curses on the relatives of his enemies, he is not maliciously wishing harm to innocent women and children. Rather, he is asking that the Lord execute his promised judgment of the wicked, which includes terrible and inevitable consequences fo their families. David’s call for justice is not a personal vendetta but a passionate plea for God’s righteousness to reign.
