Ezekiel 20

1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the Lord, and sat before me.

2 Then came the word of the Lord unto me, saying,

3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.

4 Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

5 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the Lord your God;

6 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am theLord that sanctify them.

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

19 I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.

25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the Lord.

27 Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

28 For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

29 Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name whereof is called Bamah unto this day.

30 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

31 For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.

32 And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

33 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.

37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.

40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

42 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

43 And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

44 And ye shall know that I am the Lord when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

45 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

46 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of theLord; Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

48 And all flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

49 Then said I, Ah Lord God! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?

  1. REBELLION = ‘s death

“Then I warned their children not to follow in their parents’ footsteps, defiling themselves with their idols. ‘I am the Lord your God,’ I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations, and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the Lord your God.’ “But their children, too, rebelled against me. They refused to keep my decrees and follow my regulations, even though obedience would have given them life. And they also violated my Sabbath days. So again I threatened to pour out my fury on them in the wilderness. (Ezekiel 20:18-21 NLT)
As we all know obedience to the word of God, obedience to pastor, obedience to those who have authority over me(us) brings life and a covering. As for me I want to live, and have that covering over my life!!

  2. 33 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.

37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

    OUR COVENANT WITH GOD

This tells us how God wants us to be obedient to his word and his command. He wants to bring us into the bond of his covenant.

    bond
    1 [bond]
    noun
    1.
something that binds, fastens, confines, or holds together.
    2.
a cord, rope, band, or ligament.
    3.
something that binds a person or persons to a certain circumstance or line of behavior: the bond of matrimony.
    4.
something, as an agreement or friendship, that unites individuals or peoples into a group; covenant: the bond between nations.
    5.
binding security; firm assurance: My word is my bond.

God wants us to feel we are obligated to this covenant. The children of Israeli at this time were not bound to God, they were full of rebellion and worshiped other God’s. Ezekiel was prophesying to them that after all God had did for them he wanted them to live for him according to his covenant.
Many people want to live for God with what is convenient for them, but if we live for God we must obey his covenant. Our ways and his ways are not the same!! We must transform ourselves to match his ways. God will not change for anyone including you and I.

Let’s check our COVENANT WITH GOD.

  3. No more chances

Israel been sinning against God since before He took them out of Egypt; but for His name sake He did not destroy them. He didn’t want others to think that Israel’s God will do harm against them, but Israel continue to sin against God, time and time again. For that reason, God did not allowed them to come into the promise land and they had to walk the desert for 40 years. He had put all his confidence and love in Israel, once they crossed to the promised land He reminded them that disobedience will kill them but obedience of His Law will give them life. Israel still continue to sin. I think God in this chapter is telling Ezekiel that He is at His wits end. So, He asks Ezekiel to go ahead and judge them, for He is not going to give them any more messages, if they did not willingly listen since before He brought them out of Egypt what makes you think they will listen now. In His eyes Israel doesn’t even deserve to inquire of Him, if as soon as He gets them out of trouble they are going to go back like a dog to his own vomit all over again. We need to heed the warnings of our God. Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

  4. We must tear down the high places in our lives and destroy the idols that keep us from God. He is a merciful God, but his day of judgment is coming.

  5. ILove to eat the Word

I’ve never seen it before this day, but now I know that God is not an Alabama fan

29 Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name whereof is called Bamah unto this day.

(Note: this is just a play on words, not a doctrine. now laugh…haha…)

    • People don’t believe me when I tell them Bama is in the Bible – I have to show them this scripture to ‘prove’ it.

  6. The caption for this chapter in the MSG says “Get Rid of All the Things You’ve Become Addicted To”. If there are things in our lives that we are just not willing to give up, that we know are not of God,…..then “yes” that is rebellion. Many do not want to admit it and say that they can do both; but, you can’t. Sooner or later that “little sin” will tear you further and further away from God; until, your in the desert (dried and withered). God is still giving us the opportunity to repent and come into covenant with him. Thank you Lord for your mercy and grace.

  7. Undeserved Blessing

    Ezekiel 20:22
Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

    AMP Ezekiel 20:22
Yet I withheld My hand and acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be debased and profaned in the sight of the [heathen] nations, in whose sight I had brought them forth [from bondage].

The blessing of God does not denote the approval of God. Many times we will see people receive a very nice sized monetary compensation yet have been living like the world behind the scenes.

When this happens they are in the worst type of position.

Paul dealt with someone who was trying to pervert the gospel. He took his hands off of them.

    1 Timothy 1:20
Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

They were delivered up to the Will and power of the devil that they would learn not to blaspheme. These were in deception so Paul did the only thing he could do. Onlookers would have seen two prominent men in prominent positions of influence, leadership, and authority. Yet this did not indicate the favour of God on them.

In the wilderness the blessing of God came only as a result of The Lord name sake, or reputation. Yet the people were marked, and falling like flies.

What then is a sign of living right, or having the favour of God?

    Proverbs 3:1-4
    Chapter 3
    My son, forget not my law;
but let thine heart keep my commandments:
For length of days, and long life,
and peace, shall they add to thee.
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:
    bind them about thy neck;
write them upon the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding
in the sight of God and man.

Wealth, material, position, and prestige do not indicate acceptance of God, or favour of God. Instead of this it is doing the will of God.

    Matthew 12:49-50
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

  8. 3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.

31 For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.

They committed all these abominations and then expected to question God? God will not be questioned by such as these. Yes we can ask God questions, but we must come before him humbly, with a clean heart and the right attitude and motives.

  9. 20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

    Church.

Why do we think God created the sabbath? Yes it is a day of rest. It is also a day to commune with His creation. One of the biggest things to bring people together is food. In the New Testiment I says that the disciples went house to house breaking bread as they went.
Now God wants us to come to His house and eat spiritual food.
On Sundays it is a tradition in some families to eat after Sunday morning service. The same applies to God and His children. He invites us to His house every sabbath to sup with Him. He feeds us. Keep the sabbath.

  10. 20:1-44. Ezekiel gives here a view of the history of Israel. It is in two parts: her rebellious past (vv.1-31) and her glorious future ( vv.32:44). The first part surveys all that the Lord had done for the nation, and the nation’s sorely inadequate response. So wicked had the Israelites become that God gave them over to their own evil practices in the hope that a sense of horror at their own deeds would shock them into repentance ( vv.25,26;cf.Acts 7:42,43; Ro m. 1:24,25). The mood changes dramatically at verse 33 where, in a series of the words I will, the Lord promises what He will accomplish on behalf of His people. The final verse summarizes the spiritual changes that will transpire: Ye shall know that Iam the
Lord (v.44). This can be fulfilled only in the Millennium, when such spiritual transformations are wrought.

  11. A WORD FROM THE LORD

A sad and dreadful day when the LORD rejects a voice. Eventually people that have once heard and known the voice and WORD of GOD will turn to HIM. Unfortunately for this group, GOD was finished and time for judgement arrived.

    NLT
1 On August 14,[a] during the seventh year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity, some of the leaders of Israel came to request a message from the Lord. They sat down in front of me to wait for his reply.
2 Then this message came to me from the Lord:
3 “Son of man, tell the leaders of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: How dare you come to ask me for a message? As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I will tell you nothing!’

Verse 4 is a dreadful day for any Man of GOD:
4 “Son of man, bring charges against them and condemn them. Make them realize how detestable the sins of their ancestors really were.

It is obvious that this statue is in the mind and plan of GOD.

    MSG
Hebrews 13:17 Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel. They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God. Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?

iPray we all seek to know the LORD and to do HIS will and follow HIS statutes and laws for the GLORY of HIS Kingdom and not to bring shame upon HIM.

    iRepent
    iPraise

  12. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.

37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

In the wilderness is where we meet him, where he corrects us and where we establish a new covenant with him. Here rebellion took them to the wilderness, and it always will. And when we are lost in the wildness because we have drifted from the path God had us on he will show up in the midst of our trouble. Thank you Jesus for never leaving or forsaking us

  13. SANTO SANTO SANTO!!!
27 Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass

Were they that numb or blind that they knew not how that they had blasphemed and certainly trespassed!?!
DISOBEDIENCE!!! HOW LONG DO WE WAIT TO RECOGNIZE THAT WE HAVE TRESPASSED AGAINST GOD!!! STILL WAITING FROM A WORD??? JESUS!!! SANTO SANTO SANTO!!!

  14. 12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am theLord that sanctify them.

God separated days for his people as a sign. As time went on and Israel fell more deeply into sin I’m sure the sabbath became just another day. Evenif the separated it and did certain things according to it, they did not keep it holy. Their idols took over. It seems that keeping a day and a people separated and holy was just not working! In Gods infinite wisdom He knew that we would need a different way to separate ourselves from the world. So He wrapped Himself up in flesh, died, rose again, ascended, and poured out His Spirit into our lives. Sanctifying His people. The Holy Spirit draws us closer to God and farther from the world.

  15. GOD DEFINES REBELLION

21 “‘But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws, of which I said, “The person who obeys them will live by them,”

Failure to follow decrees and keep laws. Is how GOD defines REBELLION.

    1Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

    13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

GOD’s will comes through GOD’s man and voice to HIS generation. Let us be prayerful and follow decrees that are biblically founded and man decreed that we will LIVE in HIM.

    iPray

  16. we must not worship something that’s not even worth it
anything we put before our god is an idol anything we want with all our heart is an idol and anything we cant stop thinking of is an idol and anything that we give all our love is an idol cause we can sing all we want to and still get it wrong but worship is more than a song<3
    I LOVE YOU DADDY:)
your worthy and we thank you sincerely you deserve my all attention but while were not listening to you we watch our family or friends slip away the only way that well stand is on over knees and lifted hands
WE WERE MADE TO BE CORAGOUSE
lord I believe I have faith lord and as long as im standing lord nothing or no one will come between me and you lord ill praise and worship you till the day I run out of breath you did so much for us I wonna return the favor in love faith obedience and your beutifull mercy your out pouring love jesus I love you and thank you

  17. 7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Numerous times in this chapter the words “abominations of his eyes” is mentioned. What we allow through the eyes so effects our ability to walk in the statues and commandments of the Lord. We must guard what we see. Once it has entered into the eyes, it becomes part of our memories, and forever plays a part of our decisions and our thought patterns. What we deem as mindless, can forever harm us, and cause us like the children of Israel to wander in the wilderness for 40 years, because we miss the spiritual side of life because we are so caught up in pleasing our flesh. They wouldn’t “walk” after the commandments and statues of the Lord because of the idols that they took up, and it caused them to “walk” in the wilderness, a deserted place, a place of death for 40 years. Lord help us to walk after You and Your ways, and guard what we see that could totally effect our eternity.

“Oh be careful little eyes what you see, for the Father up above is looking down in love, oh be careful little eyes what you see!”

  18. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.
14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

All because He was unwilling to comprimise His name, He refused to destroy Israel. Because of His promises to Abraham, Issiac, and Jacob, God did not obliderate his people.

I wonder how many of us comprimise our name, refusing to stand by our word, because we get mad, or anxious about something else…..

  19. 35 I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and there I will judge you face to face.
36 I will judge you there just as I did your ancestors in the wilderness after bringing them out of Egypt, says the Sovereign Lord.
37 I will examine you carefully and hold you to the terms of the covenant.
38 I will purge you of all those who rebel and revolt against me. I will bring them out of the countries where they are in exile, but they will never enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. (NLT)

Sometimes God has to pull us aside like a parent would a child that is acting up. Instead of pulling you by your arm, He’ll pull at your heart and mind to get your attention. Then pull you to the side and maybe ask “What were you thinking? I gave you a choice but did you really just do that?” God will convict your heart when you rebel against Him and disobey His commands. He will get your attention and like any father discipline and correct you so that you know again that we are His child who is to obey our Heavenly Father.

  20. God Only Had Their Best Interest At Heart.
God brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt (the land of bondage) and wanted to take them to a land flowing with milk and honey. All he asked them to do was keep his statutes and judgments and keep the Sabbath day Holy, and they should live. Instead they rebelled against God and worshipped idols.

God Only Has Our Best Interest At Heart.
God wants to deliver man out of the bondage of sin today, and one day take us to a Heavenly place. So, he robed himself in flesh (Jesus) and came and died on the Cross for us. All he asks of us is to keep his commandments, and we shall live. Still, people rebel against God and worship other things.

2 John 5:3 says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

What are the commanments of God?
St. Mark 12:29, “And Jesus answered him, the first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:”
St. Mark 12:30, “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strenghth: this is the first comandment.”
St. Mark 12:31, “And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

I want to obey God’s commandments and live.

  21. When the Israelites entered the promised land, God told them they were to worship Him in a centralized location He would designate (Dt 12:5). They were also to destroy the “high places” of worship the inhabitants of the land they were to conquer built. Instead, the Israelites quickly became enamored with the pagan places of worship. Pagan gods were worshiped in high, exposed places in the land, ostensibly so that their false god could ‘see’ the people’s worship and respond. The Canaanite god baal was worshiped in these high places. Primarily marked by fertility rites, sexual acts with priests and priestesses. The prophets, including Ezekiel, used the imagery of prostitution when discribing -in surprisingly graphic terms- Israel’s unfaithfulness to God (Jer 2:20; 13:27; Eze 16:16; Hos 4:13).

When God’s people start from scratch they seem to have trouble, like all humans. After the flood, Nimrod pioneered the tower of Babel, though unsuccessful he attempted to worship self. He was trying to get up to a high enough level God couldn’t touch him. Wickedness will birth ignorance. Though temptation to please self is inevitable, like Jesus, we must stand on His Word. We must meditate on the Word of God and weither our actions will line up or veer from Him. God is the only Spirit that is ominpresent, He sees us prasing Him at church, home and work. Why would you worship a god that cannot see you unless your in a high place. A counterfeit will always try to mimmic the real. Satan will always try to disguise himself as God. Since he’s a fallen angel, he may be quick, but he cannot be everywhere at once, he would need to have a designated place of pagan worship to find them. Just because something has worked in the past doesn’t mean it will continue to, Jesus is coming to pull the plug.

  22. I will purge out the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against me. I will bring them out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 20:38 ESV)

    The purge.

Those who are rebellious and do not repent of their ways will be purged from the righteous in the day of judgement. We need to intercede for these rebellious people. Both of whom are in the church and in the world.

  23. This chapter illustrates remembrance. They were too be reminded where the Lord (Jesus) had brought them from. One must never forget where the Lord has brought one from, or where ones decisions could take one. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  24. 3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.
4 Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

Why do the elders who serve their idols now come for a word from God? Can’t they see their idols are no help? So now they expect God to pay attention to their needs but God says no way. And rightly so. God tells them over & over that if they obey his ways that He would be there for them.
12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am theLord that sanctify them. So-Obey & Live!

  25. 40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

Sounds like the time of harvest and the separation of gathering thr wheat.. But who shall ascend the holy hill?

Psalm 24:3-6 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord?or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

  26. 8 But they rebelled against Me and would not listen to Me; they did not every man cast away the abominable things on which they feasted their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I [thought], I will pour out My wrath upon them and finish My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. AMP

What idols are you hiding in your house today? We/I can make idols out of facebook, iPhone, etc……Be careful that you don’t put things above God. Our God is a jealous God. For you shall worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God Exodus 34:14 KJV

God help us to not to have idols, we should all pray God show us what is in our lives that shouldn’t be and be opened to receive God’s word.

  27. 6 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

  28. In this chapter GOD is anrgy because of the false gods and idols they are serving. The Isrealites seem to forget the God that brought them out of the wilderness and into his marvelous light. How can we forget how creator? The one and only true God!!

  29. Face To Face

Seeing the Lord face to face means facing the living Word. Our lives will be revealed for good or evil. That is why there is such importance in passing first by the brazen altar on our way to the holy of holies. It all starts with death to the flesh. Death to self means we can be purged and we can be brought into covenant. If we won’t deny ourselves, how can we be purged of evil, and how could we know the Lord? God will speak and guide us if we let Him, but it starts with us getting ourselves out of the way first.

    Matthew 16:24-26
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

  30. Rejected

3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.

Have you ever felt rejected? These people were rejected by God! These men were revered by their own people. They were looked up to and people wanted to please them, but God did not care. They rejected God and would not listen to Him so he said he would not listen to the elders. If you ever really want to feel rejection, reject God and see what happens. I am thankful that Jesus/God, even though he was rejected in flesh, and before flesh, is the chief cornerstone in my life!

    Mark 12:10
And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
    Luke 20:17
And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

  31. 27. Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Is’- ra -el, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathershave blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me. 28. For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, the they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provacation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings. 29. Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Ba’-mah unto this day. 30. Wherefore say unto the house of Is’-ra-el, Thus saith the Lord GOd; Are ye pollutedafter the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations? I would say He was a just God He gave them chances to totally Repent and they kept rebelling in the wilderness and there children followed them and Rebelled against GODc too. I wouldn’t wanted to be in there shoes.

  32. I said to their children in the desert, “Don’t live by the rules of your parents, or obey their laws. Don’t make yourselves unclean with their idols. I am the Lord your God. Live by my rules, obey my laws, and follow them. (Ezekiel 20:18, 19 NCV)

As parents we have a great responsibility to teach our children the ways of the Lord.

  33. There’s no need to prove that God loves us because we all know it. Even God has to turn away from pain. When we continually hurt Him He’s not going to offer us any more chances. It’s time to wake up and live as if He were coming tomorrow!

  34. 12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am theLord that sanctify them.

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

When is it ok for us to make the judgement that what we do is enough for God? Ppl become so enwrapped in routine and become lazy… If we are not abiding by His word and pushing ourselves up whose to say we are not pushing ourselves down? His fury will poured out…

  35. 7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

As children of God, we must be careful not to create idols for ourselves. Anything we put before God is our idol. God must be first in our lives. When we learn to put God first, everything else will fall in line. It may not always be a smooth road, but with God leading you know you’re headed towards victory.
