Proverbs 3

1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction:

12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.

20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.

30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

32 For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.

33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

  1. Very good message Lord.

I appreciate when the Lord loves me and corrects me this is one of the reasons why I love going to church so I can be set free from doing things my way and follow God’s ways. To follow Him and keep my eyes on Him and the people that need resurrection power in thier lives, and not be ashamed of the truth of the gospel.
Thank you Jesus(God), for allowing me grace each day. Thank you for a faithful church(pofw) that desciples us and prays for everyone teaches us to read God’s Word(blog).
    We are truly blessed.

  2. PSALM 16:11.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  3. 13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

    Matthew 7:7-8 KJV
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

We won’t find what we’re not looking for.

Lord, I seek wisdom & understanding from You because Your Word promises that if I seek, I shall find and I know You are faithful concerning Your promises. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  4. IN EVERYTHING

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

People quote verse 5 and 6 all the time but have you taken them separate? I always liked verse 6 In all thy ways… everything from how should I brush my hair… to what should I wear today Lord… In EVERYTHING He shall direct my path; but for Him to direct it I must first ask for direction. Not only on the difficult stuff but IN EVERYTHING. Some people don’t understand submission but if they only knew what level of protection comes from it, the covering, the blessing, and how liberating it is; for when you submit, you are acknowledging His power. You are humbling saying Lord I trust you got everything in your hands things in heaven and on earth, and I know you will work things out in my favor at the end. He gave us the VICTORY, so no matter what comes your way if you are under HIS will, guess what? YOU WIN!!!!!

  5. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

I’m thankful for my Heritage of Truth! On this Mothe’rs Day I honor to my Grandmother, my Godly example, introducing me to truth and walking in His way. As a mother, I want to pass this heritage of truth on in my example to those that come after me. I don’t want to ever forsake truth, or allow deception to take over my heart. I must keep sound wisdom that I continue to walk in truth. Truth must be written on the table of my heart that I will not sin against the Lord! This is my prayer today as a Mother!

  6. 13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

We should continually seek wisdom and understanding. As we gain in both wisdom and understanding, God will bless us and allow us to reach more souls all across this region for Him..

  7. 1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Mmmmm Holy Ghost Breakfast time with Jesus! All the answers to lifes questions are not found in a book in the middle of the ocean, but rather in a book called the Bible. In vs. 3 we see that if we hold on to mercy and truth we will then have found favor and understanding. As the old saying goes,” The truth will set you free!” This statement is very true, yet many people don’t want to think that thjey will still have to pay for their deeds they already committed. Can’t do the time ;don’t do the crime! But we find favor and understanding in not only the sight of God but man too. This is a testimony to the power of God, due to that the favor of God will get you places anywhere you go, and the favor of man will help you in the life on earth as well. Trust God and not what we perceive as the right thing. This heart is made of flesh therefore is corrupted from the time of the first sin until the return of Jesus. We must acknowledge God’s ways. Which means learn and LISTEN to what he has to say. I mean he is the one who created everything; I think he just might know a little something about stuff. Besides that, He will direct your path if we are willing to follow his path for our lives.

  8. v11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD: neither be weary of his correction:
v12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

If GOD calls us HIS children, then we should believe it and live as HIS children despise neither be weary of HIS correction . This kind of relationship brings with it all the riches and power of heaven.( my personal feeling i think it delights our HEAVENLY FATHER .)

  9. iTithe and iGive Firstfruit

9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

    Honor God with everything you own;
give him the first and the best.
    Your barns will burst,
your wine vats will brim over. MSG

9 Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce.
10 Then he will fill your barns with grain,
and your vats will overflow with good wine. NLT

Firstfruit – 7225. ray-sheeth´; the first, in place, time, order or rank (specifically, a firstfruit):—beginning, chief(-est), first(-fruits, part, time), principal thing.

Honor – a showing of usually merited respect : recognition

What is the difference between the firstfruits mentioned in Proverbs 3:9 and the tithe?

Proverbs 3:9: Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase.

Tithe means tenth. It is the first 10% of our income that we give to the Lord. If I make $1,000, my tithe would be $100. I don’t need to pray about what a tithe is. It is a defined amount of money. A firstfruits offering is the first of an undetermined amount because you don’t know how much there is going to be. In the Old Testament it was a different type of offering than the tithe. The firstfruits was a type of offering that was required under the law.

The tithe can only be given after one has received the full amount to be tithed off of. The firstfruits is exactly what it says – the firstfruits. They would give the first calf or lamb born of its mother, the first harvest of grain or fruit of the vine, the first city of conquest, etc. You couldn’t give a percentage at this point because you wouldn’t know what the total harvest/number of calves would be. So the first one would go to the Lord. You measure the tithe on the back end but you can’t do that with the firstfruits so they were required to bring the firstfruits at the front end.

Today, for example, business owners will often put their first dollar in a frame on the wall, but the firstfruits doesn’t go on the wall, it goes to the Lord. Today it could be the first sale in a new business or the first paycheck of a new job, for example.

This is the KEY to abundant BLESSING!

  10. My son, do not despise or shrink from the chastening of the Lord [His correction by punishment or by subjection to suffering or trial]; neither be weary of or impatient about or loathe or abhor His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. (Proverbs 3:11, 12 AMP)
Many times we run from the chastening of The Lord because of pride, fear, or because we don’t understand how to react to it. So we come to think that we are ok if we’re just left alone to try to figure things out on our own. But The Lord knows how to correct us, only if we can truly just TRUST HIM. We wouldn’t have to face many hardships in life. Yes His chastisement may hurt for a season, but I’d rather learn now than to pay for my own mistakes down the road (spiritually).

  11. Proverbs3:3 Let not mercy and thrush forsake thee: bind them around your neck;write them upon the table of thine heart.
( put on the belt of truth!!!)
    We ought to:
    Love the truth
    Speak the truth
Listen to the truth( word of GOD)
    Live the truth
    Share the truth…..
We all do acts of mercy, but I believe I am living a season to where God is teaching me “mercy” by having oportunities to show,to apply it. I think mercy is more than than
I connect mercy with LOVE-and GOD is LOVE
    MERCY-MERCY-MERCY…….

I will obey GOD and leave all the concecuences to HIM!
In Jesus name, cause when I am weak then I am strong.
I can do all things through CHRIST who
    Strengthens me.

Happy Mother’s Day!!!!. To all the ladies.

THANK YOU GOD FOR YOUR FRESH AND NEW MERCY TODAY!AND ALWAYS….

  12. 1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

We can listen to preaching and read the bible all we want but if our heart doesn’t revive it.. Have we really even heard it. When we find wisdom, when we hear and learn God’s Word we must hold onto it and place it in our heart’s. We can hear and not listen all day. That’s why we need ears to hear and eyes to see. When we hear Pastor talk about God’s Word and commandments are we truly listening. Are we putting his word in our heart’s. His law and commandments are the guidelines to get to heaven, why forsake them? That is our road map on the way of righteousness toward his throne.. Let’s do all we can to stay on the right track and not Get lost

    • So true, we can have eyes and see not and ears and hear not we must use the senses God gave us for the spirit of God to speak to us through the word of the MAN OF GOD.

  13. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Somethings I will never understand or agree with, but I will seek peace and comfort from the lord

  14. This chapter illustrates insight. Understanding of how God (Jesus) views it, is all that matters; “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil”. One that seeks wisdom will be concerned with what sayeth the Lord; “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  15. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

To me this chapter has so much insight into wisdom, and how to go about the “right” way or paths in life. What catches my attention is recognition. To recognize who is in control, who has all power and who really has ones life in your place. To acknowledge and surrender one’s life to the direction of the Lord.

  16. The basic wisdom issues touched up in proverbs have to do with personal relationship with God. Only if we know him and respond to him will the rest of the counsel in this book produce fruit

  17. ILove to eat the Word

18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

If you want to be happy, lay hold onto wisdom!

  18. 5 Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. 6 Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. 7 Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! MSG

Who are you putting your trust in? Put your trust in God. Man will let you down but God will be there for you. In everything you do listen for God’s voice and see if he is telling you that you shouldn’t do that or there is someone there that you need to witness to. Don’t have the attitude that you know everything the only one that knows all is GOD!!!

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. KJV Proverbs 16:18
This is the kind of thing that happens when you have the I know it all attitude. I wanna be able to run to God and God be there waiting for me to help me and lead and guide me.

  19. Which way will you fall?

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

When we trust in our own understanding we fall on our own. Who is going to pick you up? When we trust God then not only do we fall on God and his grace, but we also have someone to pick us up and walk with us. He will never leave or foresake me.

My understanding lacks. God knows all and grants all wisdom and understanding. Falling into God because I lean on his understand just makes sense.

You fall the way you lean. Which way do you lean?

  20. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths
HALELUJAH!!! IN ALL THY WAYS!!! ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS!!! WE WILL SEE HOW HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO DIRECT OUR PATHS!!! BUT IN ALL OUR WAYS!!! NOT JUST IN SOME AREAS OF OUR LIVES!!! BUT IN ALL WE THINK TO DO, IN ALLLLL WE WANT TO DO, ALL WE WANT TO BE, EVEN IN PURCHASES, IN RELATIONSHIPS , IN HOW WE DRESS AND YES EVEN IN WHAT TO EAT……. WITH ALL THAT SAID WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT IF WE ACKNOWLEDGE HIM IN ALL OUR WAYS THEN WE TRULY DO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ONE AND ONLY JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!

  21. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Fear of the lord is healthy for your relationship with god and strenght to your weakness.

  22. Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. (Proverbs 3:3 NLT)
    Always keep a smile 🙂

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NLT)
I’ve gotta keep seeking and listen and of course I have to be patient

  23. Down To The Brass Tacks
    vs 27-31

Solomon’s discourse has so far covered the personal and spiritual benefits of acquiring wisdom. For example, the wise will enjoy God’s protection (Pr 1:33), long life and prosperity (Pr 3:2) and a good reputation (Pr 3:4). But here the teacher gets down to the brass tacks: the nitty gritty o how to get along other people. The implication could be that even the most knowledgeable person can demonstrate a lack of wisdom in how he or she deals with others. These verses are the first of many that clearly spell out good rules to live by: be generous, be a good neighbor, be fair, be gentle. The book of Proverbs is full of practical nuggets of wisdom we can carry into our everyday life. The Word is ever needed and never changes: just like our need for Jesus: yesterday, today and forever.

  24. 1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Knowing the wisdom of God and obeying it brings us the blessings of God written in this chapter.Knowing the truth of his word brings liberty from satan’s powerful deceptions- decptions which can’t be recognized without the light his word & truth brings.

  25. Trust God when you are going through life changing experiences. To have common sense and applying them is what is being said, if you know right from wrong and from your left hand and your right hand then you have started off with the common sense and let God lead you and protect you and your family from all wicked and evil. Trust God, have faith in him, follow and obey his commandments. God blesses those that honor him and is kind to those that humble themselves.

  26. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

I believe many struggle with faith that we face aren’t so much in things we can’t picture ourselves possibly doing, rather it’s in things we imagine we could accomplish but under different circumstances. “I could defeat this illness if I could find the right doctor/medicine…” “I could get out of this bind if So-and-so stopped doing such-and-such…” “I could… I could…” We must stop blaming circumstances for holding *us* back and start realizing it’s not us anyhow but God, and we need faith in Him whether we’re as newly-freed slaves facing the whole Egyptian army or as a trained, experienced army facing a people of giants we aren’t “ready”
for but could imagine defeating if our circumstances were “better.”

We don’t need better circumstances, we need to engage our faith in God. We can’t expect to have victory as long as circumstances are our god. We must lean not to our own understanding and instead trust God 100%. What’s the key in this? Too often we let pieces of our heart get tangled up in the circumstances and even if we try, we can’t trust God completely because we don’t have all our heart left to give to Him. The Bible says to cast our cares upon Him; we must accept that we aren’t God and He is, and give Him our cares. It’s part of guarding our hearts.

God didn’t design us to bear our cares, and we get messed up when we do. Our heart begins to get shredded and tattered and the pieces get all tangled up in the cares. That point of pain and exhaustion is usually when we decide in our emotions to start the habit of casting our cares on Him, but it’s hard to when so much damage is already done. God must heal us and help us learned to surrender; casting our cares on Him can be not only difficult to learn but a process involving the renewing of deep parts of our mind. It’s so much easier to not wait until the situation gets critical but start when you can make a calm commitment to cast your cares on Him. Decisions made as an emotional response to pain have a way of lasting only about as long as the pain unless we’re willing to truly yield and surrender our way of doing things.

Leaning not to our own understanding means surrendering sensual perception and walking instead by faith in obedience to the Word. God is faithful, will we be faith-full as well and trust Him?

  27. 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

The Lord will be your confidence

  28. Verses 5-6 MSG “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.” Always be listening (that means we have to be quiet).

Verses 11-12 MSG “But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.” We must embrace and learn from correction.

Verse 27 MSG “Never walk away from someone who deserves help; your hand is God’s hand for that person.” Always be sensitive and let God use you to help a person in need, for you may be the one who needs help next.
