Ezekiel 29

1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the twelfth day of the month, the word of the Lordcame unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against all Egypt:

3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.

4 But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales.

5 And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven.

6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the Lord, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

7 When they took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins to be at a stand.

8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.

9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the Lord: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it.

10 Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia.

11 No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.

12 And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

13 Yet thus saith the Lord God; At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:

14 And I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they shall be there a base kingdom.

15 It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

16 And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord God.

17 And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

18 Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service that he had served against it:

19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.

20 I have given him the land of Egypt for his labour wherewith he served against it, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord God.

21 In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  2. Be very careful what you call yours

3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.

EVERYTHING in this Earth belongs to GOD.
Psalm 24:1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
1 Cor. 10:26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.
Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Ecclesiastes 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

What do all this scriptures have in common? They establish God as The Creator and Proprietorship of the Earth and everything in it and the Heavens. Therefore, when you call something yours, you are suing God for property rights. You are going against Him. Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Any action we take in contradiction of the word of God set us against Him, and by that alone it turns us into a scatterer instead of a gatherer. The moment we step out and try to call something ours, when we wouldn’t have anything without God; we are turning against Him, we become His enemy, and just like satan pride will creep in, and destroy our praise; for we begin to praise and worship those things we called ours. We will turn into idolatry.

You may ask yourself, but I made that dress… you made it but God created the materials that made the cloth, that made your dress. Or I bought that car, but God put the iron on the Earth that made the steel to manufacture the car, bless you with the talent, that got the job, that helps you pay for that car. In the same way, EVERYTHING we see on this Earth you can trace back to the only PROPRIETORSHIP GOD!!!!

TODAY, a day of Thanksgiving, a day created by HIM, lets lift Him up above everything and anyone else. Lets thank Him for His many Blessings that He bestows on us. From the moment we take the first breath, to the moment we lay to rest. It is ALL His doing. THANK YOU JESUS FOR ALL AND FOR ALL YOU DO. I AM SO BLESS, MY SOUL HAS FOUND REST. OH I GIVE YOU THANKS.

  3. Verse 16 AMP “And never again shall Egypt have the confidence and be the reliance of the house of Israel; their iniquity will be brought to remembrance whenever [Israel] looks toward them [for help]. They shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord God [Who demands loyalty and obedient service].”

Verse 21 AMP “In that day will I cause a horn to spring forth to the house of Israel and I will open your lips among them, and they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord [the Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service].”

Many do not like to remember their past; but, it does serve as a reminder of where our Mighty God has brought us from. We must never allow things of this world to become “ours”……for in an instant the Lord can and will remove anything/anyone who you are claiming to be the reason you are not closer to Him. The Lord God demands loyalty and obedient service as the above scriptures show. Thank you Lord for being my everything.

  4. God will always judge unrighteous nations. Judgment is coming to societies that forget who God is. Our schools teach unholy doctrines contrary to the Word of God. Creation is not considered as even a theory let alone fact. This world will be judged for its lack of reverence for the one true God, Jesus.

  5. 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.

I plan to bring a sword (a short one) upon a turkey later on today and cut off a slice out of it…I pray that every one of you have a blessed day, I am thankful for all of you!

  6. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE
Thank you for your prayers! I feel much better today.

6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the Lord, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

    GOD REVEALS HIMSELF

All the inhabitants of Egypt, I like this: God wants everyone to know that he is the LORD. God will not tolerate anyone mistreating his people.

God will fight our battles for us. We must allow him to be:
    THE LORD OF OUR LIFE.

  7. It’s Mine! I did it! It’s All Mine !

Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord : “I am your enemy, O Pharaoh, king of Egypt— you great monster, lurking in the streams of the Nile. For you have said, ‘The Nile River is mine; I made it for myself.’ I will put hooks in your jaws and drag you out on the land with fish sticking to your scales. I will leave you and all your fish stranded in the wilderness to die. You will lie unburied on the open ground, for I have given you as food to the wild animals and birds. All the people of Egypt will know that I am the Lord, for to Israel you were just a staff made of reeds. (Ezekiel 29:3-6 NLT)

Too often we hear this coming from others and maybe even ourselves. We don’t create. We only see and use things that God has already given us. In the passage we see that yet again there is someone/thing that has said they are godlike. Since God is a jealous God we see he destroys them/it.

(For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 6:15 KJV)

They are referenced like the devil in. a dragon. They will be left to rot and waste away without a grave so that the prey of the fields can come and eat off of it. (That is pretty yuck!). Imagine how stinky that would be–yuck!

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. (Deuteronomy 5:9, 10 KJV)

HUMILITY! Humility says that I did not create myself or my surrounding. Humility says thank you God for the things you have done in my life. Humility allows us to keep God in his rightful place of authority in our lives.

I am thankful for many things:
    God
    The Blood
    Family
    Leadership
    The Blood
    Friends
    Health
    The Blood
    Wisdom
    New revelations
    A place to work
The Blood that is Greater and The Name that is More Powerful!
And the list goes on and on– and The Blood

  8. “Then Israel will no longer be tempted to trust in Egypt for help. Egypt’s shattered condition will remind Israel of how sinful she was to trust Egypt in earlier days. Then Israel will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.” (Ezekiel 29:16 NLT)
I’m thankful that I no longer trust my past, the riches of the world, but my TRUST IS IN A HOLY, RIGHTEOUS, MIGHTY GOD!! No other Name but the Name above ALL NAMES…. JESUS!!

  9. World against world.

A house divided against itself cannot stand. When Pharaoh “took control” over the land; God then put Babylon to war.
In our lives we must decide wether or not to obey God. I choose to obey.

  10. Vs.16, “And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord God.”

Ps. 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Heb. 10:17 says, “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”

Sometimes, like the children of Israel, we look back and see where Jesus brought us from.
I am THANKFUL today that when Jesus cleanses us from sin, he removes them so far that he never remembers them again.

Thank You Jesus for your mercy and grace today.

  11. iLove to eat the Word

“The Word of the Lord always comes to pass”

So, from the prophecy we discern the following:

Egypt would be desolated for 40 years (Ezekiel 29:12)
    By Nebuchadnezzar (Ezekiel 29:18, 30:10)
It was desolated after Ezekiel’s last prophecy against her in his 27th year of exile. (Ezekiel 29:18)
After the 40 years, Egypt will be a lowly Kingdom. (Ezekiel 29:14)
When did this happen? From the Bible record we can only assume it happened shortly after Ezekiel said Nebuchadnezzar was given Egypt as compensation for his attack on Tyre. Interestingly, secular chronology agrees. An ancient clay tablet now residing in the British Museum, known as the Nebuchadnezzar Inscription, talks about Nebuchadnezzar’s action against Egypt in his 37th year. That would be two years after Ezekiel said Egypt would be given to Babylon by Jehovah.

  12. 2-5
The image of Pharaoh who as her ruler represents Egypt is appropriate . The animal dominated the Nile and the crocodile god Sebek was considred Egypts protector

  13. Happy Thanksgiving!

    WHO ARE YOU LEANING ON?

And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven. And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the Lord, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. When they took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins to be at a stand. Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee. (Ezekiel 29:5-8 KJV)

GOD used Egypt (the World) to support HIS own people. However, as Israel was leaning on Egypt they broke. The broke support, they broke trust, they broke promises. Very broken thing causes harm and GOD takes harm to his own personal.

    Consider the NLT

I will leave you and all your fish stranded in the wilderness to die. You will lie unburied on the open ground, for I have given you as food to the wild animals and birds. All the people of Egypt will know that I am the Lord, for to Israel you were just a staff made of reeds. When Israel leaned on you, you splintered and broke and stabbed her in the armpit. When she put her weight on you, you gave way, and her back was thrown out of joint. “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring an army against you, O Egypt, and destroy both people and animals. (Ezekiel 29:5-8 NLT)

I am leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms, leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms of GOD.

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  14. 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.

Ok this is probably weird and I might have it all wrong but while I read this verse it made me thing of an old song. When it says cut off man and beast out of thee it immediately brought back a song that says “no-one can tame this animal I have become” and it got me thinking.. How could he cut a beast out of us if we don’t have the ability to become a beast.. I’m thinking his sword (The Word) he will use to rid us of our rebellious sinful human spirit and the capability to become a beast that we have. With him riding us of those spirits it will be easier for us to put on Christ.

  15. Thanksgiving of Cursed

9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the Lord: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it.

The Pharoah stood proudly proclaiming what he had came from his own strength and not God’s hand. An edict has gone forth ushering the destruction of the land and it’s haughty ruler.

Instead of destruction give thanks. Give thanks for what God has provided and give honor where honor is due.

    Humility breeds longevity.

  16. 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.

9 And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the Lord: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it.

    God is a jealous God…
The Lord wants the Egyptions to know that he is God and that everything in the world, the rivers, the sun, and every creeping thing is His. He wants to be clear to all the world that he is the maker of all things and that all worship should go to him. On this thanksgiving day lets be sure to give all glory to God and no one else.

  17. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
The Lord is my light and my salvation

What a great day to serve The Lord.

On that day I will make Israel powerful, and I will give you the right to be heard among them. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” -Ezekiel 29:21

This city will know that Jesus is our God. We will be heard among those that don’t know him and our voice will be powerful. Lives will be changed by the by the power of God!

  18. 21 In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  19. This chapter illustrates conceit. Pharaoh and Egypt were full of self. One should never be full of oneself, for the Lord (Jesus) is the provider of all; “Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  20. Unfaithful

God doesn’t take it lightly when people do His people wrong.

    Genesis 12:3
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

    Jeremiah 17:5
Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

We are foolish to trust in the world, but even in our folly the Lord takes note of whether we are done wrong and does something about it. He is faithful that even in our unfaithfulness, He cares about those unfaithful to us!

  21. And the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. And they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord [the Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service]. Because you have said, The river is mine and I have made it, (Ezekiel 29:9 AMP)

Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Declare to Me, if you have and know understanding. Who determined the measures of the earth, if you know? Or who stretched the measuring line upon it? (Job 38:4, 5 AMP)

He is God alone. It was His spoken word that created this earth.

  22. Praise be to God who always causes us to win! Thank be to God who is always constant!
I give God praise that I’m able to have things to give thanks for!

  23. 12 And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

Leaning on the world can leave you scattered and dispersed.. Stay close to God in church right under His covering leaning on His arms and His unfailing love

  24. Bye bye crutches

16 And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord God.

The very thing we depend on that isn’t God will eventually be removed from us. God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5). He will remove the things in our life that we depend on that bring us sin. Mercy has it’s season. Seek God while he may be found. Isaiah 55:6

  25. 17. And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 18. Son of man, Neb-u-chadrez’-zar king of Bab’-y-lon caused his army to serve a great service against Ty’-rus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Ty’-rus, for the service that he had served against it: 19. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will give the land of E’-gypt unto Neb-u-chad-rez’zar king of Bab’-y-lon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.

  26. 9-11 “‘Because you said, “It’s my Nile. I made it. It’s all mine,” therefore I am against you and your rivers. I’ll reduce Egypt to an empty, desolate wasteland all the way from Migdol in the north to Syene and the border of Ethiopia in the south. Not a human will be seen in it, nor will an animal move through it. It’ll be just empty desert, empty for forty years.

12 “‘I’ll make Egypt the most desolate of all desolations. For forty years I’ll make her cities the most wasted of all wasted cities. I’ll scatter Egyptians to the four winds, send them off every which way into exile.

13-16 “‘But,’ says God, the Master, ‘that’s not the end of it. After the forty years, I’ll gather up the Egyptians from all the places where they’ve been scattered. I’ll put things back together again for Egypt. I’ll bring her back to Pathros where she got her start long ago. There she’ll start over again from scratch. She’ll take her place at the bottom of the ladder and there she’ll stay, never to climb that ladder again, never to be a world power again. Never again will Israel be tempted to rely on Egypt. All she’ll be to Israel is a reminder of old sin. Then Egypt will realize that I am God, the Master.’”

Some people cannot handle success in any form or fashion. Just like we see in this chapter, Pharaoh was taking all the credit for things that he had no business claiming fame to. Lord help all of us to stay humble. I would hate for the Lord to have to take things away from me that He blessed me with because I become prideful and arrogant, like I don’t need Him any longer.

  27. SANTO SANTO SANTO!!!
18 Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service that he had served against it:
This reminds me of alot of people, whom work and work, knowingly and unknowingly serve idols and you can see the tiredness in their countenance and they have no happiness to shew forth for all of their hard labor and struggles!!! They look bitter and there surely Is no smile unless………..
I Thank you JESUS for great mercy and loving kindness that you have given me…. I love you DADDY!!! HALELUJAH!!! THERE IS AND NEVER WILL BE ANYONE LIKE YOU!!! YOU ARE MY FIRST LOVE!!! I PRAISE YOU JESUS!!!
    HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  28. Judgment of Egypt

The jugments of God now turn to Egypt, the nation that has played a major role throughout Israel’s history. For her capriciousness in her support of Israel, God will judge her. For taking the refugee family of Jacob in an allowing the nation of Israel to develop within her borders, and then turning that natin of His into slaves; for one time supporting Israel, and the next, moving to conquer her- God pronounces the same judgment on Egypt as on Judah. She will lie desolate for 40 years, her people will disperse throughout the nations; then her people will be allowed to return (vs11-13), just as Judah will be allowed to return to Jerusalem.

Babylonian historical records show Egypt’s demise at their hands as occuring at about the same time as Judah’s. Although no historical records exist evidencing their exile return, 40 years would bring them (historically) to the Persian takeover of the Babylonian kingdom. Persia’s policy of returning exiles to their homelands brought the Jews back to Israel and perhaps also brought the Egyptians back to Egypt. God keeps His Word even in judgment.

  29. 8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.

What are we allowing God to take out of us? Are we holding on to everything that burdens and devours the light within us? Take the time to ask yourself, what have I allowed God to take freely from me this week? Or are we still holding on to the things of the past…
