Ecclesiastes 3

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

  1. A time to:

I like this chptr alot. It makes you feel happy that there is a time for happiness or sadness, to love or hate ect. I dont feel so bad now. God describes that these are normal emotions, and not abnormal. That is Wonderful!
This chptr is so true to.
Thank you Jesus you are a Great God for everything you Are You are a True friend.

15/ That which hath been is now and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

Sometimes just telling someone who I used to be and where God brought me out of it makes them realize there is a way OUT. I really believe (past) is the way to God’s heart.
    Thank you my Saved Savior.

  2. 14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

Nothing can change what God has done, or said He will do; it is established.

    Psalm 119:89 KJV
For ever, O Lord , thy word is settled in heaven.

  3. This chapter starts with there is a season and a time to every purpose, then it ends with a man should rejoice in his own works. In the center of all this the word tells us God made everything beautiful in his time.

I just pray today that I will know my purpose in the kingdom of God and I will be where I need to be at the right time. What a greater honor could given to any man than to be able to rejoice in his works, at the end of his life look back and rejoice I have did the WILL OF GOD!!

  4. 2-8 A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace. MSG

Timing is everything. Good times and bad times come to everyone. Depending on how we handle the good and the bad will determine if we go thru that trail again. Life changes often and wise preparation is needed to make the best of it. We should seek God’s guidance as we deal with the changing times and seasons of our life. There are many things we have no control over but we can choose our own conduct, form our own character, decide to obey God or not. What do you choose to do today?

  5. 12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

There is a natural reward for our work here. We reap what we sow. The key to reaping is that first we must work. When we work at our jobs our reward is the paycheck we receive-and if you listen to Mr. Budget, eventually you will have funds left over to enjoy the way you choose. There is also the reward for the work we do for God. We not only rejoice here over souls we labor to bring to God, but we also have an eternal reward-jewels in a crown of life, then life with Jeses!!!!

  6. REJOICE

22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

This verse inspires me once more to work for GOD. Pleasing GOD is honestly the only truly gratifying work we can rejoice over. Most people enjoy their profession (Work).

I do not consider the Ministry a profession, however in the worlds/governments eyes it could possibly be considered a profession. Reality, Ministry is a calling, by GOD, for GOD, to GOD and there is no greater opportunity to WORK than to WORK for JESUS and HIS eternal calling.

    A man should rejoice in his own works;

The word “works” here in verse 22 is not limited to your profession in the eyes of GOD, but also our actions, decisions and activity. Living our lives in a lifestyle that is not only pleasing and honoring GOD through obedience and submission, we also find opportunity to serve (Work) in HIS Kingdom. This is the type of WORK we can REJOICE over. Not the earthly possessions we may be blessed to acquire, but the lives, that are “Impacted” by our service (Work) in the Kingdom of GOD. Let us be commited to “WORK” for the eternal reward of eternal PRAISE and REJOICING.

Galatians 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

    Everyone can do Kingdom WORK.

    Have a GOoD Blessed day!

    iPray

  7. 3:1 to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.
    —–
This is my season , a season to believe
    – more than ever that my GOD is in
Control, a season to rejoice, a season to expect,to love, to forgive………
-BE STILL ( Alejandra)AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.
In Jesus name!!!!!!!!thank you Abba for your patience love and mercy.

  8. This chapter has been a comfort to my spirit many times. We can always be assured by His word that there are many seasons in our life, and although we will be face with seasons that are dark, or lonely, we will come through that season and enter another season where there will be joy, reaping, harvest. We would never enjoy the rainbow without the rain, likewise we can never truly enjoy the good, if we haven’t come through some bad to be thankful for the good. To everything there is a season…….a time to every purpose under heaven.

  9. 22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

    Inheritance

As I saw the passing of my father, I learned something, No matter what the “last requests” are, families have hard ties dealing with loss. As I was able to talk with friends afterwards, many of them who had lost family members, explained that their family tore apart after their loss.

We have no way of knowing what certain family members will do with our prized possessions, when we pass. We don’t know how they are going to feel towards God. The Word tells us to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he wiill not depart. The word also tells us that it is appointed man once to die, That our next breath is not even promised. So why are we so vain as to think that we need to leave this empire to our children.

David left a great and mighty kingdom to Solomon, and Solomon wasted it when he married all these heathen women, and begun to support threm and their habbits of serving false gods.

The word tells us that we would be wise to leave provisions for our children, should we pass, but more than money and riches in this world, we would be wise to prepare them for the world to come, when Christ comes back. We must teach them. The only inheratance that will live on is what we are able to instill deep inside of them. For if we teach a true reverance and fear of God, they will follow…

  10. ILove to eat the Word

    Got Lazy Bones

And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 3:13 KJV)

    God loves a Hard Worker!
The fruit of our labour is a gift of God! God rewards Hard Work. God approves of Hard Work. It is the will of God to Work Hard! (If the Union ever found this out, I’m sure they would call a Strike against God).

It all started at the garden if Eden. “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. (Genesis 2:15 KJV)”
    God sees Hard Work!
“I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. (Revelation 2:2 NLT)

    God rewards hard work
Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper. (Proverbs 13:4 NLT)

When preachers come into our church and make statements that our Pastor one of the hardest workers they’ve ever met… THAT is one of the greatest compliments a human can receive!

    Lets wake up and work!

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber. (Proverbs 6:6-11 NLT)

  11. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for
ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

    Now!
There is nothing new. My God was a healer, is a healer and will always be a healer. He is a way maker, a provider, He is the “I Am”

  12. God makes everything happen at the right time. Yet none of us can ever fully understand all he has done, and he puts questions in our minds about the past and the future. because God’s gift to us is the happiness we get from our food and drink and from the work we do. Everything God has done will last for ever; nothing he does can ever be changed. God has done all this, so that we will worship him. (Ecclesiastes 3:11, 13, 14 CEVUK00)
God has everything in His hands when thing are good and when things are bad I can have joy because everything under heaven is His and He made Gen 1:1-2
The world God created, but it was dark and the waters was flowing maybe had storms but it was still under God control. We will have dark times and the waters of this world will flow but just know its all under Gods control and He will move over the waters and bring light.

  13. This chapter illustrates deception. Carnal thoughts make way for deception, the deceiver would that all should be lost; “The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts”. However once one is filled with God’s (Jesus) Spirit, one will definitely know; “O taste and see that the Lord is good”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  14. 16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

In our lives we’re gonna see things like hypocrisy and injustice. We’re gonna see things in places and people that shouldn’t be there. We have to remember God is working in everybody and he knows what he’s doing. Let us not put ourselves in the judgment seat when we see our brothers and sisters at fault because we ourselves are far from perfect. We all fall short from the glory of God no matter what it is that’s going on we must stay submitted stay humble and not let resentment or unforgiviness resonate in our heart’s. Everything has purpose. God is still GOD and people are still people.

  15. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
    SANTO DIOS!!!
EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME!!! HIS TIME!!! SO THEN WHY DO WE GO AROUND TRYING TO FORCE THINGS!!! IT’S ALLLLL IN GODS TIME!!! YOU NEED SOMETHING!!! GODS GOT IT!!! GODS GOT A BLESSING WITH MY NAME ON IT!!! BUT ITS IN HIS TIME!!! WHICH IS NEVER EARLY OR TOOOOO LATE!!! HE IS ALWAYS ON TIME!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! I SERVE AN ONTIME GOD!! GRACIAS PADRE !!!

  16. The Beautification of the Meek

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

    Psalms 149:3-4
Let them praise his name in the dance:
let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people:
he will beautify the meek with salvation.

The word meek means humble, poor, and lowly.

    The dictionary definition is
Quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive: “the meek compliance of our politicians”.
    Synonyms
    gentle – mild – humble – submissive – tame – soft

God makes everything beautiful in his time. That means this is a process. This also means that meekness is a choice. We choose whether to accept the direction, command, or leading of authority with a good attitude, and submissive spirit.

God tries the hearts, and knows our thoughts. Meekness is seen on the inside more than the outside. We can do what we are told, but not be in agreement.

Another word for beautify is glorify. He will glorify those who remain meek, who choose submission with a joyful attitude, and don’t just comply, but buy in. There reward is salvation: welfare, prosperity, victory, deliverance.

Our blessing is in our dressing!

    1 Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be CLOTHED with humility:for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Strong’s says clothed like this “”gird yourselves with humility as your servile garb” means by putting on humility, show your subjection one to another. Also, this refers to the overalls which slaves wore to keep clean while working, an exceedingly humble garment.”

    What are you wearing?

  17. v17 I said in mine heart, GOD shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

GOD does not see time as we do.
2 Peter 3:8 says….” A thousand years is as one day”

We must spend our time wisely . Revelation 10:6 says…. Time will be no more.

The time is Now. Time to repent and turn to GOD. Time to decide where will you spend eternity . Once time is gone it can never be replaced.

    iRepent
    iPray
    iPraise
    iGive

  18. 11. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to

14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

15 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

    Let God be God…
I love this chapter. There is nothing that can be that hasn’t already been. Everything comes in cycles and seasons and you can surprise God with anything. There’s no situation that hasn’t already been handled by God, there’s no sickness that hasn’t already been healed by God, there’s no power that hasn’t already been defeated by the almighty God…. And what he does it’s forever! Nothing can be added and nothing taken away from it. This just gets me excited to live for God. And right here is where we might run into some trouble. God already knows, that which was (our past) which is, (now) and which is to come. Although sometimes we try and play God. Help God a little with timing circumstances this should be this way and this that way. God knows best. No matter what we do, what He does is forever. Nothing can be added nothing taken away. We frustrate ourselves by taking on His role.
Everything is beautiful in His time.
If you’re wondering why this or that is not working out, have you considered that verse?

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

  19. Bigger than our thought.

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

What is time? Webster says this- time, n.
1a : the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues : duration b : a nonspatial continuum that is measured in terms of events which succeed one another from past through present to future.
I would like to focus on the word measured. THis means that time has a beginning and end, if it is measured. The reason why ,I believe, that scientist believe in the big bang theory; is because it has a beginning. In this passage it states that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. So here is then a great scripture to tell all your science friends. God makes all things work for the good, even if it doesnt seem like it. I am reminded of the scripture, Be not decieved, God is not mocked. God also made the simple to confound the wise, which means alot of book smarts dosen’t always mean start. It simply means you need to learn to trust God in all things.

  20. Reading the first seven verse reminded me of a song by Mandisa called THESE DAYS

    (Verse 1)
I never liked mondays or bad news
    Or breaking in new shoes
And mornings when I can’t find my phone

Nobody likes traffic or short nights
    Or sit-ups or long flights
    But sometimes
That’s just the way it goes

It’s funny what you use to help me grow

    (Chorus)
So I’ll learn to love these days
    Life along the way
    In the middle
    Of the crazy
God, your love is so amazing

    Through the ups and downs
Your the only hope I’ve found
    Lord you meet me
    In the madness
So I’ll learn to love these days
    Learn to love these days

    (Verse 2)
    I can see silver lining
    When the suns not shining
    Even when you
    Choose to bring the rain

    Oh, but there’s freedom believing
    And trusting your leading
Cause your lord of all my joy and all my pain

    (Chorus)

I could waste a hundred years
    You gave me here
The days when you were near
The days when I was out there
    Looking for what comes next

    Ohoh cause every minute,
    Every hour
    Everyday is such a gift
    And I’m content
    I’m thankful for each breath

    (Chorus)

So I’ll learn to love these days (X3)

I have learned that when I dance in the rain, the storm isn’t as bad as it first seemed. Just like a seed needs water to grow, we should embrace the rain and know that we to will grow into something as well.

  21. Unchanging God & Protector

I know that whatever God does, it endures forever; nothing can be added to it nor anything taken from it. And God does it so that men will [reverently] fear Him [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is]. (Ecclesiastes 3:14 AMP)

Rejoicing in knowing the Great ” I AM” . He changes not.
Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages). (Hebrews 13:8 AMP).

We have also have Divine Protection when we fear the Lord.
The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers. (Psalm 34:7 AMP)

  22. 10-11

The burden the lost carry is awareness that something more exists in this world and not being able to grasp what it is. Humans haqve a capacity for external things and a realization that this life can not be all there is sin has cut us off from eternity and darkend are understanding and will. What a burden to want eternity and not know God.

  23. Vs. 17, “I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

2 Cor. 5:10 says, “For we must all appear before the judgement set of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

We will all one day stand before God and be judged or held accountable for the things we have done.

  24. Seasons

To everything there is a season ,and a time to every purpose under the heaven……..and a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn ,and a time to dance.
    Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

grief is like a season in many ways. it goes through stages, each with its own special characteristics. some of these characteristics are brutal, Lord; others are comforting. but like the seasons, grief eventually gives way to sorrow, to acceptance, to understanding, even to joy for the time we had with the one we lost. a wise woman is always prepared for greIf, because it comes to all. A wise woman also knows that grief does pass with time. when my time comes to grieve, Lord, be with me. Hold me up with Your mighty arms until I can stand on my own once more. haste in the passing of my season of grief.

  25. Ecclesiastes 3:11
The chapter summarized: God’s beautiful but tantalizing world is to big for us, yet it’s satisfactions are too small. Since we were made for eternity, the things of tin

  26. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him. (Ecclesiastes 3:8, 11, 12, 14 NLT)

  27. V14. Whatever God does is eternal. He is the only source of self sufficient power. Everything in creation depends on him for substance. Even in heaven, we will depend on him.

We should walk in fear before The Lord for whatever he does, and understand there are seasons to everything. There are seasons in our spiritual walk as well. Sometimes we are in the valley, sometimes we suffer. It may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.

  28. The question is what time is it now in your life? There is a time for every season….just stay connected. Rejoice in your work…and remember the God of Jacob is our help.

    Be blessed…

  29. Verse 1 MSG “There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:”

opportune: appropriate, favorable, or suitable, occurring or coming at an appropriate time; well-timed.

Our (POFW) right time is NOW!

  30. 17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Judgement will come no matter the good or bad, God blesses the good deeds and good works. God has no mercy for the bad and the wicked.

  31. Harvest

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    Psalms 126:5
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

Pain is part of the process, but only part. God ordained a law of harvest, that there would be an answer to labor. It reminds me of:

    John 16:21
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

God balances sowing and reaping, and we see many things in life follow the pattern of pain first, joy second. Our impulse is to seek happiness first, pain never, but God’s way opens the door to the blessing of multiplication. We give and it is given, reflected back as greater blessing than we could have hoped to keep to ourselves.

    Luke 13:18-19
18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

There is greatness ahead; pain shouldn’t discourage us but remind us of the harvest.

    Galatians 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

  32. How are you using your time?

Everyday should be lived as it were your last. In other words, we don’t have time to waste. God has a plan for us and it’s important for us to follow it. Don’t let the enemy throw you off track from where God wants you to go.

  33. 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

There’s always a time for something….the question is will you be ready..??

  34. Its nice to see the Teacher “Solomon’s” change in tone. I believe its because he is getting his attention off world and putting his focus on God. He knows God is a God of order explained from vs 1-11 and says that he ‘knows’ of God’s omnipotence in vs 14 “that everything that God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing can be taken away from it. God does it so that men can revere him.” He is gifted with wisdom, but he only uses a spoonful here. He is spiritually starving himself. I’m not sure of all his motives in this book but one of them seems to be that he wants to ‘experiement’ on what the ‘meaning of life’ is, maybe it’s because he grew up under king David’s covering of annointing he is curious of what is on the other side. Sad thing is that he knows he won’t find happiness in the things of this world, eat and drink are only temporarily satisfying, and he knows it. There is a difference between being smart and being wise, a smart man may know God, but the wise man follows God.

  35. Are you in God’s time?

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

The first of this boom is so well know to the world. The famous song with “turn, turn, turn.” I think of it often when this scripture is referenced. I also think of death. People often bring up this s scripture when someone dies.

I think the best part of it are the opposites. Sometimes we get stuck. We might be in one place and think we need to stay there. God may want us to do the opposite. It is wonderful to know that sometimes there is a reason we feel the way we do. It’s an opposite.

  36. It’s your season

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
