Ezekiel 28

1 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

6 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.

8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.

10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.

11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

20 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

21 Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it,

22 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

23 For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

24 And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord God.

25 Thus saith the Lord God; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.

26 And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.

  1. Verses 2-5 CEV “Ezekiel, son of man, tell the king of Tyre that I am saying: You are so arrogant that you think you’re a god and that the city of Tyre is your throne. You may claim to be a god, though you’re nothing but a mere human. You think you’re wiser than Daniel[b] and know everything.
Your wisdom has certainly made you rich, because you have storehouses filled with gold and silver. You’re a clever businessman and are extremely wealthy, but your wealth has led to arrogance!”

We cannot allow ourselves to think that “we are all that and a bag of chips” as they say; but, rather remember James 4:4-10 MSG “You’re cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.” And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you’ll find. It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.” So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”

  2. 2. Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

    5. By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

    6. Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

    17. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

We get into trouble when we lift our own hearts with pride instead of lifting up praise and worship unto the only one, true God and praying for a heart that will please Him.

  3. Pride will turn you into satan.

This king thought he was so perfect, he thought himself to be god, and by doing that he became a type of devil. Be very careful with pride, you may boast to the point that you fall from His Grace.

The Lord is bringing Israel back and judging those who harm them or did ill to them in anyway. So very thankful for a Pastor that has us pray for Israel Peace and well being everyday. By doing so you keep yourself blessed.

    • 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  4. Iniquity

    Ezekiel 28:15
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

    2 Thessalonians 2:7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

    Titus 2:14
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

    Isaiah 53:6
    All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Iniquity is lawlessness. It is the first sin ever committed. However lawlessness is the result of iniquity. The verb iniquity is simply self-will.

Jesus showed us what a life opposite of iniquity was when he cried “not my will but thine be done”

Iniquity isn’t just self-will, but rather it is placing ourselves in the seat of God. When we have control over our own lives. Lucifer decided he was going to do his own thing, and not what God had set him to do, and as a result he fell.

On the great day of judgement we will be judged by one single thing.

Did we serve, or did we work iniquity?

God gave us a free will, but only through surrendering that will are we truly free. Pastor taught us except a corn of wheat fall to the ground and die it abideth alone.

Iniquity says “I will” do this, and “I will” do that.

We need to live a life that says “If God will”

“Based on the teaching of Jesus and other passages of Scripture, iniquity is doing our own will instead of God’s will, even if our own will appears to be “doing good.””

This is a very good article on iniquity.

  5. We should give God all the glory for everything we have and not take it for ourselves thinking that we are something when we are not.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

  6. 4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

    Manage your blessings…
Wisdom a beauty sounds like a good combination to be puffed up with. People in the world may say you have it all but do you really? We should know that everything we have is because the Lord is good makes us stewards over it. What will you do with your wisdom? Where will your beauty take you? On a road of succes one should be careful when looking at oneself and know that all we are is just really reflecting who He, the Lord, is. Our lives, and souls are His. We are to praise the Beauty of His Holiness. Humbly manage your blessings and gifts wisely. They are for the Lord’s honor and glory.

  7. 3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:
4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

    Using the good for bad.

Wow. To be told that you are wiser than Daniel. Daniel knew how to get ahold of God. Yet, when they used that wisdom for their own benefit , they started to waver from God. God created the simple to confound the wise. Wisdom is a great tool to have. But many people misuse it when they have it. My prayer is to use what He gave me for the glory of God.

  8. PRIDES REWARD IS DESTRUCTION

    6 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

A great concern of every believer should be that of PRIDE. Success and failure alike breed PRIDE. In failure PRIDE resists assistance through correction, instruction or support. In success PRIDE is simply misdirected praise; taking all the credit for success and then believing it.

We find here in chapter 28 the comparison of Tyre to that of lucifer. This teaches us that anytime we allow the spirit of PRIDE to rule in our lives we operate under the influence and direction of satan the fallen cherubim.

    Evidence is found here in:
Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

In summary the man of GOD is speaking to the spirit of PRIDE that is driving the King. In verse 2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, we find the evidence that The LORD is speaking to the spirit of satan, the prince of Tyrus, would be the prince of the power of the air. Paul addressed in:

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

We must allow the man of GOD in our lives to speak to the spirit of PRIDE that is leading us to destruction so that we can be delivered from the pending destruction to all that go that way.

    Solomon concluded:
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Choose today to humble yourself in the sight of the LORD so that HE does not have to bring us down.

Thank you JESUS for your word today!

  9. “Son of man, give the prince of Tyre this message from the Sovereign Lord : “In your great pride you claim, ‘I am a god! I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’ But you are only a man and not a god, though you boast that you are a god. You will die like an outcast at the hands of foreigners. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!” (Ezekiel 28:2, 10 NLT)
Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. (Psalms 26:2 KJV)

  10. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

I can’t imagine what it was like to have the opportunity in the heavens to be by the side of our Lord, and then to allow inquiry to build up in the heart, and to be cast out of His presence forever.

We as children of the living God take His presence so much for granted. We have that relationship that we can talk to Him at any moment and feel His presence. Yet sin abounds everywhere, and deception and destruction can come to any man at any time lest we guard our hearts so that we don’t find ourselves in the same state that we find in this chapter. The chosen cherub, created for praise and worship to reflect the glory of God, allowed pride to rise up in his heart and lost his place in the kingdom.

I can’t lose my place!!!! I have come to far and been in the church for too long to allow things of this world (attitudes, temporal things) to take His place on the throne of my heart.

  11. 2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

God starts out speaking to the physical king of tyrus, the man, then speaks to the spiritual king.
Satan is the ruler of this world. Don’t be deceived, we either serve God or we serve the devil. There is no other option, choose wisely.
    Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

  12. Vs.9, “Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.”

To think that a person thinks of himself so highly that he considers himself to be great as God. How scary! We are nothing but flesh and blood the dust of the earth. There is only One God and beside him there is no other. So don’t think of yourself more highly than you ought to think because God will bring you down. We need to thank God everyday for his blessings in our life, and we need to be good stewards over all he has blessed us with.

  13. The Mind of Christ

THE WORD of the Lord came again to me, saying, (Ezekiel 28:1 AMP)

Ezekiel had a beautiful relationship with God. And it’s very inspiring to know that we have the same opportunity to have such an intimate relationship with Him today. And it’s only by His spirit, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has been given to us for salvation, comfort and Divine inspiration. It allows us to understand spiritual things and gives us the mind of Christ.

Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]. (Romans 8:6 AMP)

And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. (1 Corinthians 2:12, 13 NLT)

For, “Who can know the Lord ’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16 NLT)

When we have the Holy Spirit we speak and act like Christ. Got the Mind of Christ? Acts 2:38 & 39; John 1:1-6

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:3-11 NLT)

  14. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

Thank God for grace, thank God for mercy, thank God because he understands we are sinners in need of forgiveness.

  15. This chapter illustrates pride. Self-importance consumed. One must never forget there is but one God (Jesus), which has created all, is in control of all, and is needed by all; “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  16. iLove to eat the Word

“Those who are anointed and covered”

(Ezekiel 28:17 KJV) Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

It is absolutely amazing to be in a place of submission and covering. There is an anointing that comes and a brightness that’s reflected simply because we were “in our place.” We must always remain humble and we must always reject pride. We are not exempt from the temptation that the devil fell into. Notice that the word says, “15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

This means we can do everything right and at the end mess up. This is what many Pentecostal churches (that started in Fort Worth) have done. They started a good work then pride crept in and the church was brought down. I PRAY and believe that our church will remain humble.

Prayer is the key that unlocks humility. When we stop praying, pride crepes in… Let’s PRAY!

  17. Jesus Christ, the anointed Cherub

Lucifer was the leader of the worship and fell. Then man was created to take his place. Man fell. Thus, we have the plan of redemption that makes it where we can once again be vessels of worship, furthermore vessels of in-corruption for all eternity.

Today, while I was vacuuming, I started to think, Jesus is the replacement. He is the anointed cherub of worship, and we, through His Spirit, are extensions of this. No man ever worshiped God more than Christ. Christ was the ultimate example of one without iniquity.

We can never really worship God the way he deserves on this Earth. The closest we can get to that is through the Holy Spirit, but one day it will be ever greater. That is why we will be reborn and MADE LIKE HIM (JESUS).

John 4:24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

I John 4:17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world

  18. 26 And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.

  19. 25 Thus saith the Lord God; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.

26 And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.

And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; -Deuteronomy 6:10-11

God desires to bless his people. If we will hear his voice and draw close to him he will bless us with life.

  20. Too many times we take for granted the wonderful works He does for us. It would be in our best interest to learn how to be find thanks in everything.
Lord thank you for your undying love and never ending grace!

  21. although people tell us something and we get affended by it we carry with us every were we go no able to trust anyone and we put our selfs down but god does say hes a jelous god and that he loves more than anything in the world we take god for granted every thing he does for us we push it aside and do nothing about the struggles and thins we have problems with but we gotta relize that even though we do wrong we have to repent and go gods way if were whilling he judges by what we do and what we say and it might not matter to us but it matters to him and those around us…we gotta be the light not the victum we gotta fight and not be lazy and we gotta reach out to those in need not ignore it cause not only are we hurting god and ourselves but our family that we wont to come to Christ..if we really wont our family and friends with god we would do all we can to fight for there lifes and those in need and pain and in suffering cause there wondering too if anyone notices and our lack of everything can effect not only us both those around us to..god gave us power and strength to fight of the devil don’t let him steal your joy cause the devils under our feet

  22. The heart of a rich man

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: 3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: 4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: 5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

Maybe this is the reason we don’t have more rich people in the world. God knows the heart of all men. He knows that when some people have wealth they believe they achieved their wealth on their own and they make themselves god-like. Instead of having so many people fall like Lucifer, maybe we just don’t get rich until we fully know that Jesus is Lord and God. Many times people love money more than God and fellow man.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10 KJV)

We must continue to keep God first as we work in this world. We know that we must have money because it answers everything.

A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things. (Ecclesiastes 10:19 KJV)

We must have a pure heart toward God and the things of this world. As we seek Him more, we know that we will become more trustworthy and we will be closr to becoming a rich man. (When your rich don’t forget about you’d tith, offering and IFT commitment. )

  23. Not There Yet…

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

AMP 16 Through the abundance of your commerce you were filled with lawlessness and violence, and you sinned; therefore I cast you out as a profane thing from the mountain of God and the guardian cherub drove you out from the midst of the stones of fire.

Not everyone can stand to be blessed. We put ourselves in a dangerous position when we equate blessing with God’s approval and/or something we earn. Yet human reasoning makes it so tempting to draw those conclusions when we find ourselves in the position of being blessed. If we give in to that thinking, we can quickly slip in “auto pilot” where we stop being careful about walking pleasing to God and stop putting in the sort of effort we should in our walk with God and in exercising our faith unto good works. This side of heaven, we can never say we have “arrived.”

The moment we feel like we “have this God thing figured out” is the moment we should get a holy fearfulness for our place in Him. There’s always more of Him to get, and more of us to lose. It’s good to celebrate victories, but anything short of heaven is only a dot on the map, not a destination.

    Philippians 3:13-14
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

    Revelation 2:4-5
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

  24. 16. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned

; therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God; and I will destroy thee, O covering cher’-ub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. 18. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 19. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be anymore.

  25. The king of Tyre proclaims himself a god (vs2,6). Pagan cultures had a variety of gods of greater and lesser assumed powers, and the king of Tyre arrogantly places himself this divine company. For this arrogance, God will judge him. While he’s declaring his divinity, “foreigners” (vs10) will kill him, and “he will die the death of the uncircumcised” (vs10). Pheonicians (inhabitants of the region which included Tyre) practiced circumcision, and to die “the death of the uncircumcised” was considered shmeful and dishonorable.

  26. 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Too often positions and titles get in the way of ministers growing in the kingdom fogging and manipulating there mindset on what’s truly important. We are not here for titles, we are here to reach the lost. We can’t allow our fulfillments to reflect our own glory but His. Without Him we are nothing.
