Isaiah 63

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of theLord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

17 O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

  1. When we disobey God we become his enemy. We need to obey and serve him and he will be our friend. Only a friend would lay down his life so that we might live. Jesus laid down his life for us while we were yet sinners.

  2. HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!
16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

  3. Halt! Who goes there? Advance and be recognized.

In the military we serve a lot of guard duty, we stand watch, if you approach a road block, you will be ask to stop, you will be ask who are you, and to advance and be recognized. They will look at you and if still the can not recognize you, you will be ask to place your ID on the ground and step back. Then, you will be approached and ID examined to identify you. Sometimes when we say Who Goes There? They will respond with a password, or code that was given specifically for that day.

In the same way, we should have watch upon our hearts. You shouldn’t just let everyone and everything come right in like they are at home. Identify, recognize, and discern who or what you allow in your heart.

It is up to us to recognize Who He is?? Our Redeemer, Our Savior, Our Lord, Our Heavenly Father, Our Holy Spirit, Our Counselor, Our Prince of Peace, Our Strong Tower, and the Sheppard of our flock. Call upon Him, it is never too late to be redeemed!!!!! Thank you Jesus for your salvation is Here!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. 17 O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

Why do we blame God? Is it because we know perfect as a “messed up , everyone lies,” mentality; therefore God is not perfect? God created us. It was the fall of man in the garden that started the lying. God’s ways are above ours. He knows exactly what He doing. It’s us who have this mentality that no one is every perfect , so that means God must have made a mistake. Wow, be into us. God has a plan for our lives and we must be willing to go down into those valleys just as much as going up to the mountain tops. It’s the ride of life. God has a set plan and purpose for each of us. Even when we think that it’s wrong. The fire purifies us and makes us stronger. The process of tempering , which is where you heat and cool a piece of steel. Every time you do this process it makes it stronger. Be encouraged , God is not mocked. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

  5. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

    WHO’S SIDE YOU ON

This teaches us in our affliction, he is afflicted. He will even send his angels to save us. He will redeem us because of his love. He will carry us if we will live for him and put him first in our lives. There is nothing God will not do for his people. He will go to great efforts to show his love and redemption to a people that will call on his name and praise him.

This is how we show God we are on his side, by displaying true love toward God. Living for him, many people are like Peter that says I will die with you, but Jesus wants someone to live for him first. We need to be witnesses in this generation, show people Jesus in our lives. Christ in us the hope of glory, let out little light shine. I am afraid sometimes our light is too little, when we need it to be bright in a world that is so dark. People are in a world without hope at the end of the day. I hope we let them see Jesus.

The results when we rebel against God and do not what his word teaches. The God that laid down his life for us has now become our enemy and fights against us. I do not want to be God’s enemy!!!!
I want to adjust my thinking to include God in my life. All the love God has shown for us has now been turned to hatred.
    What a thought!!!
Please help me Jesus to be more like you and less like the world around me.

PLEASE DO NOT BECOME GOD’S ENEMY!!!

    “Looking for Help”

5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

God is always looking for help in the kingdom of God. God and his team are always searching and seeking for labourers and intercessors. God wants to “use” us, the real question is are we willing to do what it takes to be used.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (Matthew 9:37, 38 KJV)

  7. 15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?
16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.
17 O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

    Frustrations

AsI read these verses, I saw something that rang home deep inside of me. MAny times I have gotten frustrated about the “process”.I have wondered “Why”, why now, why this, why must I wait?

Here we are able to see yet another great man of God, doing the same, as he asks God, Why do they get to destroy what you have give to your people…me. You called me. You chose me. So why do they get the perks that are supposed to be mine? When am I going to get to see you flex your arm for me? God I brought these guys to church and now they are out there preaching your word, andf I am the one who taught them bible studies? What did I do? I taught them what your word says, and they are teaching loose/ false doctorine, what did I do? When is it going to be my turn?

God knows the very intents of our hearts. He knows our dark secrets. He knows what we are in need of before we do.

Although the process is often times not what we expect, or the way we expect, it is still the process that WE need so that we learn best. It is the process which proves us best. We cannot allow the process to cause us to throw in the towel, there are too many souls counting on us to share what He is doing for us to them, and give them hope of the same..

  12. BLESSED TO REST

14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

The Holy Spirit is our eternal guide and if we walk in HIM, if we live for and follow the Spirit of GOD. The Spirit of GOD is the BLESSING.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

In this passage we see the hand of GOD guide Moses through the ups and downs of the process of the will of GOD.

verse 14 says, “the Spirit of the Lord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.”

As we walk in the PEACE of GOD we make the name of JESUS glorious!

    How we REST.

Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Being FILLED with the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking with tongues, is the REST that makes the name of JESUS glorious.

  13. 15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

  14. Beware of the reprobate mind

O LORD , why hast thou made us to err from thy ways , and hardened our heart from thy fear ? Return for thy servants sake, the tribes of thine inheritance .
    NET
Why, LORD, do you make us stray from your ways, and make our minds stubborn so that we do not obey you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your inheritance!

How direct this hardening is, one cannot be sure. The speaker may envision direct involvement on the Lord’s part. The Lord has brought the exile as judgment for the nation’s sin and now he continues to keep them at arm’s length by blinding them spiritually. The second half of 64:7 might support this, though the precise reading of the final verb is uncertain. On the other hand, the idiom of lament is sometimes ironic and hyperbolically deterministic. For example, Naomi lamented that Shaddai was directly opposing her and bringing her calamity (Ruth 1:20-21), while the author of Ps 88 directly attributes his horrible suffering and loneliness to God (see especially vv. 6-8, 16-18). Both individuals make little, if any, room for intermediate causes or the principle of sin and death which ravages the human race. In the same way, the speaker in Isa 63:17 (who evidences great spiritual sensitivity and is anything but “hardened”) may be referring to the hardships of exile, which discouraged and even embittered the people, causing many of them to retreat from their Yahwistic faith. In this case, the “hardening” in view is more indirect and can be lifted by the Lord’s intervention. Whether the hardening here is indirect or direct, it is important to recognize that the speaker sees it as one of the effects of rebellion against the Lord (note especially 64:5-6).

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge , God gave them over to a reprobate mind , to do those things which are not convenient ; Being filled with all unrighteousness , fornication , wickedness , covetousness , maliciousness ; full of envy , murder , debate , deceit , malignity ; whisperers , Backbiters , haters of God , despiteful , proud , boasters , inventors of evil things , disobedient to parents , Without understanding , covenantbreakers , without natural affection , implacable , unmerciful : Who knowing the judgment of God , that they which commit such things are worthy of death , not only do the same , but have pleasure in them that do them.

When we turn from God we risk be hardened and turned over to a reprobate mind. Be careful what you do. When your sin is exposed thank God for the grace and mercy and repent. Continuing down the wrong path can be your end.

    Heb 4:1, 6:1-4
    Judges 19
    Ezekiel 3:20

I thank God for his mercy and unmerited favor. Bless The Lord all my soul. He is worthy of more than I can ever give in this life.

  15. v15-16″ Where is thy zeal and thy strength,”

Sometimes it seems that GOD is no where to be found. At first when we come in prayer into HIS presence we can’t feel HIM and HE seems like a stranger at first. As we begin to pour our heart out and empty self out and carnility . We get so full of this world that first we must get out of this world before we can come into HIS PRESENCE.
We should be patient at the Master’s
door. Then one hour of prayer turns to
2-4 hrs. You don’t want to leave HIS presence because you love HIM so much
LORD…..I want to practice your presence to be near you.

  16. 8 He said, “They are my very own people. Surely they will not betray me again.” And he became their Savior.
9 In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally[a] rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years.
10 But they rebelled against him and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he became their enemy and fought against them.

Don’t forget who saved you and turn on Him like He’s the bad guy to blame… Like Dr. Hugh spoke to us about, we people make dumb decisions and that is that. Don’t play the blame game and act like you’re not at fault, when it really is all on you. Take responsibility for your actions, good or bad.

  17. 8 or he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

The Lord is our savior and there is none like him. When we get into trouble, we can just call on the Lord and he will be right there.

  18. 14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of theLord caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

Lead us Lord is my prayer, for your names’ sake. We labor in vain to build this house unless you oh Lord build it for your glory. Go before us and drive out the enemy so that your people can dwell in peace & safety. Amen

  19. His Name!

16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

    Act 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

There are 243 verses in the bible that say “the NAME of the Lord”

The name was secret till the Angel of the Lord gave it to Joseph

    Jdg 13:17
And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What [is] thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?

    Jdg 13:18
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it [is] secret?

    Mat 1:20
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

    Mat 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

    Zec 12:8
In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David [shall be] as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.

Everything points toward the Name of Jesus

  20. Our Father

Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. (Isaiah 63:16 KJV)

Fathers are more than just DNA donors. They are a special group that provides and cares for their families. That work to ensure their families are safe and properly taken care of as well. God is the greatest example of a father that we have.

If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (Luke 11:11-13 KJV)

  21. Verse 7
    his mercy endures forever…
this verse talked about God’s kindness and love towards his people. Israel remembered his loving kindness and tender mercies and give glory to God because of it. we should always talk and remember the grace and mercy of God and what he’s done for our lives. because if it had not been for the Lord it was on our side where would we be.

  22. More than a label

    Isaiah 63:19
    We are thine:thou never barest rule over them;
they were not called by thy name.

Many today claim the title “Christian.” They attend buildings with crosses on them, and religious names on their signs.
Many dress up, carry a bible, and travel to their respective places of “church.”

Yet the church, and Christian is more than just a label.

I can put on a police uniform, carry a gun, and drive a white ford crown Victoria yet I am still not a cop.

Ownership is predicated upon loyalty. To be truly God’s we must go the title to the place of sallow him to bare rule over us.

We are truly his when we love him and keep his commandments and his commandments are not grievous.

  23. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

When all else has failed. When know one else could save. When know one could heal, and deliver he became our salvation.

The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. -Exodus 15:2

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. -Isaiah 12:2

  24. Why would you blame other people for your actions or even the devil? You made the decisions and you should take ownership of them and the consequences that come with it. God gave us our own will and its our fault if we mess it up because we made the decision to do it.

God, give me the conscience to take responsibility for my actions. Make in me a new spirit to make the choices and decisions you want me to. Thank you Jesus!

  25. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

God is the same God that parted the Red Sea he still is and always has been…. Maybe he’s just waiting for someone with enough faith to take on a something like that, so that his name may be glorified once again.

  26. Faithfulness

    Isaiah 63:9 NLT
In all their suffering he also suffered,
and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them
    through all the years.

God is faithful! I’m reminded of that song, “as I look back over my life and I think things over, I can truly say that I’ve been blessed, I’ve got a testimony…”

    Lamentations 3:22-26
22 It is of the Lord ‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

God is intimately acquainted with our ups and downs; to Him, our life is not a distant, trivial dot in the midst of so many other dots in all creation. He is not uncaring but rather compassionate, meek and lowly of heart:

    Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

No matter what it is, Jesus is our answer. He is faithful as our refuge and Savior. He invites us to join in faithfulness, though.

    1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

We must humble ourselves to be faithful to God in casting our cares upon Him. Sometimes we’ll do it for a little while, then go back to trying to carry it all ourselves, but God calls us to full time faithfulness. He is serious about His faithfulness and wants us to be so as well.

How much better could it be if we surrendered it all? Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His Word, just rest upon His promise, and to know, “thus saith the Lord”…

  27. Challenging God

The praise in this chapter turns into frustration as Isaiah struggles to understand why God would allow his people to wander. Why would the Creator harden their hearts? Perhaps the prophet expresses how he feels, not what he knows to be true. God isn’t the author of sin, but he allows humans the privilege of free choice. It may seem like the Lord hardens people’s hearts, but they actually turn their own hearts to stone (Ex 7:3). Heartbroken people don’t always discern the difference between what God causes and what God allows.

  28. This chapter illustrates communication. Their own ways became first. One must maintain communication (prayer) with God, in order to stay connected. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  29. Enemy of the Lord

10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

It’s is stressed over and over to obey the commandments, to cast down idols, to turn from evil ways. Throughout the old testament we read how the Lord time and time again has stepped in and saved his people. It is rebellion, disobedience that has always broken the relationship.

In verse 9 the Lord shows His mercy and love..

9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

But they rebelled… V10 which means they had some commandments, precepts, statutes, and laws to follow and abide by. I’m pressed to think that if things aren’t going right, problems at work, home and your relationships.. Could it be that we may have a kingdom issue rather than a people issue? Could it be that you have turned away from the ways of the Lord and He has become your enemy?
Remember obedience is better than sacrifice. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.

  30. But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit:

    10

therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
because of the rebellion of Israel God’s people was cursed. they wandered around in the wilderness for 40 years. it was unbelief that put them in that positron. God help me never to doubt your promises for your promises are true. I don’t want to spend my life wondering in the wilderness spiritually I want to live a life with a purpose in a goal for the kingdom of God

  31. Verse 7 NLT “I will tell of the Lord’s unfailing love. I will praise the Lord for all he has done. I will rejoice in his great goodness to Israel, which he has granted according to his mercy and love.” Never forget who brought you out!

  32. I will tell of the Lord ’s unfailing love. I will praise the Lord for all he has done. I will rejoice in his great goodness to Israel, which he has granted according to his mercy and love. (Isaiah 63:7 NLT)
