Proverbs 9

1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:

16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

  1. 8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Thank you Jesus for instructions when you give me.
I pray that I will always make a stand for you, Jesus.
You Jesus is my answer to all my problems.

  2. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

There’s always a beginning point – for wisdom, it is fearing the Lord. That’s not the whole journey, just the first step.

    Deuteronomy 6:1-4 KJV
    1. Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

    2. That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

    3. Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it ; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

    4. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord :

  3. God always does everything in order.

If we want to be wise we should have a fear of God that is based on Love and reverence. We must understand that in Him we begin and end.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

1 Cor 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

The enemy will whisper sweet nothings in your ears, lies of deception to entice you into sin and the wages of sin is DEATH.

17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

  4. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

The word of God gives us a measuring stick to live our lives by. It helps us measure where we are. If we are wise and we are given instruction we gain more wisdom. If we are just and we are taught something we increase in learning. I must evaluate myself this morning to see how I measure up in the area of wisdom and in being a just man/woman.

  5. Proverbs 9:12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: But if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
thou shalt be wise for thyself. The wise person reaps the benefits of wisdom. Some of wisdom’s rewards are given in ch.3:16-18
Length of days is in her right hand; And in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her.

  6. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer. (Proverbs 9:10-12 NLT)

  7. 10: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding .

Wisdom begins with fear and respect for the Lord. Knowledge of the holy one leads to understanding.

  8. THE PRICE AND PRODUCTION OF CORRECTION AND INSTRUCTION

7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Correction and Instruction are the 2 best friends of a Spiritual Leader or the most challenging foe to a Spiritual Leader.

What makes the shift so great?

The seed of sin called PRIDE.

Consider this passage in the GNT

7 If you correct conceited people, you will only be insulted. If you reprimand evil people, you will only get hurt. 8 Never correct conceited people; they will hate you for it. But if you correct the wise, they will respect you. 9 Anything you say to the wise will make them wiser. Whatever you tell the righteous will add to their knowledge.

The TRUTH is PRIDE rules so many lives that even though we know we are wrong we still do not want anyone to tell us we are wrong; so the one giving CORRECTION or INSTRUCTION becomes the HERO or the VILLAN.

It is not based on the CARE giver or the Spiritual Leader it is the receiver of CORRECTION and/or INSTRUCTION. Do you give your man of GOD permission to speak into your life? Can he CORRECT you? Can he INSTRUCT you? Do you get an attitude toward him and make him pay by ignoring him or avoiding him?

LOVE me or HATE me it is your choice. ONE thing is for SURE. This PASTOR loves you! Thank you to all that have given me permission to CORRECT/INSTRUCT you in righteousness and I pray for those that are still deciding. May the GOD of GRACE give you peace in this matter and that you will see the great value in receiving CORRECTION/INSTRUCTION. It is the difference between PRIDE and HUMILITY, WISE and FOOLISH, LIFE and DEATH, and eventually HEAVEN and HELL.

  12. 9-13
Folly moral rebellion is personalized as a women and set in contrast to wisdom. Wisdom is disciplined responsive to Godand rewards those who choose her. Folly is undisciplined sensuous and brings those who choose her to an early grave.

  13. ILove to eat the Word

    Wisdom is Screaming

3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

Wisdom is a voice… FOOLISHNESS is also a voice. Which voice do we listen to? Sometimes the voice of foolishness dresses up in musical notes and some willingly listen to her lyrics…WHY?

Wisdom is calling, do we hear her voice?

  14. I want to live in the house that wisdom built. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of The Lord. Then the knowledge of things that are Holy. Not only must we have Jesus, but we also need to READ THE BIBLE!! You don’t get knowledge of what is holy if you don’t know what holy is.
God help me to get a greater understanding and a deeper knowledge of the things that are holy so that I can put those things to a greater practice in my life.–Amen!

  16. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Without the respect of God and mindful of his ways we are foolish. He alone is able to deliver, provide & ultimately save us. The wisest thing we can do us obey God and his commandments.

  17. v9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Good advise is beautiful . As we continue to open our hearts and minds to GOD’S WORD and HIS man that HE has place over us.
GOD has something special for everyone of us as we learn to take HIM at HIS WORD.

  19. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

The beginning if wisdom. Fear God in all things. Wow I love reading his word. It is so powerful.

  20. Listen, Pt 2

1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

Wisdom prepares in detail and care for us, how do we prepare for wisdom?

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

    Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith works in the fruitfulness of understanding and wisdom. It helps begin to put in perspective the truth of God and cultivate in us a proper fear of Him.

    Psalms 119:130
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

    Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Preparing for God and living in wisdom calls for us to HEAR God. Will we listen?

    Romans 10:16-18
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

  21. 0 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11 For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. 12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.” NIV

    Godly wisdom is priceless……

  22. 10 Respect and obey the LORD! This is the beginning of wisdom. To have understanding, you must know the Holy God.
11 I am Wisdom. If you follow me, you will live a long time.
12 Good sense is good for you, but if you brag, you hurt yourself. (CEV)

  23. 6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Forsake the foolish an live… How many wish that they hadn’t done something foolish in the past? As we grow hopefully we learn to grow up past our foolishness and mature into people who make sound decisions. Spiritually the same principal applies. We can either do things that will cause us to continue facing trials, or we can mature to a point that we decide not our own will but His, and pass our test as we go through our valleys rather than getting stuck in them…

  24. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning

Lets not be wise in our own eyes, but wise according to thw word of God. God will give true wisdom to those who obey his word.

  25. This chapter illustrates choices. A choice for the wise and for the unwise was illustrated. There are choices in live, which some are wise and some are not. One that heeds wisdom will be happier than one that will not; “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  26. 1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Reverence and respect for The Lord and his word will both the foundation and the pillars of the house we build for The Lord.

We are the temple of the Holy Ghost.

In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: -Ephesians 2:21
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. -Ephesians 2:22

  27. Proverbs 9:13
The woman named Folly is brash.
She is ignorant and doesn’t know it.

    fol·ly [fol-ee]
    noun, plural fol·lies
    1.
the state or quality of being foolish; lack of understanding or sense.
    2.
a foolish action, practice, idea, etc.; absurdity: the folly of performing without a rehearsal.
    3.
a costly and foolish undertaking; unwise investment or expenditure.

Folly is preventable. Wisdom can be sought after, and learned. One voice of wisdom is experience. Specifically experience from others.

Our elders are an excellent source of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. The life lessons they have lived, and learned are treasures, and should truly be valued. We play into he hands of folly when we ignore their examples, and advice.

King Solomon’s son paid a high price for not listening to his elders. When Rehoboam was asked by the people to lighten their loads he spoke with the elders, and the young men.

    1 Kings 12:4
“Your father was a hard master,” they said. “Lighten the harsh labor demands and heavy taxes that your father imposed on us. Then we will be your loyal subjects.”

    1 Kings 12:7
The older counselors replied, “If you are willing to be a servant to these people today and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your loyal subjects.”

    1 Kings 12:10
The young men replied, “This is what you should tell those complainers who want a lighter burden:‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist!

Rehoboam chose to hear the voice of folly instead of wisdom.

    1 Kings 12:13-14
But Rehoboam spoke harshly to the people, for he rejected the advice of the older counselors and followed the counsel of his younger advisers. He told the people, “My father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!”

This terrible mistake resulted in the division of the kingdom.

This tells me that counsel from elders, and our Pastor should be heeded. To not do so will cause division.

  28. Perhaps the most dangerous aspect of Lady Folly is her deceitfulness. She lies through her teeth while honey drips off her lips (Pr 5:3). To those who lack good judgment and fail to pursue wisdom diligently, Folly’s lies are alluring and even sound convencinl true. But the wise person knows that stealing water from another person’s well yields anything but sweet results (mentioned back in Proverbs 5) and having to secretly “eat” from Folly’s table cannot possibly lead to freedom and joy. A similar situation is mentioned in John 8:12-47, where Jesus himself makes clear in his discourse with the Jews that there is only one truth (from the Father) and many lies (from the father of lies, the devil). Each of us must choose whom we will believe and be faithful to.

  29. 11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

Wisdom teaches us to be good stewards of everything God has placed on our hands, from our possesions to our choices of living. Through wisdom we obtain the knowledge to take care of ourselves, and our bodies the temple of the Holy Spirit. The end result is longer years of life. Healthier decisions, wether material, emotional, physical, better outcome, a blessed long life, abundantly in Jesus Christ.

  30. Verses 9-11 AMP “Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man (one upright and in right standing with God) and he will increase in learning. The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. For by me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.”

We must be open to receive instruction and to be taught.

  31. 7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

It is important to grab a hold of the helping hand from someone who tries to help and correct our walk with the Lord. We must choose to listen and learn, as the that is the choice of a wise man. Rather then make the choice of a fool and get angry and rebel. If will take the path of a fool, sin will surely overtake our lives.

  32. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more. Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. (Proverbs 9:9, 11 NLT)

  33. I’m going to shift this a little and relate it to what has been on my heart. This chapter addresses wisdom and foolishness. The ways of the world are fullish and the ways of God are wise.
We live in a society where Hollywood influences the minds of people in a detrimental way. We get this false instruction of what live is through the media. Love is an emotion a nd happily ever after is perfect love. That fashion and sensuality are to be desired. Songs about living for now and party like we are going to die young. A world focused on carnal satisfaction rather than pleasing God. That is far from biblical truth. The foolishness of this world entices people and as for us we have to be careful. I’m spiritual but not religious is something I encounter a lot. We live in a world that doesn’t fear God. Therefore we look like fools to them but we know truth. It is important for us to be ambassador of Gods love with humility to reach this foolish world. Otherwise we will receive reproach correcting someone consumed with sin, for the flesh is enmity to God.

I am thankful for each of you and I am honored to be a part of the move a God that is in Fort Worth. A move a Gof so strong that other denominal church’s will be led to truth and congregations converted to God. Thank you God for grace.

  34. The Secrets of Death

17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

Too often our minds and our hearts can go astray with the devils keen seductive tactics. We need to know that every angle of our lives will be a target. The devil will use any way to slither himself into ‘a place’ he can destroy you.
If you cannot do it in the light of day then what allows it to be approved through the night. You should never fight in the shadows. Only a coward would want to hide.
As a child of God you have a higher standard that the world will not understand but you have to know your ‘place’, Your heart, His heart, His word, His voice…

  35. In this scripture, it is important to remember no matter where you are or who you are with. When you correct someone, it’s best to remember this next verse.

8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

I know, I’m late on this entry but, the Lord knows I’m trying to keep up!
