Ecclesiastes 11

1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.

He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:

But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

  1. The Lord made it:

I love Jesus w unfailling love. And the scripture that said “God made womb and no one knows how God made it and noone knows how this life is going to turn out but Him.” this is so true to me in my heart. I pray that i can be released in my living situation everyday, from The Lord, cause He’s the only one that does those things. Ive been wanting to be back to pofw on a regular basis for 8 mos. And only God can make that happen for me. Go back to where I came from. But i love the Lord still no matter what how or when He makes things happen for me. He is still on His Throne. Thank u pofw for loving praying for me i love yall in Jesus Great Name.

  2. Carpe Diem

7 Oh, how sweet the light of day,
And how wonderful to live in the sunshine!
8 Even if you live a long time, don’t take a single day for granted.
Take delight in each light- filled hour,
Remembering that there will also be many dark days
And that most of what comes your way is smoke.

John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The phrase carpe diem is a latin term meaning seize the day.

The rabbinical book “Pirkei Avot” or “Ethics of the Fathers” had an equivalent hebrew saying: “If not now, then when.”

Many have dreams, and aspirations. Some can stretch imagination far off to create worlds of possibility in their minds. Yet the person who only watches documentaries concerning archeology, but never does it, is no archeologist.

The same is true for the kingdom. God has called us for mighty things! As we set upon a mighty precipice of growth, revival, and unprecedented harvest we must not only dream, but also get to work.

Hartvig Nissen, a prolific gymnastics teacher from the 1800s said it like this: “Don’t put off to tomorrow what you can do to-day.”

Every major revival had a starting point in history. Instead of waiting for it to happen lets seize the day, and start the fire to make it happen!

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
    – Philippians 3:13-14

Instead of pining away for the rapture, and our reward in heaven lets go after everything God has for us here. We should enjoy his blessings, and his spirit. Reaching for people while telling them about how good God is to us will perk up their interest. Our smiles will testify of the wondrous abundant life we live in Jesus!

John 10:10b I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

  3. 5. As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

We don’t know all God has done or all that He plans to do. He has so much going on that we can’t see; we just know that His ways are perfect and He knows what is best for us. God has a plan for each of us, we just need to submit to His will and allow Him to work in our lives.

    “Daydreaming”

4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

It’s nice to have our heads in the clouds and imagine what our future might be. To lay down in the soft green grass of our ipad screen gazing into iCloud downloading the next life changing app. “Yeah, I’m gonna do this and I need to do that…yeah tomorrow I’m gonna get right on it…”

It’s time to get up and smell the virtual coffee bean app!

Lets get to work. How can we expect to prosper in life when all we do is daydream and livestream?

Lets stop using Facebook to tear folks down and actually try to encourage someone. Get your cushion outta bed and put yourself to work!

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: (Proverbs 6:6-10 KJV)

  5. Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you. But divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead. (Ecclesiastes 11:1, 2 NLT)

    Don’t be stingy…. GIVE!!

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Luke 6:38 KJV)

  6. Verse 9 NLT “Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.”

Many young people are so eager to become older; but, enjoy your youth for it only comes once. You have probably heard it a thousand times; but, use wisdom and listen to the plan that God is imparting into your life. The Lord has placed certain authority figures in your life for guidance, as models and to restrain you from making mistakes that can cost you the ultimate price.

    Youth for Christ!

  7. Bless the LORD!🎶🎶🎶
O my soul, bless his holy 🎶🎶🎶name!!🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 .

11:9 Rejoice o young man in thy youth:
And let thy heart cheer thee in the days of
Thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine
Heart, and in the sight of thine eyes:but know
Thou this: that fort all these things,GOD will bring thee into judgment .
    —–
So, is it working for you? Come on!go ahead a continue doing what your flesh wants,
Me,me,me you might be ( at peace) in your eyes, but it’s gonna come a time to where you are going to see with your own eyes that your ideas are not working, maybe because of pride?
Maybe you already know what right in the eyes of GOD but you don’t want to do it yet..
    – do not know, God is going to take care if it sooner or later.
    WHY? WHY? WHY?
( can’t wait to share the word of GOD with my young sisters)
Good is good, and if we obey the consequences at the end will be good. But if not?hmmm?

  8. 9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

A commandment for the young. Our youth is not something we should take for granted. When you are young, the enemy will do his best to lead you in the wrong direction. This is where it comes in handy to know the true word of God. When the enemy comes in like a flood the spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against it. God will hold you accountable for your sins. You cannot pin your sins on anybody else, saying they made you do it. We must all answer for our own sins.

  9. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
YES!!! HALELUJAH !!! BREAD…… WHEN CAST UPON WATER, IT EXPANDS!!! IF WE GIVE, IF WE REACH OUT TO THE LOST, IF WE BE OBEDIENT!!! GOD WILL BLESS US!!! GOD ISN’T STINGY!!! HE HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO BLESS US WITH!!! HAVE WE CAST OUR BREAD UPON THE WATERS??? I MEAN LITERALLY, IF IT WAS OUR LAST PIECE OF BREAD, AND GOD SAID TO CAST IT UPON THE WATERS….. WOULD WE??? TRUST ISSUE, MAYBE??? BUT WHEN DO WE RECEIVE OUR BLESSING??? IT’S NOT ABOUT WHEN IT’S ABOUT HOWS MY ATTITUDE TOWARDS GOD…….AM I HAPPY, CHEERFULLY WAITING AND TRUSTING GOD OR AM I WEEPING AND SIMPLY NOT TRUSTING IN GOD (Disobedient)
SANTO SANTO SANTO!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  10. 5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

The infinite mind of God is more than we can ever comprehend. How we could plan and place this world and everything in it into existence. Yet He cares so much for each of us, that the very hair of our heads are numbered. Yet, we can learn of His ways by spending time with Him in the things that are important to Him: His Word, Communicating with HIm through prayer, listening to Him, not just talking. All these things will help us to KNOW Him, so that when judgement day arrives, He doesn’t say to us, depart from me I never KNEW you!

  11. This chapter illustrates receive. Hearken unto the Lord; “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. 4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

This chapter is a good chapter on giving. Yes, giving to people that have a poverty mentality may seem pointless but it is biblical and God desires us to help the poor. We must consider the cause of their situation, pray for them and use discernment when helping them.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it. Proverbs 29:7

  13. 9 Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. (NLT)
9 Be cheerful and enjoy life while you are young! Do what you want and find pleasure in what you see. But don’t forget that God will judge you for everything you do. (CEV)

*We, youth, are all accountable for our own actions. Wanting to do our own thing and trying to grow up faster than we should. We need to be responsible and know that every action we take comes with consequences. So…

10 Therefore remove [the lusts that end in] sorrow and vexation from your heart and mind and put away evil from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity [transitory, idle, empty, and devoid of truth]. (AMP)

  14. Ecclesiastes 11:10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

To me this speaks alot, I had to remove great sorrow from my heart so that evil and bitterness would not overcome me and cause my heart to act of the immaturity of a undisciplined, unforgiving child.

    Gods mercy never fails!

  15. iGive

1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.

The command given here is about giving; sowing seed or releasing what we have been given from GOD back to the HAND of GOD in numerous areas.

    The GIVING principal is this:\

GIVE and IT WILL come back to YOU.

NOW is the TIME to TRUST GOD and GIVE.

The Pentecostals of Fort Worth has been built on this principal.

    1. We support over 30 Missionaries around the world and in the USA.
    2. We give to our community through Outreach events.
    3. We give to the 5 fold ministry through Evangelists, Teachers, Prophets, Apostles and Pastors.
    4. We give to the poor through 5 loaves.

We are still looking for portions to sow into the Kingdom of GOD.

As believers we are called to fulfill the WILL and PLAN of GOD.

Luke 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

    iGIVE
    iGO
    iFOLLOW
    iREAP

    In JESUS name.

  16. 6 Be sure to stay busy and plant a variety of crops, for you never know which will grow—perhaps they all will.

It reminds of that saying ” don’t put all of your eggs in one basket”.

Giving all our attention to one thing is never good. We can easily lose sight of God’s will in our life. This principle can be applied to every aspect of our lives. Yes we might be good at something, but we should just do that one thing. We must continue trying new things…you never know how many other talents you have hidden within you.

  17. 4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE CLOUDS
The wind is something that is always there day and night. If we spend time spacing out or observing something as unimportant as the wind we might miss our Chance to sow seed somewhere. We need to get our heads out of the cloud because opportunity is all around us!! Let’s get our heads in the game and remember the souls, everyone we pass on the street could be hungry and searching for God and we won’t even notice if we have our heads in the clouds. The clouds and the wind are always gonna be there, they’re here today and will come again without a doubt. But the Chance to sow seed is a precious Chance we shouldn’t take lightly.

  18. Think about it.

5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

These are very true words. We don’t know know how the bones are made or how God does things. This is the awesomeness of our God.

  19. The investment of a life

Ecclesiastes 11:7-10 Live life to the fullest.

11:8, 10 vanity…vanity. Warns against letting the wonderful gifts mentioned in vv.7-10 dazzle and distract us.Verse 9 sets us on the true course.
V.9 Rejoice,O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in Thy sight of thine eyes:but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgement. Ch.12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

  20. Remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from your flesh.

Don’t be sad…”Rejoice”…and keep from sin.

    Be blessed……..

  21. 4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. NIV
You can’t just look around and expect thing to get done. Must have work back bone. If you try to find the wind you can’t find you will accomplish no thing if you look at the clouds for rain you will get no thing.
Don’t worry about where the wind is and where the storm is coming from and how big it is trust God and keep moving don’t look at the clouds and wonder where the light is because on the other side of the clouds there is light and some day soon God will move.
    Genesis 1:1-3
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
There was darkness on the earth in till God moved and spoke. So trust God and Waite on him to peak and move then light will come and he will divid the dark from ligh.

  22. Sow your seed in the morning, and do not stop working until the evening; for you do not know which activity will succeed – whether this one or that one, or whether both will prosper equally. -Ecclesiastes 11:6

The POFW are a great example of this verse. Sowing, tending & reaping is what we do. But God gives the increase.

  23. 5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

This verse makes me think of our new church. We have no idea how God is going to work things out for us- yet we trust him for all the church’s needs. We know its coming & it will only be through looking back that we can realize everything God did to make it happen! I praise him in advance!!!

  24. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

It’s time to get over it and get happy! Life is too short to dwell on our sorrows. Brokenness and evil things will consume us if we choose to keep them in our lives and before we realize it we are much further down the road of time than we intended to be still entertaining those things.

    Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared:for this day is holy unto our Lord:neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Get happy and make the most of the day you have!

  25. The Lord sees what all is in our heart, he will judge us no matter if you are good or bad. It’s wise to make the right choices NOW because at judgement day it will be too late.

    I seek you Lord.

  26. 2 Don’t hoard your goods; spread them around. Be a blessing to others. This could be your last night MSG

Take care of your family first he that don’t take care of his family is worse than an infidel. When you help someone you don’t help them in the regards what do I get out of it. Sometimes being a blessing to someone is a smile and a kind word to them. Your actions speak louder than your words.

  27. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

When you are sad, remove it from your heart. Sadness left in a heart will lead to bitterness. Bitterness is a spiritual cancer. Repent forgive heal and live.

  28. Reaping

1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

Send your grain across the seas, and in time, profits will flow back to you. (Ecclesiastes 11:1 NLT)

This was one of the first verses specifically spoken into my life by a man of God. It speaks of the principle of “give and it shall be given;” invest and it shall profit. However we find principles of return as well:

3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.

4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

We must do the best with what we have and trust God in the process to keep moving and investing in faith. Waiting for “the perfect opportunity” will keep us frozen in our spot and we’ll come up empty at harvest time. We cannot expect to perfectly understand the process and God’s timing, but that is not supposed to constrain our faith.

    Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    James 2:18
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” (James 2:18 NLT)

We must not hide our faith but sow and cultivate it that we may reap works of faith. We have a promise of return but our manner of sowing directly effects the return. We are wise to be continual faith-sowers that we might have opportunity to be works reapers at any time. We may not always come upon an opportunity for works in a notable way, but if we always sow faith, we can be ready if harvesting comes.

1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

But his master answered him, You wicked and lazy and idle servant! Did you indeed know that I reap where I have not sowed and gather [grain] where I have not winnowed? (Matthew 25:26 AMP)

Sowing in many places means getting to possibly harvest even where we did not sow. Perhaps a place you didn’t know about, didn’t prepare for, suddenly has a harvest to take it. You never know what you might reap when you sow. Give generously, FAITHfully and watch what God can do.

  29. 9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

    GROW UP!

There is noting wrong with being young. Jesus started his walk herre on earth as a baby. We all must learn what it is to grow.

Paul wrote “when I was a child I thought as a child, but now that I am a man, I think as a man.”

There comes a point where we have to grow-up and take responsibility for our actions. The world has convienced people today that they can be young and do all the “fun” things that they missed out on when they weree kids, because it is cool. Peter Pan, a boy that never wanted to grow up, has led the way for millions of people to refrain from growing up.

As we grow up spiritually, we go from having to be told everything, and being led by the hand, to reading for ourselves and leading others. One day we will give an account of everything from this life, hopefully we grow enough that thos ewho are in authority over us might get to do so with joy, instead of greiviously.

  30. Bread on the Waters

1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

I doubt Solomon is talking about soggy bread here. Sine Ecclesiastes 9:1 he has been reminding his readers that lie is often unpredictable. Now in this chapter, he repeats this theme “you do not [or cannot] know” in vs 2,5,6. There is alot that we don’t know about life, but ignorance alone shouldn’t paralyze us. Part of wisdom is venturing out, taking risks, that’s how anything is ever learned. Is Solomon talking about generosity here in vs1-2 or the business risk of the seafaring trade (1 Ki 9:26-28)? In either case the application is the same. Live life, seize God-given opportunites; don’t wait for perfect assurances about everything, for they will never come. The choice to live fully is its own reward.

Isaiah 2When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze

God wouldn’t declare he would protect us if we were going to walk on water and clouds. He warned us in advance that life wouldn’t be easy, if we were to cast our bread upon the waters we would run the risk of it getting soggy, but standing on God’s promises means we believe in faith that our Provider is going to redeem it for us. Peter may have walked on the water next to Jesus “but when he saw the strongd wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink” in Matt 14:30. Jesus’ response was ““You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
Therefore only when we get distracted and doubt God do we deprive ourselves of witnessing miracles, like eating bread thats been floating on the water.

  31. 5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

Sometimes I’d rather not know or try to. I’ve learned that letting God be God us the best way. He always amazes me.

  32. 10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

At a certain point you have to learn from situations/trials and move on. You learn from your mistakes and grow from then on..

  33. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Proverbs 17:22 KJV)

    Good Clean Fun

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity. (Ecclesiastes 11:9, 10 KJV)

I have heard recently at least two separate testimonies of events “due to the past.” The ones sharing the testimonies attribute it to the past. Several times in the Bible it refers to young people being happy and having fun. This scripture is telllling you the same thing, but it is warning you that actions have consequences. If you go see something you weren’t supposed to see you have opened the door to something in your life. If you go do harmless things like smoking, drinking, drugs… then you have opened other doors in your like. Your actions allow things to happen or not happen. The Bible/God wants you to be happy and have fun, but you still have to watch what you do.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (Proverbs 17:22 KJV)
