Isaiah 57

1The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.

Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood.

Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?

Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.

Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.

And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.

10 Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?

12 I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.

13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;

14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.

15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

17 For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.

18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

  1. V 13

    It’s a God thing.

Trust in God. The land is ours. As we are getting ready to move to a new place physically we are also moving to a new place spiritually. Trust in God. Many hardships are to come but keeping our faith in Jesus will bring us to new levels.

Believe sew reap. We are moving to new waters. It is a God thing.

  2. Isaiah 57:6 stones of the stream is thy portion. The Lord was the “portion”(inheritance) of his people, but the people have chosen their stone idols to be their “portion”.
Romans 1:21-25. When people worship creation more than the Creator, God gives them over to their sinful desires to experience the consequences of their choices, The “stream ” in view here is possibly the Gibbon Valley, southwest of Jerusalem, notorious as a place of Moloch worship.

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: But God is the strength of my heart , and my portion forever!!!!
My flesh…heart. My whole being. Amen!!

  3. 19. I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

    John 14:27 KJV
    27. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

    John 16:33 KJV
    33. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
    In fathomless billows of love!

  4. Peace His Wonderful Peace.

1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

I have read this passage many times, but I guess I finally get it today. May be because of all the lost I have had this summer, or may be because my eyes are more open today than before. None the less, today I see, today I understand, today I receive His Peace. Some righteous and merciful men will be taken away from the evil to come. Thank you Jesus for keeping my son from what ever was to come. Thank you Jesus for You are never early nor late, You are always on time. Thank you Jesus for opening my eyes to this new understanding, probably because now I am open and willing to accept it. THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR PEACE!!!!!!!!

  5. This chapter illustrates unrest. True peace, fulfillment and happiness are from God (Jesus), and are available to all. Whereas unrest, loneliness, and suffering are from the deceiver; “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  6. BACK TO SCHOOL/BACK TO GOD

JESUS and his precious BLOOD has cleared the path for every single person to come to HIM and experience HIS saving Grace. Every stumbling block aka “excuse” has been removed come to JESUS today.

The blood of JESUS through HIS death on the Cross has cleared the path, paid the price of our sin and set us free.

  7. 19.I create the fruit of the lips:; peace, peace to him that is for off,and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

  8. 15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.

  9. 4 Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood.

Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

  10. 1The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?

NO MAN LAID IT TO HEART

When we fail to lay it heart, really believe and trust in God.
    1. This will cause the righteous to perish.
    2. We will loose our mercy, which none of us can afford. The price of living without mercy will be to expensive to pay.
    3. Loose our fear of God.
    4. Not afraid to lie.
    5. Forget God.

When we do not do what we know we should and give God our all, we are asking for trouble. I pray we never take what we are doing, in living for God lightly. This is the most serious thing going on in our lives. Everyday there will be a decision we must make and we should always ask ourselves (What would Jesus do).

Let us always consider the righteous and what it means to be righteous!!!!

  11. Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?

  12. 13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;

    Trust in The Lord.

    We must have peace!

  13. 21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

This is a very true statement. We can look at those that are in the world to see that there is no peace. Now, this dose not mean that there will not be troulbe in our life, but this is where the faith in God comes in. He is the one that we turn too in times of trouble. He is peace, when he lives inside of us.

  14. I’ve been in storms where all I desired was the peace that only God could give. I thank God for the opportunity to be in His presence in the time of storms and victories!

  15. Today. Humility

The word screams a deafening cry against pride, and for humility. It is only in humility that God blesses us.

When we repent it is in humility.
When we are baptized it is an act of humility.
When we submit our entire beings and God fills us with his spirit it is all in humility.
Today we can receive miracles, provision, and blessings if we will humble ourselves.

It is he who has clean hands and a contrite heart that can ascend to the mountain of God.

Let’s go high in God today by clothing ourselves in humility.

But for the joy Jesus endured the cross.

Death to self precedes life with him.

  17. Peace in Death

Scripture honors the sanctity of life, and only God holds the right to begin or end a person’s time on earth. So these verses aren’t a justification for suicide, euthanasia or mercy killing. However, they do underscore that the peace of our afterlife with God will far exceed the peace of our days here on earth, Death releases believers from evil, pain and suffering. We can look forward to rest and peace in God’s arms.

1 Cor 15:50What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.51But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
54Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die,j this Scripture will be fulfilled:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.k

55O death, where is your victory?

O death, where is your sting?l”

56For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.58So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

  18. Oh well, I’m tired and so weary
    But I must go alone
Till the lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes
    Well the morning’s so bright
    And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There’ll be no sadness, no sorrow
    No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me
Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be lit by a child
And I’ll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There’ll be no sadness, no sorrow
    No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

this chapter reminds me of this song. When we are in the valley God is with us

  19. Wow. Those who are going after false Gods are really headed in the wrong direction. The things they get when they reap are a direct result of what they have sown.
Be careful to guard your heart and not put yourself in that position.

  20. The end of verse 19 CEV says “……No matter where you are, I, the Lord, will heal you and give you peace.” This reminds me of a song my sister would sing by Candy Hemphill that says:

The only real peace that I have, dear Lord, is in you
The only real peace that I have, dear Lord, is in you
With all life’s frustrations I need you and I know I do
Cause the only real peace that I have, dear Lord, is in you

  21. Hope In God

10 Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.

Being outside the will of God can be very deceptive. It can seem right, feel right, even look right… but putting our hope in falsehood will only destroy us.

    John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

    Psalms 42:5
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

  22. 13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;

14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.

Those who put their trust in the Lord, walk in His ways, seek to do His good pleasure shall possess the land, and inherit His holy mountain. They shall have power to minister to those in need. They shall be able to help those that have stumbled remove the obstacles from their path that they too shall possess the land. It’s time for us to not only pray for the backsliders, but when they do come back, do everything we can to make that transition back into the family of God as easy as possible. Too many times “we” are the stumbling block keeping them from full restoration.

God is no respecter of persons, and neither can we be a respector of persons. If we choose them to fill them with His spirit, who are we to treat them like they have to rights in the church. God forgive us!

  23. 18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him.

The Lord my healer. The Lord that restores. The Lord that makes all things new. God knows we fail and because He loves us He will chastise. Things that happened is a result of our choices and actions, but He is a God that makes all things new. He is a God of restoration. Several times we read in the bible that He will restore that which was lost. The only thing we have to do us approach Him and not let condemnation keep us away but rather conviction bring us to our knees and repent.
Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

  24. 20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

    Peace

I have had the privilage of getting to see a few different waters. The Californian beaches of SanDiego, many lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, and several places along the Texas shoreline. Most of these waters were all too dark and murky to see very far. But whileI was at the coast, I learned something cool, sand is made from shells and bone fragments.

In the morning times, when all is quiet, and the wind has not started blowing, and the cannals have few ships passing through, the waters are calm, glasslike. When there isn’t alot of mud stirred up, you can see a long ways down. When the waters become troubled, the mud is stirred up, the sand and sea weed start rolling in with the waves, and it is almost impossible to see.

When the enemy is able to attack our peace, and stir us up, many times we too loose our vision. We become unable to see clearly what it is that God is trying to tell us, and where He is trying to lead us. We must stay righteous, and keep our peace, so that we might also keep our vision…

  25. Lord remove all the stumbling blocks, and hear our cries!

    13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;

14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
