Ezekiel 36

1 Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of theLord:

2 Thus saith the Lord God; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:

3 Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:

4 Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God; Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of the heathen that are round about;

5 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

6 Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen:

7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.

8 But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.

9 For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:

10 And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:

11 And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

12 Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men.

13 Thus saith the Lord God; Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast bereaved thy nations:

14 Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nations any more, saith the Lord God.

15 Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen any more, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nations to fall any more, saith the Lord God.

16 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

17 Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.

18 Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:

19 And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

20 And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the Lord, and are gone forth out of his land.

21 But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the LordGod; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29 I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

30 And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.

31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

33 Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded.

34 And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by.

35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.

36 Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.

37 Thus saith the Lord God; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

38 As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

Isaiah 54:Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord.

    2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

    HALLELUJAH LET’S MAKE ROOM!!!!

  2. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29 I will also save you from all your uncleanliness: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

A NEW HEART AND A NEW SPIRIT

Living for God will take both a new heart and a new spirit. I am so glad God made a way of escape for a people that was willing to mend their ways. God cleansed his people because of the promise that he gave to the nation of Israeli. This new heart will help us understand the ways of God. Many people do not realize the ways of God and understand what God expects out of them. God promise here is we would keep his judgements and do them.
When we keep the commandments and not before we shall be called his people and he will be our God. Nothing better could happen than Jesus be called our God. He accepts us as his people. Not what we claim, but what he claims! I want him to call me his child, what a reward could be better than this.
THANK GOD FOR A NEW HEART AND SPIRIT!!!

  3. iLove to eat the Word

22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

Just like pastor preached last night about grace, this scripture confirms the message of grace. Just because God does something for us doesn’t mean he approves of us personally, sometimes he does it just to honor his Holy Name.

  4. 31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

Until we loathe our old selves and the sins we had committed, we have not reached true repentance. God hates sin. If we are to be like Him, we must also hate sin and want to never commit them again.

  5. 1 Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of theLord:

Here we have the man of God talking to inanimate objects. Literally a captive audience. Yet the mountains cannot respond like people can respond.

How much more should our response be when hearing the word of The Lord.

The Bible tells us we are lively stones. It also says that if Israel would not give him praise the rocks would cry out.

God replaced them with us for the season. What love! What mercy! What favor!

We must never forget where we came from, or think we are not expendable. Instead have a repentant heart, and a humble attitude.

Finally. Do what we have been created to do! Praise prayer worship serve give walk with and love the great infinite King our Father Jesus!!

  6. The beginning of verses 8-12 MSG reads “‘But you, Mountains of Israel, will burst with new growth, putting out branches and bearing fruit for my people Israel. My people are coming home! Do you see? I’m back again. I’m on your side……..” I must have a vivid imagination because I can visually see what a burst of life would be like. I imagine it would be like when someone new comes in and you can see the change, see the expression and change of life as God begins to take over. As verses 25-27 NLT say “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” I believe God wants POFW to “burst with new growth”; therefore, we must have that tender and responsive heart to receive what God wants for his people.

  7. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

God has given us all he can. He has laid his life down for us, he gave us his spirit, he created everything that we know…. To walk with him in glory is the last thing that he has prepared for us but if you read closely you will see that he always has some contingency. We read right over the most important words in the scriptures some times. Cause is the word in this scripture that if you read over it you will miss the message from God. He will cause you to walk in his statutes. Ans shall… ye shall keep my judgments. There is so many things that we miss because those little things are what hold us accountable to him.

  8. SANTO !!! SANTO !!! SANTO! !!
22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the LordGod; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
Some times we take “for his name”s sake” and say that it was GOD blessing us cause it was HIS will, when in reality it was left alone for HIS NAME’S SAKE…..

  9. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

When we have a heart of flesh, it is easier to heal. I grew up around farming, and with that this makes sense. When you have rocky soil, when you till it, it is very fragile to the elements. You want good soul that is easily manipulative in order for rain and air to penetrate it. Just as a “fleshly” heart ; it will allow the Holy Ghost to penetrate our hearts faster and better. So that we are healthier in the Spirit. Keep your heart clean and clear.

  10. 23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

I thank you Lord for your forgiveness and mercy and for bringing me to a place where I can fellowship with you. My wonderful merciful Savior, without you I am nothing.

  11. 24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.

Its all in the fruit! These people were desolate, driven out of their own, destroyed. Yet the Lord has Ezekiel prophecy to them that He will turn toward them again. Bring them into their own land. Give them a new heart, a heart that will turn away from evil toward Him. He will cleanse them, place His spirit within them, a transformation will take place in them, and they will bear fruit.

This is a great example of a life that has truly repented and a promise from the Lord of what He shall do in a repented life.

We are measured by the fruit that is evident in our life. If there is no evidence of fruit in our live, we need to dig around and make sure we are connected to the VINE.

  12. I remember one particular winter when we lived in Goatneck. It was very cold and muddy. It was my responsibility to feed the cattle. So, after suiting up for the cold weather, off I went to take hay and ground feed to the cows. It seemed everything was against me that morning. The tractor would not start, the hay ring was frozen to the ground and my truck got stuck trying to feed the yearlings. Before I could return home, a neighbor stopped by and asked for help repairing a busted water pipe. Of course, the pipe was outside; in the cold and not muddy ground.

After hours out in the cold I finally returned home and went straight to the shower. After cleaning off all the filthiness of the morning I settled into my “easy” chair and pulled a blanket over me. I remember how good it felt to be clean and warm. I soon drifted off to sleep.

Here, the Lord is stating He is going to clean up Israel and restore them. Israel, having been busted down and punished for their sins are now being cleaned up and restored to their land. I can imagine the feeling of some as being covered with filthiness and that are now clean, safe and warm. Thank you Lord for your forgiveness and restoration process.

  13. GODS UNIQUE PLAN FOR RESTORATION

As reading this chapter this morning it was clearly laid out that even before the death of JESUS on the Cross we witness the nature of of Savior.

We witness GRACE, REPENTANCE AND FAVOR

GOD gives GRACE to HIS people so that others can witness the goodness of GOD and call upon HIS great name.

    Notice:

    1. Separation – vs 24
    2. Cleansing – vs 25 – Sprinkle – a BLOOD application/Baptism
    3. Repentance – vs 26 – a NEW heart – passion, desire
    4. Regeneration – vs 27 – Filled with the Holy Spirit
    5. Blessings – vs 28 – Living in the FAVOR of GOD.

    Why?

    vs 22 (NLT)
22 “Therefore, give the people of Israel this message from the Sovereign Lord: I am bringing you back, but not because you deserve it. I am doing it to protect my holy name, on which you brought shame while you were scattered among the nations.

GRACE – Unmerited or Undeserving FAVOR.

    Thank you JESUS!

  14. 31 Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

This passage mimics what pastor said last night about hating the appearance of evil. When brought to light and in the glory of God we see our reflection and we will be aware and ashamed of any sin found in us. When we hate sin in our lives we have reached that 3 rd level of repentance.
God doesn’t do things for us because He owes us. Sometimes it’s because He is bound by His word and others is because we have His name on our lives so He does it for His own name sake.

  15. 1-12
The prophecy is addresrd to the land rather than the exiles. Ezekiles wants to encourage the exiles and assure the that God has not abandoned his people. None of the exiles would live to see these orophecies fulfilled yet the land remains . GOD speaks to the land.

  16. This chapter gives the opposite side to the judgment pronounced on Israel’s enemies in the preceding chapter. While her enemies will be wiped out, Israel will receive the blessings of God. Her mountains will prosper(vv.1-15) and her people will be regathered to this newly blessed land(vv.16:38). This will be a miraculous regathering by God of all Israel to their land: I will….gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land (v.24). It will also be a regathering in belief : Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean..A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you …I will also save you(vv.25-29). The restoration here prophesied then will be both physical and spiritual (cf.Jer.31:31-34). The prophecy indicates that Israel will be regathered in the land before she is reborn spiritually.

  17. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
27 And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. (NLT)

Thank you Jesus for allowing us a new heart and spirit. We must remember that He does so for His Name’s sake that we would follow Him and obey his commandments.

  18. 8-12 “‘But you,Mountains of Israel, will burst with new growth, putting out branches and bearing fruit for my people Israel. My people are coming home! Do you see? I’m back again. I’m on your side. You’ll be plowed and planted as before! I’ll see to it that your population grows all over Israel, that the towns fill up with people, that the ruins are rebuilt. I’ll make this place teem with life—human and animal. The country will burst into life, life, and more life, your towns and villages full of people just as in the old days. I’ll treat you better than I ever have. And you’ll realize that I am GOD. I’ll put people over you—my own people Israel! They’ll take care of you and you’ll be their inheritance. Never again will you be a harsh and unforgiving land to them.

  19. I thank you Jesus for forgiving me of my old life and changing me and molding me for the new life in Jesus Name.

  20. This chapter illustrates consequences. Their disobedience was costly; “Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it”. One that is wise will heed and obey the word of the Lord, and what sayeth the man of God. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  21. Vs.24, “For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.”
Vs.25, “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.”
Vs.26, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
Vs.27, “And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”

This made me think of the scriptures found in Titus 3:3-8.
Vs.3, “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.”
Vs.4, “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared.”
Vs.5, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
Vs.6, “Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.”
Vs.7, “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
Vs.8, “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”

I am so thankful for the kindness, love, mercy and grace of God. He called us out of a world of darkness, cleaned us up, gave us a new heart, and put his holy spirit within us. Now it is up to us to maintain good works and keep this temple unspotted from the world.

  22. Is there anything else that can be said here? Except we’re moving……..

24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
    _______________________________________________________
Thank God for his mercies, and his power to change his creation!

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

    _______________________________________________________
Fill us with the Holy Spirit……….New Heart………No More Stony Heart…..

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

    “HOLDFAST”………Another MercyMe Song………………..

  23. God truly is a merciful God Yes he is! If God forgives who do we think we are to not forgive or choose who to forgive. Thank you Jesus for your mercy.

  24. It’s time to make room POFW! All of our harvest is being plowed and we have nowhere to put them. The time is NOW to build!

  25. Judgment, but grace

After the judgement the people faced, they were giving a promise of the Holy Spirit. God understood, through the nature of sin, man could not properly serve him. Therefore, He would give us His Spirit, and write his statutes in our hearts. That way, one day, after this world passes, we can worship him free from sin.

  26. 38 As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

  27. 8 But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.

The Lord’s desire for us is to be fruitful and to be multiplied in him. When we are sensitive to his presence and his word our hearts are turned to him continually.

Repentance brings us to a place where we remove things out of our lives that are not like him. This brings forth opportunity for growth.

He takes away every branch that does not bear fruit in me. He prunes every branch that bears fruit so that it will bear more fruit. -John 15:2

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. -John 15:5

  28. 22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the LordGod; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

Wow! What a terrible, powerful mighty God we have and serve… After I read this chapter I couldn’t help but to think, ” You’re not all that and a bag of ships!” God may do things for us because of His Holy Name sake, not because we deserve it but we are blessed from it. And also we see here how he speaks to the mountains, just like He spoke to the sea… And they replied, they responded in action, but has such a hard time gettin men to respond to Him. Why must the men of, God keep cheering us on to praise the Mighty of mighties, the great I Am, and every service day and everyday of your life not only through the man of God, but in many other ways, For His name sake, the Lord speaks to us, will you praise me??
Wow, I bless you Jesus, you are Holy and great!!

  29. 29 I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

It’s the will of God to protect his people from harm and for us to obey him and stay away from sin. I give God the glory for each and every blessing for his mercy endureth forever.

Lord shine on me. Thank you for your blood that cleanses me white as snow.

  30. A Greater End

11 And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

When there seems to be no end in sight, we must hold faith that God plans a better ending than our beginning. We are not meant to be continuously held in uncertainty but can find hope and an expected end in God. Even when we can’t see it, we can trust Him for it. In humility we trust God, casting every care on Him, and can see His promises come to pass and our expected end fulfilled.

    1 Peter 5:5-7
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

    Ecclesiastes 7:8
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

  31. 32. Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Is’-ra-el. 33. Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from al your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. 34. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. 35. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of E;-den; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. 36. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Isaiah 51 : 3 For the LORD shall comfort Zi’ – on: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like E’-den, and her desert like the gardenof the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

  32. Awesome verses
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. (Ezekiel 36:27-29 KJV)

  33. Ezekiel 36: 9 For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:10 And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:

Sounds alot like Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

God’s children go through painful milestones. Israel endures 450 years of slavery in Egypt, they were told the word of God, that they would be delievered. Hearing the message of the Lord, and standing on it in times of pressure are very different. Giving, plowing and sowing are all painful milestones in spiritual growth. In order for God to grow us He must first cut, and trim us down (till, or plow). God says multiple times in this chapter for Ezekiel to “speak” or “prophesy” the word of God. The way we will endure ‘if’ we stand on his word and ‘speak’ his promises. In the midst of the storm Peter was only able to walk on water to Jesus by standing on Jesus word to ‘come’ to Him. He commisioned us to ‘speak’ to the storm.
