Isaiah 13

1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:

And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

  1. 10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

We serve a patient, loving, merciful God. However, when He has had enough, He will turn out the lights and declare it’s over…forever.

Babylon and Sodom and Gomorrah are examples of how God feels about sin. I want to keep my heart and mind clean and live a repented life so that I don’t invoke His wrath towards me!

  2. vs 15 As believers we must be careful not to join ourselves to the world or it could mean our destruction. 2Cor 6:17 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”

  3. 3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

Praise The LORD! I am so thankful that I can hear his commandments. Notice he said I have commanded my sanctified ones, I want to hear and obey the commandments of God take them as precepts to understand my God. How important is trusting in God and his commandments. His commandments are true and we need to accept them. We must understand, we have no power to change God’s rules or commandments. We must realize we just have to obey. Who we are will not change them! Our linage will not matter with God!

God is a just God and He gave Babylon a chance to repent and make things right, but the king only rebelled more against God and brought more tribulation against God”s people. Drank of the vessels of the Temple of God, and went on going the way against God.
Even though God is a God of love He also expects more from his people, repented people. It is time we wake up and understand more about God and what he expects.

    God loves his people.

    Mark 9:42

42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

Does this prove [you don’t mess with the people of God]. Babylon had brought such aggression against God’s people that God said now I will bring my wrath on them.

I always thought [what would cause the heavens to silence?] Maybe it was the change in God.

    Rev 8:1
8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

I think the Angels now saw the God of love turned to anger, What anger could be. If all this love was turned to wrath can you see the change of God. Just a thought.

Whatever I do I do not want to have my God mad at me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. JUDGEMENT DAY…. Is closer than we think!! The question is are you (we) ready?

“Raise a signal flag on a bare hilltop. Call up an army against Babylon. Wave your hand to encourage them as they march into the palaces of the high and mighty. I, the Lord, have dedicated these soldiers for this task. Yes, I have called mighty warriors to express my anger, and they will rejoice when I am exalted.” Hear the noise on the mountains! Listen, as the vast armies march! It is the noise and shouting of many nations. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has called this army together. They come from distant countries, from beyond the farthest horizons. They are the Lord ’s weapons to carry out his anger. With them he will destroy the whole land. (Isaiah 13:2-5 NLT)
Prophesy has and will be fulfilled, whether we’re ready or not. It shall come to pass.
So I (we) must take a step back, LOOK at (my) your life clearly. Is it reflecting a true representation of Christ? Because if you feel that it isn’t (my) your life is in danger!
Stop walking in the flesh, and be lead of His Spirit.
Matthew 5:45 …for He gives His sunlight to both evil and good, and sends rain on the just and unjust alike.
Romans 2:11 God does not show favoritism.
We all will stand before Him one Day.

Apart from a reference to a “Babylonish garment” in Joshua 7:21, there is no Biblical reference to Babylon after Genesis 11 until the great prophecies of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel unfolded God’s plan for the ancient city. Most of the Biblical prophecies relating to Babylon are in relation to the captivity and God’s revelation to Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel concerning the ultimate end of the captivity both for Israel and for Babylon. Most remarkable, however, are the prophecies of Isaiah delivered a century before Babylon had risen to power and recorded at a time when Babylon was still in obscurity with no indication of its coming greatness.

Isaiah prophecied the rise and fall of Babylon before it ever happened. Some of this prophecy is still yet to happen. The wickedness of spiritual Babylon will be destroyed by the coming of The Lord.

  6. Wail! God ’s Day of Judgment is near— an avalanche crashing down from the Strong God! Everyone paralyzed in the panic, hysterical and unstrung, Doubled up in pain like a woman giving birth to a baby. Horrified—everyone they see is like a face out of a nightmare. (Isaiah 13:6-8 MSG)

Just as Tallant said we serve a just and patient God. We can make mistake after mistake over and over again. Yet there comes a day when it’s over. The Lord will be done. And that is the day we all fear. I pray we all be in His Will and continue to work for His kingdom, and continually wrapped in His loving forgiving arms!

  7. 9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible

The day of the Lord it’s coming, oh what a glorious day.. For those who are right before him. God is no respector of persons, he is just and he loves righteousness. This is why we must seek his face, it doesn’t matter how much we do for people, it doesn’t matter if everyone thinks we’ve got it all together. It doesn’t matter what people think of us. God sees our heart’s, he sees everything that is hidden and he will bring it to light and he will bring judgment and justice upon everyone of us. We should fear the Lord and seek his face, we have no idea when he will return, we won’t know when this prophesy will be fulfiled until it happens, or any other for that matter. We must seek the Lord, we must strive to live righteously and be the people we have been called to be, the men and women of God he expects us to be.

  8. THE DARK DAY OF JUDGEMENT

9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

If the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah could speak to our generation, I believe they would be screaming to us REPENT, REPENT, REPENT.

GOD’s LOVE is so DEEP, his GRACE is so WIDE and his MERCY is so LONG that most of us cannot really comprehend HIS judgement. Remember verse 9 says this also is the day of the LORD.

The only fear in life the believer should possess is the FEAR of the LORD, this FEAR should not cause terror, but respect, honor and obedience.

We learn from the Apostle Paul’s writing that there will also be rejoicing when “The Day of the LORD” comes.

2Corinthians 1:14 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Peter also reminds us of the swiftness or unannounced entrance of that day.

2Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

  9. Let your light so shine

10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

The light of the heavens, the light of the stars, the light of the moon, all come from the same light. If God removes the light that means that he has removed the salvation of the people, and everyone is in trouble. Jesus is the light and without the light we cant see the trouble coming. The thief comes in the night because it is hard to catch him when you cant see him. The light reveals problems or trouble. Is this why people run from Jesus ? I think every trouble realizes that the light will expose it. My prayer is that Jesus will shine his light on us to reveal us but in this we will be saved.

  10. In thinking about the judgement of God thst IS coming-we know it will be sudden, swift & without warning. My thoughts turn to the lost and what their end will be and I know that the church must arise and become visible with arms reaching out so people can find the refuge in God that we both have & know. If there’s any comfort in thst great and terrible dsy of judgement it is Rev 14:18: “And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire, and cried out with a loud cry to him with the sickle, saying thrust in thy sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.” God knows when his people are ‘fully ripe’. He also knows who he can save and is working even now to gather these souls in. We are his hands & feet and must get busy for the kingdom. We must be in unity to accomplish everything he desires POFW to do! Be ready & help others to get ready.

  11. KJV says:
Vs.9, “Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.”
Vs.11, “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.”

    MSG version says:
Vs.9, “Watch now. God’s Judgment Day comes. Cruel it is, a day of wrath and anger. A day to waste the earth and clean out all the sinners.”
Vs.11, “I’ll put a stop to the evil on the earth, terminate the dark acts of the wicked. I’ll gag all braggers and boasters – not a peep from them – and trip strutting tyrants, leave them flat on their faces. Proud humanity will disappear from the earth.”

Also, I read in 2 Timothy this morning, and 2 Timothy 3:1-4 says, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.”

We are diffently living in the last days, and one day soon, God’s judgment is coming upon the earth.

  12. The harvest of sin is deadly. However GOD offers a way of escape from the dilemma of sin . This remedy is the plan of salvation .
GOD LOVES the sinner HIS intolerance of sin forces a person to choose between sin and salvation between heaven or hell .
GOD is still working through the church today and HE uses it as the evangelistic vehicle to spread the gospel.

We can’t go wrong lifting JESUS UP.!!
HE CAN get a hold of our loved ones, our children , through the Power of the Holy Ghost.
An invisible Power and draw them into the Kindom of GOD right where they’re at.
We have a promise in Psalm 16:10
For thou wilt not leave my soul on hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption ,

    John 12:31-32
Now is the judgment of this world now shall the prince of this world be cast out

” O BUT WHAT BLESSED HOPE””

Babylon will never be inhabited again it will remain empty for generation after generation…..

No people will never live there again.
Thank you Jesus..I love where you have us,me away from the sin that We all have been through. But now we,I live and try to keep living in the light. Thank you Jesus! I praise your holy NAME!

  14. This chapter illustrates warning. Isaiah prophesied and warned what was to come. One need only to open one’s eyes to see the comparison of today, as such one should know the time is near; “We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  15. The time of Salvation is NOW.

Judgement day is to come and still you hear “I’m not ready may be tomorrow”. I get frustrated not because they rejected me but because they rejected Him. They don’t seem to take eternity seriously.

Please do not leave your Salvation for another day, Today is the day of Salvation, Now is the time. For your days will not be prolonged.

22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

  16. This chapter shows how our God dislikes sin. How do you think God feels when we have served him and then turn our backs on him? That is telling God we don’t need him we can make it on our own. We not only are foolish for doing that but we have took ourselves out from under the covering we were in. God help us the day we (I) think we can do it on our own and don’t need God or the church. I pray God create in me a clean heart renew in me the right spirit. I need POFW and a pastor and pastors wife that is there when needed and tells me when I am going wrong.

  17. Verse 10 CEV:
    “Light will disappear
    from the stars in the sky;
the dawning sun will turn dark,
    and the moon
    will lose its glow.”

In this chapter we read about the darkness of the Day of Judgment. This reminds me that we (POFW) need to be unified “NOW” in order to make a difference before that day comes. We can use every resource in our lives possible to shine our light of Jesus to a darkening world.

  18. 19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

No one will escape judgement, no matter who or what you are here on earth. It only matters if you lived according to God’s rules. All that is evil and sinful will soon experience God’s wrath and the only people to be spared will be God’s people who lived according to his word.

  19. The Lord says, “I will punish the world for its evil and wicked people for their sins. I will cause proud people to lose their pride, and I will destroy the pride of those who are cruel to others. (Isaiah 13:11 NCV)

This world and those that belong to this world will be destroyed.

And that same word of God is keeping heaven and earth that we now have in order to be destroyed by fire. They are being kept for the Judgment Day and the destruction of all who are against God. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The skies will disappear with a loud noise. Everything in them will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be exposed. (2 Peter 3:7, 10 NCV)

They don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to the world. Make them ready for your service through your truth; your teaching is truth. For their sake, I am making myself ready to serve so that they can be ready for their service of the truth. (John 17:16, 17, 19 NCV)

Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect. (Romans 12:2 NCV)

  20. 1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

6 Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:

The burdon of Fort Worth, lets shout to God and raise the banner of praise for Jehovah nissi. We are equipped for the mission to reach the loss. They cry out to God and are from all walks of life. Lets shout with victory. God will take over. V7. We will be slain in the Holy Ghost and the lost will too.

  21. Wow…don’t like it when Dad’s angry. The fear of the Lord is truly the beginning of wisdom. I hope to be wise and remain that way.

    “Be blessed”………..

  22. The hope before the judgment

10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Acts 2:17“ ‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
    and they will prophesy.
19I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20The sun will be turned to darkness
    and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
    21And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Before God closes the curtain on humanity, and judges them for sin he shines a ray of hope. Judgment is coming, but we have an escape route. God is pouring out his spirit first!

Today is the day of salvation! We can call on the Lord today, and receive forgiveness, mercy, and empowerment!

    For how long? Until

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 AND THEN shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

  23. It was crazy tho I read this chapter on Wednesday I just picked up my bible and opened it and it opens to Isaiah 13 and I read it about Babylon so I decided to do the blog tonight and it was the same chapter… Pretty cool!
Thank God I don’t live in Babylon!!!

  24. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

God will reward men for the evil they do.

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. -Psalms 37:1
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. -Psalms 37:2

  25. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

God’s return is very near. Let us make ourselves ready for the groom.

  26. 3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

    Called

Each one of us have been called for a purpose. God chose us to do His work.

The word tells us that God knew us even before the world began. He knew our every flaw, before He decided to lay His life down for us. When I was unloveable, God loved me, and chose me. It is up to me, just as it is for each and every one of us, to choose to walk in His ways, obeying His commands, that we might see salvation.

Through our obedience and our submission, we are able to become mighty in Him. (For the weapons of our warfare are not karnal, but mighty, through Him).

I must answer Hi call. I must submit, and become mighty…

  27. Rare

12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

I will make a man more rare than fine gold, even a man than the pure gold of Ophir. (Isaiah 13:12 ASV)

In a day and age when carnality reigns, true men (and women) of God are rare. God calls us to maturity, to perfection or completion in Him. If He calls us to change, we can trust it’s for our good:

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (1 Peter 1:6, 7 NLT)

More precious than gold is our mature faith and walk with Him. Our maturing into the fullness of what God intends brings Him glory and is truly rare:

Rare (adj.) – …2 a : marked by unusual quality, merit, or appeal : distinctive; b :superlative or extreme of its kind; 3 :seldom occurring or found : uncommon

    Ephesians 4:13-15
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ

    1 Peter 2:9 KJV
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9 AMP)

We are called to be a rare people, God’s chosen treasure! Let’s submit to His process of perfection and let Him take over so we can truly be rare.

  28. 3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

This chapter explains the wrath of God and His judgement. When He says enough..it is enough. Lights out lets tear it down and clean it up. With all this in the 4 verses above I have to make a connection to “Shout”
It is just in my head and can’t get it out… How powerful can thus be? In verse 3 NKJV says “I have commanded my sanctified ones; I have also called my mighty ones for my anger- Those who rejoice in my exaltation.”. It is a shout of praise!! A mighty powerful, shout of praise. A shout that tears down walls like the ones in Jericoh, a shout that brings judgment, a shout of war, a shout of victory… I am reminded that our weapons are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds… God and the angels are witness of what happens when we shout unto God… I can only but wonder what happens in the spiritual real but I have a great idea that it’s powerful….
Shout unto GOD for the victory!!!!

  29. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

  30. 9 Behold , the day of the Lord cometh , Cruel both with wrath and fierce anger , to lay the land desolate : And he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it . 10 FRor the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light : The sun shall be darkened in his going forth , And the moon shall not cause her light to shine .

  31. Day of the Lord

The first 12 chapters of Isaiah speal of God’s judgment against the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel. Here in chapter 13 Isaiah begins his prophetic message against pagan nations, particularily Babylon. The day of the Lord is a “cruel day” (vs9) when God finally punishes the wicked. This prophecy is fulfilled when Medo-Persian forces conquer Babylon. This prophecy is for there near and our future, for there is a day of the Lord yet to come. It will be time for both judgment and restoration. The enemies of the Lord will recieve eternal condemnation when Jesus Christ returns and fulfills God’s purpose. The friends of God- those who have recieved His Spirit- will recieve God’s eternal reward. A day of rapture- estatic joy! Hallelujah!

  32. The Lord is angry at all evil and the wicked. The day is coming when he will judge fairly. I don’t want the Lord to be angry. Lord strengthen me and lead me toward the right directions.

  33. V2 left up the banner!!!
2 Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
Must stay on the hills and say this is what I believe don’t be scared but stand

  34. Death in judgement

I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the Lord Almighty, in the day of his burning anger. (Isaiah 13:11, 13 NIV)

Stop! Are you ready? Will you know how to respond when He asks you why? Will your excuses be enough to cover the truth?
…. Your death is in the judgement

If your actions are not leading you to the cross then what are you leading yourself too?

…. Your death is in the judgement
