Isaiah 27

1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine.

I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?

In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind.

By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.

10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.

12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.

13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

  1. Are you ready for the trumpet of Zion to blow? On that day He will divide the thorny branches and cast them to the fire. He alone will judge us by our fruit, what kind of fruit are you producing?

  2. 3 I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

God will always protect His church. He gave His life for it, so He isn’t about to let any harm come to it. No one can take it out of His hand of protection by force and His hand never gets tired.

    Deuteronomy 32:39 KJV
    39. See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

    Psalm 121:4 KJV
    4. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

  3. 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

The scripture said take hold of my strength! Then man can make peace with him. I am so glad God made a way that we could make peace with him!
Once we take hold of the strength of God we can overcome anything.

  4. Verses 2-5 MSG:
“At that same time, a fine vineyard will appear.
    There’s something to sing about!
    I, God, tend it.
    I keep it well-watered.
I keep careful watch over it
so that no one can damage it.
    I’m not angry. I care.
Even if it gives me thistles and thornbushes,
    I’ll just pull them out
    and burn them up.
Let that vine cling to me for safety,
let it find a good and whole life with me,
let it hold on for a good and whole life.”:

This is our time to cling to him, take hold, turn to him and become a friend of our All Mighty Protector.

  5. THERE IS POWER IN HOLDING ON

5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

Any attitude or action of disobedience places us at odds with JESUS. It is HIS will and desire that we TRUST HIM enough to COMPLETELY obey HIM. Any variance from this total commitment and obedience disturbs the peace of GOD; which is the POWER to crush satan.

There are 2 major deceptions in life that bring division and friction between GOD and man. Both are sin and separate man from GOD.

    1. Pride – When man releases GOD and takes hold of his own strength, ability or influence.

    2. Rebellion – When man release GOD and takes hold of the strength of the world, it’s system or it’s daddy the lying, deceitful devil.

    MSG
    5. Let that vine cling to me for safety,
let it find a good and whole life with me,
let it hold on for a good and whole life.”

    NLT
    I will burn them up—
5 unless they turn to me for help.
    Let them make peace with me;
yes, let them make peace with me.”

    AMP
5 Or else [if all Israel would escape being burned up together there is but one alternative], let them take hold of My strength and make complete surrender to My protection, that they may make peace with Me! Yes, let them make peace with Me!

THERE IS POWER IN HOLDING ON

Trust in the LORD and the POWER of HIS might!

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

    OBEY and LIVE

    REBEL and DIE

    It is this SIMPLE!

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

    NOW

  6. Yet the time will come when the Lord will gather them together like handpicked grain. One by one he will gather them—from the Euphrates River in the east to the Brook of Egypt in the west. (Isaiah 27:12 NLT)

    Hand picked by GOD!!!!

The Lord knows who belongs to Him. The question is do you know if you belong to him.
And if you’re not sure, there must be some self examination. What’s in your heart? What are the intentions of your thoughts? What are your emotions feeling towards others? What are your words speaking? It is said that actions speak louder than words. Are they Godly?what type of fruit are you? What is your fruit saying about yourself? Does it stink? Is it rotten that you’re no good and it needs to be thrown out?
It’s something to think about. Can this be said of you…. That you are His.

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.
God loves you! And it’s time to make things right! It’s time to repent. It’s time to Obey. It’s time to Live right, do right, think right, and speak right. In Jesus name!

  7. 9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.

    daily sacrifices

Paul said I die daily. He was able to understand the necessity of building an alter for Christ.

We are able to learn of the fruits if the spirit, As we read through the NT, (love, joy, peace, patience, longsuffering). The only way we are able to rid sin from our lives is to grow the spirits.

I once heard a preacher explain it as this, “When you have weeds in your yard, the best way to get rid of them is to fertilize your yard, and focus on growing the grass, and let the grass kill out the weeds. If you focus on tearing out or poisioning out all the weeds, you will kill and uproot your grass too.”

As we seek Him, we will willingly, remove all our images and groves, so that we might be able to get closer to Him.

  8. 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

Peace is such a vital aspect of a faith based relationship with God. We won’t understand everything because we don’t know everything, and as mere humans we are incapable of understand EVERYTHING. But we serve a God who KNOWS ALL and we can find peace in the fact the he will never leave or forsake us.

4:7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 9 And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you. (Phil 4:7,9 NET)

  9. 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

We can’t fight the battles that satan hurls against us & be victorious without God. But if we take hold of his hand and allow him to fill us with his spirit, we then have the power of God for every situation. The battle is his and he’s already won! In our weakness he’s made strong and we just have to hold on!

  10. 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.
God is my strength and refuge he is the I turn to in trouble times. If God be for us who can be against us.

  11. 3 I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

The Lord will keep what is his, this is why we must be baptized in his name and covered with his blood

  12. I, the Lord, will watch over it, watering it carefully. Day and night I will watch so no one can harm it. My anger will be gone. If I find briers and thorns growing, I will attack them; I will burn them up— unless they turn to me for help. Let them make peace with me; yes, let them make peace with me.” (Isaiah 27:3-5 NLT)

Search me oh Lord, look inside of me and have Your way. Watch over me and fix anything that is not of You. Thank You Lord for all that You have done and all that You will do.

  13. 6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

Why do we get jealous when someone has something better than us? Do we think that we deserve it, or is it just because we can feel today way? Why is the world jealous of Israel? Because it is a blessed nation. And when you are blessed it brings out the haters. Don’t be drinking the hateraid just because someone is blessed. You are blessed with life and health. Be happy.

  14. This chapter illustrates strength. The Lord of all (Jesus) will slay; “In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.” God has the strength to slay all things, if one but call upon his name (Jesus). What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  15. 2-5 “At that same time, a fine vineyard will appear.
    There’s something to sing about!
    I, God, tend it.
    I keep it well-watered.
I keep careful watch over it
so that no one can damage it.
    I’m not angry. I care.
Even if it gives me thistles and thornbushes,
    I’ll just pull them out
    and burn them up.
Let that vine cling to me for safety,
let it find a good and whole life with me,
let it hold on for a good and whole life.”

This is my time, our time to cling to him. I want to find that good life with him, to be safe in his arms.
I am a friend of God and he calls me friend!

  16. 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.
    Thank you Jesus!
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
There will be a day, God is coming back for his bride!

  17. 10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

The “defenced city” represents arrogant human evil. You may think you have something (from God), but he will not hesitate to withdraw it from you if you get cocky and/or proud about it. That’s why we must stay humble.

1 Samuel 2:3 English Standard Version
Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

    Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

  18. 3 I, the Lord, will protect it and always keep it watered. I will guard it day and night to keep it from harm.
4 I am no longer angry. But if it produces thorns, I will go to war against it and burn it to the ground.
5 Yet if the vineyard depends on me for protection, it will become my friend and be at peace with me. (CEV)

Depend on God! In a time of trouble we have to remember to turn to God, turning to man or anything else will only lead us astray. I want to be Your friend God; know me, guard me, and keep me Lord, I desire peace with You.

  19. Verse 2-5 (Message)
Let that vine cling to me for safety,
let it find a good and whole life with me,
let it hold on for a good and whole life.”

What a mighty God we serve! He protects us and guards us day and night. Even when we produce bad fruits we can find peace and safety if we just “take hold of [His] strength.” Thank you Jesus!

  20. While reading this chapter the song ‘Thats who you are’ came to mind.
‘In my weakness you are strong and in my failures I still belong. Only you can see me for who I really am yet you love me oh how you love me.’
So thankful for Gods love and protection over my life. In the midst of my storm He deserves my praise in the good, bad, and ugly! Through Him I am victorious!

  21. therefore by his iniquity of Jacob will be covered: and this is all the fruit to taking away his sin:When He makes all the stones of the altar like chalkstones that are beaten to dust, wooden images and incense altars shall not stand. This reminds me The Holy Ghost the God that answer with fire. super thankful and happy for my niece in Mexico that received THE HOLY GHOST in Mexico i was worry for her and I wanted that She came to received the Gift. But my God is Sovereign and he reigns everyehere. Praise The Lord! Aleluya!

  22. Vs.9, “By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.” (KJV)

Vs.9, “But the good news is that through this experience Jacob’s guilt was taken away. The evidence that his sin is removed will be this; He will tear down the alien altars, take them apart stone by stone, And the crush the stones into gravel and clean out all the sex-and-religion shrines.” (MSG)

This scripture made me think of sin in our lives. The only way we can be truely forgiven is to get the World out of our lives. We need to crush it, destroy it, and get rid of it. Anything of the World that is standing up in our lives, we need to knock it over and stomp it to the ground.

Is.27:13a says, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown…”
1 Thess. 4:16 says, “And the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”

One day, Jesus is going to blown the trumpet. Are you ready? Has sin been crushed in your life and gotten rid of?

  23. He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. -Isaiah 27:6 NET

The Lord will establish us an cause us to take root and grow in this city. POFW will bloom and fill this city with Gospel of Jesus Christ.

    Grow where you are planted!

  24. ILove to eat the Word

1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

It will be a peacful day when the devil gets punished.

  25. 3 I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

I’m thankful for the watering that the Lord does in my spirit. Without the continual flow of His power and anointing, I would become dry and wither away.

  26. What fruit is on display?

He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. (Isaiah 27:6 KJV)

Many people like fruits more than any other type of food. Fruit appeals to our eyes and nises because ut is colorful and smells delightful. Fruit is often sweet. Fruit is how trees and other plants feed and protect their seeds.

When we are walking in this world we must see what fruit we exhibit in our own lives. We should appeal to the spirit of a person the way that a piece if fruit appeals to people in a store. We should look good, smell good, and taste good. We should not be bitter or soul. We are here to reflect Christ, not the world around us.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:19-25 KJV)
Make sure the fruit you have on display is the fruit you want God and others to see.

  27. 6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

When we get rooted in the things of God, on a firm foundation, then we can grow. We can mature and bloom in our walk with God and even life. When the church flourishes we will fill the world with fruit!

  28. A garden of breath

    Isaiah 27:2-3
In that day sing ye unto her,
    A vineyard of red wine.
    I the Lord do keep it;
I will water it every moment:
lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

I found it interesting that the passage said a vineyard of wine, and not a vineyard of grapes. To make wine, or juice there is a process.
First the grapes are picked from the vine, and gathered together. Next they are laid on the ground in the sun for many days to increase their sugar content. The grapes are placed into a wine press containing two vessels. In the upper vessel people trampled the grapes with their bare feet. The juice would flow through a channel to the lower vessel. This would be strained through a cloth, and placed into another vessel.

Two thoughts came to my mind. First one vessel was used for crushing while the lower was the recipient of the wine.

We are sometimes crushed for others to be blessed.

Second the passage says a vineyard of wine. This tells me that there is new wine The Lord has that is available everyday. It is a vineyard of wine because he endured the crushing! The process is complete and now it is a fountain of living water springing up into life everlasting.

Hanging on the cross Jesus cried out in desperation “I thirst!” The Bible says a soldier dipped a sop in vinegar and placed it to his lips. Vinegar is soured wine.

Jesus tasted the sour wine, and gave us the best wine. The new wine! The garden of breath, the Holy Ghost!

  29. 1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

    the sword is his word
leviathan, the serpent and the dragon are all descriptions of satan
    the sea represents satans kingdom

The Word of God spoken with authority and boldness will destroy the devil and his kingdom

  30. unless they turn to me for help. Let them make peace with me; yes, let them make peace with me.” (Isaiah 27:5 NLT)

So thankful that the Lord desires for us to make peace with Him even after making wrong decisions. He still desires relationship, for us to seek him and know him in a deeper way. His love is unconditional!!!  What a loving, faithful, merciful and gracious God we serve!!! Great is thy faithfulness!!

I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. (Lamentations 3:20-25 NLT)

  31. 5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

The Lord loves us so much that he forgives our transgressions, he strenghtens us where we are weak and allows us to make peace with him for we are not worthy of him.

Lord thank you for your love and your mercy.

  32. 9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.

Are there any idols in your life that need to be crushed? What is blocking from getting a deeper relationship with God? What is stoping from becoming the person God call you to be? We know that the Lord will not be where there is sin, but he will forgive us, takes us back, restore and make new. “Anything we put before our God is an idol. Anything I want with all my heart is an idol; anything that I can’t stop thinking of is an idol, anything that I want with all my heart is an idol”- from a song from Jimmy Needham…

  33. God’s Got It

3 I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

How truly do we believe God has our back? Do we really believe He is fighting for us? Our actions will reveal it:

    James 2:17-18
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Our lives must come into agreement with what we profess. Unless faith comes into action, words “spoken in faith” will fall flat and purposes will fail. We live a life in faith based in Christ and the truth of who He is.

No matter the situation, the hurt, the need, the dilemma… God’s got it. He’s more than able to take care of it if we will live by faith and give Him room to work.

Now will we live like God’s got it?

    1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

    Philippians 4:6-7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

  34. 13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Praise God for bring me in.

  35. Vs 13 One day the trump of the Lord will sound and those that are saved will be taken out of this world to be with Jesus.

  36. The “monster of the sea” can also be translated as the ‘enemy’ of our souls the “sea” of people (Ps 91:13; Rev 12:9; 20:2). However he gives the salvation plan afterward, for in that time God will gaurd and protect us day and night, He says “or else let them come to me for refuge” ‘repent!’ (vs5) for “Jacob’s guilt will be attoned for and this will be the full fruitage of the removal if his sin” (vs9). He speaks of baptism and death in descripting Jacob as ‘left standing, deolate, forsaken, lie down, bare, broken’ after repentance (vs 10-11). In that day “a great trumpet will sound” kind of like a rush and mighty wind, and we will be gathered up one by one, and will worship the Lord in heaven, his presence the “Holy Spirit” will fill them. This chapter has a double message by telling not only of talking down the enemy, come judgment day, but also of drying up the Euphrates in Rev 9:14; 16:12, and will thresh like Rev 14:14-20).

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.” (Jhn 14:2-3).

Rev 22:12“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.14“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. 16“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give youa this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”
