Proverbs 14

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.

14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.

21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

28 In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.

29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.

34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

35 The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

  1. In this scripture, it is apparent the importance in what Jesus Christ taught us regarding loving our neighbour as ourselves. To simply, keep us out of sin, and to be a good stewart/son/daughter and love one another. But, also you can see the other benefits in being merciful to the poor. “You’ll be happy”……”It’s in the word”.

21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

  2. I trust in God ~ forever he is my refuge…

Lord why do the closest people try to control my desire to be in Your House.
I guess they dont want me saved but
Oohh… I ALREADY AM! THANK YOU JESUS! I LOVE YOU JESUS~ PLEASE HELP ME TO GET TO YOU, JESUS!

THE bible says this kind of person is full of folly.
I have all the resources to move close to church and my best friend besides Jesus doesnt allow me to do this.
    This is not working.
Lord forgive me but I have to do it anyway.
I love you my Savior and King Jesus.

    Micah 1:3
For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon high places of the earth.

    This too shall pass…Jesus.

  3. 17. He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

    29. He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

    Psalm 103:8 KJV
    8. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

The Lord is slow to anger with us; we should be slow to anger with each other.

  4. vs 4 If we don’t do anything we will never get anywhere. Those that at least try will sometimes get dirt thrown at them. If you don’t want to get dirty, just sit back and do nothing, but you will have no increase.

    Momma the Builder

    Proverbs 14

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

    Build

    בָּנָה banah
    Verb baw-naw’
    a primitive root
a primitive root; to build (literally and figuratively):–(begin to) build(-er), obtain children, make, repair, set (up), surely.
to build, rebuild, establish, cause to continue

COME ON MOMMA, PUT ON YOUR TOOL BAG AND LET’S BUILD!!!

Not only is momma the keeper of the house when dad is at work, but the church (Spiritual Jerusalem which is mother to us all) is to be built up by us.

For too long the church has prayed for God to send people to church… We, momma, are to build up the church! Lets go get them, encourage them, and build them up!!!

God will supply every need, but its MOMMA’S job to BUILD!

  6. 14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

    Who’s Will?

Often we should look at our actions and motives to see what we are being driven by. Many times it is easy to get caught up in life and allow our own motives to provoke us into acting or reacting a certain way. We haev to trust in God and have faith that He alone knows what’s best for us. His word tells us that He has our best intrest at heart.

Jesus when in the garden prayed, “not my will…” We would be wise to follow this example, and to seek what will bring Him most glory, because in doing so, we answer the question of “Whose will are we serving?”

  7. 10 Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can fully share its joy.

Each and every person will have a testimony of their own. One filled with darkness and pain, and while we might all rejoice in the work of our God. No heart will fully share the magnitude of that joy then the person or Person’s who were delivered from that situation. We should never judge one trial or storm, because will we never have the full story or understand what they went through, but none the less we serve and praise a God who can handle it all.

15 Only simpletons believe everything they’re told!
The prudent carefully consider their steps.

It is not just enough to listen or be told the word, but there comes a time were we must seek understanding of the word ourselves. Studying the word for ourselves has a far greater impact on what we stand to gain as far as knowledge and understanding then just be told.

  8. Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Woman watch your actions & words we are to create a state haven for our husbands & children. It is our actions , prayers , & uplifting words that will make a difference on their lives. It is up to us to change a house into a home.
To all the young men observe the way the young lady loves, worships, & surrenders to God for with that same passion she will build her home.

  9. 1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. KJV

Ladies I believe this scripture is talking to us. We are too lift up our spouses in prayer and be there for them and see their vision and the ones that have children lift up your children in prayer. We are living a rude cruel world and when your husband goes out of the house to his job keep him in your prayers. Now days both wife/husband have to work. But you as the wife still want to keep the home clean and laundry done and be there for the family. Don’t put work/play/internet/cell phone etc before God. A wise mama will make sure that unity is in her home. If you have someone/something causing division in your home get rid of that division and put unity back in the home. Remember however your family looks is a reaction to how you help them.

  10. Verses 26-27 NLT “Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children. Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain; it offers escape from the snares of death.”

Same verses CEV “If you respect the Lord, you and your children have
a strong fortress and a life-giving fountain that keeps you safe from deadly traps.”

  11. Prov.14:23
In all labour there is profit : but the talk
Of the lips tended only to pinury.
—wow! Everything looks great, everything is going great, but it only takes to open our mouth in a stupid way to ruin it all, then we have to start all over again with GOD’s mercy….
14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding:but he that is hasty of spirit
    Exalted folly.
    ————
I really need to keep this verse throuout this day, ( I will ask for you my friends to pray for me) know that It’s a decision,it’s the disposition with determination.so I am really taking deep breaths…
I will not exalt folly cause then I will become one too.
I will conquer with love, a smile and with keeping my mouth shut, and of course with trusting the LORD.
    In Jesus name.

  12. This chapter illustrates lessons. Many life circumstances are illustrated. One should compare one’s ways to the Word of God (Jesus), while there is time. Although there are many lessons in life, there is only one answer; “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  13. 1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

As a lady, a wife and a mother it is so important the tone that we set in my home. The old saying when Mama ain’t happy nobody’s happy is very true in so many aspects. We are responsible to teach, lead, pray for, heal, and discern the needs of our family. We can only guide them through the Word of God in a Godly manner. We teach them by our example. More than what we say, it’s what we do. We are not only building our family, but we are building monuments unto the Lord. Raising them up in truth, encouraging them in the faith, teaching them the statues of the Lord.

And then a few scriptures down we find these words …12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. If we do things “our” way, not the way of the Lord and the “Word” way, we could be leading our family down the road of destruction, destroying with our words and actions the foundation and purpose that God has for them. Building our house is a big responsibility. We must begin each day with the wisdom of the Lord!

  14. 10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
We have all experienced pain and joy. There are many similarities in trails and tribulations. We can empathize with our fellow believers with the loss of a loved one or the birth of baby. The difference is the personal thresholds we each possess concerning true joy and absolute torment.

Only God and I know what causes me true pain. Only God and I know the threshold of that pain. On the opposite hand only God and I know my true happiness and its threshold. Therefore the trials and tests that I face are mine alone. While I look for comfort from friends, family and fellow believers; triumph or failure rest upon me.

    Consider this translation:
    10. We do not know what stings of conscience, or consuming passions, torment the prosperous sinner. Nor does the world know the peace of mind a serious Christian enjoys, even in poverty and sickness.

  15. 14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

We don’t have to leave the church to be backslidin If we show up but our heart’s not in it then it’s like we didn’t show up at all. Going to church doesn’t make us a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes us a car. Our heart has to be there and we have to put the pride aside and realize we’re not always gonna get it our way.

  16. 10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

CEV -14 You harvest what you plant, whether good or bad.

Unhappiness, distruction, sorrow, bitterness follows a bad harvest that you planted.

Happiness, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, blessings, life and riches are some of the good harvests planted. God shows us how to live a godly life it’s all up to us to seek him.

I want to be what you want me to be Lord, may your will be done. Bless my family and my church family NOW.

  17. Think of the many people who lost their lives in the tragedies of September 11,2001. Where was God ? What kind of protection is a God who allowed so many people to die ? On that frightening day, as I turned to scripture, I found one more verse that changed my perspective:

When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge. Proverbs 14:32

Even in death we can take refuge in God, for through Christ, death is merely the event that brings us to the presence of the Father. Death is not really the end, but the beginning of life as it should be.
Need a place to hide when life overwhelms you? Try the strong, safe tower of the Lord! It’s a place of safety—–in life or in death.

  18. HALELUJAH!!! YES LORD! b
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
OOOO THE FEAR OF THE LORD HAS INDEED KEPT ME!!! THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR MERCY AND LOVE!!! LIBRE YO SOY LIBRE PARA CANTAR PARA DANZAR YO SOY LIBREEEEE!!! HALELUJAH!!! GRACIAS PADRE HERMOSO YO SOY LIBRE !!! =D

  19. v29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding : but he that is hasty of spirit exalateth folly.

Sometimes we just have to take our foot off the accelerator and let our opponent die….
( Just leave it alone )
Rise above our present explosive emotion.
Look at it this way.. ”
It’s like a pimple on your nose it will go away.”
GOD has given us the courage to go through the storm .
Be not of a hasty spirit … It’s below our calling.

  20. Don’t be Angry!

29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

It’s a known fact that when we get angry , our mind will block rational thought. Meaning when we get frustrated we don’t think strait. It’s when we take our time and analyze our situation that we can gain understanding. I can look back at my childhood and see the great example that my father showed me at a young age. I can remember many times where he would stop, think, then do. Bee can take from this and use it. To many times we see people talk before there turn and when they talk sound bad, because they spoke out of turn. My

    • My prayer is that God would help us all learn to listen to one another before we speak, and to learn before we do.

  21. DECEIT AVENUE

12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

My belief is that there are few people that actually decide to live a life that will end in eternal death. Most people that are lost and away from GOD, find themselves on the Avenue of DECEIT.

DECEIT is enticing. DECEIT is attractive. DECEIT is convenient. DECEIT is deadly.

DECEIT begins by looking just like the correct path. It appears to be the right path. It appears to be the way to go, usually with less pressure or struggle.

There is a way that “SEEMS” right; but ends in destruction.

***The ONLY right way is GOD’s WAY!

If the word of GOD does not support the effort; then don’t do it. If the path is shady or questionable, don’t go there.

  22. The Fear-of- God builds up confidence, and makes a world safe for your children. The Fear-of- God is a spring of living water so you won’t go off drinking from poisoned wells. God-devotion makes a country strong; God-avoidance leaves people weak. (Proverbs 14:26, 27, 34 MSG)

” I Did it my way” is the problem in today’s world! The world says I do what I want, when I want, and how I want. Not realizing that there life style will only lead them to self destruct!!!
Not having the fear of The Lord is a dangerous place to be in. Not only for you but also for your children, and the seed that comes after them. So Stop drinking that poison, and drink from the well of living water!! And Let Righteousness Exalt our Nation!!!!

  23. 29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

As we labor together to build the church up we must be slow to get angry with one another. We may have a different funtion in building it up but we all have the same goal…to see souls saved. Misunderstandings happen all the time but just being slow to anger will provide us the time needed to understand more clearly what has happened. I pray to have a soft answer until I comprehend the entire situation in Jesus name.

  24. The random acts of kindness

I was at McDonalds today where we are remodeling the bathrooms when a lady approached me and asked me for a dollar. I didn’t have any cash and I told her so. I always think that these type of people just want the money to go get drunk or a fix but this time I didn’t judge. I told her that I only had a credit card. She said can you please buy me something to eat. I took her inside and told her to get what she wanted. She ordered off the dollar menu and ate very fast line she was starving. She said God bless you and I saw her walk off to the streets again. I believe that I’m right part if the time about the drug addicts and alcoholics out on the streets panhandling for a fix but there is a time when someone is truly hungry.

31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

I am repented for the times that I could of helped someone and didn’t. I pray now that The Lord would guide me to those that actually need help and that he would make me able to help them.

17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.

Help us Jesus to have wisdom and be the help someone needs. Amen

  25. 7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

There is no reason to fight with foolishness. A foolish person will continue to argue even when they have been proven wrong. God has given his people wisdom to avoid such foolishness.

  26. Good problems

4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

I am thankful for our church, and the building. I look forward to coming to worship our great king, and feeling his awesome presence.

Sometimes it seems a little crowded and full but this is a good problem. The church is much like the ark.

    Genesis 7:13-14
In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.

The church may seem crowded, and at times a little stinky. Just like the ark was crowded, and rocking back and forth we may feel that too. Without these wonderful things our church would not be fulfilling its purpose.

Lets keep filing it up until Jesus comes!

  27. Messy work

4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

Oxen are work animals, they usually carry heavy loads from place to place. The heavier the loads or even the more loads you have the more ox you need. And just like any other animal they require care. Lets face it, animals are messy, especially if contained in a small area such as a stall/crib. It’s even more work to keep the area clean. Messy work. But necessary work to keep healthy cattle that is able to work. The more increase, the more oxen, the more messy work. If you aren’t willing to get dirty and work then you likely wouldn’t have any oxen and you would have minimal increase for the lack of strength needed. I believe the same could be said for ministry, it’s messy work. People come to church with messy lives, we have to be willing to get close to hurting people, work with them, to see them into the kingdom of God. If we are too worried about getting a little dirty while helping others then we won’t see much increase into the kingdom. I thank God that POFW is a church that cares about people!

Jude1 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Reaching the lost requires pulling them out of the fire sometimes, we can’t be afraid of getting the smell of smoke on us from it.

  28. All In The Name

26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

    Proverbs 18:10
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

    Colossians 3:17
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

What’s in a name? In the name of Jesus is life and refuge. When we commit to walking in the fear of the Lord and doing all in His name, we commit to walking a path of life. We may not always have the answers, but if we have the right mindset, it will lead us even when we don’t know specifically what to do.

V18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Being prudent is to be “marked by wisdom” according to Merriam-Webster.

The difference in being simple and being prudent is more than *quantity* of knowledge, rather it’s in *how* one thinks and apply what they know. Knowledge is a crown to the prudent because the prudent think in a wise manner and any additional knowledge only helps them act on that wisdom even better. What good is knowledge if you don’t know what to do with it?

V8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

V12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

People who make wrong decisions generally don’t make them because they thought they were wrong at the time. People tend to do what they think is right, the problem is when what we think is right and what actually *is* right are two different things. That is why we must have a renewing of our minds. We must act according to what *Jesus* says is right, and that is where we come back to doing all things in His name. It isn’t just saying “in the name of Jesus…”, it’s about living in such a way that glorifies Him and comes in line with His wisdom from above.

V2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the Lord: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

    Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”

    Psalm 111:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”

Doing all in the Name means doing all in wisdom, walking in the fear of the Lord according to knowledge. It is that lifestyle of righteous living that we find that strong tower of His name to be applied. Just think of the testimony of God *keeping* you from things, simply because you walked in His wisdom instead of according to your own understanding? It’s one thing to get through a storm, it’s another to avoid it altogether…

V15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

Our hearts should be trained to Jesus, the Word. That is how we look well to our going.

V35 The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

Now is a time of favor from the King, are we opening the door for blessing in our lives through preparing ourselves as wise servants to Him or are we shutting it through foolishness?

V34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

  29. Who are you bringing ?

25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

You attitude and what comes out of your mouth greatly affects those around you. If you are trying to draw people to God or plant seed , how are you going to to do that if you or your attitude stink?

Jesus told us to get souls. If we are not reaching then we definitely are not obeying. This is one reason that sister Bernadini’s ministry is so powerful.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10 KJV)

  30. 15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.

What is the best way to know a counterfeit from the real? To study so close the real that once something fake comes along you’ll be able to spot it and say that’s not what the Wird says. That is why is imperative to study God’s word that we may not be swayed with everything/doctrine told to us. Wo don’t have to take everything that is told, but we must be able to discern with wisdom.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39

  31. Those who follow the right path fear the Lord; those who take the wrong path despise him. (Proverbs 14:2 NLT)

  32. Bite your tongue

17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

The only good anger is the anger you have towards the devil otherwise your wasting your energy and breath. If something upsets you instead of foolishly lashing out you need to ‘bite your tongue’. No good will come from an angry mouth.

  33. A Wise Woman Builds

vs1 The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

Some people who are unfamiliar with the whole of Scripture believe that women are depicted in the Bible as second-class citizens, or htat their personal power is minimalized. Here is one of many examples of how God views a wise and righteous woman. A woman of the church is a builder, a pilar a staple. Not only does she exert enormous influence over her family, but she has also been given the strength and resource which to build an enduring home nad life, “brick by brick”. Each time she acts in wisdom, making daily decision that build up her family and community rather than tear it down, she secures her foundation for the future. If, on the other hand, she lets folly dictate her behavior she undermines her own best interests as well as her family and her community’s. any woman (or man) who fails to pursue wisdom or fails to let God determine proper priorities will be destructive rather than life-giving. We have the opportunity, the privledge to build or folly to destroy. Remember the enemy came to steal, kill and destroy. God is everything Holy, righteous… everything the enemy cannot be, cannot counterfeit. iBuild.
