Jeremiah 25

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;

The which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,

From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.

They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:

And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the Lord; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,

Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the Lord, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

13 And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.

14 For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.

15 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.

16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

17 Then took I the cup at the Lord’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom theLord had sent me:

18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

20 And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

21 Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon,

22 And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea,

23 Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners,

24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert,

25 And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,

26 And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

27 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.

29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.

30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith theLord.

32 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

33 And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.

35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the Lord hath spoiled their pasture.

37 And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

38 He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.

  1. 3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

    Time’s up…
They had all this time to hearken to the voice of God but chose to continue in their own way, and now it sounds like God has drawn the line and is saying, “Time’s up, you had your chance!”

We all have a set time when God will say the same to us; but like them, we don’t know when that time will come!

Will we yield and respond in time?

Will we tell others the clock is ticking?

    Hebrews 9:27 KJV
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

    Matthew 25:13 KJV
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

  2. God has drawn the line that no one dare cross.

Pastors carry a great responsibility. This is the result of Pastors that did not speak the truth, sold God’s principles and truth for popularity votes. Their sheaves scattered, dead, gone, never to be found again. Desolate they stand out of the law, their covering is gone, and now it is time for justice. Divine justice is inevitable, judgement day will come, and it is up to us to keep His covenant, His Laws, His truth, and share it with the world. It is our responsibility to make sure that whom ever is preaching to us it’s not compromising the truth in any way. I don’t think Pastor will ever get offended if we were to go to him and say..”where do you find that in the bible again?” For he knows that he has great responsibility and we need to make sure that as it says it in Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

  3. 3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

4 And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.

Just like in those times, we see quickly approaching, the day of judgment. Time after time, years, seasons, pass. Preachers come, the word is sent out. Thus saith the Lord. Now will this generation hearken? There is a time limit for us, and that’s where God draws the line and says that is enough. We all will be given the same opprtunity to hear the gospel and message of salvation, and time has been given us for humanity to repent, that grace period. We don’t know the day or the hour when He shall return again, but the signs are all there that is coming soon.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Matthew 25:13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

  5. 25:17 A symbolic description of Jeremiah’s announcement of divine judgment against the nations.

25:18 God’s own people are to be judged first…v.29 For lo, I begin to bring evilon the city which is called by my name, and should ye ve utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.

  6. 6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
As long as we are doing what God has called us to do and living like we should God is with us. This verse reminds of an old song:
    Fill my cup Lord
I lift it it up Lord come and quich this thirsting of my soul
Bread of heaven make me till I want no more fill my cup fill it up and make me whole.
We have to get so thirsty for God that we don’t want to have any other idols in our life .

  7. WHEN JUDGEMENT COMES

4 And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.
5 They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:
6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
7 Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the Lord; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,

The WORD of the LORD through the man of GOD is to be taken very serious. Eventually GOD will require of us that we answer for the WORDS that he has sent to The POFW through the various prophets.

We are in a SEASON of Miracles and it is TIME NOW to harken. Do not resist, rebel or reject any longer. It is TIME NOW to seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD.

GOD is challenging us to Pray Outreach and Praise and SUPERSIZE IT!

    Pray BIG prayers!

Be prayerful to not be caught as Israel was in resisting the WORD of the LORD.

  8. When we dont do what God tells us to do ,there will be problems up ahead. When we rebell against the Word of God, we will strugle with thing in our lives. Just as God allowed the Chilodren of Isreal to be in bondage, He will allow us to go through things in our lives. THankfully we serve a just God, and when we repent of our sins, and be baptized in Jesus Name. We have a hope and a promise that we will be free.

  9. 30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

  10. 6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

There is only one true God that we should serve. Any other so called god is false. Don’t get caught up in the gods of this world. Anything you put before the one true God, you are servant to it and you have made that your god. The truth must be told, there is only one and there will always be only one that can save you. It’s time to proclaim the name of Jesus.

  11. 4 “Again and again the Lord has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention.
5 Each time the message was this: ‘Turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing. Only then will I let you live in this land that the Lord gave to you and your ancestors forever.
6 Do not provoke my anger by worshiping idols you made with your own hands. Then I will not harm you.’ (NLT)

There is only ONE GOD who desires the greatest for and from His people. We see later after these verses the consequences of making an idol before Him. Breaking the number one commandment God has for us, His people, only belittles God and tells Him that He is not number one in our lives. Forgive us, me Lord, for ever intentionally or unintentionally putting someone or something before you.

  12. 10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

It appears in this chapter that Jeremiah is foretelling of a time when God’s mercy and grace is withdrawn from the people. When he takes our voice that we can no longer speak about him or too him, and takes the light out of our candle (his spirit) we become a people with no hope.

We must turn our heart to the Lord, and remove any cold heartedness, rebellion or weights from our lives so that we harken unto the words of the Lord and His prophets.

  13. 4 And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear

Gods spirit will not always strive with man
God was frustrated because they would not hearken to his voice. They may have heard it but they did not hearken. The difference is if they hearkened to Gods word they would have acted upon what He said. Instead they walked in their own way and disobeyed and as a result they were punished.

  14. In this verse, you can see there is another warning from God to simply turn from their evil ways. To simply maintain in the land given unto them, and the fathers. We need to keep our promised land as well, turning constantly unto God for everything. “Draw Nigh to God”, and take out other distractions or issues of the flesh. God wants your attention….he loves you! “No other Gods before you!”

    “Be Blessed”……………………………..

  15. This chapter illustrates listening. They refused to hearken unto the Lord’s (Jesus) messengers. One is unwise not too listen and do what sayeth the word of the Lord, or what sayeth the messenger of the Lord; “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. We are responsible to GOD for our choices. We can turn to GOD or to the beggarly elements of the world . We can choose the high road of holiness that leads to heaven rather than the well worn way to hell.
Thank GOD for the power of the cross that brings us back into fellowship with GOD. Thank GOD FOR HIS PRECIOUS
    BLOOD!!!!

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to h, and will sup with him, and he with me.

    Pastor’s Heart

Only a Pastor can understand the pain that is felt when his sheep suffer…

  18. 30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

  19. The voice from within

30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

The Bible tells us that the evidence of being filled with the sprit is speaking in tongues while his spirit gives the utterance. We have within us the spirit of almighty God. When we walk in the spirit we can speak his word with authority, and power. The Lion of the tribe of Judah roars from within.

The enemy hears the roar, and trembles!

  20. “For the past twenty-three years—from the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until now—the Lord has been giving me his messages. I have faithfully passed them on to you, but you have not listened. “Again and again the Lord has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention. Each time the message was this: ‘Turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing. Only then will I let you live in this land that the Lord gave to you and your ancestors forever. (Jeremiah 25:3-5 NLT)

Take heed to what The Lord is saying! With Him we can overcome anything and rejoice in our new land that flows with milk and honey and an abundance of fruit!

    Thank you Jesus!

  21. Servants you cannot ignore.

Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north , saith the LORD , and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon , my servant , and will bring them against this land , and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about , and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment , and an hissing , and perpetual desolations .
    NET
So I, the LORD, affirm that I will send for all the peoples of the north and my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it and make them everlasting ruins. I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.

They rejected Gods word for years. Now God sends them a king to overtake them. They will not be able to ignore Nebuchadnezzar. He is a servant in the fact that he will carry out Gods judgement on the people.

  22. Cup Of Wrath

Because of the people’s waywardness, God holds the cup filled with His fury (like in Isa 51:17;21) and prepares to make the nations drink it. Judah and the surrounding nations will experience God’s wrath as they slip under Babylon’s domination as if in a drunken stupor, as if they have gone mad (Jer 25:16; 51:7). God’s punishment prophesied here is severe. This is no mere slap on the hand or divine spanking. The nations will drink the cup of God’s wrath, become sick, stagger, vomit, and then fall down, never to rise again (vs 27). The nations conquered by the mighty Babylonians are devestated, and destroyed. Many of them never again rise to their former prominence (2 Pe 2:21). Don’t leave your position, get prepared, study to shew thyself approved. Get knowledge and apply (wisdom) the Word take it everywhere you go. His return will be as a thief in the night, and those spiritual battles that rise up aren’t worth your eternal soul. Stop flirting with the cup of wrath, and get to knowing the cup in the Masters’ hand.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matt 5:6).

Obadiah 1:15 “For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.16For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.17But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame..”

  23. 3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

4 And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.

God requires the first fruits of his people. This is why he required them to rise early to hear his voice. When they didn’t rise early they missed out. Everytime I blog first thing in the morning my day is blessed. When I don’t, Well….. When the word of the Lord is the first thing that enters your mind you start off with positiveness and a victorious direction. I pray that we are all drawn to seek him first and reap the rewards of an early start. Amen

  24. Verses 4-5 CEV “The Lord has sent prophets to you time after time, but you refused to listen. They told you that the Lord had said: Change your ways! If you stop doing evil, I will let you stay forever in this land that I gave your ancestors.”

Listen: *to give attention with the ear; attend closely for the purpose of hearing; give ear. *to pay attention; heed; obey.

  25. Reach

4 And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.

The Lord reaches for us faithfully, even from the beginning.

    Psalms 139:13-17
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

Jesus rose up early in each of our lives and reached for us from the beginning, unwilling that any should perish. His love for us raises a standard against the accusations of the enemy and is testified by Calvary. It’s by His love that we are made whole and it’s only by His love that we can reach back to Him. When we feel alone, distant, in a dark place, we can find encouragement in knowing that reaching for God always means *reaching back* in return as He reached for us first.

    1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us.
