Proverbs 2

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

  1. The Lord is still on this earth
    He reighns for ever. Follow Jesus and He will direct all the paths necessary.
    Follow means to walk after someone or something.
    I choose to follow Jesus.
    Thank u Jesus

    PSALM 28:3~
    3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischeif is their hearts. .

  2. Following the direction and commandments of a father and especially our heavenly Father, our lives are so much better.

  3. The answer to the question WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME????

    This are the rewards according the actions you decide to take:

    21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

    22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

    Yes, it is that simple. The word of God is simple and to the point. There are no hidden messages or any tricks. It is black and white you choose a froward path you burn, you choose wisdom you live and will be given the land and the richness of it.

  4. 10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

    The GOD of the Pentecostals of Fort Worth is so awesome, notice how Solomon wrote wisdom enters into our heart. How important is wisdom being in our heart, knowing the right thing to do at the right time, the right words, etc. Knowledge is pleasant, I surely want more knowledge, I think knowledge is one of the greatest tools we can use against the enemy of our souls. When we can say that knowledge is pleasant to us, in other words we enjoy, let our joy show, that knowledge is a great blessing to us!!
    This brings us to being preserved which discretion will do, but not without wisdom and knowledge leading us everyday with a true understanding of what the WILL OF GOD is for us today and everyday of our lives.
    I am not looking for a position, but the WILL OF GOD, is so important to me. I have found the only way for comfort even in a trial is to be in God’s WILL. I must be where God wants me to be and do what God wants me to do!!

    When it all is over will the LORD say well done thou good and faithful servant!!!!

    I am sure that I want wisdom, to lead me and knowledge to show me and preserve me through understanding of God and his word.

    Let me say here many people misunderstand the man of God, when he does not say or do what they think is right, but remember he hears from GOD for all of us here at POFW and has to lead accordingly. When we misunderstand God’s man that means we misunderstand God.

    My prayer everyday is Jesus bless the Pastor where he can lead me to that rock that is higher than I.

    GOD BLESS PASTOR WATTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Psalm2:6
    For The Lord giveth wisdom:out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
    ———-
    WISDOM is everything!
    – So he who reads the bible everyday is wise….
    In the BEGINING was the WORD, and the word was with GOD, and the word was God.
    ——-I must listen to God daily, and obey him, doing that I will be learning his wisdom, learning to discern, and knowing right from wrong , wich all that is, learning to be wise:
    – we will take right decisions
    – we will say the right thing, at the right time
    – we will know who to follow
    -We will know what voice to listen to….
    -we will worship more
    -we will learn not to judge and so and so…..

    Thank you GOD for Wisdom this morning, in Jesus name, AMEN!

  6. Proverbs 2:6-7 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous.

    God promise to lay up sound wisdom for the riighteous so they will understand how He wants us to live and thereby bring glory to His name. If I choose between giving my child knowledge or wisdom, I would choose to give them an understanding of the wisdom that comes from Him.

  7. Whatcha looking for?

    Cry out for wisdom, and beg for understanding. Search for it like silver, and hunt for it like hidden treasure. (Proverbs 2:3, 4 NCV)

    To cry for wisdom and understanding we (I) must remain to have a teachable spirit.

  8. ILove to eat the Word

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    Seek

    Verb baw-kash’
    a primitive root
    a primitive root; to search out (by any method, specifically in worship or prayer); by implication, to strive after:-

    The true way to seek is to worship and pray.

  9. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5 KJV)
    I was thinking the other day while I was at work, how much time do I spend my time with God, in His Word, and in prayer. I was very disappointed to find out that within 24 hours that we have in a day I spend:
    1. 14 hrs. Working a day
    2. 5 hrs. Sleeping
    3. 3 hrs. Working at home
    4. 2 hrs. With The Lord
    I can honestly say my priorities are wrong!!
    I had to repent. Yes I wake up in the morning to pray, I read the bible, I praise and worship God throughout the day…it’s not enough!! As much time I put into working is a much time I should be spending with my Lord.thats where my hidden treasures should be!!

  10. DECISIONS, DECISIONS

    10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

    There are 4 attributes identified in these 2 verses that have had great influence in my Spiritual life for over 20 years. One night in a Prayer meeting over 20 years ago, Sis. Fielding came to me with a word from the LORD about these 2 verses. That I needed to learn and practice these 4 attributes of life for success in HIS Kingdom.

    Wisdom – a : accumulated learning : knowledge
    b : ability to discern inner qualities and relationships : insight
    c : good sense. The application of knowledge.

    Knowledge – the fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association

    Discretion – 1: the quality of having or showing discernment or good judgment : the quality of being discreet : circumspection; especially : cautious reserve in speech. 2: ability to make responsible decisions

    Understanding – 1: a mental grasp : comprehension
    2a : the power of comprehending; especially : the capacity to apprehend general relations of particulars
    b : the power to make experience intelligible by applying concepts and categories

    These 4 fiends are the process to success in any situation.

    Pray for WISDOM
    James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

    Gain Knowledge
    Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

    Exercise Discretion
    Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. (Choose your battles wisely)

    Seek Understanding
    Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

    The BENEFITS:
    Ezekiel 28:4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive

    NOW

  11. 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
    6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    “Wisdom is knowlegde put into action,”is what was said to me many years ago. This morning as I was praying the Holy Spirit impressed on me a thought. That is this. ” A teacher teaches. A student listens. But, it is up to the student on weither or not they learn. A teachers job is to convey all the knowlegde for that particular lesson, and yet it is the students responsibltiy for the learning. When a student says,’I did not learn anything from that teacher.’ More offten than not it was the student not responding to the lesson, ‘in their own little world’.” My prayer today is that we would make it a point everyday to open our hearts a learn for the Creator of everything, and let’s see what we just might learn. Knowledge is power, Power comes from the Holy Ghost which is God!

  12. MSG:
    9-15 So now you can pick out what’s true and fair,
    find all the good trails!
    Lady Wisdom will be your close friend,
    and Brother Knowledge your pleasant companion.
    Good Sense will scout ahead for danger,
    Insight will keep an eye out for you.
    They’ll keep you from making wrong turns,
    or following the bad directions
    Of those who are lost themselves
    and can’t tell a trail from a tumbleweed,
    These losers who make a game of evil
    and throw parties to celebrate perversity,
    Traveling paths that go nowhere,
    wandering in a maze of detours and dead ends.
    16-19 Wise friends will rescue you from the Temptress—
    that smooth-talking Seductress
    Who’s faithless to the husband she married years ago,
    never gave a second thought to her promises before God.
    Her whole way of life is doomed;
    every step she takes brings her closer to hell.
    No one who joins her company ever comes back,
    ever sets foot on the path to real living.
    20-22 So—join the company of good men and women,
    keep your feet on the tried-and-true paths.
    It’s the men who walk straight who will settle this land,
    the women with integrity who will last here.
    The corrupt will lose their lives;
    the dishonest will be gone for good.

  13. NLT–Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, 16 from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman. She has abandoned her husband 17 and ignores the covenant she made before God. Entering her house leads to death; 18 it is the road to the grave. [b] The man who visits her is doomed. 19 He will never reach the paths of life.

    Perfect verses after last night’s Bible study. This goes both ways for men or women. It’s worth the wait! And have everlasting life…

  14. 10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

    Discretion is the ability to make the right decision. It is about having the right intent, and guarding the heart. Discretion is necessary in this life.

    The precursor to discretion is a love for the word of God. Jesus said people will know we love him if we keep his commandments.

    Application of the word shows it is in our heart, and pleasant to our soul.

    The precursor to this is the reverent respect of the Lord.

    When we get the attitude right everything else will fall in line.

    Psalm 111:10 The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and skill [the preceding and the first essential, the prerequisite and the alphabet]; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do [the will of the Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever.

  15. This chapter illustrates direction. The path and where to find wisdom is provided; “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding”. One can find wisdom in the Word of God (Jesus), and one can also find direction by hearing (preaching) the Word. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. v6For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    To know GOD begins with submission and humility . HIS SPIRIT flows down to the lowly and the submissive . As Pastor taught “There is a place, and that place in GOD Is called prayer. Where knowledge is gained in HIS presence . The benefits of knowing GOD
    A place where we can enjoy HIS friendship, intimacy, a closeness and a shared confidence .

    iPray
    iPraise

  17. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    Receive, hide, incline, apply, criest, liftest up thy voice, seekest…all these are actions on our part required for us to find the wisdome and knowledge of God. If we will, He will.

  18. God gives us all the ability to learn of his ways, to obey his commandments and to honor him. It’s up to us to apply them into our lives. The enemy will try to kill, still and destroy the relationship we have with God. But if we have the wisdom, knowledge and understand that God gives us we will know what to do. We can cast the devil in the name of the Lord, but we can only do this if we ask God to protect us from the enemy. Lord teach me of your ways, that I will apply them to my life to make a difference. I want to be your faithful servant now and forever. Use me and guide me to do your mighty will. You know what’s in my heart Lord I love to serve you. May your will be done.

  19. The hide and seek of God’s word

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    LOOK! That is what God wants us to do! He wants us to look in his word for answers, understanding, wisdom, and knowledge. He will reveal those things to us in his word. (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1 KJV)). Hey, that means that when we read the word we are with God. We are putting God into us. When we speak the word we are speaking the words of God to those around us! We have the ability to be with God all day through his word.

    Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7 KJV)

    When we play hide and seek with God he is always there when we look for him. God is always in the same place, like The pastor who said their child always hid on the stairs. The little joys for us are the new revelations we get when we “play” this hide and seek with God. New revelations of him and who he is are what we should long for. We have the promise in Matthew that God will be found IF WE LOOK FOR HIM!!!!!

    LOOK EARLY AND LOOK OFTEN!!!!!! AMEN

  20. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    What a prescription! We see here that if we receive His words, keep His commandments,listen to wisdom, seek understanding, pray for knowledge, and pray for understanding, and do this with a fervent sincerity, then we truly fear th Lord, and we will find the knowledge from God…

  21. ;

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures

    in the Hunt

    What am i searching for? The word here says IF I seek her as silver and search for her as hidden treasure….IF

    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    My understanding is directly contengent upon my hunt. I dont understand because i dont hunt. A man that doesnt hunt doesnt eat. If your hungry enough you will do what you got to do to eat. How desperate are we really for this daily bread? Do we really understand that without it we will soon perish? Are we eating just enough to barely make it? hanging on by a morcel? I want to be fat in the Lord and eat a hansome meal every day with him. I sometimes settle for table scraps when I could be eating with the King.

    Examine my hunt Jesus

  22. 6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

    7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

    The wisdom of God is gives us protection from the sin of this world.

  23. Receive his words, and obey his commandments they are a light for your soul. “Thine Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” It will shine a way out of your circumstances. The Bible is like a treasure chest, and remember the wisdom of the farmer who sowed multiple seeds. He grew a great crop, with a plentiful harvest. Just planting one seed a week isn’t enough for a great harvest. Sow a multiple seeds harvest, each day, or each week, expecting a multiple harvest for many different things, such as; finances, healings, salvations, family, wisdom, restoration, and much more. “Sow sparingly, reap sparingly”. Remember, the seed is the word, so sow muliple seeds into your heart and life. Reap a multiple harvest, and bless God, and believe in faith, with love, and have an expectancy of a multiple harvest. His Word (treasure/seed), planted in your chest (treasure chest/heart), (Word/Jesus Christ),…….Receive the Word Made Flesh into your heart (treasure chest), Hummm…….Receive his Word……”Now”…..

    “Thine Word, have I hid in my heart”………………….

  24. 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

    13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

    The wicked had to start on righteous paths in order to leave them; you can’t leave where you never were. Just because you started somewhere doesn’t mean that’s where you stay. Each day is new, each step is a choice, and we can use them for good or bad regardless of the previous. “Working for God” has no job security with the flesh involved; you can bless one minute and curse the next. It takes relationship with Him in order to capture our hearts and then our actions as a result.

    Having the indwelling power of God doesn’t make us holy if we won’t let it be active. “I’ll lead myself for good and God’s power will make it happen.” Sorry, man doesn’t do well leading himself. You think everyone out in the world intends to do bad? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us into all truth, but we don’t get that ALL truth part until we step away from the controls. We can have a measure of right living in our own reasoning. Do you know how many good people there are that aren’t born again? But we can never attain true righteousness until it is God living in and through us. Our choice should be to let God lead and teach us how to be led. We must not lean to our own understanding but rather seek God’s.

  25. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

    2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

    3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

    4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    Some phrases that stood out to me: “if thou wilt receive”. His Word like His love mercy and grace is freely given to us. His word is what leads us and gives us life, but it is for us to choose to receive. “and hide my commandments with thee”. An action to keep safeguard His commandments. “cry for knowledge and lift up the voice for understanding”. This reminded me of when a little baby is discontent about something, more than likely is because the baby is hungry. So, the baby will cry and get louder if his needs aren’t met. He will desire it and will make the noise to get the attention of the patent that can provide/satisfy the need. Wow, it’s like tellings us to desperately yearn for knowledge and understanding..!
    “seek for her as silver, search for her as HUD treasures”. Proverbs 1:7 says that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord…this also reminds me of the scripture to search the word of God: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39

    We get all these “ifs” and finally in verse 5 the “then” shal we understand the fear of the Lord and find knowledge of God.
    Receive
    Hide
    Incline
    Apply
    Cry
    Lift up
    Seek
    Search
    All are action verbs which talks to me abou a continual pursuit for the knowledge of God. Oh that we may Know Him…

  26. 21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

    22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

  27. 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
    12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

    The evil man will try to take you out of the will of God. It is vert important to follow all the commandments of God. This will help shield your mind from the evil man.

  28. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
    8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
    9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
    10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
    11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
    12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
    21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

    Getting understanding and wisdom has many benefits thats i rather be not without. This word is good feels like if god was speaking into my ear communication that reaches my mind and enters my heart.

  29. My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. (Proverbs 2:1-4 NLT)

    I need to seek You more God….I wanna know more….I wanna do more…I want more of you God

  30. Folly As A Woman
    Pr 2:16-19

    Following the ways of wisdom protects its adherents from “wicked men” and their perverse and crooked ways (Pr 2:12-15). But the ways of wisdom can also provide protection against the “adulteress” (Pr 2:16), literally “stranger” or “foreigner”. She is a married woman who has forgotten her marriage vows and will work her seductions on anyone who is foolish enough to give her attention. Her appeal is subtle and alluring (Pr 7:14-21), following her will only bring disaster. In a culture as permissive and pervasively sexual as ours is today, following Lady Folly around rather than Lady Wisdom is as seductive and disastrous a course as it was in Biblical times. The wiles of the devil are not new, put on the full armor of God, resist the enemy and he will flee. The way to her house still leads “down to death.” (Pr 2:18), the death of marriages, faithfulness and trust. “All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield.” (Ps 115:11).

  31. 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

    5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

    6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding

    Oh to have that understanding… When I read this portion it reminds me of how a man should view a woman

  32. Verses 1-5 CEV:
    “My child, you must follow
    and treasure
    my teachings
    and my instructions.
    Keep in tune with wisdom
    and think what it means
    to have common sense.
    Beg as loud as you can
    for good common sense.
    Search for wisdom
    as you would search for silver
    or hidden treasure.
    Then you will understand
    what it means to respect
    and to know the Lord God.”

    Matthew 6:21 CEV “Your heart will always be where your treasure is.”
