Proverbs 31

1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

  1. 10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

I thank God for my priceless wife that doesn’t sit idle, but looks well to our household and children; she is blessed and is a blessing to us!

    Proverbs 18:22 KJV
22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing , and obtaineth favour of the Lord.

  2. Ilove to eat the Word

    “Open Your Mouth with Kindness”

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

We all need to open our mouths with wisdom and start speaking out of kindness.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. (Galatians 6:1-3 KJV)

There are those who would try to critique every little thing about you, but the tongue of grace does not.

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (Colossians 4:6 KJV)

  3. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Many things can be said of the virtuous woman and how great she is to he household. I want to think on being idle, what a waste of time to need to be busy but we are idle all day,
The old saying that an idle mind is the devil’s work shop, we must never let ourselves become idle. The word teaches us to be busy, even JESUS said I must be about my fathers business. There is always something we need to do in the kingdom of GOD. Let me never eat the bread of idleness. There will be times of idleness that can or will come in all our lives, the choice will be ours what we do about it.
We as children of GOD should learn how to manage our time. Managers of our time will help us work our schedule not allow us to waste time or destroy opportunities. The time is to short to let anything stop us from doing the work that God has for us to do!

I BID ALL OF POFW GOD SPEED!!!!

  4. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

Ladies, we need to build our husbands up and back them and be there for them. Don’t ever do anything that will bring shame to your husband. I’m thankful and blessed that God gave me a God fearing loving husband. There are men out there that are wolves in sheeps clothing. If you are looking for a man pray that God will send you one that will love you and is in church.
You need to make your husband looks nice before he goes out of the house. Clothes pressed, hair combed, etc. it is a reflection on us ladies how our husbands look. We need to make sure our husbands feel loved and wanted. Don’t put friends/family before your spouse. How do you think that makes your husband feels, what if he did the same thing to you? Sometimes we just gotta stop and think am I doing the right thing. A man’s good reputation begins with his home and thus the virtue of his wife. Ladies what kind of reputation are we giving our husbands??

  5. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Fruit is the evidence of something that has been planted, pruned, blossomed and produced. Everything we do as woman is going to produce some type of fruit, the fruit of hard work, the fruit of love, the fruit of tender care and concern, the fruit of compassion. Those who have planted a garden know that it takes much work to produce the harvest that is desired. You must prepare the ground, plant the seed, weed the garden, water it daily, and then reap the harvest.

Many times as women we do not see the immediate fruit of our labor that we invest in our families, our spouses, our friends, our church, our ministry, our jobs. But we are daily investing into that growth. First we must be sure that we are allowing the proper fruit to grow in our lives (fruit of the spirit), then we must be a light and example. Those Christ like attitudes and actions will be the fruit that people see in us. And last but not least, we must cultivate everything we do in prayer, fasting and the Word of God so that our own works will praise us, and our fruit baskets shall be full.

  6. v30 Favour is deceitful , and beauty is vain: but the a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Satan has lots of dangerous substitutes to fill in the emptiness . For everything that is real there is a substitute.
GOD IS REAL AND HE LOVES REALAITY.
    Have faith and fear GOD.
There’s no power in the world nothing can separate us from the love of GOD.

  7. This chapter illustrates example. There are many examples, which all have value, where some teach correctness others teach incorrectness. Albeit one would be wise to follow a good example; “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  8. DISCIPLINE

3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

Temptation is a common struggle for the believer. The spirit of fornication and the spirit of alcohol are the 2 most lucrative industries in the earth. They are of this world and will perish in the day fo judgement. Until then men and women alike will be tempted in the 2 areas.

In this closing Proverb of Solomon, he includes The words of king Lemuel, that address these 2 areas of life. The daily discipline of prayer, bible study and witnessing are the keys to avoiding the traps of addiction in these areas.

    MSG
4-7 “Leaders can’t afford to make fools of themselves,
    gulping wine and swilling beer,
Lest, hung over, they don’t know right from wrong,
and the people who depend on them are hurt.
Use wine and beer only as sedatives,
to kill the pain and dull the ache
    Of the terminally ill,
for whom life is a living death.

Leave IT alone, pray, study, worship, live for JESUS.

  9. Psalm31:25
Strength and honor are her clothing:
And she shall rejoice in time to come.
—- after all the things she does and keep up with, it says that her clothing is strenght and honor, it’s just simply that this woman have a great relationship with his FATHER! And the thus woman is described is just simply the fruit of it.( I believe A GREAT WOMAN OF PRAYER)
I want to be like that, I will; in Jesus name!!!!

  10. Wife of Noble Character
    vs10-31

If we read this detailed description of the ideal wife and mother as the point-by-point standard God expects us to live up to, we’re bound to feel overwhelmed and exhausted before we even begin! The intention of this epilogue to the book of Proverbs wasn’t to give women an impossible list of to-do’s but to spread out before us the many opportunities we have to use their gifts, talents and wisdom in fulfilling and productive ways. Rather than limiting women’s roles, they are expanded endlessly. As women we are created to have a positive and profound impact on everyone around us- whether it be our husbands, children, parents, friends, clients, customers or society in general. Being a woman is a blessing, and being a wise, strong and dignified woman is a blesses others in ways that can’t be calculated. As we put some of the noble wife’s talents into a modern context, we recognize her in ourselves and our sisters. A wife of noble character wears many faces and fills many roles – roles that can change with the seansons of her life. In essence she draws her strength from the Lord to lay down her life for those she loves. Her creative industry may fill her day with countless activities or only one or two which she gives herself deeply. Her reward? Her children adore her. Her husband cherishes her company, trusts her judgment and brags about her to all his friends. She will be remembered- long after she is gone- not as a woman who beautifully knit a sweater or successfully balanced a budget but as a woman who sought the Lord first of all.

Charn is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate (vs 30-31).

  11. 31 10-31
these verses were dedicated to his mother Bathsheba. The real contribution of this passage is to demonstrate that women played an important social and economic role in Old Testament times

  12. I LOVE JESUS AND CHURCH

the Bible is very clear about a godly woman.
They have to be submissive to thier husbands in a/holy way.
Pastor looks after our life we have to listen to them and most of all fear God and that which is Holy. I thank the Lord for my life but w/out authority in God’s Word we are nothing to this perverse world.
I wouldnt know what I know except what pastor has taught me and his wife.
Thank u pofw for not shoving me out the window when I dont obey God.
I want to keep on believing in faith thats all I try to keep and not let go of it. Thats a woman that I desire to be hope it wont take a long time. Thats why I keep going to church to find that better life that God wants to give us me I.

I apologize to Jesus. I search for Jesus only.(truth).

  13. A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman–who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls. (Proverbs 31:10 AMP)
A woman like this…. Wow!! Not to hard to see and recognize. In our church I’ve seen her. And she’s beautiful. She’s committed to the call that has been placed upon her life.
As a woman myself I wasnt born a proverbs 31, but it is my hearts desire to become one.
I’ve come along way, I have learned, obeyed, and applied. Being busy in The Lord’s house will and can keep you from idleness, gossiping, sin, etc. everything that women get so caught up in.

  14. A Good Woman
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

    Virtuous means-Showing high moral standards.

When someone is virtuous you don’t really know every little bump that us in their road. They tend to keep their thoughts on God and pray for help rather than bad talk others until everyone knows. Virtuous women are that superb example that we should strive to obtain.

Sister watts is a wonderful and VIRTUOUS WOMAN that has been placed Pofw. She shows God in her faithfulness. I thank God that we don’t have to pay for her, because we would not be able to afford her.

    Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

  15. A mother’s love is unconditional and always wants what’s best for her children. In this Chapter a mother’s love is evident that she would like the best for her son. She explains to her son that a fool can make wrong choices but that a wise decision may depend on her

  16. The blessing of a woman.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

As I was reading this, my thoughts turned to my mother. I was thinking how she did alot of these things. I am also reminded of where the scriptures say when a man findeth a wife he finds a good thing. THis chapter says alot of what the women did back in the Bible days. In todays terms even though the job has not changed, it has changed in how we must do things.

  17. A woman that fears the Lord shall be praised. Many different referances here in regards of a virtuous woman. Both husband anf chuldren will call her blessed. My wife is definately a blessed woman and she has a big heart for Jesus and her family too…..

    “Now”….

  18. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. (Proverbs 31:26 NLT)

Thankful for wise women in my life who give instructions with kindness. Lord, mold and shape me to become like a Proverb 31 women.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU DADDY!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

  21. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Time and time again throughout the proverbs Solomon warned about the “strange woman”
We all can agree he some experience with women 700 wives, 300 concubines, some princesses that were mentioned but not numbered or named. Now he dedicates the last chapter and final instructions about alcohol and 2/3 of the chapter about the “virtuous woman” it almost feels as if in the proverbs he tried to redeem his mistakes by warning other not to fall on the same mistakes and or traps. Men are the ones with authority but women have influence, which can be very powerful and dangerous. The perfect example Ahab and Jezebel. Ahab was king, Jezebel just bent him whichever way she wanted.
Now here Solomon seems to say: at last!!! I finally found her!! It’s as if he discovered a treasure. The way he describes the virtuous woman is splendid. Quality after quality, attributes and description of some one beautiful, a treasure from the Lord, God sent.
The word says that every good thing is from the Lord. Solomon even wrote it himself “House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord.”
As I read this chapter and meditated on the others, thinking about Solomon, could it be that a lot of his trouble, pain, and heart ache was caused by pursuing “what he wanted, when he wanted” being self willed and thus rejecting what the Lord wanted for him, at the Lord’s time and what the Lord said? Then stepped back and reflected…. And realized. Perhaps he looked at his mother, perhaps somebody else’s wife, or a godly friend, maybe even the shulamite woman..and in all that perhaps all the wisdom that God had gifted him with was remembered and kicked in what was taught. Thus he finally says the last words of the proverbs, which I believe apply to both men and women:

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Someone that fears the Lord shall be praised. How should you know such a person by the fruits. Actions speak boldly, and our of the abundance of the heart speaks the mouth..also how can you know by acquiring wisdong and knowledge like we were instructed in the proverbs

  22. Verse 21 MSG “She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.” This verse spoke to me about being ready. This verse says she doesn’t worry because all has already been mended, prepared and is ready for such a time as this. If we tend to our homes and our families with the love of God, there is nothing to fret or worry about. For we have instilled the necessary foundations to withstand anything that may come against our homes.

The ending verses of the chapter say “…..The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God……”

  23. Fear Him

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. (Proverbs 31:30 KJV)

Of all the things a woman should learn to endure anything in life is to fear The Lord. God will provide, teach and mend anything by such humbleness.

  24. Clothed With Christ

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

When we go through the winter seasons of life, we find ourselves desperately clinging to (or seeking if we lack) what keeps us warm.

    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts). (Romans 13:14 AMP)

    Revelation 19:11-13
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

There is a scarlet garment that banishes the cold like none other, and it is Jesus. Covered by Him and His righteousness, we find warmth as an answer to sin and the hard times in life. Cold seasons need not intimidate us; with Christ, we can walk through any season with victory!

  25. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
