Psalm 135

1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.

Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.

Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.

Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

10 Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

12 And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.

14 For the Lord will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.

15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.

19 Bless the Lord, O house of Israel: bless the Lord, O house of Aaron:

20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi: ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord.

21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Psalm 135:15-18 the idols of the heathen are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they but they see not they have ears but they here not Neither is there any breath in their mouths. They that make them are like unto them: So is everyone trusteth in them.

The powerlessness of the false gods and of those who trust in them
vv.5-7 For I know that the Lord is great, And that our Lord is above all gods……

Blessed knowing MY GOD has mouth that speaks, eyes that see, ears to hear, and breath that I may live!!

  2. Count your Blessings and don’t forget what the Lord has done for you. Praise Him no matter what, for the Lord has done what He wants. Be thankful for we have a God that hears, see, feels, He wrapped Himself in flesh, came down to this world, so we can say He knows exactly what we are going through. We have a God that can relate to us at the same level, it is not a god made out by man, but He is the God that became man so we can be redeemed back into His everlasting LOVE. PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR HE IS GOOD AND HIS LOVE ENDURETH FOREVER.

  3. 15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

What’s your worship? A question that I ask myself continually, because I know how easy it is to get sidetracked in this busy world. I do not want to have anyone be able to question whom I serve, I want it to be an obvious, Jesus. With all that I do, I want His name and His glory to be seen by all who are watching. That means I have to be aware of what I am doing and conscience of my decisions as well of their consequences. It also means that no matter how I feel, I will worship Him…

  4. Praise God for all His Mighty works He hath done. He has fought for us in the good times and rough times.
He has the power to fill us with His spirit and deliver us just like He did for the Egyptians.
He sacrificed Himself on the cross for us. What a GREAT GOD!
    AND I MEAN “GREAT!”

DO unto others as you would want them to DO unto you.~ Jesus

This is a good passage to remind me what God is all about.
    Thank you Jesus!
There will be a praise in everything I do.

  5. Look in the mirror

15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

    16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.

Immersion is a powerful concept. When pursuing an education in a foreign language there is one effective way to quickly, and effectively speak fluently in around 6 months.

This is by going into the country, and cutting off yourself from any other language. A person is forced to learn because they are consumed with the culture, and speech.

Taking one class every year for 10 years and focusing only on the vocabulary will produce very small results.

In living for God we become what we allow ourselves to be immersed in. The enemy is petrified of this concept, and attacks personal prayer, devotion, and study time.

He doesn’t care if we go to church. He trembles at the thought of becoming like Jesus.

When Lot was delivered from Sodom and Gomorrah the Bible says this

    2 Peter 2:7
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

The word vexed means to tire down with toil, and exhaust with labor. Lot’s continual exposure, and his immersion in the culture eroded him little by little every day. The “word” of filthy conversation nearly destroyed Lot’s soul.

Our faithfulness to God, and our immersion in the word, and presence of God will cause us to grow little by little everyday and be like Jesus!

“To be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like him, all through life’s journey, from earth to glory, I only ask to be like him”

  6. V15-18
The gods of this world look like my God the true God but it’s not the same there god don’t hear do move don’t talk. I must be careful not to follow the looks of the world but I must follow God his word

  7. Verses 13-18 MSG:
    “God, your name is eternal,
    God, you’ll never be out-of-date.
God stands up for his people,
God holds the hands of his people.
The gods of the godless nations are mere trinkets,
made for quick sale in the markets:
    Chiseled mouths that can’t talk,
    painted eyes that can’t see,
    Carved ears that can’t hear—
    dead wood! cold metal!
Those who make and trust them
    become like them.”

    Proverbs 3:5-9 NLT:
    “Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
    and strength for your bones.
Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce.”

    Family of POFW, bless God!

  8. 5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. 15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. 16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; 17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

Is God above your American idol?
God is God! He is high and lifted. He is above all that we have and all that we are. Sometimes in life things get out of hand. We create “idols” without realizing it. Things become false gods to us and we might just not notice. Things like food, entertainment, electronics, and sports quickly take our time. When these things consistently get more time than God, they become idols that we “worship”.

God cut down the groves, tear down the high places, and destroy the idols that we have set up in our lives. Help us all to enter your gates with thanks giving and enter your courts with praise. God help us all praise you because YOU ARE GOD! Amen

  9. 5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

Our Lord is above all gods, He can do whatever He pleases from heaven to the depths of the sea – even make lightening and wind!! No false god or idol can do that, not Baal, Buddha, Allah, Hare-Krishna or any others you could name, only the one true God, JESUS!

  10. Hallelujah! Send up praise in everything. Trust un him. You may not understand the storm but its all for the greater good. Bless him in the time of joy. The time of sorrow. He is always with you. Hang on to him. He is worthy!

  11. 3 Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

Everything we have is for God’s glory! It makes no sense to have a beautiful voice and waste it singing for the world, or even imitating a worldly song. When we praise him in song our voice is not ours but his, for his glory. ‘ if I sing but don’t have love I waste my breath with every word I sing.’ Praise the Lord at all times for he has done great things!!!!!!!!
    Thank You Jesus!!

  12. DONT JUST STAND THERE

1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.
2 Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

Picture this psalm based on the ability of our GOD. The psalmist identified most of the gods of this world; the idols that cannot answer.

    The MSG describes them perfectly.

13-18 God, your name is eternal,
    God, you’ll never be out-of-date.
God stands up for his people,
God holds the hands of his people.
The gods of the godless nations are mere trinkets,
made for quick sale in the markets:
    Chiseled mouths that can’t talk,
    painted eyes that can’t see,
    Carved ears that can’t hear—
    dead wood! cold metal!
Those who make and trust them
    become like them.

Years past we sang a song titled “GOD is NOT dead, HE is ALIVE”. This chapter reminds us vividly that anything we worship that is not living, active and moving, that does not have the ability to heal, delver and redeem is not really a god, it is an idol.

What do we trust in. If it cannot hear, speak or move; you are following the WRONG god.

Choose JESUS! He was dead but is NOW alive! Since HE is ALIVE, we must be like HIM. He is moving, speaking, and blessing.

    ALIVE in PRAISE.

    Praise in verse 1

1984. haw-lal´; to be clear; to shine; hence, to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively, to celebrate; also to stultify:—(make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool(-ish, -ly), glory, give (light), be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, (sing, be worthy of) praise, rage, renowned, shine.

    sing Praises in verse 3

2167. zaw-mar´; properly, to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument, i.e. play upon it; to make music, accompanied by the voice; hence to celebrate in song and music:—give praise, sing forth praises, psalms.

    ACT crazy and SING!

I am THANKFUL we have a PRAISE and WORSHIP service today! Make up your mind that you will not just stand there.

We have so many reasons to Praise the LORD. Choose a reason today and when we arrive in the HOUSE of the LORD.

    DONT JUST STAND THERE

Isaiah 63:7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

    AMEN!!!!
    the devil is a liar.!!!!’
My God is greater than any other, for their gods can not heal, can not bring joy, can not delivered, they can’t , they can’t,they can’t do ANYTHING !!
    The devil is a liar
    The devil is a deceiver
And the devil only has the freedom that The Lord can give him.
He has power, but my GOD is ALL POWER.
    My GOD is great!!!!!!
The devil is a liar and there is no truth in him.
But my GOD IS all truth.
My GOD does what he wants, HE
    rules!!!!

  15. [Idols] have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not, nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make [idols] are like them; so is everyone who trusts in and relies on them. (Psalm 135:16-18 AMP)

    My God is real!!

Listen! The Lord ’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call. (Isaiah 59:1 NLT)

  16. Vs.5, “For I know that the LORD is great, and that our LORD is above all gods.”

When I read this scripture, there were 3 words that stood out to me. FOR I KNOW.
What do I know that I have no doubts about? My God is great! He’s awesome, wonderful, and amazing!
What do I know that I have no doubts about? My God is above all other gods, and beside Him there is none else. All other gods are the works of mens hands, and they have no life in them. I serve the Living God who has life, and because of it, I can have life, and have it more abundantly.

I’m glad I know who Jesus is!!

  17. This chapter illustrates reverence. God was revered; “Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places”. One is wise to show reverence to the true God (Jesus); “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

    • ILove to eat the Word

15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

      16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

Our God is awesome. He came I earth as a man and has a mouth, eyes, hands and feet. THE FALSE STATUE GODS AIN’T GOT NOTHING ON THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD!

  18. 6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

God is in control! Even when the weather is crazy Gods hand is at work. And because we know he is in control even when we can’t fathom why it’s 80 one day and 40 the next we can rejoice and bless his name! Verse 6 says The Lord did what he pleased so if he’s happy I can’t complain! 🙂

  19. 1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.

2 Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

  20. There is no other gods above Jesus!
I remembered when i lived in Garland tx and just filled w The Holy Ghost, there was a budda temple ther rich w false god worship and ther was a lady i worked with and she worshiped buddha and she was sick and she told me that she had put silver coins in heat and put them all over her back and burned them into her skin.she showed everyone (ladies) at work her back. ouch!
I was in tears so i went out back and prayed to Jesus

“why? God, why she did that u are not about pain but love thank u Jesus i love u Jesus’
So i went in and asked her if i could pray for her w Jesus’ help she said yes so we were in back of the work place and praising and praying and Jesus was there to touch her body.
U are a Holy God and i honor u Jesus!

w my love to people and You, Jesus.

  21. 13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.

Remember what all the Lord has done for you. In all things give thanks.

  22. The call to praise concludes with an introduction of its themes praise of Gods choice of Israel and praise of Gods power. It ends with a glad cry urging the house of Israel to praise God together.

  23. v5 For I know that the LORD is great, and that our LORD is above all gods.

We give HIM glory and Honor because HE is worthy of our praise. HE is GOD Almighty
We adore HIM for saving us and for who HE IS.

    iPray
    iPraise
    iAdore
    iWorship JESUS

  24. 14 God stands up for his people, God holds the hands of his people. MSG
Don’t forget who has your back covered!! Reading this chapter this song came to my mind:The hand of fear gripped the hearts of the crowd that day at Jerrod’s home
When the doctor shook his head and said she’s gone
You can feel that matter’s hopeless
You could hear them cry at night
That little girl was only twelve years old
Then somewhere in the distance, out lying against the sun
There came a Man on a mission from the throne
They said somebody’s coming but what they didn’t know
It was a Promise coming down that dusty road
    Chorus
Oh it was a Promise coming down that dusty road
From His holy hands He need ? ?
He’s got the key to what you need, death and hell He will defeat
And there’s a Promise coming down that dusty road
Wonder turned to mocking when Jesus did speak
He said your daughter’s not dead she’s just asleep
Then He turned to the unbelievers and He told them all go home
That’s when I heard Him say leave me and death alone
Then He laid his hands upon the child
He looked death right in his eye
He said all power in heaven in earth given unto Me
And when the voices sounded like thunder
    And He hurled death asunder
And then He said little girl rise and be healed
    chorus 2x
Oh there’s a promise coming down your dusty road
Wonder turned to mocking when Jesus did speak
He said your daughter’s not dead she’s just asleep
Then He turned to the unbelievers and He told them all go home
That’s when we heard Him say leave me and death
There’s a promise coming down your dusty road
Then He laid his hands upon this child He looked death in the eyes
He said all power in heaven and earth given unto Me
And with the voice sounded like thunder
He hurled death asunder and then He said little girl rise and be healed
    Chorus

We are have a promise coming down that dusty road that we have been promised. Hold on to your promise don’t give up keep praising in advance.

  25. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

WHATSOEVER THE LORD PLEASED…….. SO TELL ME WHY???? WE SIT AND ASK GOD WHY THIS AND WHY THAT??? BECAUSE IT PLEASED HIM!!! THAT’S WHY!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU JESUS!!!

  26. 14 For the Lord will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? -1 Peter 4:17

  27. Sometimes we need to be reminded of what God has brought us out of, to get us through the muck we are in. Its that outburst of faith that Jesus will in fact make a way out of no way, again. “He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings” (vs10) and “he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel.” (vs12) this verse is God keeping his promise to Abraham “6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” (Gen 17:6-8). Sometimes we just need to pause ‘selah’ in the midst of our trouble and praise the Lord for his faithfulness, and mercy. Its not only an outburst of faith, but its gonna confuse the enemy. We can rejoice for “the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants” (vs14) so we don’t need to take vengence for ourselves, but the Lord will be our avenger. “It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.” (Deut 32:35). To take matters into our own hands is like telling Jesus that we don’t need him, nor trust him. In addition its disobedience and sin, and glorifying self, and we are not to be our own god, nor are we to ‘fashion’ our own gods which pending doom is in those who trust in them. Instead praise ye the Lord, for he is great and greatly to be praised! “that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.” (Jhn 3:15).

  28. 4 For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.

There is an everlasting family Name Jesus gives us when we are born again. But there often comes a process in the marking of that Name in our hearts. Just as Jacob had to give up himself to become Israel, so do we have to allow God to change us; God chooses us as we are, but we become a treasure after the surrender of ourselves to be changed. We must let God work, and endure the impact of death while in the process of life.

  29. 5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Praise praise praise the One and only God!

Who is like You Lord in all the earth? There are so many fake gods out there but only One who is Alive and Well, Jesus! Above all the rest. Not made out of hands or imagination of men…but rather we are made in his image he is the creator of all 🙂

  30. 1 Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) Praise the name of the Lord; praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!
2 You who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God,
3 Praise the Lord! For the Lord is good; sing praises to His name, for He is gracious and lovely! (AMP)

    Hallelujah! The Lord is Good!!

  31. Thankful that we have been chosen by God, and are considered a pecuilar treasure. Not peculiar in the meetin of strange, but peculiar in the meaning of “prized, treasured, take delight in.”

  32. He has made Israel his peculiar treasure, and is still the apple of his eye. So, pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Bless her, and be blessed!

4 For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

    “Now”………………………………….

  33. God is the only one that will hear us and do something for us. Any other god we might follow cannot do a thing for us. Therefore, we should be wise and obey the only One that can actually help us in our troubles and save us. His name is Jesus!

  34. Lord I praise your Holy name, Holy and mighty is your name. I praise you Lord now and forever. Thank you Lord for your love and your mercy.

  35. He has surpassed so many people’s needs and yet they are foolish in how they live their lives searching for “something better/easier”. You won’t find happiness without The Lord
