Ecclesiastes 12

 1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:

In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,

And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;

Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

  1. 12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

    Reading God’s Word~

This scripture lets me know how this flesh acts out.
~ It doesnt want to obey
~ It doesnt want to listen and read God’s Word
Why let the flesh take over??
    I know that I’m not.
Oh…and it doesnt want to give to the Kingdom of God or anything else.
Follow Jesus is the true vine and the Answer. That’s what God’s Word says and the truth is also speaks out to us too from pastor and sis Watts.
TRUST TRUTH WHEN IT SPEAKS OUT TO US, ME EVERYONE AROUND THE WORLD.
    LOVE Jesus.

ifollow my God and His Name is Jesus.

  2. Flesh doesnt obey.
    Spirit does obey God.
You tell me that there’s a war battle going on!
    God’s Word is true.

  3. Verses 13 & 14
These verses sum up the whole conclusion to man, we should always fear GOD and keep his commandments.
There is a judgement day coming when we will pay what was not covered by the blood.

  4. 9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

I thank God for a wise Pastor who teaches us knowledge and the upright Truth, while the condition of the world around us continues to deteriorate.

    Romans 10:14-15 KJV
    14. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
    15. And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

  5. The Purpose

    Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well. For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.

Breath, energy, strength, vitality, spirit, and life are all given for a purpose. There is only one thing we were put here to do each day we live.

    Moses said
    Deuteronomy 6:5
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

    Jesus said
    Matthew 22:37
    — Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

    David said
    Psalms 18:1-3
    Psalm 18
I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
    The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
    my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised:
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Our duty is to love God with everything. When we love him we will do what he says. We will act like he acts. We will love like he loves.

When we dive in all the way into our eternal purpose he will move heaven, and earth for us. He will part the Red Sea of our lives. He will move the mountains in the way. He will silence the storms.

The preacher said the whole duty of man is to love God, and keep his commandments. When we sow this daily mentality into our lives we will surely reap. When we love he loves even more. When we keep his commandments he gives mercy.

    Psalms 103:17-18
    But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;
To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

When we say we are Christian we simple give ourselves a title. When we love God, and keep his commandments we will be known as his whether we say we are or not.

    1 John 5:3
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments:and his commandments are not grievous.

    John 8:31
    31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

    John 13:35
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

  6. 12:8 vanity of vanities,saith the
    Preacher:all is vanity .
    —–
12:13 let us hear the conclusion of the whole
Matter:fear GOD and keep his commandments : for this is the whole duty of man.
—— LOVE GOD, let GOD BE your JOY, obey his commandments, be a blesser and live every day to the foolest walking in the fear of The Lord, because ALL 0f the rest is vanity of vanities !!!!
    In Jesus name! amen.

  7. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14 NLT)

Fear- to have a reverential awe of

Reverence- Honor or Respect felt or shown

Duty- Conduct due to parents and Superiors. 2. Obligatory tasks, conduct, service, or functions that arise from one’s positions (as in life or in a group).

    3. A moral or legal obligation.

Moral- relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior.

When we truly understand The Lords position in ones life, then understand our position in life. Then all things can and will fall into place. Ordered by The Lord himself.
The real question is…. Where is God placed in your(our) life? Is He placed above your ‘daily routine’? Such as family, friends, work, money, or just simply the cares of the world.
In Proverbs 1:7 the word of The Lord says The fear of The Lord is the beginning of knowledge.
It also says in 1Samuel 15:22 …. Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice….
And all this will be easy to apply to our lives, because we Fear God, and simply Obey. And we can do this because there is a love and an awe for our God, the creator of the heavens and the earth.

  8. LIFE SIMPLIFIED

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

With the understanding that all that we can accomplish or accumulate in this life is mere vanity in sight of GOD who made heaven and earth and all thet are therein. The PREACHER brings LIFE into focus here in the closing chapter of Ecclesiastes.

    MSG
13 The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you.
14 And that’s it. Eventually God will bring everything that we do out into the open and judge it according to its hidden intent, whether it’s good or evil.

FEAR GOD – 3372. yaw-ray´; a primitive root; to fear; morally, to revere; reverence.

COMMANDMENTS – 4687. mits-vaw´; a command, whether human or divine (collectively, the Law):—(which was) commanded(-ment), law, ordinance, precept.

Live each day with an AWE of GOD and a desire to be obedient to HIS COMMANDS whether through HIS WORD or through HIS PROPHET (PREACHER)

In the end works are worthless without obedience. Accomplishments and accumulations are worthless without obedience.

Fear of the LORD is the KEY to OBEDIENCE.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

  9. Verse 13 AMP “All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man.” Obey, praise, worship our Creator; for this is our duty and purpose. All else is smoke!

  10. 3 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

If we live this life to its entirety and get to judgement and have gained much in the temporal things; houses, lands, jobs, promotions, but have not kept the commandments of the Lord and lived out our kingdom purpose, all is vanity. Sometimes it is trick of the enemy of get us caught up in these things and get our focus off what God would have us to do. We must always be sensitive to the Lord to recognize the difference and allow His spirit to judgement whether it be good or evil for us. How it will effect us in the end spiritually is always a question I ask myself.

The words of a song come to mind this morning, “Only one life so soon it will pass, only what’s done for Christ will last. Only one chance to do His will, so live for Jesus all your days, it’s the only life that pays, when you recall, you have just one life.”

  11. vs 9-10 we should be diligent to listen to the words of the pastor as he watches for our soul and God gives him words to say.

  12. YES!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
THANK YOU DADDY!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!
GOD SEES EVERYTHING!!! WE CAN RUN BUT WE CAN’T HIDE!!! EN LA OBEDIENCIA ESTA LA BENDICION!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! LETS BE DOERS OF THE WORD OF GOD AND NOT JUST HEARERS OF THE WORD OF GOD!!! YES!!!
    HALELUJAH!!!

  13. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

    The Sum of All Fears

Although, we know that we are to fear the Lord, many don’t. Many look in fear toward the day of judgement, which we see here and in the New Testiment, in which every man, woman, and child, will have to give an account of every idle word spoken, every deed done in hiding, and for every time that we failed to spread the gosple when we had the chance.

It becomes easy to see where someone places their reverence, or fear. Some trust in false doctorine saying, “Grace covers” so they aren’t worried, or “God know the heart’s motives”. Some even call Jesus a liar, and say that it isn’t necessary to be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins, or to be filled with the Holy Ghost. People who talk this way, often fear, or are scared, for those who taught them this false mess, and/or often are haunted by their past, and yes there are still some who are just plain scared of the unknown (because they don’t really know God they are too scared to accept the reality of truth.)..

As the church we are to reverently fear God, and spread the news that He has left with us… HE’S RISEN!! WE WIN!! HE LOVE US!! If we share what wonderful things Jesus is doing with and for us every day, people will come by the groves to learn more.

If we really fear God, we’ll keep His commands, which include spreading His word..

  14. 11 The words of the wise are like cattle prods—painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep. (NLT)

*Sometimes the truth hurts and we don’t always hear what we want. But despite the pain, I seek those wise words to learn so that my life can be lived by His commandments.

13 That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.
14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. (NLT)

  15. The Lord gives us many opportunities to examine ourselves to make things right if we have gotten off track. We get to choose wether we live wordly or live a godly life, no one can save us, we have to save ourselves. Through careful examination it’s evident that God is there for us, all we need to do is seek and obey him. After all it’s his will and not ours.

I choose to give the Lord access to my heart and soul. I seek you Lord.

  16. What’s in your closet?

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

When I was a child I thought to myself,” I won’t get caught.” THen my mom would say don’t do that. I wondered how did she know what I was about to do? The same with God, he knows our every thought even before we think it. Weither it be good or bad. And we will be judged for it all. So the question stands, What are you hiding in your closet, because God knows where you put it in your closet.

  17. This chapter illustrates purpose. Time is short, yet only realized near the end. One must choose what one will do with one’s time, and also inquire of one’s self, if there is any lasting purpose to one’s choice; “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  18. ILove to eat the word

11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Praise The Lord for a wise shepherd.

  19. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Serve The Lord with gladness, come before him with singing. Rejoice in the God of my salvation.

This verse nicely sums it all up

  20. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

  21. 11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

    Definition of GOAD

1a : something that pains as if by pricking : thorn
b : something that urges or stimulates into action : spur
2: a pointed rod used to urge on an animal

The word that comes across the pulpit can at times prick our hearts or encourages us into the will of God. We are very blessed to have a shepherd who speaks the truth even when it hurts. After it leaves the pulpit, it’s our job to heed it, if we choose not to follow the words of the wise then it shows our own foolishness.

  22. v14 For GOD shall bring every work into judgment , with every secret thing, whether it be good, or weather it be evil.

None of us shall escape the judgment of Christ will stand before JESUS at the final judgment and hear his eternal destiny decided.
We should choose everlasting life through obedience to HIS plan for our redemption.
Lets keep moving forward by faith and obey
    HIS HOLY WORD.

    iPray
    iObey
    iChoose Everlasting Life
    iPraise
    iGive
    Now

  23. Fear and Obey God

Finally Solomon is getting to the answer to the question of where we can find true joy, and reason for living, since meaning cannot be found under the sun. We must look past creation to the God who made it all. Meaning does not come simply by acknowledging God, but from remembering him, fearing and obeying Him (vs14). The Hebrew word for remember is packed with life: it means that we realize every blessing is from Him (Dt 8:17-18), we obey him (Ps 119:55), and we delight in thinking about him (Ps 63:6-7). The time to begin our discipline is in our youth in order to set a foundation for our, and our childrens lives, to shape our souls by referencing all of life back to God (vs1). That way, no matter what the future might bring, we will know that the best choice in life is always to choose to be in near to God. The sad truth that wisdom alone cannot always protect us are cast aside. The New Testament also speaks of an all-encompassing judgment in 2Co 5:10, yet it also proclaims the awesome love of God (Jn 3:16). Its because of Jesus Christ’s love, forgiveness and relationship are at the core of meaning. True obedience flows most freely out of that love, not out of duty.

  24. When Life Falls Apart

     1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

Life is not all rainbows and butterflies, sometimes it gets rough and the sun seems to have forgotten how to shine. But this is where our hope comes. Solomon has spoken at length how so much is vanity, which at first can seem depressing, but at last the silver lining shows through: if the good is vanity, so is the bad. That bad day does not have to keep you down, that bad news does not have to be your end, that dark season does not have to consume you.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

The duty of man supersedes the vanity of life, which means God can give us life and life more abundantly in His way of righteousness *beyond* the vanities of life. We do not have to be subject to the ups and the downs when our hope is in the eternal not the temporal.

When life falls apart, God is still our Rock. Instead of getting hopeless, we can be hopeful.

    Matthew 7:24-25
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

  25. Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth… It is important that we remember our God and what he means to us while we are still young because as young people we tend to believe our smarts or strenths got us to were we are but truely its all about God in our lives.

  26. [Remember your Creator earnestly now] before the silver cord [of life] is snapped apart, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher is broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern [and the whole circulatory system of the blood ceases to function]; Then shall the dust [out of which God made man’s body] return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return to God Who gave it. (Ecclesiastes 12:6, 7 AMP)

Our lives are so short. Make your life count and live for Christ wholeheartedly.

Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen tomorrow. What is the nature of your life? You are [really] but a wisp of vapor (a puff of smoke, a mist) that is visible for a little while and then disappears [into thin air]. (James 4:14 AMP)

  27. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Everything we can and will do the preacher calls it vanity. It is all vanity. God the ultimate righteous judge will judge the ways of men all that was done. In the end the most important is to fear the Lord and keep His commandments. This is the whole duty of man. This is very essence of our existence, why we are here. The begining Of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. You can learn and acquire all the wisdom about all things but what matters the most is to get wise in the ways, commandments, statutes, and precepts of the Lord, and respect, honor, reverence the Lord our God

  28. 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

These 2 verses say it all. When we look back at our life, what does it ssy about us? I pray today for things done wrong so that they d o not go before me & so I can hear “Well done”.

  29. V13

Fear God and keep his commands is the duty of man. We were created for a purpose to keep the commandments of Christ, to worship, and fear him. He is worthy.

  30. The Judge is in the House

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14 KJV)

Don’t just walk around asking, “What is my purpose in life?” It is clearly stated here. Give God reverence and do what he says. Then God will judge you. I wonder if I would pass/fail when THE JUDGE looks into it. I know I have things to improve on. I’m glad I’m not being judged yet.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9 KJV)

  31. All will be revealed

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

You can’t expect to do things in secret and The Lord agree to your foolishness. Everything you do in secret will come out into light. If you have to hide it you shouldn’t be doing it
