Psalm 139

1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

  1. v14 I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

This chapter gives us great comfort to know three attributes of our Great GOD.
    1. HE IS OMNIPOTENT!
    All mighty no limits

    2. HE IS OMNIPRESENT !
HE is everywhere you cannot hide.

    3. HE IS OMNISCIENT !
    HE knows everything .

John 4:24 says that GOD is a Spirit.
That same SPIRIT dwells in my heart today.
    Thank you JESUS!

The good news is that GOD is willing and desirous to give good gifts to those who ask of HIM.
JESUS stated that everyone who asked for the Holy Ghost would receive it.
    John 14:16-18,15:26, 16:7-14

There is no limit to the quantity of miracles,
    Today.

  2. Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139:16 AMP)

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (Psalms 139:16 NLT)

“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you.” (Jeremiah 1:5 MSG)

From the very beginning of my Life(the thought) of me was and is for me to live a life of victory!! The Lord has written out my story, He is the Author of my book. Salvation has been for me from the very first day that I took in His breath of Life into my lungs. Him in me, His Strength in me. I Am is Alive in me. He Is the very core of my being! For my name has been written in the Book of Life from the very beginning, and it’s where I plan to stay!!

  3. Talking to God fresh in the morning is very reassuring and its nice to know that God is on my side.
The psalmist pretty well sums up everything that I feel too in my heart.
Thank you God for Your Word this morning fresh and new.
Thank you Jesus for hearing my prayers this morning. You are always going to be the First in my life.

6 When their judges are overthrown to stony places, they shall hear my words: for they are sweet.

  4. We can run but we can’t hide is what the psalmist said, the Lord knows everything and sees everything. He knows our intentions, even before we act. Lord I want to be the vessel that you wish me to be. I glorify your Holy name Lord, use me to reach the lost souls that curse your Holy name. I praise you Lord now and forever.

  5. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

On our quest, called life, we must realize that just because our actions are propper doesn’t mean we are correct. We must remember that our hearts are led by feelings, which can so easily deceive us, and out thoughts, our motives might not be as they should. Many times we follow our feelings, or let impure motives lead us, even though we shouldn’t.

I must keep a clean heart. I must keep pure and holy motives. I must be right for the right reasons.

  6. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Lord, show me where I am wrong and help me better live for you.

    Psalm 51:9-12 (KJV)
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. [10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. [11] Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. [12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

  7. Psalms 139:23
Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts:

The word try means to test and learn the genuineness of an object, fig. of assaying a metal to determine its purity or nature.

Our thoughts are revealed when we go through fiery trials. These melt us, and cause our impurities to rise so we can be cleaned, and purified.

    1 Peter 4:12
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

The words fiery trial are from the one word pyrosis which means burning, conflagration, a fiery test of trying circumstances, calamities or trials that test the character.

The key is attitude. We shouldn’t be shocked when things happen but rather recognize why it is here. When we do this God makes us partakers of a wonderful promise.

    1 Peter 4:13
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

If you don’t give up you’ll grow up and then go up

  8. You may run, but you can’t hide.

There is not a place on this earth that you may run to and hide from God. He knows your beginning and He knows your end. He can see into the darkness of the night as if was bright as day. He formed you when you were in your mothers womb. Knowing all this there are still those who try to run. They try as hard as they can to hide from God; but none of their actions are hidden in His eyes.

21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

This scripture is missed used sometimes by some religions that preach hate. We are not directed to hate the sinner but their sin. As you see in Matt 12:30 He has called us to be gatherers, in little words, bring them back to the light of God. We are not to love their actions and the way to act but it is through our love and compassion that they may see Jesus first hand. Now, with that said, we are allow to hate satan with all our hearts, for he is the origin of sin and death.

Matt 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Be in the winning team, join Jesus and His love everlasting.

  9. ILove to eat the Word

    He Loves Me

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Jesus love us and thinks about us and his thoughts are as numerous as the sand of the sea…this is amazing. He knows every hair upon our head and knows what we’re going to say before we say it.

    We have a great God!

  10. LOOK A LITTLE DEEPER LORD

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

So often we feel that we have “gotten by” with something, we did something wrong or sinful and it went unnoticed. This is impossible with GOD. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. GOD already knows. We cannot hide sinful thoughts, feelings or lust from the LORD.

The psalmist acknowledges the fact that GOD already knows the external actions of his life.
1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

However in our text we read his request for the LORD to LOOK A LITTLE DEEPER. GOD created us from his own creative nature and knows everything about us. However GOD is not a control freak and thus why so many people choose not to serve him. Through his kindness he allows man the power of choice. Therefore we must give him permission to search us deeper, not for his knowledge, he already knows, but for our own conviction and opportunity for correction.

    NOW

Allow GOD today examine your thoughts and ask HIM to search you. He may find something in us that we are unable to identify. He may also be able to identify a potential deadly problem before it becomes a part of our life.

  11. 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

He is the all knowing God! My prayer today and all days are that He would lead me through this life, hand in hand. We must learn to trust Him in all in His ways. As it has been said,” His ways are above our ways.”

  12. Verses 1-6 MSG:

    “God, investigate my life;
    get all the facts firsthand.
    I’m an open book to you;
even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking.
    You know when I leave and when I get back;
I’m never out of your sight.
You know everything I’m going to say
before I start the first sentence.
I look behind me and you’re there,
then up ahead and you’re there, too—
your reassuring presence, coming and going.
This is too much, too wonderful—
I can’t take it all in!”

God is always with me. His reassuring presence is guiding me, protecting me, and leading me to eternal life.

  13. This chapter illustrates incomparable. There is no where one can go, or nothing one can do that God (Jesus) is not aware of. As such one would be wise to be mindful before doing, speaking or thinking; “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  14. 23 Search me, O God, and knowmy heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Search me Oh God and lead me!

  15. David meditates on the omniscience omnipresence and ommipotence of God. He then applies these truths to the wicked whom calls on God to slay and to himself whom he calls on God to examine and to lead

  16. Church and praise go hand in hand.
Some churches want new believers to get to know God but they dont want to do the work like pofw does they want u there but they dont want to follow up w them. Ive been going off in on to a spanish upci pentacostal church its close to where I live but Lord knows I go to be in His presence.
And be close to the King of Kings. But Lord, I give up!
I cant do this too much more.
Im going to follow You Jesus and go where Im accepted.
In Jesus Name a true worshipper of Christ.
Please keep my husband in yalls prayers he in hosp and very sick and disoriented.i love Jesus and yall too.thank u debbie vandeventer

  17. Cont Eph 1:13
In whom ye also trusted after afterthat they heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation in whom also after that ye believed ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

  18. A prayer for God to examine the heart and see its true devotion. Like Job, the author firmly claims his loyalty to the Lord.Nowhere (outside Job) does one find expressed such profound awareness of how awesome it is to ask God to examine not only one’s life but also his soul—
God, who knows every thought, word and deed, from whom there is no hiding, who has been privy even to one’s formation in the dark concealment of the womb.

  19. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
I LOVE YOU JESUS!!! I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION……. THAT I CAN RUN BUT I CAN’T HIDE!!! Hahahahaahah aha!!! I LOVE YOU JESUS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN MORE THAN GOOD TO ME!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU DADDY!!! GRACIAS PADRE!!! HALELUJAH!!! =D

    • 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

      9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

  20. 1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

I want to become so transparent with the Lord. He ultimately knows us inside and out, but I want to “think” that I have hid something from Him. I want Him to have open reign to speak, move, deal with me in whatever manner He sees fit.

  21. 1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

He knows us better than we know ourselves. That’s why we have to listen to him.

  22. Wow. These scriptures have seen me through a lot!

When I was younger I was told some horrible things by a member of my extended family. When you hear lies every day, you start to believe them even when you start out knowing they are wrong. These things that I was told made me question why I was here and of I should even stay.

This particular chapter was of good use at that time. It made me think about God choosing me specifically for my family.

I thank God that as a teenager I was teaching a Bible Study. That is what got me out of that horribly dark time in my lace.

  23. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

When others reject you, hurt you, judge you wrongly, talk about you, etc, you can still cling to knowing God created *you* on purpose. He didn’t have to give you breath, but He did so because He desired relationship with *you.* He knew we wouldn’t be perfect but He wanted you anyway. How amazing is that?

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. (Jeremiah 29:11-14 KJV)

  24. I spoke too soon.
I know God loves me and i will wait on Him.
Thank u Jesus for having godly people all around me that loves me cause they love You Jesus. I praise your Name no matter where I go to worship You.

  25. 1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

  26. My desire is to run to his presence and be with his spirit……”Don’t Run Away”….”Run to God”……………….

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

    “NOW”………………………………

  27. Our Omniscient God

In our moments of same and insecurity, we may doubt that there is really such a thing as unconditional love. Sometimes we spend enormous amounts of energy trying to hide our “true self” from probing eyes of the God who creates us we are both completely known and unconditionally loved. There is absolutely nothing about us that God doesn’t already know; therefore nothing we can think or do can surprise him or cause him to abandon us.It is recorded time and again of our disobedience and turning away from God, He never turned on us. He’s constantly thinking about us- with love. Because of the unflinching, undying, devotion he has for us, heis committed to searching our hearts and revealing to us”any offensive way” (vs24) so we can walk a straight path paved by Jesus toward our eternal home. He calls to us through his prophets like Jer 7:13 “While you were doing these wicked things, says the LORD, I spoke to you about it repeatedly, but you would not listen. I called out to you, but you refused to answer.” When we don’t repent we step out of our covering, and become our Lord’s enemy, and counted among the wicked who will endure his wrath. In his judgment he will correct us, for he corrects those he loves (Rev 3:19). I am reminded of what Paul wrote in Ro 8: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We are protected by His all-knowing power!

  28. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

The God that knows it all has all power and is everywhere will not leave me. I must remind myself of this when I feel that He is not there. He knows me. Right now perhaps even to myself I am known in part, but God knows me, knows everything about me…and at the same time, with all respect and like a gentleman he asks for my permission to come into my heart. He knocks and presents himself as Perfect Love and knocks at the door if my heart. Knows everything about me, but will I let Him be the center if my life. Search me oh Lord…bring to light all the dark areas of my life, correct me as needed, guide me, and make me to follow you. Let your thoughts be my thoughts, let me have your mind, the mind of Christ. Know me even more and make me more like You…in Jesus name

  29. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

I want God and my pastor to search in me and teach me on right from wrong
