Isaiah 17

1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lordof hosts.

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.

Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the Lord God of Israel.

At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

  1. Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweed before a gale.

    New Living Translation (©2007)
But though they thunder like breakers on a beach, God will silence them, and they will run away. They will flee like chaff scattered by the wind, like a tumbleweed whirling before a storm.

The world will come and say you this and this and you shouldn’t do that come with us and they will hit you But God will put a stop to them

  2. This sounds like where the United States is heading if we do no turn from our wicked ways and humble ourselves before God. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

  3. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

When we focus on Him, we realize that the things we have made and the things of this world aren’t worth looking at.

    Psalm 97:6-7 KJV
    6. The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
    7. Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

  4. 8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.

10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

The most horrible thought that I can think of is when we do not look to the altars! If we ever leave prayer out of our daily lives we are in trouble. The lives of people will not be blessed our finances will not look good. The prophet said they were left desolate.

I pray to God we never loose PRAYER. This is why we pray 30 minutes before each service and have a prayer meeting offered twice each week for us at the church. It is because prayer is so important to us and our walk with God!

  5. the gods of this world

7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

From the moment man invented the wheel they have not stop making things. I had the opportunity to go to “The Indian Cave” in Puerto Rico on its walls are rare and ancient drawings; drawings of what they care most. Man has always kept track of their achievements some how. “I did this”, “I won that” the statements, their trophies on the mantle, little by little the things of this world and his achievements become their idols. The ipad, iphone, etc… I have seen people that if they forgot it will go to high heavens to get it back because they just can be with out it. Beware of what you are making your idol. What is the first thing you think of doing as soon as you awake? That is your idol.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

He loves to be your First, the only One, the Great I AM. At the end everyone shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. Blessed are the ones that do it voluntarily from the start.

  6. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
JESUS!!! I THANK YOU DADDY!!! YOU ARE MY MAKER, THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! JESUS!!! DIOS BENDIGA A ISRAEL!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  7. Learning the hard way

6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the Lord God of Israel.

7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

It too and that some if us have to learn the hard way. In this example they didn’t look to God until there was a problem. Too many times we wait until there is a problem or we need something, then we call on God. Why if we have to learn the hard way? If we would keep in his graces by exulting him and keeping our eyes on him all the time he would turn us away from most of our trouble. I get it that God lets us go through some things to teach us, but he also we keep us from some things if we could just keep him in first place.

Keep your eyes in Jesus through the storm and you will not sink.

    To forget Salvation…

Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation , and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength , therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants , and shalt set it with strange slips. The day you begin cultivating, you do what you can to make it grow; the morning you begin planting, you do what you can to make it sprout. Yet the harvest will disappear in the day of disease and incurable pain.

    “Forgotten” in the Hebrew is:

    שָׁכַח shakach
    Verb shaw-kakh’
    a primitive root
or shakeach {shaw-kay’-akh}; a primitive root; to mislay, i.e. to be oblivious of, from want of memory or attention:–X at all, (cause to) forget.
    to forget, ignore, wither
    (Qal)
    to forget
    to cease to care
    (Niphal) to be forgotten
    (Piel) to cause to forget
(Hiphil) to make or cause to forget
    (Hithpael) to be forgotten.

The word forgotten is powerful here because it doesn’t just mean that the God of our salvation slipped out of our memory, but it can mean that we “refused to pay attention,” or we just didn’t care enough hold onto what God gave us. Maybe we ignored God.

The best litmus test we have to evaluate if we have forgotten The Lord is to think about the last advise that our pastor gave us. Did we accept it or reject it?

Let us all remember The Lord! If we ignore the counsel of God we will not prosper and we will not thrive.

  9. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

The times had to get hard for Israel to turn to their Maker -for them to stop trusting in the arm of the flesh and trust God. Everything they knew to do to provide their own food would not yield fruit until they turned back to serve the Lord. I pray America turns back to God because we already see her taking a hard hit financially.
2 Chron. 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and firgive their sin and heal their land. NKJV

  10. 7 Then at last the people will look to their Creator and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel. They will no longer look to their idols for help or worship what their own hands have made. They will never again bow down to their Asherah poles or worship at the pagan shrines they have built. Their largest cities will be like a deserted forest, like the land the Hivites and Amorites abandoned when the Israelites came here so long ago.
It will be utterly desolate. Why? Because you have turned from the God who can save you.You have forgotten the Rock who can hide you.
So you may plant the finest grapevines and import the most expensive seedlings. They may sprout on the day you set them out; yes, they may blossom on the very morning you plant them, but you will never pick any grapes from them. Your only harvest will be a load of grief and unrelieved pain. ( Isaiah 17: 7-11 NLT)

In Galatians 6:7 it states ” Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” While it might seem that the world is living a more fulling life, they are just reap what they are sowing. They sow into the world and they are rewarded in the world. As children of God we are commanded to so into the kingdom and that is were we will reap—IN HIS KINGDOM.

So don’t grow weary or jealous of those who live worldly lifestyle–for ” no man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24)

  11. The tale of more desolate cities are found in this chapter. The key for their desolation is found in vs 4 – And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

We just learned on Sunday about the “fatness” of the spirit. Eat the bread “word of God” and drink the water “spirit” on a daily basis and we will be come spiritually fat and break the yokes off our lives. The desolation of these cities was a result of them forgetting their God and turning away from the path of a Godly, committed life. We also must be care when we begin to let our commitments we have made to the Lord slip and fall by the way side. We committed faithfulness to His house, faithfulness to prayer, faithfulness to the giving, faithfulness to fasting, faithfulness to studying His word, faithfulness in our ministry opportunities, all these things help make us who we are in the Kingdom of God. When we begin to allow them to slip, we are on the road to becoming a desolate vessel in His Kingdom.

  12. WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG

10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

There are and have been times in every believers life that multiple things and seemingly “everything” goes wrong, or turns out bad. Most people will turn to the most popular game in the world that has “NO RULES” called “THE BLAME GAME”. It is an unending search for the culprit, the source of this trouble. Truth is that the culprit is usually right before our eyes when looking in the mirror.

Oh you may not always do wrong, but what is your response? Is it Biblical, is it mature, is it merciful, is it gracious or was it rooted in pride with selfish motives. You may even try to overcome the problem by giving, going and doing and still come up empty.

The QUESTION we MUST learn to ask first is, “LORD what are you showing or telling me in this situation”. Do NOT forget GOD, it is very costly.

    MSG
    You Have Forgotten God

10-11 And why? Because you have forgotten God-Your-Salvation,
    not remembered your Rock-of-Refuge.
And so, even though you are very religious,
planting all sorts of bushes and herbs and trees
to honor and influence your fertility gods,
And even though you make them grow so well,
bursting with buds and sprouts and blossoms,
Nothing will come of them. Instead of a harvest
you’ll get nothing but grief and pain, pain, pain.

  13. Listen! The armies of many nations roar like the roaring of the sea. Hear the thunder of the mighty forces as they rush forward like thundering waves. But though they thunder like breakers on a beach, God will silence them, and they will run away. They will flee like chaff scattered by the wind, like a tumbleweed whirling before a storm. In the evening Israel waits in terror, but by dawn its enemies are dead. This is the just reward of those who plunder us, a fitting end for those who destroy us. (Isaiah 17:12-14 NLT)

When all you can hear is the enemy…Pray!

The scripture clearly states God will silence them! You do not have to listen to that foolishness.

Let God be your refuge, give all to Him.

    Let Go and Let God

  14. Keep the foundation

    Isaiah 17:10
Why? Because you have turned from the God who can save you.
You have forgotten the Rock who can hide you.
So you may plant the finest grapevines
and import the most expensive seedlings.

    Revelation 2:4
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

The church is full of opportunity to keep us busy, and serving. Outreach, music, teaching, and maintenance are all wonderful necessary things we can do. Our personal lives should be filled with lifestyle evangelism, and our minds ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us.

Yet if we are not careful all of these beautiful things we do can become unprofitable.
    1 Corinthians 13:1-3
    Chapter 13
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Yes we need to demonstrate love to everyone, but the love people to truly need is the love of God. Our relationships with the master should spawn his love within our hearts to humanity.

Our time alone with God should be the catalyst to witness miracles, and see harvest. Our ministry, and ministering should be a byproduct of our devotion, and not a stand alone.

The Lord cries out to not leave the rock to pursue the things of this world. Above all, Jesus wants relationship!

This is the core foundation to our lives in Christ. When we remove this everything else will crumble.

  15. Another scripture of judgement, and great sorrows. Imagine what sorrows are ahead for those who in this world today without Christ.

    Hope you tell someone!

  16. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

This goes great with the teaching on fatness/anointing from sunday morning. When you stop eating, begin to lose weight the fat goes first. Your body will try and sustain itself on old stored up anointing. The thing is in a matter of days you have consumed your fat. Your muscles then become weak. You don’t have the same strength and drive. You don’t want to do things. You may start skipping one thing like outreach, or another, prayer meetings, that could escalate to missing services….then things start to go wrong. You’re not as blessed as you used to be. Problems start to arise and we’re questioning trying to figure out what’s going on? This is God’s way of saying we need to repent..if not this can grow to be like on verse 10 and on. It’s time to eat the word, but remember at every meal there is also a drink. The Word and Prayer every day

  17. 10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

Let’s not forget where God brought us from, we can’t get so caught up in the “routine” that life is now that we forget that when we sing and dance it’s all four the Creator of the universe, the KING of kings and LORD of lords. Let’s be mindful that God isalways there and had always been there to pick us up when we fall. We can do nothing but fail without him and it’s a sad day when we realize that we’ve gotten so caught up in the “norm” that we forget all that HE has done for us.

  18. Then at last the people will look to their Creator and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel. They will no longer look to their idols for help or worship what their own hands have made. They will never again bow down to their Asherah poles or worship at the pagan shrines they have built. (Isaiah 17:7, 8 NLT)

He is the King of kings and Lord of lords!!! None can compare to the Wonderful, Counseller, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace- Jesus !!

The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. O Israel, praise the Lord ! O priests—descendants of Aaron—praise the Lord ! O Levites, praise the Lord ! All you who fear the Lord, praise the Lord ! The Lord be praised from Zion, for he lives here in Jerusalem. Praise the Lord ! (Psalms 135:15-21 NLT)

  19. Opportunity

    Ecclesiastes 9:11
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

We all face opportunities every day. Sadly, many miss opportunity until it is framed by the rear-view mirror. Trying to pursue a missed opportunity has the two-fold pain of not only defeated efforts concerning our goal but preemptive rejection of new opportunities. When we remain occupied with the past, we blind ourselves to the present and cut off out vision of the future.

When we harvest grief and desperate sorrow concerning missed opportunity, we must examine if we are trying to sow into the past or into our future. God deals with our future, but the enemy specializes with the past. Sowing into death will reap death, sowing into life will reap life; we must leave the past behind and walk with God if we want the future God has for us.

Opportunity knocks, our time is NOW, we cannot afford to turn our focus from God and what He is doing!

    Ephesians 5:15-17
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

  20. This chapter illustrates opportunity. They had an opportunity to do what was right, however they forgot God. One has an opportunity to do what one will, one would be wise not to forget the God of thy salvation, and be mindful of the rock of thy strength. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  21. Do not forget where God has brought you from; yes He may have delivered you, and thank you Jesus! Because we are nothing without Him; but do not forget, because your deliverance is your testimony that may just help encourage someone else.

  22. And behold at eveningtide † trouble ; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
    NET
In the evening there is sudden terror; by morning they vanish. This is the fate of those who try to plunder us, the destiny of those who try to loot us!

    Predestined doom for my enemy.

Our enemies don’t stand a chance
The wicked plotteth against the just , and gnasheth upon him with his teeth .
    NET
Evil men plot against the godly and viciously attack them.

The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming .
    NET
The Lord laughs in disgust at them, for he knows that their day is coming.

Have you ever had someone attack you that you knew didn’t stand a chance? I have. That is how God views the attacks from our enemies. They are futile. If you are going through a trial and your emotions are in utter chaos. Be still and see the salvation of the LORD. Wait on God. He will show up show off and show out. Learn the lesson to be leaned. The faster you learn the shorter the lesson.

The enemies assault comes at night and its full of terror. But by morning it’s it is no more.

Psalm 30:5. weeping may endure for a night , but joy cometh in the morning.

  23. Vs.10, “Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips.”

How do we forget God or become mindless to him? Lack of pray and Bible reading. When life is good and going great, some people have a tendancy to leave God out of the picture and do it on their own. When life gets tough, people have a tendancy to focus on the problem more than the problem solver. (God). Either way, people have a tendancy to forget to pray or read their Bible, therefore forgetting God and becoming mindless to him.

We need to start everyday out with Prayer and Bible Reading. This will get our hearts and minds fixed on him. That way if our day is going great, we can Thank Him, or if we have a problem, we can call on him, and he will be our answer.

I don’t ever want to forget the God of my salvation for He is the rock of my strength. Thank You Jesus !

  24. 7 In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will look on the Holy One of Israel. ESV

There is coming a day when the backsliders are going to look to God for help. They think they have it all planned out and can fix what ever comes their way and as long as things are going good they don’t need church or God (so they think) but God is so gracious that when the backslider calls on his name he will hear them. I’m so thankful that I have a loving and forgiving God.

  25. The study notes of my bible says this of verses 7-8: Since their idols could not deliver them, the people of Northern Israel will be prompted to turn back to God. Often, it is only after some disaster that we realize how far we have drifted from God. It also states the following of foreign seedlings in verses 10-11: This may refer to a fertility ritual where a plant was forced to grow and flower quickly. As this plant dies, so do our attempts to force our own prosperity.

  26. Why? Because you have turned from the God who can save you. You have forgotten the Rock who can hide you. So you may plant the finest grapevines and import the most expensive seedlings. They may sprout on the day you set them out; yes, they may blossom on the very morning you plant them, but you will never pick any grapes from them. Your only harvest will be a load of grief and unrelieved pain. (Isaiah 17:10, 11 NLT)

This is living life w/o GOD!!

People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished. We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. (Proverbs 16:2, 5, 9 NLT)
Always seek The Lord before you do anything.

  27. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; -Philippians 2:10

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. -Philippians 2:11

There’s coming a day real soon when everyone is going to look upon him the one who saved us by his grace. To many it will be a great day to others it will not.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. -Zechariah 12:10

In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. -Zechariah 12:11

  28. 4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.

    Submission

Without submission we loose our fatness. We must stay submitted. We must stay fat.

  29. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.

    Amen!

  30. Spoiler Alert!

Usually when someone says spoiler alert they are talking about someone that can’t keep their mouth closed. They spoil a surprise, book, show, or event (I was a spoiler when I told someone the Titanic sank, who knew they wouldn’t know?). In this case there is a different kind of spoiler talked about. It is the kind that ruin and steal from you.

And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us. (Isaiah 17:14 KJV)

Did you see that? Spoilers even have a reward with God! They get something. It might not be what you want, but they actually get something. If you look closer you will see what they get:

It says that God will rebuke them and they will flee. See verses 12 and 13.

  31. The blessing of the first years.

6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the Lord God of Israel.

Think about this. when a tree is growing the first fruit is easy to pick because it is at the bottom. Now when the tree begins to grow the fruit begins to get harder and harder to pick because it gets higher and higher. Now being in ministry is being a servant, and a servant is at the bottom to carry that which is on top, or the new fruit. Therefore the lower you are to thr roots the heavier the load is , but that just means that God has made you to be a leader in which he can put a load on. So be glad when you have a heavy load, because God will not put on you more than you can bear. Be not weary in well doing , for in DUE Season we Shall Reap if we faint not.

  32. God said have no idols before me. I am a jealous God. Follow my commandments and honor me said the Lord. Don’t forget me.

The Lord will test and punish us because he loves us. Lord only you are in control, take over all wicked that stands in the way of doing your will. Lead me Now!

  33. Do you Remember?

7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

Man may forget us such as Joseph was sold off and forgotten by his brothers, the cupbearer forgot about him after being set free from prison (Gen 40:23), but Acts 7:9-10 says God was always with him, prospering him. When men’s souls lose focus off their maker, God is always waiting and watching, for their repentant turn back to Him. In many Scriptures it says “God Remembered” ..Did he ever forget us? Or was it us that forgot about Him, then once we turned back to Him, that He took over?

Gen 8:1 “God remembered Noah” It was God’s time to act in receeding the waters so that his remnant may survive.

Nu 10:9 “When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the LORD your God and rescued from your enemies.” He defends his people in battle.

Ex 2:24 He heard the Israelites groaning, and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, not that he ever forgot, but that it His time to take control, “God looked on the children of Israel, and God had respect for them” after 400 years of silence, it was NOW time.

Gen 30:22 “God remembered Rachel, he listened and enabled her to concieve” not that he didn’t hear her the times before, but because of her manipulation and bickering, that bitter water aborts her miracle every time. It was finally her time.

He shows us here like other places that he also remembers our sins, that is until we repent of them. Truth is the further we venture into the darkness of sin the harder it is for God to get our attention with out devestating consequences. He disciplines us because he loves us, and wants to kill the sin in us, and if we can’t purge it, eventually he will purge us. He plans on punishing those who lure us away to sin “stumbling stones” and for any harsh treatment they may have inflicted on us in the process (Rev 16:9).

God never forgot us, man forgot God its usually after a miraculous defeat, not long after the Exodus out of Egypt were they soon complaining, ready to go back to Egypt. After Gideon’s death and the miraculous defeat of their enemy armies did they forget God. In Eze 16:43 ;21:24 “Because Israel forgot God they were to be captured”. Pride comes right before the fall of forgetting God, most backsliding happens just after miraculous victories. We must be careful not to forget God in everyday living (1Cor 6:12). So how do we keep from forgetting God, being the remnant that stays on the branch of his vine? Read 6:4-12 keep Him with you everywhere you go, in everything you do. Walk in Holiness. Do you remember God? Does God remember you?

  34. Covered

Water is supposed to be the most powerful force in nature. It’s a source that brings life to everything and yet it is deceiving to the naked eye on how powerful it really is. Currents sweep away people to their deaths, Tsunamis destroy entires cities, and yet the rain feeds the plants, cleans the air… God uses multiple references throughout His word about water and yet back in the story of Moses He parted the waters…when you feel that everything is rushing against you just remember your God is bigger. He knows all, sees all, determines all. When it comes down to the wire and there is no light at the end of the tunnel, God will rebuke the devourer.

    We are covered!
Thank you Lord for your protection
