What are YOU talking about?

I felt a strong need to use this platform to teach a lesson about a “Revival killer” named gossip. Paul teaches us in the Ephesian epistle what to talk about.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Here at The Pentecostals we have been BLESSED abundantly with the favor of GOD and the GRACE of GOD. We have so much to be THANKFUL for and so much GOOD to talk about, to edify and not tear down. I pray we continue to flow in the abundance of the GRACE of GOD and his FAVOR and not get caught up in talking about the latest news about so and so and who and who and what and what.

Please examine your conversations whether they be by personal contact, phone call, text message, Facebook, twitter or email.

Lets promote GOD and UNITY and forsake gossip and division.

Gossip – a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others
2 a : rumor or report of an intimate nature b : a chatty talk c : the subject matter of gossip.

Slander1 : the utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another’s reputation. 2 : a false and defamatory oral statement about a person

Proverbs 10:17 People who listen when they are corrected will live, but those who will not admit that they are wrong are in danger.

18 A man who hides his hatred is a liar. Anyone who spreads gossip is a fool.

19 The more you talk, the more likely you are to sin. If you are wise, you will keep quiet. TEV

Proverbs 16:28 Gossip is spread by wicked people; they stir up trouble and break up friendships. TEV

Proverbs 18:7 When a fool speaks, he is ruining himself; he gets caught in the trap of his own words.

8 Gossip is so tasty — how we love to swallow it! TEV

Proverbs 20:19 A gossip can never keep a secret. Stay away from people who talk too much.

20 If you curse your parents, your life will end like a lamp that goes out in the dark.TEV

Proverbs 25:23 Gossip brings anger just as surely as the north wind brings rain. TEV

Proverbs 26:17 Getting involved in an argument that is none of your business is like going down the street and grabbing a dog by the ears.

18 A man who tricks someone and then claims that he was only joking is like a crazy man playing with a deadly weapon.

20 Without wood, a fire goes out; without gossip , quarreling stops.

21 Charcoal keeps the embers glowing, wood keeps the fire burning, and troublemakers keep arguments alive.

22 Gossip is so tasty! How we love to swallow it!

23 Insincere talk that hides what you are really thinking is like a fine glaze on a cheap clay pot.

24 A hypocrite hides his hate behind flattering words. 25 They may sound fine, but don’t believe him, because his heart is filled to the brim with hate. 26 He may disguise his hatred, but everyone will see the evil things he does.

27 People who set traps for others get caught themselves. People who start landslides get crushed.

28 You have to hate someone to want to hurt him with lies. Insincere talk brings nothing but ruin. TEV

Please feel free to add to or comment:

Bless you!

Have a GOOD day!

  4. Very indepth! Showed me some things in my life. Thank you Pastor! I pray that God will show all of us things in our lives through this that we may apply this in our lives. I pray that God will open my understanding to this even futher.

  5. Psalms 133:1 ends with an exclamation point. This tells me that unity in the church is something that is extremely exciting !

  6. I thank you for this blog

I think we ALL need to bite our big fat tongues!

There are no exemptions, everyone of us have fallen short. Let the King of Kings reveal to each of us each time we fall victim and let each of us repent!

  7. Thank God for his shared wisdom through the word today. We all have to make sure that our conversations glorify him and give life unto his children. We cannot slay his children with our words and expect him to keep blessing us. He does have a rod if we need it. I’m thankful for his mercy. If we all got what we deserved we would all be in trouble. The sure way to kill gossip is to refuse to talk about it. We have to protect our church family. I know that my natural family will turn their backs on you then you only have your church to look to. Most of the time we as the church are all we got. Let us edify one another and protect our testimonies. In Jesus Name

  8. Thank you Pastor, I think we all needed this Word. Nobody wants to be a revival killer I pray we all learn from this and keep our conversations about Jesus and the GOOD things about what’s going on in the church.

A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.”

  13. Thank you for this word. Nobody should want to hurt anyone with their tongues, I know I wouldn’t. Gossip is a horrible thing, there’s gossip everywhere and it can hurt…I know from experience..I was hurt. So knowing how it feels, I wouldn’t want to do it to anyone to get hurt..and I will stop who ever does and stay away from those who won’t stop
