Proverbs 5

1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.

18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

  1. Better change!

    PROVERBS 5:22~23
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without instruction: and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Sins will make your thinking wrong and distorted into thinking “i have to be good before I go to church”
Get God and then be “good!”
Sins is not God’s ways but He will be waiting for one to repent and come back to Him.
    Thank you, Jesus!

  2. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
YES LORD I THANK YOU JESUS!!! FOR YOU ARE SO FAITHFUL!!! YOU SEE EVERYTHING EVEN THE SMALLEST DETAIL AND YES EVEN WHAT IS NOT SEEN BY THE NECKADE EYE !!! I LOVE YOU DADDY YOU ARE GREAT AND MIGHTY!!! FOR IF IT WASN’T FOR THE FEAR OF THE LORD……… HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  3. Sin seems fun and ok but in a little time you start seeing the death and darkness that is really is and how God is not not because he don’t take company with with sin.

  4. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
LEAVE EVERYTHING ASIDE AND LETS FOCUS ON JESUS!!! DISCERN!!! DISCERN!!! DISCERN!!! HAVE AN OBEDIENT HEART TO WHAT HIS WILL IS!!! YES JESUS I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! I THANK YOU JESUS!!! I PRAISE YOU DADDY!!!

  5. Faithfulness is imperative for salvation.

    Matthew 25:21
21– His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant:thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things:enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Whether to a spouse, family, church, work, and especially God faithfulness will keep up, and those around us.

Lack of faithfulness hurts many around us. When we are not there someone must carry the load. Unity and faithfulness go hand in hand to accomplish God’s will in every aspect of life.

Faithfulness doesn’t happen overnight, but it starts simply by doing the right thing everyday. After a long stretch of time we will see faithfulness.

  6. The Temptations of the world come dressed up in many ways.

The world will try tempting you with many things. Sure, they will flatter you, talk sweet to you, treat you like a king; but only in the beginning, once they have latch their claws on you they will suck the life and light right out of you. You see temptation is female, don’t ask me why for I don’t know, the one thing I do know is that my father always told me that the morality of a home is always upon the head of the woman. If the woman was loose, dressed, talked, and acted inappropriate; the home will be filled by sin and garbage. On the other hand, if a woman kept her home with prayer, dressed modestly, and spoke kindly; the home will be filled by Joy and blessings. Let us take heed of God’s word today, let us all women be and teach our young girls to be virtuous women from Proverbs 31:10-31

“30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

For if we don’t we will become not only slaves to sin but to others:

    10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

  7. This chapter illustrates deceit. One can be deceived in many ways, which is why it is so important that one listen; “Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  8. THE SAD STORY OF THE BIBLE

21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

The only defeat the disciple of JESUS will face is SELF defeat. JESUS has already defeated death, hell and the grave. Solomon gives us insight into how so many are defeated and eventually end up living a life that has ended badly.

The FIRST thing we must understand is that JESUS knows and sees EVERYTHING we say, do, hear, watch, attitude we possess and motive we act with.

In GOD’s infinite wisdom HE has supplied the disciple with the resources to live victorious over sin through JESUS. We have the WORD of GOD, the SPIRIT of GOD, the MAN of GOD and the SAINTS of GOD.

The primary test in this chapter is “lust” for the man and woman. The woman does not lust as much for adultery as she does for influence or control, which is evidence that she refuses submission and is dangerous. While the man lust for what he sees and therefore instructed to NOT LOOK AROUND.

The deciding factor for all of us will be how well we hear, receive, apply, honor and OBEY instruction. If you cannot be corrected or instructed by anyone then you are the individual in verse 23 and will go astray.

Sunday we learned Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. It is eternally important that we allow someone to speak into our lives with instruction and correction.

  9. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

We all remember the saying play with fire and you will be burned. The Bible teaches us to stay far away from the fire. This way you cant feel its flames or smell its aroma.

  10. Evil comes in all kinds of ways. What’s that I heard one time the devil does wear a dress. Well the devil wears all kinds of stuff. Be careful who you are hanging with and what you are doing. We can hide and do our thing but God sees all.

  11. 2 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

I have often found in life that I’ve been one to learn from other people’s mistakes. But on occasion I have been guilty of choosing to not to listen to those who have chosen the wrong path and walked that very path they warned me against. In the end I have come out saying “if I had only listened, I wouldn’t be were I am today”. It isn’t that God doesn’t want us to have fun or enjoy our lives, but he is an all knowing God and he sees where all roads lead and he is trying to protect us from the pain that all sinful paths lead too. Just like any parent, he his done his best to provide the knowledge to spare us from such dismay. He often puts people in our lives who will be the voice of reason to detour us from such destructive paths. It is important for the youth of this generation not only to read the bible, but to seek counsel from elders from with in the church. If we can learn from there testimony, we can spare ourselves from unnecessary storms brought upon ourselves by the choices we have made.

  12. 11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

    12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

It pays to listen! We all must submit to somebody, we all must turn somewhere for council. Only a fool would think that they don’t have take instruction from anybody.
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. If the ways that we think are right lead to death then why not accept instruction. At the end of making our own decisions, when everything is said and done, there will be regret. So listen now and save ourselfs from heartache later… Got it;) thank you Jesus for this word.

  13. 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. We make think we are getting away with something sometime when nobody is around or nobody is looking. However, if take a moment and consider the Omnipresence of God we can understand there is no hiding spot. This same concept holds true for everything in our lives; whether we are playing with sin or under the attack of the enemy. God knows where we are and what we are doing. It may seem He has forsaken us for a season; do not believe that lie. God knows where we are and what is going on in our lives. It may be a test of faith. It may be a test of loyalty. It may be a test of endurance.

Whatever the situation you find yourselves in, know that God knows. He is our rock and strong tower to run into. He is our healer, supplier, comforter! Trust in the Lord and remember His ways are not our ways. We may not understand the trial today but by-and-by we shall overcome!!!

  14. Mark well that God doesn’t miss a move you make; he’s aware of every step you take. The shadow of your sin will overtake you; you’ll find yourself stumbling all over yourself in the dark. Death is the reward of an undisciplined life; your foolish decisions trap you in a dead end. (Proverbs 5:21-23 MSG)

Undiscipline- not exhibiting self-control or good behaviour.

    Discipline- noun
    1. training to act in accordance with rules; drill: military discipline.
    2. activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training: A daily stint at the typewriter is excellent discipline for a writer.
    3. punishment inflicted by way of correction and training.

These chapter is challenging us to have discipline in our lives. If we choose not to have discipline our reward will be death.

Strange Doctrine of The Strange Woman

3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

Not only is this chapter speaking to young men to beware of immodest women, but also it speaks of something deeper…spiritual purity from strange doctrine.

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. (Revelation 17:1, 2 KJV)

Beware of false doctrine, it lacks commitment and promises the world. It looks good and feels good and sounds good but once you take the makeup off its frightening ugly!

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (1 Timothy 4:1 KJV)

PENTECOSTALS, KEEP THE FAITH AND REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THE LIES OF THE STRANGE WOMAN. Be pure!

  16. The Title for this scripture should be “Check your Thirst”. This is a wise warning to all men and women. Don’t take your thirst to another well, and drink of fowl waters. It is like drinking, from the well of death or poison. It’s sinful, and will drag you down to a path you don’t want to go. If, you are married stay with the one you have committed yourself to.

Why risk everything you have, or jeopardise your future with God. I know there is foregiveness, but stay committed to your spouse. It is a blessing from God, and he will bless your marriage.

“I’m committed to one woman, and I am very Holy Ghost proud of it!”

15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.

    “No Strangers Here”……………………………………………………

Thank you God for your forgiveness. You know our thoughts, hearts, and actions. I am SO thankful for the blood that washes away my sins. We still have consequences, but THANK GOD WE HAVE FORGIVENESS!

  18. Drink waters out of your own cistern [of a pure marriage relationship], and fresh running waters out of your own well. Should your offspring be dispersed abroad as water brooks in the streets? [Confine yourself to your own wife] let your children be for you alone, and not the children of strangers with you. Let your fountain [of human life] be blessed [with the rewards of fidelity], and rejoice in the wife of your youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant doe [tender, gentle, attractive]–let her bosom satisfy you at all times, and always be transported with delight in her love. Why should you, my son, be infatuated with a loose woman, embrace the bosom of an outsider, and go astray? (Proverbs 5:15-20 AMP)

My GOD PROTECT the brothers/ sisters from the lustful desires of the eyes!!!!!!
25 years ago my family went through a divorce. This divorce affected the entire family. The pain was do deep that it had damaged everything I believed in. As a child I was what they called “daddy’s girl”…. My hopes and dreams were broken and stolen from me!! It was unfair, not only for me but the entire family! I became lonely, hurt, suicidal, abused drugs, etc. My teenaged years were stolen, all because of one act of adultery. Parents divorce affects not only the spouse, but mostly the children. Husbands/Wives embrace and fall in LOVE with your spouse. Work, do whatever necessary to keep your marriage! If I knew then what I know now…. Things would HAVE been much different then!! But thank GOD NOW, because of Him I can live, and have peace!!! I laugh, I have Joy, but it’s all because of JESUS CHRIST!!!!

  19. v1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding :

Let our lifestyle be Bibliclly based and focused on living with JESUS eternally.

  20. 10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

Why spend all your energy, time and money to seek the pleasures of sin? You will have sown your time, talent & treasure on riotous living only to find yourself empty of the true rewards and truly satisfying things of both this life and the next.

  21. Beware of those who will try to deceive you and lure you into sin. The devil’s ways are tricky. This is why it is important to be prayed up. God has given his people power and it’s time to use it.

  22. 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

The Lord sees and knows everything. Those things hidden and said in secret will be revealed. Unfortunately their are consequenese that must be paid, even if repentance has taken place. Lord help us to take instruction, and do what is right, that we never have to wonder if hidden things in our lives are going to be revealed.

  23. 3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

If it looks to good to be true, it’s probably a lie…

  24. Ravishing!!!!

18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

Perfect scripture for our marriage. Awesome Jesus!!!

  25. Verses 21-23 CEV:
    “The Lord sees everything,
    and he watches us closely.
    Sinners are trapped and caught
    by their own evil deeds.
    They get lost and die
    because of their foolishness
    and lack of self-control.”

The power of choice can be a blessing or a curse. Be assured that not only is the Lord watching you closely; but, others around you. They are ready and waiting to see how you will handle any enticing or tempting situation (whatever it may be). It does come down to Jesus or self (your flesh). Take control, don’t get lost and stay focused on Jesus.

  26. 1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

Some of the best advise I have received in my life is to listen to your elders. When an elder talks we need to stop and listen.

  27. 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

The Lord sees the way I take! There is nothing that is hidden before his presence. Lord let my ways be pleasing in your sight.

  28. Proverbs 5:7-14 The father (teacher) warns the son (student) about the price of immorality.

Sin will take you further than you wanna go!
Praise God for deliverance, victory in Jesus Name !

  29. 1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

On verse one as I read the word bow I immediately thought of going on my knees giving honor and paying respect. Proverbs 3 tells us to not lean on our own understanding and in this chapter it says to bow the ear to the understanding of the Father. To incline and respectfully listen to words that give counsel and direction for life…that we may regard discretion and our lips keep knowledge. What are you letting in? What or who are you listening to? What we letting will have an effect on what comes out. If we allow the Words of God to infiltrate our mind and heart they will not only guide but change our lives for the better. If you are willing to take counsel, receive wisdom, accept correction then it may keep you from the lust of temptation

  30. The enemy is always trying to destroy families, the Lord knows everything and sees everything, nothing gets past him. Lord I seek your face. Deliver me and my family from all evil . Bless marriages and guide us to eternal life. I bless your holy name Lord.

  31. 23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

We need instruction/instructors in our lives to keep us on the path God has placed for us. I’m thankful for the instruction in my life

  32. 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

We will be our own undoing if we never let God teach us and correct us. Our own folly will ensnare us and keep us captive if we don’t have Him. It’s easy to try to do it on our own until we have a problem and then go running to God, but it’s better to go running straight to Him in the first place.

Who can understand the way we should take? We absolutely need Jesus to show us and lead us in the path of righteousness. He knows all our ways, and so He can help us to be purged from even the most sneaky, hidden sin that would otherwise hinder us by keeping us ensnared. I’m reminded of a song, “‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus… oh for grace to trust Him more.” He is our life, and by His grace we can have Him and have Him more abundantly.

  33. 1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

  34. Drink From Your Own Cistern

In the arid land where the Hebrews live, water is precious. To steal water from someone else’s well is a criminal act. In comparing marriage to a private cistern, Solomon is exhorting his listeners to place the highest possible value on their chosen spouse- and to respect the covenant made between other husbands and wives by not “drinking” from a “well” that is not their own. Here the teacher goes beyond the “don’t touch” admonition concerning adultery in Proverbs 5:8 and encourages his listeners to embrace and rejoice in the marital relationship, to drink deeply of the satisfying pleasures of married love and intimacy. Only a covenant relationship free from adultery can be fully satisfying. Because Scripture repeatedly makes the point that Israel should have such a relationship with God, these verses can also probably refer to the importance of spiritual, as well as marital, fidelity.
