Ezekiel 11

1 Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the Lord’s house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

2 Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:

3 Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.

4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.

5 And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

6 Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.

7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.

8 Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord God.

9 And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.

10 Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

11 This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:

12 And ye shall know that I am the Lord: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.

13 And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord God! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

14 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

15 Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from theLord: unto us is this land given in possession.

16 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.

17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord God.

22 Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

23 And the glory of the Lord went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

24 Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

25 Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that the Lord had shewed me.

the scripture is about how we should walk with the Lord and hear his voice. Romans 10:16&17
but they have not all obeyed the gospel, For Esais saith, Lord, who have believe our report? 17/ so then faith cometh by hearing by the word of God.

I pray Lord that I will always try to obey you stay under the covering of the church cuz we are safe when we’re in the boat if we ever get out of the boat we need to repent and ask God’s forgiveness and he will show us a better way. John chapter 20:22
and when he has said this he breathed on them and said unto them receive ye the Holy Ghost. 23/ who so ever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them, and whosoever sins ye retain, they are retained.

I pray in the scripture that I will feel that the Lord feels. this scripture is the Lord speaks and tells us how to do things.
inverse 20 that they may walk in my statues, and keep my ordinances, and do them: they should and they shall be my people, and I will be there God.
Vs 21/ but as for them whose heart walk eth after the heart of their detestable things

    • Cont 21/ things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the LORD God.
lord I know you gave me the Holy Ghost and I have sinned before and I know you forgive me thank you Jesus you are an awesome God. I look back at my life, and I can say that most of the time of my life its been victorious more than not . thank you God for showing me this scripture I want to be filled obey and knowledge up by your word,Jesus. today is a new day and I will praise your holy name and leave my troubles at the altar of grace. and know that you were with me Lord. you are the Messiah of my life. thank you for changing me Lord. I Love You Jesus now I really know there is a savior. and his name is Jesus.

  2. Softer Hearts!!!

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Life in this world has a way of toughen up our hearts. A lot of the people that come through our doors for first time has gone through so much that they have stony hearts, and have built up wall of protection all around them. This is why it is so important that we pray before services, for this stony heart and walls do not fall easily, and how can they feel the togged in their hearts if they are made of stone? We need to pray that God will change their hearts to flesh so when the word comes they will be contrite in their hearts and spirits and surrender to the Lord. If we can at least penetrate their hearts with the seed, that seed will not go with out fruit, for God will make sure they will continue to encounter His people so they can make it flourish, through the teaching of His Word. When you go into the prayer room prior to service, remember this chapter and what a great surgeon we have for a God that can make a transplant of heart in a twinkle of an eye. Thank you Jesus for your heart of flesh!!!! Thank you Jesus for renewing your Spirit in us. Thank you Jesus for you are the Healer of broken hearts. Thank you Jesus for you will never leave us nor forsake us and ALWAYS make a way of escape.

  3. 17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

It takes a “change of heart” to live for the Lord whole heartedly. We are born of sin, born of carnality. When we come to God, and totally surrender our ways and our desires, He is able to take the stony heart from us and replace it with a heart of flesh that is capable of feeling after Him and His ways. We become sensitive to His voice and His desires and are able to develop that relationship with Him, seeking Him for direction for every aspect of our lives and family.

  4. A willing vessel.

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

What is God looking for? The strongest? The wisest? Or how about the smartest?

We see all these things and think that that must be what God is looking for. What if it was the total opposite? Maybe the weakest? The one who makes mistakes? Or maybe the one who struggled in school? God can use anyone , as long as they are willing to be use by God. A soft heart “of flesh” is what he is looking for. Not one who is hardened and “knows it all.” A heart willing to be changed and seeks for his will in their life.

  5. REPENT OR REBEL

GOD in HIS infinite wisdom and LOVE for humanity has afforded mankind the opportunity to make the choice and choose who we want to serve. Having fully laid out the consequences of REBELLION and SUBMISSION. Multitudes today still foolishly choose to REBEL rather than REPENT.

Too often we see people sacrifice their joy of tomorrow for a pleasure today.

LORD JESUS help us today to hear your voice and REPENT.

    In JESUS name.

    iRepent
    iPriase
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  6. 5 And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

The creator of every fiber of our being, our heart, mind, and soul, knows us inside and out. There is no hiding things from God. We repent of thoughts we have that are contrary to the nature of God because thoughts become words and then action. Be careful little mind what you think.

    Proverbs 23:7a
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:

  7. GOD KNOWS

5 And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

Too many people are deceived into believing that because they are successful at hiding something from man, that GOD cannot see what they are doing nor does he know what they are thinking.

Here is evidence that GOD KNOWS

    NLT
5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon me, and he told me to say, “This is what the Lord says to the people of Israel: I know what you are saying, for I know every thought that comes into your minds.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  8. It’s time to repent and turn to God. When we repent we don’t come back to it again. We should come to God with a sensitive and willing heart to listen to His voice and change.

  9. 19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

    A NEW HEART

There is no way to live for God with an old stony heart. We must have a new heart, the old heart will cause us to believe things that are not true. With a new heart God can give us a new spirit. God cannot put his spirit in that old stony heart.

    Matt 9:17

17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

This verse makes it clear what happens when we put a new spirit (new wine) in old bottles. The old bottles cannot contain the new spirit. The new spirit will cause the old bottles to break and spill the new wine.

This is why we must be born again to have the new spirit put in us!!
Thank God for a new heart! A new way to think and live!!

  10. 5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon me, and he told me to say, “This is what the Lord says to the people of Israel: I know what you are saying, for I know every thought that comes into your minds. (NLT)

    God knows!

  11. 18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

Every time I read verse 19 and 20, I begin to get excited and forget about 18, but that’s where it begins…
Before we can have our hearts renewed, and be changed, we must first go toward God, and put away all the sin, the detestable things that we are partaking in. As we work to get closer to Him, he will help us to clean up our acts, and to walk in His statutes.

Although we are encouraged to “come as we are”, we are not told to stay that way. Paul wrote for us to follow him, as he follows Christ. In order for us to draw near to Christ, we must first lay down our heavy loads, and seek Him. Without repentance we only get an intermittent touch, and we don’t get to enjoy the peace and joy we get from laying down the detestable sin, which seperates us from Christ…

  12. The Caldron and the Flesh

    Ezekiel 11:3
3 Which say, It is not near; let us build houses:this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.

    Ezekiel 11:7
7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron:but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.

The wicked men of the city had a problem. Instead of taking the man of God at his word they began to weigh themselves on their own scales.

    Well I’m not that bad..
I am a child of Abraham
I have been working in the office of a priest
God wouldn’t destroy us. We are too important.

Just as the meat is protected from the fire by the caldron the people thought they were to valuable to God to be destroyed.

Yet God never has responded to an ultimatum.

Cain killed his brother thinking he would have to be accepted by God. The Lord instead raised up another brother Seth to be the heir, and Cain paid for his evil deeds.

It’s a humbling thought when the preacher says God doesn’t need us, but he wants us. Or when they say no one is indispensable.

John the Baptist even told the Jews what God thinks about an “untouchable” attitude.

    Luke 3:8
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father:for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Humility is the key to promotion.

  13. This chapter illustrates loyalty. Their loyalty was to self. One must know ones surroundings; “for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  14. iLove to eat the Word

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

This scripture is definitely talking about getting the Holy Ghost!

  15. 17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.

18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

these verses tell me that God will always have a remnant of people that will serve him and keep his statutes no matter how evil the world is. God says that he will separate them and make them apart of his own special group God always keeps those that want to serve him close to him. God I pray and ask that I would be a part of that group and that my heart and spirit will be tender to you always.

  16. 5 And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

  17. 5 And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh

-sometimes we gotta let lose and put our past and other stuff behind us and fill ourself with the lords spirit thank you jesus for the wonderful things you’ve done for us lord your amazingly awesome and I love you

  18. Intercession

13 And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord God! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?

After preaching the word of the Lord Benaiah died. Ezekiel then falls to his need to intercede for the people. This pricks my heart. I see the impending doom of this world, and I’m not interceding enough. These past few weeks God has convicted me with prayer. While, I would agree I am not praying enough, the conviction is more about the quality of prayer. He challenges me with, “When is the last time you travailed for the lost?” “When I can I pray thought you with groanings that can’t be uttered?”

It is time to really intercede. It is time to take things to a whole new level. Don’t just pray, travail. In the book of Acts, when people got the Holy Ghost, they spoke in tongues and PROPHESIED. I want to see more of that. Why just stop at tongues? I believe God wants to do more. Let’s birth some supernatural things into the world. We will intercede, and we will win in Christ Jesus.

  19. A New Heart

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

God desires for us to not be simply modified but transformed and made new. He offers to give us a new heart, not just softened but completely new. How we think, how we feel, how we are led… He desires to be at the center of it but our natural stone hearts can’t do it. He desires to raise us in life with a heart of flesh, soft and designed to be His temple.

    Romans 5:5
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

    1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

    Matthew 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

From the beginning, God chose to be robed in flesh to be with us. Before He visited at altars of stone but He calls for a heart of flesh as a place to abide.

    John 15:4
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

  20. A new Heart

And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God. (Ezekiel 11:19, 20 NLT)

  21. 19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

The Lord makes all things new. It’s no wonder that the process of a new believer is called being born again. The stony heart dies with the past life and God puts a new heart a heart of flesh, a heart that feels conviction, a heart that is compassionate, a heart that love and is willing to accept correction, direction and care. A heart that God can work with to make something wonderful out of us. Then He puts His Spirit in us a new wine, new spirit..

  22. A Sanctuary

The symbol of God’s presence with His people Israel has been the sanctuary, the temple in Jerusalem. There, between the cherubim on the mercy seat of the ark, God has dwelt with His people (Ex 30:6). The Jews at that time percieved God’s presence with them in a more physical sense than we percieve it today.

Although God had revealed that His presence was unlimited (1Ki 8:27; Ps 139:7-12), the Jews in exile likely found it hard to believe that God was with them in Babylon since they were so distant from the temple in Jerusalem. These words from God through Ezekiel must have been a great comfort to these exiles, who where not only seperated from their homes and families but thought they were also seperated from their God. He consoles them by assuring them that He is still with them -He Himself is now their sanctuary, their place of refuge, their home away from home.

  23. The captions for this chapter in the MSG say “A New Heart and a New Spirit”, and the CEV says “A Promise of Hope”. The Lord knows all things and he gives us the opportunity to repent as verses 19-20 NLT say “And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.
