Jeremiah 9

1 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the Lord.

Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith theLord.

Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the Lord: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.

11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of theLord hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

13 And the Lord saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;

14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

15 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

17 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:

18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.

20 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.

21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

22 Speak, Thus saith the Lord, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.

23 Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am theLord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

25 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.

  1. 7. THERFORE THUS SAITH THE LORD OF HOSTS, BEHOLD I WILL MELT THEM, AND TRY THEM, FOR HOW SHALL I DO FOR THE DAUGHTER OF MY PEOPLE.

  2. 15 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
    16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

    What would cause God to do this to a People?

    13 And the Lord saith, Because they have forsaken my law
    which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
    14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

    Proverbs 1:8 KJV
    [8] My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

    [20] My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
    [23] For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

  3. 12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the Lord hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

    THE WISE MAN

    This scripture says who is the wise man, that may understand? Could we be considered the wise man that understands the Lord will not tolerate sin, he is a God that will bring judgement to the house of God. We need to understand and let our wisdom lead us into the paths of righteousness.
    A wise man will heed the words of the man of God. A man of God will declare what God gives him.

    My prayer today and everyday is for God to give me wisdom.

  4. These are my people?
    Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.     THIS is why we must SEPERATE ourselves from the world. If we are surrounded by these people, then we start to think what they are doing is ok. IT’S NOT OK! God does not approve and we should not either. We are to live a holy, separated, life! My people should not be of this world, but rather friends that have chosen the same holy life style as me.

    Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15 KJV)

    Look close at your PEOPLE! Then examine why they are your people. Where are you leading them? Where are they leading you?

  5. 6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith theLord.

    Deceit: deception, fraud, double-dealing, subterfuge, trickery

    The seven eyes of The Lord see what is really going on. Just because you trick your brother doesn’t mean that God doesn’t see the truth.

    Be careful of what you say about your brother because the perception of the people are subject to the words of their leaders. If you say something in haste and it is taken the wrong way you might have killed your brother with your tounge and not even realize it.

    Proverbs 18
    21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

    Deceit is just a really well told lie that covers your own backside with everyone else but it’s still a lie.

    Deceit is exagerating a fact or situation. Exagerating the truth IS a sin!!!!

    Deceit is assuming that you know someone’s motives and blasting your own opinion of what or who they are. This WILL kill a revival!!!!

    Titus 3:10-11
    As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful;

    Matthew 18:15-17

    “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

    Don’t give your opinion as the truth about the matter before you talk with your brother. Most of the time all you have to do is ask for clarification and you too will understand.

    Remember what brother Hughes said…
    If someone does something wrong intentionally he is a sociopath.

    Deciet looks like the truth until you start digging.

  6. “A time is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will punish all those who are circumcised in body but not in spirit— the Egyptians, Edomites, Ammonites, Moabites, the people who live in the desert in remote places, and yes, even the people of Judah. And like all these pagan nations, the people of Israel also have uncircumcised hearts.” (Jeremiah 9:25, 26 NLT)

    Tell me where your Heart is …. And we’ll see your spiritual condition. Our hearts must be fully engaged and unwavering in faith. Our we become impotent- blind, halt and withered. We must worship and serve God with our whole heart.

    And so the Lord says, “These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote. (Isaiah 29:13 NLT)

    Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)

    ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’ ” (Matthew 15:8, 9 NLT)

  7. 7 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says:

    “See, I will refine and test them,
    for what else can I do
    because of the sin of my people?
    8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow;
    it speaks deceitfully.
    With their mouths they all speak cordially to their neighbors,
    but in their hearts they set traps for them.
    9 Should I not punish them for this?”
    declares the Lord.
    “Should I not avenge myself
    on such a nation as this?” NIV
    Be careful what you say about the leaders of the church, Pastor and Pastors wife. God doesn’t talk lightly to someone talking about the man of God and you will be punished. We have the ability to speak either life or death into someone’s life. What are you spreading today life or death? You know if you are thinking something bad about your brother or sister God sees it, don’t harbour things in your heart against anyone forgive and forget. We are all going to go thru life being lied upon talked about and hurt but we are no exception wasn’t Jesus treated the same way?
    When things start going wrong i sing this old song:

    When there’s nobody else to turn to
    Who do I talk to,
    When nobody wants to listen
    Who do I lean on,
    When there’s no foundation stable
    I go to the rock
    I know he’s able
    I go to the rock

    Chorus:
    I go to the rock of my salvation
    I go to the stone that the builders rejected
    I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me
    When the earth all around me is sinking sand
    On Christ the solid rock I stand
    When I need a shelter
    When I need a friend I go to the rock

    Take your problems to Jesus and talk with him he will give you wisdom on what to do and it stays with you and Jesus!!!!

    Weeping over a sinful nation….

    There are tears of joy and tears of sorrow. So many times leaders have to switch between both and too often they most produce tears of sorrow. When we sin it doesn’t just affect us, it also puts a burden on our pastor. This weight can cause a pastor to lament for hours, days and sometimes even weeks. Pastors don’t weep because they are weak, they do so because they have a genuine care about the people and they don’t want to see their soul lost.

    In this chapter sin had gotten so out of hand that the prophet spoke of just going away to a secluded place to get away from the sin. When there is a compassionate heart for the people, the burden of the people’s sin can get to the point that you just want to run. However, because God is our strength and when we are weak, then are we strong, a good shepherd will pray harder, fast longer and read continuously.

  9. Are you really circumcised???

    24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
    25 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
    26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.

    Circumcision is just a fleshly symbol of a souls commitment. What was the use of being circumcised in flesh if your soul is not entirely committed to God. Lets surrender ALL, completely to our Lord Jesus Christ so we may enjoy His loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth.

    HALELUJAH!!! THE WOMEN ASSISTING!!! AS I SIT AND I MEDITATE ON THE WOMEN (myself) IS THERE ANY WAY, FASHION OR FORM THAT I MAY BE ABLE TO SERVE THE PEOPLE THAT GOD HAS PLACED IN OUR CHURCH AS LEADERS, AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF CHRIST??? IS THERE ANY WAY THAT I CAN SERVE!!! WHY??? BECAUSE, THE FACT THAT I AM NOBODY……. I AM THE LEAST OF YOU ALL AND GOD HAS GIVEN ME THE PRIVILEGE TO SERVE!!! HALELUJAH!!! GOD HAS BEEN MORE THAN GOOD TO ME!!! I TRULY BELIEVED THAT EVERY SERVANT OF THE MOST HIGH GOD WOULD HAVE THIS MENTALITY, BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE WANT A TITLE SO THAT THEY MAY BEGIN TO SERVE, NOT REALIZING THAT OUR REWARD IS IN HEAVEN AND THAT A TITLE WILL NOT GET US INTO HEAVEN……… I PRAY THAT I WOULD NEVER LOSE THE DESIRE TO SERVE!!! THANK GOD FOR PASTOR AND SISTER WATTS!!! GOD BLESS THEM!!! HALELUJAH!!!

    Travailing

    There is a lost world not only all around us, but also with us…. Who is going to catch a burden for souls???

  13. 25 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
    26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.

    We understand that the circumcision is a type of the flesh and heart. Circumcision is the cutting away of flesh. And we must take this as a cutting away of the flesh of our hearts. So in this passage those who have cut away at the heart to make it pure, will also be judged as those that have not. Our God is just. Woe be unto the one who says in their heart that they have repented and then true right back to that sin. In the military the word” repent” means to turn around. The same goes for the scripture “repentance” it means to turn away from that sin, or circumcise it from your life. A true repentant heart is a circumcised heart.

  14. Vs. 13-14, “And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein; But have walked after the imaginations of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:”

    The reason the people had forsaken the law of God, disobeyed his voice, and walked in the imaginations of their heart was because their fathers taught them about false gods. (Idols).

    This passage of scripture made me think about the influence that parents have upon their children and other children. I want to be a good influence and example to my son and the children I teach in Sunday School. May I teach them in the ways of the One True God. JESUS!

    Prov. 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

    One of my favorite scriptures is 2 Timothy 3:15, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

    One of the greatest joys a parent or a Sunday School teacher can have is teaching the Word of God to the children, seeing them learn, understanding the plan of salvation, giving their hearts to Jesus, receiving the Holy Ghost, and growing up and living their lives for the Lord.

    God has called out to His people, He has tried them affliction to see if they would return to Him, and yet they continued in their rebellious ways. He is a good of mercy and grace, but He also is a God of judgment. There are many who have left the path of truth to follow after their own lusts and desires that believe that He is only a god of mercy, and there is no way He will bring the judgement of death upon their lives. But the scripture clearly says that though they were once circumcised (baptized, walked in truth) that now they walk after their own desires, and they likewise will be judged with the uncircumcised.

    MSG – 25-26 “Stay alert! It won’t be long now”—God’s Decree!—“when I will personally deal with everyone whose life is all outside but no inside: Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab. All these nations are big on performance religion—including Israel, who is no better.”

    My prayer today is Lord don’t let me have a life that is outside only, but let your spirit be alive inside, leading and guiding me in the paths of righteousness for your name sake!

    4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2Corinthians 4:4.
    People don’t know God because they have been deceived and blinded by this world and the god of this world. It’s our job to shine God’s light and keep the doors open to the lost. They don’t know him and they don’t want to know Jesus because they are living in the middle of a deceitful world. We must show God’s love be his light witness and be the example of a good CHRISTian where ever we go. We don’t know how many of the lost are watching us and if they see the joy of the Lord in is like bromo preached last night and we have already witnessed to them, they will know exactly where to find HIM. Our job is to lift up Jesus!
    John 12:32
    And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

  17. O THAT I MAY KNOW HIM

    23 Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
    24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am theLord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
    25 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

    My soul is stirred to levels that I am not sure how to contain. As we are in our generation watching prophesy unfold as history does repeat itself. In the past month we have witnessed a supposed wise man and a supposed mighty man in the eyes of the world. Both men publicly denounced the word of GOD. I will share links to the stories below.

    However, that is not what I desire to focus on today.

    The words of the Apostle Paul sum up my life desire as they also reflect on what the prophet Jeremiah recorded as the “cut-off” from the LORD. Knowledge and Understanding of the LORD with FRUIT following. Also he included that we MUST be circumcised, cut off from the flesh, not only in outward appearance, but also in the HEART. We should be separate from the world in our outward appearance, we should much more be separate in our hearts. Having a HEART after GOD and the things of HIS Kingdom and not lusting after the things in and of the world. Choose the eternal over the temporal.

    Philippians 3:8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ
    9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.
    10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
    11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! pians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

    O THAT I MAY KNOW HIM and LIVE!

    I am praying for those that have been led astray by false doctrine and deception.

    There is probably some confused people that follow these ministries, we must be ready to share our KNOWledge of JESUS CHRIST and HIS ETERNAL word.

  18. The beginning of this chapter talks about a faithless people, liars (enemies of truth), and an ignorant people not willing to acknowledge or know the Lord. The Lord calls it as it is! We must be careful not to get to this point, as the scriptures say “pile wrong upon wrong, stack lie upon lie” and we are no longer able to see truth.

    The scriptures in the middle of the chapter talk to me about heritage. I am so thankful for what my grandparents taught my parents, what they taught me and now I am passing onto my children. Not everyone however is this blessed, many have never heard of this Jesus we speak of and praise. As Sis. Gulley mentioned in her blog, it is an honor and privilege to see and teach our children every Sunday in Sunday School. To see them so eager and ready to receive, as Bro. Morgan preached last night, I too see those big brown, blue, black and green eyes just looking in awe at learning about this awesome Father we serve.

    The end of the chapter in verse 24 CEV says “If you feel you must brag, then have enough sense to brag about worshiping me, the Lord. What I like best is showing kindness, justice, and mercy to everyone on earth.” Let’s brag on Jesus POFW!

      Last night as I went on a prayer walk through the Rockies, I saw, rocks, trees, lights and it was raining. The LORD spoke to my SPIRIT; “I am all of these”.

      HE is the ROCK of SALVATION.
      HE is the TREE of LIFE.
      HE is the LIGHT of the world.
      HE is the RAIN the WELL of LIVING WATER.

  19. this chapter and all the other ones in this book is very clear how God is trying to say to us clean up my/our lives so we can be with Him one day. I have been following Jeremiah this whole chapter and writing down the blogs on paper. And to me God is trying to tell me to “put-up or be quiet!” I pray that I just wont be an average Christian but the child of God that He wants me to be. And to help be the witness He wants me to be to help further His Kingdom.
    I love you Jesus- what an awesome God you are.

  21. This chapter illustrates consequences. Although given many chances they remained unchanged. There are consequences for ones un-repented actions; “Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein; But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them”. One (I) must abstain from sin and be quick to repent, thank God (Jesus) for the blood! What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  24. Be very careful in what you say, The Lord and you’re children are listening!!!!

    “Their tongues shoot out lies like a bow shoots arrows— A mighty army of liars, the sworn enemies of truth. They advance from one evil to the next, ignorant of me.” God ’s Decree. “Be wary of even longtime neighbors. Don’t even trust your grandmother! Brother schemes against brother, like old cheating Jacob. Friend against friend spreads malicious gossip. Neighbors gyp neighbors, never telling the truth. They’ve trained their tongues to tell lies, and now they can’t tell the truth. They pile wrong upon wrong, stack lie upon lie, and refuse to know me.” God ’s Decree. (Jeremiah 9:3-6 MSG)
    What a way to bring division in the body.
    Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. (Proverbs 18:21 MSG)

  25. 7 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

    8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

  26. ‘My God is awesome He can move mountains, keep me in the valley, hide me from the rain!
    My God is awesome heals me when I’m broken, strength where I’ve been weakened, forever He will regin!
    My God is awesome savior of the whole world, giver of salvation by His stripes I am healed!
    My God is awesome today I am forgiven His grace is why I’m living praise His holy name!’

    He has done all of this for us and yet we still have not gotten off of our seats to reach to His people so that they can feel Him and reap His great works!! The harvet is ready POFW are we ready to collect it?! They’re there, waiting and hungry! It is due time to bring them home!!

  27. 20 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.

  28. 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am theLord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

    It all boils down to relationship. When we know God, and understand him, and when we choose to align ourselves with his word, and his purpose we are truly whole, and free.

  29. 23 Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

    24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am theLord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

    For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. -1 Corinthians 3:19

    Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. -1 Corinthians 1:25

    But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. -2 Corinthians 10:17

    Education and earthly knowledge is good and we should strive to get all that we can. But remember the wisdom of this world will never supersede know him.

    The only boasting we should have about what we know is that we know him.

    That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; -Philippians 3:10

  30. 10 I will weep for the mountains
    and wail for the wilderness pastures.
    For they are desolate and empty of life;
    the lowing of cattle is heard no more;
    the birds and wild animals have all fled.
    11 “I will make Jerusalem into a heap of ruins,” says the Lord.
    “It will be a place haunted by jackals.
    The towns of Judah will be ghost towns,
    with no one living in them.”
    12 Who is wise enough to understand all this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it to others? Why has the land been so ruined that no one dares to travel through it?

    13 The Lord replies, “This has happened because my people have abandoned my instructions; they have refused to obey what I said. 14 Instead, they have stubbornly followed their own desires and worshiped the images of Baal, as their ancestors taught them. 15 So now, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: Look! I will feed them with bitterness and give them poison to drink. 16 I will scatter them around the world, in places they and their ancestors never heard of, and even there I will chase them with the sword until I have destroyed them completely.”

    I read this chapter over several times and in a few different translations but I felt impressed while reading these verses in the NLT that God feels similar when prayer closets are abandoned by His people. I believe God’s heart breaks when prayer is neglected. In prayer there is life but without comes death. Death to relationship, ministries, power, etc. prayer is so very important to God, It’s one of His vital instructions. Satan attacks prayer time because he understands its value. Distractions are put in place, and we are tempted to follow our fleshly desires instead. Once a habit of prayer is broken it seems almost impossible to return to, like crossing through a destitute wasteland, but God is calling His children back to prayer. There is no time to be stubborn about our will thinking everything will be ok. The time is now. Return now. Pray now.

    1 Peter 3:12
    For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (KJV)

  31. Once Saved, Not Always Saved

    25 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

    Uncircumcision is described as not just a state but a process, and one which can be achieved as a departure from circumcision. Just because we once had IT doesn’t mean we can’t lose IT. Daily we must discipline ourselves to see, hunger, and diligently seek for IT. Our security is not in a onetime decision but in the process of circumcision through daily decisions to get IT. The big things look good on the surface but it’s in the small, mundane details of life that we can meet God and really get IT. Things we call insignificant can be quite significant to God as He calls us to many divine appointments throughout the day. We cannot afford to despise the small things for it is there that we will find what we need as we reach for IT in our lives.

    Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand. (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.)

  32. 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am theLord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

    My greatest blessing is the Lord.
    My greatest and most fulfilling reward is the Lord. I can do, create, build, acquire knowledge, study all the matters, but now that this world can offer can compare to the greatest reward to Know the Lord.
    Phillipians 3:8
    8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

  33. 2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
    3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the Lord.

    God doesn’t punish for no reason. This chaprer only touches on how evil their ways had become. They had become a people who never even regarded God in their acts. God is a loving God but he is also a just God.

  34. God sees the heart
    Jeremiah 9:26

    Jesus is more concerned with the heart than with religious practices that accompany living for God. In most of Jesus’ ministry he preached on conditions of the heart. The inside must influence the outside. Many times people are religious practicians rather than God fearing worshipers. When we play church and live sin, we are uncircumcised in Gods eyes.

  35. Bragging Rights

    23Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

    24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am theLord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

    Jeremiah notes that people take pride in their wisdom, power and riches. After all these centuries they still boast about their intellect, personal prowess and wealth. They still think they can save themselves with their own skills and abilities. But God firmly rejects their boasting. He says they can, and should, in only one thing: Him. They shall boast that they know God, not that their heads are filled with knowledge; boast that they rely on God, not on their own abilities or strength; and boast that they are a compassionate and just people, not that they are rich and powerful. While humanity looks at the outward appearance and earthly gains, God calls His people to a higher responsibility of reflecting His kindness, justice, and righteousness to the self-glorifying world around them.
