Jeremiah 45

1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch:

Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

  1. Jerimiah 45:3
Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord had added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

When we want everything but everything doesnt have Jesus when it should:
There is alot of sorrow when we
    Dont obey
    Dont love others
    Dont listen to godly counsel
    Dont minister to the lost
This is for me to hear today…..

Vs5/and seekest thou great things for thyself? Seek them not for behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all the places whither thou goest.

Amen. I pray I give my self a living sacrifice unto the Lord always. And be guided to Him.

  2. 5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

    THE SPIRIT OF SELFISHNESS

How could this people after all that had happened to them be so selfish. They were seeking great things for themselves.
We need to seek great things for the kingdom of God! Allow the Holy Ghost to bless us and lead us in the ways of God.
Too many times we are so selfish about things and God cannot bless selfishness. We need to have a spirit of giving and doing for others. Many people will help you if it does not cost them anything. It certainly better not put them out any.
This generations thinks the government owes them something. We have missed the words of the late President John F Kennedy, Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what can I do for my Country. We have become a welfare country looking for a hand out. BEING SELFISH!!
Why don’t we ask what can we do for the kingdom of God. It is time we learned to carry our load.
Let’s dump the spirit of selfish attitude and develop the attitude of giving.

  3. 4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

    Job 1:21 KJV
And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord .

  4. In this chapter, Baruch could have spoken life into his situation instead of feeling sorry for himself. Proverbs 18:20-21 MSG “Words satisfy the mind as much as fruit does the stomach; good talk is as gratifying as a good harvest. Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.” Don’t go around crushing your own spirit by speaking negative; speak positive, speak victory in Jesus name. God is in control, he knows when to turn your situation around and change the direction for your good.

  5. 5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
    Jerimiah 45:3
Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord had added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
    SPIRIT OF SELFISHNESS
sometimes we don’t relize what were doing or saying it just keeps going on or we might know what were doing we just don’t care anymore. well I don’t wonna let the devil win cause were does it get us???all it does is bring us down and we wonder why were being dragged down a lot because of our selfishness, our pride lusts and much ,more it discusts me now thinking about what the lord has to see us do but this is why hes giving us chances after chances but im stopping NOW!!!and because of the things he has done for us I will praise and worship and dance for my lord jesus Christ.<3
    I love you daddy
    !!!!!I GOT THE VICTORY!!!!!!!

  6. 4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

I am reminded of an old song that I heard as a child growing up.

    There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
    All is peace forever more,
    On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
    The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

    There’ll be no sorrow there,
    No more burdens to bear,
    No more sickness, no pain,
    No more parting over there;
    And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
    The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

When God says come home, all that have lived the right way and have done the plan of salvation will be there. We must live Holy and acceptable if we want to go.

  7. 4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

The Lord is in control, he was there in the beginning and he will be there in the end.

  8. Focus on the Blessing
5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

When we go into this “oh poor me mentality”; we can’t see pass our nose. Baruch is so full of his sorrow, his worries, his desire for greatness; that he does not even recognize that God is blessing him with LIFE. He gets to stay alive while so many others will be dying by the sword or by the plague, he has been given life. Yes, it will be hard to watch everything around you die, but you get to keep your life, you get to see the power of God in action. Some people are full of themselves to the point that they make the same mistake. I PRAISE MY LORD FOR THE LIFE HE GIVES TO ME EVERYDAY FOR LIFE = HOPE & OPPORTUNITY.

  9. CREATORS RIGHTS

4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

We witness the judgment of our Holy GOD, Everlasting Father. We are reminded in:

1Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

The earth is the LORD’s and the fulness thereof. We are wise to follow HIS statutes, honor HIS WORD and obey HIS commands. Considering the wickedness in the world today, we are wise to witness of HIM while we praise, worship and serve HIM from a heart of gladness. At any moment he could destroy this world and pluck up, everything HE has planted.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  10. iLove to eat the Word

    “Pray or be Prey”

And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

We always have a choice in life. Let’s Pray today so we can have peace for another day! Forget all the drama, let’s turn the curse around and listen to God through the voice of our Pastor.

  12. Selfish people are negative people!

5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

selfish people tend to be negative because they are looking out for themselves and not the well being of others. They tend to over-evaluate situations and look at things negatively instead of being grateful for what is given, what they do have, and for the God that makes it all possible.

As humans we tend to take the attributes of our parents. So, when we live life in a negative way we must really find a place of prayer and kill the tendencies of the flesh. We must allow the Heavenly Father to rule in us again because somewhere we lost him and placed the enemy on the throne. Our Father is a man of peace, sacrifice, and His heart beats for others. Now this is what we must strive to be like.

  13. 3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

    No Pitty Parties Allowed

The King might have had an outcome more like Job’s where everything was returned unto him, multiple times over, but he chose to wallow in his self pitty. We too have the same option day after day, as life comes at us, we can either do as His word says and dwell on the holy things, the good things, and worship Him, or we can try to play the pitty party game and get even more heeped upon us…

  14. 4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

The Lord owns everything and has right over every single thing including all that live in this earth. It tell him why are you trying to seek Grear things, build your name, on something that will be destroyed, a temporal thing…
However he has been spared his life. If this could be the situation in our day time, considering the great rebellion that the world no lives in, we have our lives but it be wise if we willingly loose them for the sake of His Kingdom.

John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

  15. 4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

Ps 24:1 The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein

And again in I Cor 10:26 The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof.

We must keep the knowledge that this world is not our home. We must not allow the things of the earth lure us or tug at us so much that we forget Heaven is our home. Lay up your treasures in Heaven so that will be where your heart is.

  16. 4-5 “But God says, ‘Look around. What I’ve built I’m about to wreck, and what I’ve planted I’m about to rip up. And I’m doing it everywhere—all over the whole earth! So forget about making any big plans for yourself. Things are going to get worse before they get better. But don’t worry. I’ll keep you alive through the whole business.’” MSG

Don’t be selfish and pray all the time give me give me my name is Jimmy. What would it be like if we prayed for each other and lifted each other up instead of wanting all the time. We need to get the mind set what can I do for others instead of holding our hands out. Lord help us (me) to do what you would have us to do and go where you have us to go.

  17. You have said, ‘I am overwhelmed with trouble! Haven’t I had enough pain already? And now the Lord has added more! I am worn out from sighing and can find no rest.’ (Jeremiah 45:3 NLT)

If you can fully TRUST in The Lord, you’ll see that HE Can bring you out of every situation. Sometimes we just want to walk around sucking our thumbs, and take things into our hands,

  18. Jeremiah 45:5
And I’m doing it everywhere– all over the whole earth! So forget about making any big plans for yourself. Things are going to get worse before they get better. But don’t worry. I’ll keep you alive through the whole business. ‘”

All things work together for the good of those who are the called according to Christ Jesus. Even in the mess his will prevails. Ultimately we can trust him no matter what happens in our world.

  19. God is constant and will never turn His back on anyone. He is always there when everyone else has turned their back or left us in the midst of the storm.

Thank you Jesus for always being there for me even on my darkest days!

  20. 4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

  21. MSG – 4-5 “But God says, ‘Look around. What I’ve built I’m about to wreck, and what I’ve planted I’m about to rip up. And I’m doing it everywhere—all over the whole earth! So forget about making any big plans for yourself. Things are going to get worse before they get better. But don’t worry. I’ll keep you alive through the whole business.’”

Disobedience doesn’t just effect the individual who is disobedient, but an entire nation paid for the people disobedience. Likewise in our lives, more people are effected than just one.

  22. 5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

God honored this man. God said that while this were going to fall apart around him we would live. He was going to have a testimony of God’s faithfulness in keeping his word to Baruch. What is he going to do with his testimony? What would you do with yours?

  23. Not Our Own

We shouldn’t take for granted what God has given. So often we seem to forget that it’s the Lord who gives us air, water, the ability to move, etc, basics we need for survival. It can be easy to get a greedy mentality that aspires to take and not keep in perspective Who owns it all. The world is not solely ours for the taking, we are only stewards.

The same warning must be heeded for our lives. Our lives are not our own, yet we often live as if we own it all. That mind, heart, body? It’s not for us to abuse. That potential, that strength, that ability? It’s not to fulfill our own will. When we get our perspective mixed up, our desires will get crossed with God. Seeking Him will help everything else fall in line. When He reigns as Lord in our lives, we can submit in proper stewardship to His will. That means more than just being obedient, it means He takes care of things. As the saying goes, “if it’s God’s will, it’s His bill…”

    Proverbs 3:5-10
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

  24. On top of the heap of judgment, or addition of “sorrow to my pain”, God is slow to anger, and His judgment is finite and is coming quick to the disobedient remnant. Though Jeremiah and Baruch have been taken captive to Egypt as hopeful insurance of life, the remnants manipulation will fail them. The Lord declares that He will bring disaster on all people, but wherever they will go (Jeremiah and Baruch) He will let them escape with their lives. God is fed up with His disobedient children’s games. Even them God says that very few will escape with their lives after fleeing Egypt, and in this discipline “know whose word will stand- mine our theirs” (Jer 44:28).

  25. 2 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch:

3 Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

  26. The Lord is in control, he gives and takes away blessed be the name of the Lord. Almighty and powerful. If grief be added to sorrow hallelujah, give thanks in all things and know That longsuffering is a fruit of the spirit
