Ezekiel 35

35 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

3 And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.

4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

7 Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the Lord was there:

11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

14 Thus saith the Lord God; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  1. It Pays to Pray for Israel!!!!!!

I am thankful that we pray for Israel everyday!!!! As we read in this chapter if you do harm or speak ill of Israel, God will let His sword fall upon you. There is no reason to kick someone when they are down.
It is wise to remember that there are certain things that God despises as it is said in Proverbs 6: 16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Pray and Bless Israel everyday and you will be blessed. Gen 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Pray for Israel to be blessed, for the Revival of the Holy Ghost to take place there. Pray for our region of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and surrounding counties, for Holy Ghost Revival and for their hearts to soften to feel God’s calling to come to POFW. In Jesus Name, AMEN.

  2. 5-9 “‘I’m doing this because you’ve kept this age-old grudge going against Israel: You viciously attacked them when they were already down, looking their final punishment in the face. Therefore, as sure as I am the living God, I’m lining you up for a real bloodbath. Since you loved blood so much, you’ll be chased by rivers of blood. I’ll reduce Mount Seir to a heap of rubble.

We never win by holding a grudge against someone and rejoicing in their mishaps or failures. God created all of us to win. Sometimes people’s attitudes and actions cause them to be defeated. It is at those times that we must really lead as a christian. If we take pride in their fall and defeat, we will be just like this scripture, God will turn that same judgement upon us. A leader leads at all times. Our attitude and actions are being watched by many and we are the only bible many people read. Are we portraying Christ as He would have us to portray Him? We are only accountable for our own actions, what we say or do because ultimately that is what we will be judged for. God help us to let grudges go and convict us when we take pleasure in the hurt or fall of others.

  3. 15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

    BE CAREFUL WHY YOU REJOICE

These people were rejoicing about God bringing Judgement against Israeli. You have heard of the pot calling the kettle black, well this is perfect case. These people were as rebellious and worshiping strange gods, but thought I can get by with it. They laughed at Israeli and rejoiced over their calamity.
Their day came though, God became weary with their ways and brought his judgement against them.
Woe be to us if we do not take heed to what has did to others. Lord help me today to be humble and have a spirit of gratitude instead of pride.
Because God hates even a proud look. If he hates a proud look, how much more could he hate pride.
The word teaches us to rejoice with them that rejoice and weep with them that weep.

  4. 13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

14 Thus saith the Lord God; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

What a feeling of loneliness and rejection – the whole world rejoicing, but they will be so desolate that they will have nothing to rejoice about. This is what happens when one speaks against God and His people. Don’t be fooled, He hears it.

  5. This chapter spoke to me about blessing others in prayer. We must be careful not to speak ill of others. Humans are curious by nature; but, we sometimes take that too far. If someone has backslidden or we see someone is struggling, don’t question the “why”, don’t wonder “what”; but, take them in prayer as you would want someone to pray for you. We all struggle through different things and situations in life; but, how we respond is key. The Lord sees the heart and the words spoken, both in secret and aloud. The words we speak of others can become our own fate as this chapter exemplifies.

  6. 9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

What does it take for us to know that he is Lord? There are plenty of opportunities for us to recognize and understand that he is Lord by how good he has been to us, how gracious and how merciful, how loving and patient. I don’t want to somehow miss all that and God have to show himself mighty through things like perpertual desolation. We have to always remember how good God has been to us and worship him for that or he will bend our knees eventually one way or another.

    Isaiah 45:
23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

  7. 10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the Lord was there:

My house, my car, my family, my time, my money, my talent, etc.

This attitude leads to utter destruction and calamity.

    Why?

A closed hand cannot be used by God. The things we possess are only ours because of stewardship. That is it. One day the Master will ask for account, and everything we have clung to, and not allowed God to use freely for his purpose, his will and his glory we have hidden beneath the ground.

Matthew 25:24 shows the attitude of the unjust steward.

“I knew that you were a hard man. Taking what you didn’t work for, and expecting everything out of us while giving us little.” Paraphrased

God will shake his head and say if you only knew.

The key to blessing, and prosperity is GIVING. everything because it is all his.

  8. I Love to eat the Word

A good lesson to learn here is to not rejoice against those who are the children of God, even backsliders. David teaches us a great lesson in how to treat those who have fallen. “Touch not God’s Anointed.” If we see a backsliders in a bad situation, we should pray and not rejoice.

15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  9. 15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
When someone is down , we need to help them up not push them further down .We are supposed to lift I brother up with encouragement , telling them to come on we can make it. If we judge others just remember there will come a day when others will judge us by things that they here that are not always true.
We need to pray for each other and not listen to people who enjoy gossiping about everyone . They should not be welcome to talk to you negative about anyone because when your back is turned it will be you that they are starting garbage on. Lord help us keep our mouth and ears clean from gossip!!!

  10. PRIDE: THE PATHWAY TO JUDGEMENT

5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

PRIDE is a mighty deceptive attitude. Throughout the WORD of GOD we have witnessed PRIDE be the fall of great men and great nations. PRIDE stills remains satans favorite tool of destruction.

PRIDE – a feeling that you respect yourself and deserve to be respected by other people
: a feeling that you are more important or better than other people
: a feeling of happiness that you get when you or someone you know does something good, difficult, etc.

PRIDE is a natural emotion of rejoicing for and over others; however when PRIDE becomes self centered and driven, it is then the source of evil and wickedness. We are encouraged to be proud of the accomplishments of others, when rejoice with them that rejoice, we are expressing how proud we are of them.

Hatred is the FRUIT of PRIDE and is the offense that GOD is addressing here.

    ***LESSON

Never rejoice over someone else’s TROUBLE because that TROUBLE may be GOD setting them up for a BLESSING through correcting them.

LORD JESUS iPray you will reveal to us areas of PRIDE in our lives that we may repent of them before we they become strongholds of hatred.
Thank you JESUS, this is done today in JESUS name.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. 15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

You will reap what you sow. However you judge someone, that is how you will be judged. An eye for an eye,and a tooth for a tooth. Be very careful in how you judge. Remember that we are not judges, but God is the Judge of judges. He is just and able to forgive. So then, why is it so hard for us to forgive ? Our flesh has this idea called payback. The Bible stats that vengeance is the Lords. So keep peace.

  12. A Word You Can Count On

“Your eternal hatred for the people of Israel led you to butcher them when they were helpless, when I had already punished them for all their sins. As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, since you show no distaste for blood, I will give you a bloodbath of your own. Your turn has come! (Ezekiel 35:5, 6 NLT)

The Lord can not lie! He is so faithful. What an awesome God we serve. What a privilege to be able to stand on the solid rock, the Word of God. My heart is overwhelmed with thanksgiving for His word and promises. We are a blessed people.

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:1-3 NLT)

  13. You keep me humble Lord. Thank you my Jesus. Search my heart Lord and show me the things that displease you. My merciful savior and friend. I could not even go through one day without your hand guiding my life. thank you Jesus. Sometimes when I feel completely broken I realize you are teaching me and molding me even if it hurts. I am thankful for the trials Lord.

  14. 11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

    Matthew 7:2
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged:and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

We can’t hide from God. He knows our hearts and thoughts. If we extend mercy and grace it will return back to us, likewise if we extend hate and judgment that too shall return unto us. God lives by His word and principles.

    Galatians 6:7
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked:for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Be careful what you sow into others lives.

  15. desolate meaning to desert, left alone, to forsake, gloomy 12. And thou shalt know that I am the LORD,and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Is’- ra-el, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume. 13. Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them. 14. Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate. 15. As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Is’-ra-el, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Se’-ir, and all I-du-me’-a, even all of it : and they shall know that I am the LORD.

    ;

  16. We shouldn’t talk about others, especially if we don’t even know the whole truth of them or their situations. I again thought of the saying, “What goes around, comes around” but it’s not up to us to take revenge or to judge, that is all on God. Taking those matters into your own hands and talking about others will only bring God’s revenge and judgment on yourself.

  17. Have you ever pondered the concept of getting even with people? Someone cut us off in traffic and caused our cherry Slurpee to spill. You race after the person only to lose them. So, I will show the next person that cuts me off… I will get even!

Have we gotten even with people that have done good things for us? We choose what we do and what consumes our time. What if we put forth an effort to get even with people that do good things for others? Maybe this person/family has not done anything for you personally but they are always giving and willing to lend a hand when called upon. How can we get even with them?

Dwelling on grudges is bad for your health. Grudges and dwelling on hurtful events cause anxiety, depression, increased heart rate, and elevated blood pressure.

    Proverbs 19:11
    Proverbs 20:22

  18. God hears everything, even our thoughts! So, don’t think he hasn’t heard or doesn’t care. He hears all those around you too. Vengeance is the Lords and not ours. He hears your inner thoughts too, he wants truth in the inner parts, and he looks into the heart. “Repentance” is always the answer, for he is faithful and just to forgive us, and to cleanse us from all our sins. “If, you confess your sins”. Thank you for the blood of Jesus. Amen & Amen…………….

    “Keep your Place”……………………..”Holdfast”…………………

  19. Your promise lives on, don’t sell it for sin!!

10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the Lord was there:

Edom thought they could possess the land after the fall of Israel. That wasn’t the plan of God. Even in judgement and destruction, God had plans for redemption. God’s desire is restoration from repentance. Even in the midst of judgement, God can grant mercy. ( II Sam 24)

Edom, the descendents of Esau, desired the promise land after Israel’s fall. Esau traded his birthright for a morsel of beans. Gen 25:29-34 illustrates how we can pass up a spiritual blessing by fulfilling desires of the flesh. The promise will always live on, just make sure it’s not sold to another.

Romans 9:13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” NLT
Romans 8:7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. ESV

  20. “For you said, ‘The lands of Israel and Judah will be ours. We will take possession of them. What do we care that the Lord is there!’ Therefore, as surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I will pay back your angry deeds with my own. I will punish you for all your acts of anger, envy, and hatred. And I will make myself known to Israel by what I do to you. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have heard every contemptuous word you spoke against the mountains of Israel. For you said, ‘They are desolate; they have been given to us as food to eat!’ In saying that, you boasted proudly against me, and I have heard it all! (Ezekiel 35:10-13 NLT)
How much more can one take when he/she is down? Don’t be so quick to laugh, to give that self righteous look, to be snobby, to SPEAK or WHISPER those awful words, to give a cold shoulder, and walk pass someone as they never ever existed in their life much more existed in your life!!! I’M GUILTY!!!!!!! Yes I’ve fine this before, and it was because of hurt/pain that many times I didn’t understand even why. That was B.C. But now as I see, I now pray, and reach out for the individual. I know that God sees the intent of my heart, and I am aware of that! Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me. (Micah 7:8 KJV)

  21. Edom had long term hostility toward Israel and Judah . Here Edom stands for all nations who have acted like her. The accusations against foreign nations which call foe divine judgments are 1 hostility toward Israel 2 a desire to possess the land 3 disrespect for God who gave his people the land 4 refusal to submit to the Lord

  22. Vs.3, “And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.”
Vs.4, “I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.”
Vs.5, “Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end.”

Vs.15, “As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee; thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.”

This made me think of the saying, “Your going to reap what you sow.”
Gal.6:7 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

  23. 5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
You live by the sword you die by it…
God pronounced judgement upon these people because they allowed themselves to live by the sword… To have no mercy upon Isreal even in their calamity. So God decided he would judge them as harshly as they judged others. Its important to be careful in our joudgements to one another becuase the bible says whatsoever judgement we give we will also recieve back.

  24. This chapter illustrates involvement. Their involvement and murmuring against the children of Israel, was unwise; “Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them”. As such, one’s involvement can lead to destruction if it is against God (Jesus), or to a blessing if it is for God. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  25. 15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  26. Edom= Essau

It seemed as though Essau had forgiven Jacob when they reunited in Gen 35: 4″ Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.” Something happened between the time Essau forgave Jacob, and the time Israel the nation took dominion over the promised land, he so easily gave away. Essau (Edom) may have forgiven Jacob, but I don’t believe he ever forgave himself. Essau didn’t find the value in his inheritance the way Jacob did. Jacob was married to the vision, his grandfathers vision. Issac their father had coasted on his father Abraham’s promises and victories, and that contentment and stagnation manifested itself in Essau. It wasn’t hard to see that Issac perfered Essau, and Rebecca perfered Jacob. Who we spend the most of our time with will shape us. Sometimes when I open my mouth I hear my mothers words, because I clung to my mother. When we see someone that we have let go of prosper more than ourselves jealously and covetousness will try and creep in. When a child gives up a toy because they loose interest in it and it’s give to another who is overjoyed they become upset.

They were a blessed nation because God kept his word as Issac gave a blessing over Essau after Jacob claimed the birthright. Blessed wasn’t enough. Its the truth, because God’s people will never truly find peace until they are resting in God’s presence, a luxury Essau doesn’t possess. Outside of God’s presence is that anger and wrath “ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites over to the sword at the time of calamity, the time their punishment reached its climax.” (vs5). Instead of standing up for their falling twin brother, Essau=Edom sticks the proverbial spear in Jacob’s side. Then they boasted and rejoiced when the rightful house of Israel became desolate. Full of evil blind thoughts they actually thought they would get away with it.

Vision is important, Jacob took it, Essau gave up on it.
Forgiveness is important. It doesn’t expire when someone does better or worse than you.
Instead of boasting and kicking your brother when he is down, we need to become our brothers keeper.

Pr 24: 17Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:18Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

Mic 7: 8Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

  27. 2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

It is surely not a good place to be to have The Lord through the Man of God to Prophesy against you.

I think it has been well said by the watchman. A lifestyle
of repentance will keep us in right standing with God.

    Repent and live

  28. Part of the duties as a church is to build each other up, not tear them down or talk about them. When saints or first comers come to POFW we should all feel welcome to express ourselves freely. It’s sad to say however, some are not able to do so.

  29. Wow, Repentance

In this chapter God is telling them they are going to get what they deserve. Pastor taught on repentance tonight. That is what they were missing. They never had a change of heart or actions. That is why Hod had to deal with them as harshly as he did.

Jesus let us lead a life that is walked in repentance for our sins.

  30. 5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

God pretects His people. And He is the righteous Judge. God is always watching the actions of every one. Not only the ones being punished, but those around. How are others reactions to when some one is being chastised? He sees it all. He is the Lord and created of all. My thought on this chapter was, what would’ve happened if instead of rejoicing they would’ve blessed Israel by praying for them, lifting them up in prayer? Could that have brought a great blessing ion them? The Word tells us that the Lord will bless those that bless israel and curse those that curse them. Could we maybe apply this on our personal relationships. Bless, those that are being corrected, intercede and lift their name before the Lord…who knows maybe God will pour out a great blessing upon you. Our actions speak

  31. 11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

The Lord knows everything and sees everything. Punishment is the Lords, he will judge all. There is no running away from the Lord, he knows the intention of the heart, he’s watching.

Lord thank you for the Holy Ghost. Deliver me from all obsticles that get in the way of doing your will.

  32. Love

6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

    1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

    1 Peter 4:8
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

V6 of this chapter reminds me of the account of the woman caught in the act of adultery. The “religious” took her to Jesus, hungry for her blood so “righteousness could win.” But Jesus taught an important lesson about His heart: God desires restoration greater than judgement. If judgment were all He desired, we could have stopped at the law. Indeed, the religious during that time had become so consumed with the details of rights and wrongs that they left off reconciliation. But Jesus proved His heart at the cross when He bore our judgment so we could have reconciliation.

    2 Corinthians 5:19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Love has the attitude that it would rather cover sin than demand blood for it. It does not rejoice in wrong doing, so where’s the victory in condemning the wrong when there can yet be reconciliation? We are called to do as the religious with the woman caught in adultery and drop our rocks and seek for sin to be covered, whether it be for others or ourself.

    1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

No matter the circumstance, no transgression is too much for love. Imagine that kind of real love; unending, faithful, hopeful, never failing… that’s the love that doesn’t desire blood but mercy.

    Proverbs 17:9
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

    Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
