Proverbs 11

1 A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to theLord: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

  2. I’m very regretful of my life. Jesus come in and take over! I love and miss yall like the days when I was there before. Went to church lastnight and they talked about the “wide door” and the “narrow door” the wide door is easy to get in worldly. The narrow door is where Jesus is. Which door do i we want to go through? I want to go throuh the narrow.

    In other words, when we are blessed, our city is blessed. We impact our city when we walk uprightly in the eyes of God.

  8. Vs 9 When we gossip we destroy others. Gossip amounts to bearing false witness. We are wise when we don’t tell others what we “think” we know.

    28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

    This is what is wrong with today’s wealthy society, the football player, the rock start, etc… they have placed their faith on their riches so they fall. No matter how much money you have if you have not blessed the His Kingdom you will wonder through life without fulfillment, without a purpose, and an empty life.

    29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

    There is no gain by bringing discord, strife, into your house. Our house is not only our home, but our home church, is a body of believers. Do not gossip, do not speak ill of no one, do not stir trouble and division for you will finish serving the just.

    30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

    Want to be wise? Win a soul, plant a seed where ever you go. I believe it don’t matter if you harvest it, if you plant a seed on someone, let it be by teaching a bible study, sharing His word in the market, etc… and one day there you are at church and Bro. so and so brings that person in and they get the Holy Ghost, get baptist in Jesus Name, You Win Also!!!!!! Share His word with everyone, without any restrains or discrimination for if you are not there to pick the harvest some one else will. That is what I am planning to do in Puerto Rico and If some one else picks up the Harvest Praise the LORD!!!!!!

    31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

    Each of us will get our Prize at the end. Let your actions define what your prize will be the Crown of Glory or the eternal fire of hell.

  10. THE PATH TO SHAME

    2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

    Every sin committed is traced back to the root of PRIDE. From Lucifer in the heavens, Adam in the garden and every other painful illustration in the WORD of GOD. Consistantly and Faithfully we see shame and judgement come to those that as the Apostle Paul carried this same principal into the Epistles.

    (Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.)

    Pride is evident when we feel like we deserve “more” credit, power, attention, authority, recognition. THE PATH TO SHAME is “self-promotion”. When we attempt to lift ourselves and our “filthy rags” self righteousness. When we attempt to make others look bad to lift ourselves, something comes up about us; skeletons in the closet of our past.

    Another look at THE PATH TO SHAME

    Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

    “It is hard to FALL when you are on your knees.”

    Invest in self demotion instead of self promotion.

    James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

    We can either bring ourselves to our knees in prayer and supplication or we can shamefully fall flat on our face or back through pride.

    A life of integrity, character, faithfulness, honesty, giving, soul winning, are all keys mentioned in this chapter to assist us in walking humbly before GOD.

  11. COUNT ON CHARACTER

    A thick bankroll is no help when life falls apart, but a principled life can stand up to the worst.
    Proverbs 11:4 (The Message)

    How a leader deals with the circumstances of life tells you alot about their character. Crisis doesn’t necessarily make character, but it certainly does reveal it. Adversity is a crossroads which makes a person choose one of two paths: character or compromise.

    *Character is more than talk
    *Talent is a gift, but character is a choice.
    Leaders cannot rise above the limitations of thier character.

  12. This chapter illustrates direction. Much direction is provided, as is the outcome of one’s course. The Word of God (Jesus) is a well spring of knowledge, which will guide one, if one will but read and heed. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

    The liberal soul shall be made fat:and he that watereth shall be water also himself .

    LET’s be nice, merciful and conpasioned to others.
    If we do all things with a good willing heart, we shal be rewarded some time or another.
    My GOD will make sure I get to be blessed, he will supply my needs the day I start blessing others( in any kind of way).

    I will do my part, obey the LORD, leave all the consequences to him, be loving and kind,
    Wise and patienced and I would also apply this to my own walk with GOD. Be led by his Spirit, and continue walking in his word. Then GOOD will be the end result and not wind….

    but he delights in accurate weights.

    2 Pride leads to disgrace,
    but with humility comes wisdom.

    3 Honesty guides good people;
    dishonesty destroys treacherous people.

    There is a saying that the truth hurts, but just because it hurts doesn’t mean we should avoid it or lie about it. Especially when it comes to our spiritual walk. It is important that we remain honest with ourselves at all times, but even more so when it comes to our relationship with God and the things in our lives that keep us from having a more powerful relationship with him. Never be to prideful to fall on bend knee and ask God to reveal areas in your life that need work, and once he does—don’t be stupid and ignore his helping hand.

  15. Verse 14 MSG “Without good direction, people lose their way; the more wise counsel you follow, the better your chances.” The Lord has placed leaders in your life for a reason. So take notes!

    Verse 17 MSG “When you’re kind to others, you help yourself; when you’re cruel to others, you hurt yourself.” The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:32 KJV “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

    Verse 27 MSG “The one who seeks good finds delight; the student of evil becomes evil.” Psalm 37:4 KJV “Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

    What are you saying?

    Socrates stated, “The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms.” How true it is to know what you are talking about. The absolute power of words is yet to be defined; is my opinion. Lives, families, homes, neighborhoods, cities, counties, states, countries and empires have all been built and destroyed by words. The Roman Empire is listed and advertised as the most powerful empire in history. There are many theorists and historians with their opinions they claim can be proven through various forms of media. I believe it started with Jesus. His presence on the earth proved the power of the spoken word.

    Of course at any time Jesus could have simply stated “Rome fall.” and it would have been done. However, he illustrated the power of faith through spoken word. The empowerment provided people with the means to share ideas on what an alternate civilization could be. Thus the word spread and through many years and many mouths words brought an end to Roman rule. This has repeated itself many times since. We find ourselves in a free country on the idea “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

    So, what are you talking about? Are you building The Kingdom or building a coup d’état? While we are impacting Ft. Worth, let’s not forget ourselves and immediate family. Have you gave a hug today? Have you told your spouse/children/parents you love them and appreciate them and what they do? We can impact our families! Start today. Make it a habit.

  17. 24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
    28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

    In this chapter i found that it outlines two important principles that give increase and reward. The law of giving and reaping what you sow. It tells you that a giving person is putting their trust in God not in riches of this world. There are those that withhold from giving because they feel as though they won’t make it, and they always end up lacking. Those that freely and joyfully give it describes them as a branch that shall flourish, showing the much increase. The only way to find out is to prove it. Repent for withholding and prove God.

    31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

    You wanna be rewarded in this life?? Be wise. Yes you can be diligent in your work and you will get the fruit of that…but how much more if we get diligent working for the Kingdom of God winning souls..!?
    You will be recompensed in earth much more than the wicked and the sinner.

    What’s in your heart?

    The word tells us that out of the mouth the heart speaks. By knowing this we can listen to people and see what their hearts are full of; be it hate, hurt, mischief, or a passion for souls. Whatever is in their hearts will come out, we just have to be willing to listen to what’s being said.

    When we have deciet in our hearts, others will be able to see it, just as God was able to see into Lucifer’s heart, to see the pride, where he had “said in his heart”, that he would be like God…

    I wanna have that good fruit and be able to win some souls, I don’t want anyone lost

  20. A mouth is a terrible thing to waste

    13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

    Talebearing is gossip. There is no other way around it. When a matter is to be kept secret, or confidential it carries with it the trust of another.

    The kingdom of God is all about people. The more we spend time with people we will have opportunity to hear them open up. Confidentiality is a must. We hold within our hands the ability to help, or hurt people by what we do with what they tell us.

    Everyone has a past. The last thing people need is for someone to join the enemy in talking about it. Spreading secrets only hurts others.

    Proverbs 17:9 Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends.

    God hates division. Instead of telling others, the Bible says to tell God. Don’t waste your mouth on slandering. Instead help heal, and pray for them.

    16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

    The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much to heal your brother, or sister, and cover offenses.

  22. Vs. 1, “A FALSE balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.”
    Vs. 20, “They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their ways are his delight.”

    One definition of balance is a weight, force, etc. that counteracts another or causes equilibrium (a state of balance or equality between opposing forces.) ; counterpoise (a weight that balances another).

    Froward means not easily controlled; stubbornly willful; contrary; refractory.

    Now what am I trying to say? What causes us to be out of balance with God? A froward heart. We don’t want to listen to authority (uncontrolable); we want things our way (stubbornly willful); and we do things contrary to the Word of God and the Will of God. These things are an abomination to Him. But, if we are upright in our hearts and listen to the Word of God, listen to authority, and do the Will of God, then our weight balances out, and we become His delight.

  23. Watch what you say and do: The Lord hates anyone who cheats, is prideful, crooked, dishonest sneaky people, fools who cause trouble in the family, cruel and mean will surely be punished.

    Lord grant me the knowledge, wisdom and understanding to do your will.
    I want to live and always do what is right in your sight and please you Lord.

    Within ourselves we can do nothing. We are helpless and useless to GOD’S Kingdom, but if we abide in HIM we have the strength and power to accomplish HIS divine will.

  25. 16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

    Much can be said about Godly women who are not afraid to stand up for truth and righteousness, and are proud to be counted with those that fear the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Being gracious in attitude, action, speech and character brings honour not only to the Lord, but also to her husband, her family and her witness as a christian.

    Praise God we are in a church thst gives to our community. Plus we pray for this city daily. This city is blessed through all we do.and we’ll see many souls be saved as s result.

  27. The blessing of a Giving Heart.

    25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
    26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
    27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

    Webster says this about liberal. It is an adj. 2a : marked by generosity : openhanded;…

    When we help one another, don’t we know that God is pleased? If we soak up all that God gives us, then what will happen? Two things will happen, 1 we soak up as much as we can, and not give it out. Here the challenge is is that if you have ever used a sponge, it can only soak up so much. Then you have to squeze it out to soak up more. The thing is is that God’s hand is the one that is squezeing. The second thought in this is that if we are always giving of ourselves ,then we like a sponge, when it becomes drier must soak up more of the water,”the Holy Ghost,” in order to give out more. The Holy Ghost is the water in both. If we keep the Holy Ghost for ourselves than how is this world going to know about Jesus? But, if we share the good news it makes room for us to grow.

    Now in vs. 26 it talks about withholding corn. The corn is a type of blessing in this sense. We never hear people complain about someone always giving to others, but if someone is blessed and they keep it all for themselves then they are the talk of the town. Plant more seed get more in return during harvest time. As Pastor confirmed sunday night, when we bless those in other countries , we will then be blessed with people from those countries and also blessings from other sources too.

    In NIV Luke 6:38,”Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

    Righteousness in its simplest form is being rule by that which is right. When we allow righteousness to guide our lives we will be delivered from troubles of this life.

    What are you saying about your neighbor? Is it good? Is it beyond reproach? Would you say it to Jesus? Even when we think it might be alright because_____ won’t hear us, IT IS STILL DEATH! You speak death to someone with negative words.

    Those that trust in and fear The Lord already have life through Christ. They also speak life into situations. Jesus saves. He even tells us what to do to make us more life him. He is the giver of life. For us to be like God, or Christians, we must bring life to situations like Christ.

  31. The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends. (Proverbs 11:30 NLT)

    The book of Proverbs mentions wisdom, knowledge and understand. Which are the foundation to becoming wise. If we apply and activate the Word of God we will become soul winners and shine like the stars.

    And the teachers and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness (to uprightness and right standing with God) [shall give forth light] like the stars forever and ever. (Daniel 12:3 AMP)

    Our lifestyles speak volumes to people. We are always being watched. How we live our lives will either make or break our testimony. We can’t say we love Jesus and act like the devil and expect to reach people. If we say we love people, people must see us love people. Everything we profess with our mouths to believe must be backed up by our actions. If not then we are hypocrites and being one will destroy our neighbor. Why? Because we are a representation of Christ when we put on His name, if we misrepresent what being a christian is and how a christian is truly suppose to act then we cause confusion and no one will want what we have. Hungry people in the world are looking for a real change, a real salvation, if we don’t show them its real they may pass us by and miss their chance. God put His name on us, we are his hands and feet in this world. The world knows us but when they see us they need to see him.

    2 Corinthians 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

    What message are we sending? Are we saying we can live anyway as long as we say one thing? Or are we showing that there is a great and merciful God who dug me out of sin and when he did he changed me, I can’t act just any way because Jesus didn’t act like that and I wanna be just like Him.

    Leviticus 11:45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

  33. 14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

    We all need somebody to help us out, to be accountable to and to go to when advice is needed. The more people we have around us that can help us out and back it up with the Word the safer we are. We should take council from those we aspire to be like. For those who are against it Lord have mercy it is so easy to fall without people there to give us a hand, to pray with us. Thank you Jesus for the leaders in our church and let’s cover them all with prayer because I’m sure they all have multiple people that turn to them for council and we need God to strengthen them and give them wisdom in Jesus name.. Hallelujah thank you Jesus.

  34. Let it Go

    19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

    20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to theLord: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

    21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

    We can’t be worried about what he/she is doing and not being punished or caught in the act. God sees all God knows all. We have to remember that everything done in darkness will find it’s way to the light. Keep praising God for all he does and pray for those that have not grasped that concept yet.

    I think this scripture would be great for offering! If you want to grow you can’t trust in just yourself but in Him! He is the life (the tree) that holds and feeds/provides to his branches. In case you haven’t noticed God wins, he never dies. If your apart of that life your just going to keep on growin

  35. Get Understanding

    12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

    Philippians 1:9-10
    “9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

    10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.”

    Love is described as something that abounds through the knowledge and wisdom of God. As our understanding grows, we can better love. Love is more than a feeling or an idea, is describes a way of life and the *place* in which God desires for us to abide.

    Proverbs 4:7
    “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

    1 John 4:16
    “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

    We all they getting, get understanding to growing in abiding in God… Growing in His love is vital and growing in understanding is key in this.

    Psalm 147:5
    “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.”

    There is infinite understanding for the infinite love of God. 1 Corinthians 13, the famous “love chapter,” speaks of perfect, mature love, but as it closes, speaks of the process of love:

    1 Corinthians 13:8-13
    “8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

    9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

    10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

    11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

    12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

    13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”

    This side of heaven, our understanding is in part, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have access to grow up into *maturing* love as our understanding matures as well:

    Ephesians 4:13-16
    “13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

    14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

    15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

    16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

    With all thy getting, get understanding… and grow in love

  36. Kindhearted Woman

    vs16 A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.

    Solomon states that a kindhearted/gracious woman -though she clearly has a lower social status in his day- will gain more respect than any number of wealthy, but ruthless men. (Which is true of Abagail 1 Sa 25:39-40). But women can be equally rancorous when they lose sight of what is most important. In Proverbs 31:30-31, a woman who loves God is credited with the highest reward. To be God- fearing, gracious and kindhearted woman os the ultimate victory for a woman in God’s kingdom. A woman who makes it her goal to be gentle and kind like Jesus will have a far greater influence for good in the world than anyone who ruthlessly pursues worldly goals.
