Isaiah 29

1 Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.

And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:

12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

20 For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

21 That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.

22 Therefore thus saith the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.

23 But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

  1. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as thia

people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a

marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Woe unto them that seek deep hide their

counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

  2. 18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

I’m grateful to be in a church where that day is NOW. There are many churches where these miracles are not happening. Like Bro Morgan said, God is wanting to give us these blessings if we would only receive them.

Lord, help me be open to You and have myself in a Place to be ready to receive what You have for me so that I can help others receive what You have for them.

    Mark 9:23-24 KJV
[23] Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
[24] And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

  3. 10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

I believe we are in the midst of revival, but we always have to be aware of the spirit of [DEEP SLEEP].
Deep sleep will cause us not to see, how we should see. It affects our vision, that we no longer believe we can get what we need. Vision is faith to see what we believe is a great move of God and what we believe God wants to do for the church in this hour. The spirit of Deep sleep will cause us to become mediocre in our walk with God.

WE do not believe God can do this, trust me there is no limit to God, Man is limited to what he can do, but God has no limitations.
When we think we can not understand the words of of a book. The book is sealed so we accept the statement [I can not].

The word teaches us I can do all things through Christ Jesus which strengthens me.

We must watch against the spirit of DEEP SLEEP.

Please lets build our faith on [God can], not God can not!
I do not ever want to feel I can not understand the words of the book. I believe it is meant for me to understand all things I am willing to pay the price to understand!

    The word teaches us study.

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We should always study the word of God not just read, but study. Let’s pray for understanding. We truly need to put more effort into the word of God to know what it says.

I pray that God will not put the spirit of DEEP SLEEP on me but let me be aware and awake to my surroundings. Where I will always be able to resist the enemy!

  4. This makes me feel like running the streets yelling “The day is coming, the day is coming”!!!!! When the enemy will be defeated and the humble will be exalted, because we with. HE GAVE US VICTORY!!!! Thankful that at POFW we are preached the truth and we have been taught not to wax our Lord hand short but to expect the miraculous everyday.

  5. This chapter illustrates all. One must learn to give it all, to the Creator (Jesus); “Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?” What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  6. 16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

God is referred to a potter many times in prophetic books. The analogy of this verse is God as a potter and us pot made from clay. (Adam)
How can the simple pot made from clay ever question the potter or even claim the potter didn’t make him?
Much like us- how can we question Our Creator or his will? Do we know more than the almighty God!?

Just accept his will and be thankful in all circumstances.
    1 Thessalonians 5:18

  7. Mindless Worship

The word for heart used in verse 13 does not mean feelings, but rather the will, mind, and intellect.

The people were going through the motions, and performing a show. Outwardly it looked as if the same ritual, and program was going on. However inwardly their mind was far from God.

They were only doing it because they felt they had to; all the while they yearned for something else other than God. They were allowing their flesh to set the time for their services instead of being lead by the spirit of God.

We cannot hide what is within us. God knows our will!

Jesus told the woman of Samaria what worship he expects.

    John 4:23-24
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The word spirit means breath, attitude, and is used for Holy
Ghost. The word truth means that candour of mind which is free from affection, pretence, simulation, falsehood, deceit.

Joshua was speaking about the heart, the will, when he said these words.

    Joshua 24:15
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

    The choice is yours.

  8. LIP SERVICE

13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Usually the most recognizable attribute that a person seeking to serve the LORD or become part of the Body of Christ is their vocabulary, we begin to talk about the LORD, maybe even pray like the people leading us. As a person there is a certain level of peace and satisfaction from this “fitting in” feeling of honoring the LORD with LIP SERVICE.

We learn from the Word of the LORD that GOD seeks more from us than LIP SERVICE:

Deuteronomy 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

The LORD GOD of Israel (JESUS) seeks heart induced WORSHIP, we are taught to FEAR the LORD, however, there is a greater place of opportunity when our hearts are seeking the LORD GOD.

The Psalmist gives us insight in this area:

Psalms 9:1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

Psalms 111:1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

Psalms 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

Psalms 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Psalms 119:58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

    Thank GOD it is SUNDAY!

  9. 13 The Lord says:

“These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
    Their worship of me
is based on merely human rules they have been taught. NIV

We (I) have to have our own personal relationship with God. When we don’t have that personal relationship with Jesus Christ we are just going thru the motions. Our actions speak louder than our words. We (I) say we are souled out to Jesus but what does our actions say?

  10. Therefore thus saith the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale. But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel. They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine. (Isaiah 29:22-24 KJV)

  11. 13-14 The Master said: “These people make a big show of saying the right thing, but their hearts aren’t in it. Because they act like they’re worshiping me but don’t mean it, I’m going to step in and shock them awake, astonish them, stand them on their ears. The wise ones who had it all figured out will be exposed as fools. The smart people who thought they knew everything will turn out to know nothing.” (MSG)

Forgive us, forgive me, Lord for ever going through the motions and not praising you wholeheartedly. We are nothing without You God!

  12. “These people make a big show of saying the right things but their hearts aren’t in it. Because they act worshipping me but don’t mean it

  13. 18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then he left them and went away.

Isaiah 29:1-13 The blind are ignorant and looking for more. V 14 God will come to the rescure with marvelous works through the Holy Spirit. The evangilistic healing ministry to be loosed in the city to prove God in a mighty way.

Lets get ready church. Let’s be the vessels that God can use to prove himself strong. This world doesnt need a new definition of Christianity, it needs a new demonstration. Be church!!

  15. 13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

    Lost in Translation

As we grow, it becomes imparitative that we are able to translate out testimony to the generations that follow, that they not loose sight of how great God is and what He has done for us.

God tells is here that He will continue to do signs and wonders for His people because they worship, but that their wisdom and understanding will be lost because of their lack of desire to seek after Him. Unfortunately there is a world of denominal churches that preach other than what Paul and the apostles taught, that believe that they are the only ones teaching the true doctoring, just because they are able to see signs and wonders. God honors faith. That’s why He does miracles. His word just told us that. BUT God wants us to do more. The Word tells us that in all our gaining, get wisdom.

We hold the key to future generations’ growth and success, and it all depends on how well we are able to translate what God has done for us…

  16. I know the costs of going through the motions. God I don’t want that anymore and I will serve you with my whole heart!

  17. IIove to the word

8 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

Sorry for the late night blog. 😦

  18. Poser?

13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

The lord is not in search of lip service. He cannot be fooled by our tongues. He knows our heart and if we truly love him.

    John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

    Luke 13:27
But he shall say , I tell you , I know you not whence ye are ; depart from me , all [ye] workers of iniquity .

    It is really very simple…

    Joshua 22:5
But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law , which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God , and to walk in all his ways , and to keep his commandments , and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

    Don’t be a poser!

  19. Verse 13 and 14 speak to honor ing
God with your lips but your heart being far from him.
how easy is it to say I love God but your actions will tell the truth. as I have heard since I was a young child: it’s not what you say is what you do…

  20. It’s Coming

17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

As Pastor said tonight, some miracles take time. But God says “it’s coming.” Delay does automatically equate with denial.

    Daniel 10:12-13
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Don’t give up in the middle of the process! It may look wrong but trust God to work it out!

  21. Reset button 60 Seconds, start, Done!
We don’t serve a microwaveable God!!!

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: (Isaiah 29:13 KJV)

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. (Mark 7:6 KJV)

This is exactly why many people just come and go. People that are CEO’s as pastor would say.
Many are just looking for a surfaced relationship, I’m here, I’ve punched in the clock, “give me, give me, my name is Jimmy”. And leave, then you won’t see them till another year or do.
    SMH!!!
God is truly looking for a deeper relationship with you(us). He’s looking for someone that will truly worship him in Spirit and in Truth. Everyday, every hour, at all times. One’s relationship with God, will truly show in their worship, in their prayer, in their lifestyle, and in their devotion.

  22. 13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

God is waiting on us! He has great promises that are yet to be fulfilled and much favor and blessings to pour out on His people, but we must be in the proper position to receive what He has. I am reminded of a message that Bro. Wayne Huntley preached several years ago, “Don’t be at the bus station, when your ship comes in.” I don’t want to miss our season and time of true Harvest, Revival and Blessing because I am not in the spiritual place God has called me to be. I must turn my heart to the Lord every day and draw near to Him, honor Him with my lips, and my actions, and fear Him with a Godly reverence.

  23. 10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

This verse says to me-Wake up! Now its high time to wake out of sleep, for our salvation is nearer than we believed. Rom 13:11

  24. 13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

I can honestly say that I can relate to this. One can grow up in church all their life and be so close to the fire but still be dry bones. I was taught on all things of the church: to sing for praise, to pray and get on my knees, to memorize scripture and the order of the books of the bible…taught, taught, taught…precepts just like it mentioned here, but my heart was not in it. It was just what I knew to do. Then I would go off and do my own thing. Until I finally I got sincere with God and I said the most honest prayer: I didnt know how to love Him, I didn’t love Him, that I wanted to I just has no idea what I could do… He heard me and he took me on a journey out into the wilderness; took me on a walk took everything away got me on my knees and in the midst of it all… He was the comforter, the protection, the provider, the help… Love. He turned a numb stone heart into a heart of flesh that melts at his presence. He showed Himself to me that I can honestly say blessed the Lord oh my soul..

  25. And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote. (Isaiah 29:13 NLT)

God I don’t want to be a robot were I feel nothing….it’s a scary place when I can’t feel you. I want to always feel you and I don’t want church or my praise or anything to be a routine….

  26. Lord not only my lips bless you but with my whole heart as well. May myself and my family & church family receive vs. 19 in Jesus name, Amen.

    “Be blessed”………

  27. Verse 15 CEV “You are in for trouble, if you try to hide your plans from the Lord! Or if you think what you do in the dark can’t be seen.” The Lord knows all things, whether we confess them or not.

Verse 24 AMP “Those who err in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur [discontentedly] will accept instruction.”

  28. Lips Vs. Hearts

It’s not enough just to practice spiritual rituals. Even if God establishes the religious rules, as he does with the Israelites, they mean nothing to him if his people are cold-hearted when they observe them. They are to worship God their hearts as well as their mouths. Otherwise, they’re counted among the hypocrites. Jesus quotes this verse when he condemns the religious hypocrites of his day (Mt 15:8-9; Mk 7:6-7). Like their ancestors, the Jews around Jesus don’t understand the meaning of true worship. King David explained the worship that God accepts: “You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” (Ps 51:16-17).

God desires our heart, our full attention. Jesus says in Mat 15:8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” So we can actually bless the Lord with our lips, but dishonor God in our heart and our actions. Don’t get me wrong our lips should be subject to Him, but not just our lips (James 3:10-13), not being present for rituals, but participating in praise and worship. Just because we call the church home, we should never become so comfortable or content we cannot praise God, or worse come to disrespect His holy place. Jesus calls those who have become so complacent in rituals like prayer, hypocrites. How can I call myself a child of God if I don’t live like one, one who delights in praising God, praying to God, serving God etc. It really intertwinds with the 1st commandment “37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. ” Strive to do everything for God with your whole heart, this means loving God more than gratifying self because God can satisfy us better than we ever could ourself.

Matt 6:5 “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”
