Jeremiah 51

1 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the Lord of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of theLord’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

10 The Lord hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the Lord our God.

11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the Lord hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance of his temple.

12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the Lord hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

14 The Lord of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

16 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

17 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

18 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lordof hosts is his name.

20 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

22 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

23 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the Lord.

25 Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the Lord.

27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the Lord shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

33 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

36 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.

39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the Lord.

40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

41 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord.

46 And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the Lord.

49 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

50 Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the Lord afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the Lord’s house.

52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord.

54 A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

55 Because the Lord hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the Lord God of recompences shall surely requite.

57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts.

58 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;

62 Then shalt thou say, O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

63 And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

64 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

  1. They had their last chance

6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of theLord’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

There will be a day when the Lord will get tired of the New Babylon “the world” and do the same thing. There will be a day when our Lord will say enough is enough, you have had your chances trying to heal this world but it is not healed so I will pluck you out and destroy what is left. It is up to us to reach as many people as we can with the Truth. Pluck them out of this Babylon so they may be saved before it is too late. For this Babylon shall also be destroyed. Lord give us the strength to reach out for the lost, let your light shine through us so they may find the way back to you, and let us labor together in one accord for your Kingdom. In Jesus Name I pray AMEN.

  2. iLove to eat the Word

Babylon really upset God with their pride. When Babylon captured Jerusalem, they boasted and bragged and thought they had captured it because of their false gods.

To really understand Jeremiah’s powerful prophecy, we must understand that Babylon was a powerhouse. To compare, it would be like a man of God standing up in the pulpit and boldly declaring that China would be completely destroyed in just one day without nuclear weapons. I think that would be hard to believe today for most people. That was what Jeremiah prophecied against Babylon and it happened! God is far more powerful than men and God lifts up and casts down.

  3. 45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord.

Don’t let this world take you down with it.

There will soon come the day when God has had enough and will call His People home, out of this world of sin. We have to come out from among the world and be separate so that we can be a light to this world and bring as many people with us as we can.

This old world’s not getting better
    Everyday it’s getting worse
    So much fighting and confusion
Going on down here on earth
But I don’t let it bother me
‘Cause I’m not here to stay
I know my Lord is coming soon
    And I’ll be caught away.

I’m gonna be gone (gonna be gone)
In the twinkling of an eye
I’m gonna be gone (gonna be gone)
Won’t have time to say goodbye
I’m gonna be gone (gonna be gone)
It Could be while I’m singin’ this song
I’m gonna be gone, and it won’t be long
I’m gonna be gone (gonna be gone).

  4. 15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

Pastor has been emphasizing stretching recently so this verse really stuck out to me. Our God, The Lord of heaven and earth, stretched out the heaven by his understanding! Wow! Heaven is Gods dwelling place.

    Isaiah 66:1
    Thus saith the Lord,
The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:
where is the house that ye build unto me?
and where is the place of my rest?

God stretched out his dwelling, and he has called us at the POFW to stretch!

    Isaiah 54:2
Enlarge the place of thy tent,
and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations:
    spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

How do we stretch? It said that God stretched the heavens with understanding. Can we get understanding to stretch too?

    Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:
and with all thy getting get understanding.

Understanding is attainable! But the question arises: what are we to understand?

    Job 23:5
I would know the words which he would answer me,
and understand what he would say unto me.

Job said he would like to know what God is speaking to him.

    Proverbs 14:8
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way:
but the folly of fools is deceit.

And likewise in proverbs it reiterates the wisdom in understanding his way, whereas living in deception is foolish. God wants us to seek out his way. we can never understand the entirety of God and his way, that’s way beyond our comprehension, but we can seek to be like him and to continually draw near unto him. As we draw nigh unto God he will draw closer to us. The closer we get to God the more understanding we will get. And with that understanding will come the faith to stretch. 🙂

  5. The spirit of your God

    Jeremiah 51:6
Flee out of the midst of Babylon,
and deliver every man his soul:
    be not cut off in her iniquity;
    for this is the time of the Lord ‘s vengeance;
he will render unto her a recompence.

    Psalms 115:4-8
Their idols are silver and gold,
    the work of men’s hands.
They have mouths, but they speak not:
eyes have they, but they see not:
They have ears, but they hear not:
noses have they, but they smell not:
They have hands, but they handle not:
feet have they, but they walk not:neither speak they through their throat.
    They that make them are like unto them;
so is every one that trusteth in them.

The idolater, and the idol carry the same spirit. Behind the idol lie a demonic host begging to receive worship from those ignorant enough to praise a stump, or rock.

Whatever object we worship will determine who we are. In today’s passage destruction came upon the people, and upon the idols. In God’s eyes they are a convert of their affection. The heart chooses its master. We choose our hearts.

The more time we spend with God doing his works, and reading his words our attitude. Stature. And character will become like his. The same is true of lesser forms of worship.

We will take on the same characteristics of who we praise. Though I could go into the various idols of our age, I’ll say this: if you want to be like Jesus, and do the things he did, live the way he lived, and impact the eternal destiny of those around fall in love with falling out of love with the world, and consume yourself with the things of God! We will become like the spirit of our God. For good or bad we choose who or what will be our God.

We used to sing the song “to be like Jesus”. Today we get to choose to become more like him!

  6. The spoiler

53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord.

Some of us have been divinely called to reek havoc on the devils kingdom. We are called to spoil the interests and strongholds that the enemy has over our city. Just when it looks like all hell has broken loose in the city, that is the time for the soldiers of the Almighty God to put on their boots, mount up with their swords and go to the trenches. It’s time now to spoil.

  7. 5 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the Lord of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

I am not forgotten. God knows my name. This is one of my favorite songs. God knows who you are. If God knows when a sparrow falls. How much more does he know us ,because we were made in his image. We must remember that God sees all things and knows all too. He is a jealous God and loves those who he made.

  8. SEPARATE YOURSELF FROM EVIL

45: My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord.

We witness the love of our Great GOD here in verse 45. In his great mercies he warns all that will listen of his coming judgement and desolation of Babylon. Anyone that wants out must exit before HIS judgement comes on the land.

I hear the same clear call today for anyone and everyone that does not want to perish with this world and live eternally in torment with the devil, must get out of Babylon, Egypt, the World, sin however you choose to relate it, they all lead to destruction.

The Apostle Paul gave us clear counsel in:

2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them , and be ye separate , saith the Lord , and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Choose this day who you will serve. Serve the LORD with gladness.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  9. 15. HE HATH MADE THE EARTH BY HIS POWER, HE HAS ESTABLISHED THE WORD BY HIS WISDOM, AND HATH STRETCHED OUT THE HEAVEN BY HIS UNDERSTANDING.

  10. Are you Ready?

64 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

Are you ready for when America sinks? When the world as we know it is shaken upside down, how will you respond? How will I? Make the most out of everyday. Cherish each second, and do not let an opportunity go to waste. This world we be brought to it’s knees, and the persecution in the first century church will seem light in comparison. Yet, in the darkness of that day, the Jesus shall shine brighter than the sun, and in the midst of affliction the Church shall multiple. We pray for the revival, and a great one is coming. You can’t get the oil without crushing the olive. Are we ready for the revival that is coming? I’m not. There is a lot of work to do.

  11. They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

We must sepetate ourselves from this world and the things of this world or one day we will come into His presence and He will come to visit with us and because of sin we will perish.

  12. 15 The Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens.
16 When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens are filled with water. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.

    God You are so awesome!!

  13. This chapter illustrates might. Babylon’s actions unleashed the Lord’s (Jesus) might; “Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan”. One can clearly see what will unleash the might of the Lord; “Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  14. 45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the Lord.

In the midst of all the destruction God had a word for his people: get yourself untangled from the the world I’m fixing to dedtroy and escape my fierce anger. We must be ready to help each soul that God sends to POFW so they can find their way out.

  15. 33 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.
    Yet a little while…
Tonight after finishing outreach with the youth team I felt God was speaking those words to me… Yet a little while and the harvest SHALL COME!!! Thats not an option that is a promise of God!! Im exited about the harvest God is bringing to the youth ministry!

  16. Victory

    1 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

This world likes to boast about its “goodness and success” but the truth is it’s corruption can never give life everlasting. There’s death saturated through this world, but we know the true Hope.

    Isaiah 25:7-8
7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

    Revelation 20:12-13
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

There is a gathering of the dead as judgment comes. Just as God judged Babylon in today’s chapter, so there is a judgment against this world. Darkness will not stand, the gates of hell will not prevail against the church, the dead without Christ will have their death swallowed up in the victory of the cross. There is victory over this world, and we are positioned to bring in a great harvest as the dead are surrendered. Through Christ, the reign of the enemy is broken, death is conquered, the lifeless can be freed to have life. There’s no stronghold too strong, no devil too big, we’ve got the victory and we are sent to bring it to this city. Our Babylon, Fort Worth, can be swallowed up in victory if we will go…

    Romans 10:14-15
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

  17. 6-8 “Get out of Babylon as fast as you can.
Run for your lives! Save your necks!
Don’t linger and lose your lives to my vengeance on her
as I pay her back for her sins.
Babylon was a fancy gold chalice
    held in my hand,
Filled with the wine of my anger
to make the whole world drunk.
    The nations drank the wine
    and they’ve all gone crazy.
Babylon herself will stagger and crash,
    senseless in a drunken stupor—tragic!
Get anointing balm for her wound.
    Maybe she can be cured.”MSG

And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 KJV
We can’t be in the world and do things of the world and then go to church and expect God to hear us when we praise. God can’t live in our temples if we have sin in our temple. You either serve God or the world which one are you serving?
Reminds me of the song “This world is not my home I’m just passing thru”
This world is not my home I’m just a passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore
Oh Lord you know I have no friend like you
If heaven’s not my home then Lord what will I do
The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore

I want to make heaven my home one day and for us to do that we have to be committed and have a relationship with God.

  18. This is so great, this morning as I was listening to the scriptures while on our way to school Michael made a connection with this and the Sunday School lesson on Sunday. He told me about the tower of Babel. Praise Jesus the scriptures reveal themselves to our children too!

    JESUS!

The Lord will only allow for our disobedience for a while. When the people choose to follow after other gods and go their own way it causes God to become mad. Then Jeremiah, the man of God warned, and there was little to no heed of his words. The Lord promises some mighty hefty things in these scriptures to those who do not place God where he should be in their lives.

We need to examine our lives closely to ensure that we are doing what God would have us to do. Reading is very important to understanding and to keeping a relationship with God. Lord help me everyday to have a deeper desire to read more The Word so that I might hide it in my heart.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee
    Psalm 119:11

  19. 53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord.

Though nations may rise none will stand without God. Fear not man, his armies, or his governments. God is the one who really is on charge.

  20. God knows everything about His children, always. Even when we turn our backs on God He watches over us!!

Thank you Jesus for your protecting hand!!

  21. Jeremiah 51:6 Flee from Babylon! Save yourselves!Don’t get trapped in her punishment! It is the Lord’s time for vengeance;he will repay her in full.

The Lord will repay the world for its sin. Don’t fall pray in the judgement but humble yourself and repent and seek after God, a mighty strong tower of protection. The world will persia with its sin.

Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Just another thought… Babylon the great city got turned into desolate city of nothing. This is God’s judgement against a prideful sinful idolatrous nation. Just a warning to all mankind that any great nation including our own can be reduced to debris… It’s best to humble ourselves, repent and seek God’s face. Things just don’t look so nice now a days. We as thr people of God should intercede for our nation that the Lord hosts will spare us, correct us and save us like His beloved people.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  22. Senseless Devotion

In vs17 Jeremiah blasts the Babylonians’ reliance on their man-made idols. A polytheistic nation, Babylon worshiped their cheif god, Marduk, and other gods including Ishtar (goddess of love and war), Sin (moon god) and Shemesh (sun god). Open courts were the sites of sacrificial ceremonies and the burning of incense. An elaborate temple for MArduk towered on Babylon’s capital, and the people continually prayed and sacrificed to these idol gods for blessing, protection and forgiveness. Yet God says these lifeless images “are worthless, the objects of mockery” (Jer 51:18). Sometimes it’s easy to think that the things and people we see and touch can offer us more than God does. But it’s foolish to devote ourselves to material objects or any path of spirituality beside “the great King above all gods” (Ps 95:3).

  23. Our Inheritance

Jeremiah mentions the “Portion of Jacob” twice in his writing (here and in Jer 10:16). Jacob here is synonymous with Israel. The Hebrew word ‘cheleq’ or portion, means ‘share’ or ‘possession’ and has legal inheritance connotations. God is a possession or inheritance of His people. The Levites have no land inheritance among the tribes of Israel. Instead, Deuteronomy 10:9 says, “The Lord is their inheritance.” The psalmist declares, “You are my portion, O Lord.” (Ps 119:57) and “my portion forever” (Ps 73: 26). As our inheritance, God is our provider and life- source. He adopts us into His kingdom and makes us His royal heirs (Gal 4:7). But God is not just our portion or inheritance, we are also His possession, His inheritance. “For the Lord’s portion is his people”, says Deuteronomy 32:9. The Father appointed His Son Jesus the “the heir of all things” (Heb 1:2)- and in being baptized in the likeness of his burial, this now includes us!

  24. Verse 58 MSG “God-of-the-Angel-Armies speaks: “The city walls of Babylon—those massive walls!—will be flattened. And those city gates—huge gates!—will be set on fire. The harder you work at this empty life, the less you are. Nothing comes of ambition like this but ashes.”” Proverbs 24:5-6 MSG says “It’s better to be wise than strong; intelligence outranks muscle any day. Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel.”

  25. 12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the Lord hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.
