Ezekiel 37

1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

13 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.

15 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,

16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions:

17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?

19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.

23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.

25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.

26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

28 And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

  1. 9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

    CAN THESE BONES LIVE

The greatest part of this is the power of prophesy! God can cause anything to happen, we sing he can do anything. We should believe he can do anything, even cause dead dry bones to live!

19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

I like this part in verse 19 the best, God will bring Judah, Israeli, and Joseph together. The tribes of the whole nation of Israeli come together, all families should never have grievances that causes division, if we will trust God he can do anything to bring us together.

Yes even dead dry bones can come together and make peace when God moves on the scene, WOW what a thought.

  2. The rising of Bones

Hope rises!!!! It is difficult to pick one verse today when the whole chapter is filled with HOPE!!!! Hope of the resurrection of old dreams that have died and dried up. Hope of seeing them return to God, you see there is nothing God can not do, there is no such thing as gone too far, or condemned until the day of judgement. So all our loved one, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, total strangers, etc. that are out there in the world still have an opportunity to be saved no matter how far they have gone. HOPE IS STILL ALIVE. GOD RESTORES ALL. The key is unity, stay united under ONE GOD!!!! ONE SHEPHERD!!! This chapter is one of my favorites for it shows that there are NO IMPOSSIBLES WITH GOD!!!!

  3. 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.

We take on new life when God comes into our lives. He gives us a new purpose and a new destiny. This place is not our promised home, we are just passing through.

Heb 13:14 For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.(NLT)

  4. Wow…..the things that Ezekiel was able to see and experience as he was obedient to all that the Lord commanded of him. My God can put us back together and give us new life in Him. Verses 26-27 MSG “I’ll make a covenant of peace with them that will hold everything together, an everlasting covenant. I’ll make them secure and place my holy place of worship at the center of their lives forever. I’ll live right there with them. I’ll be their God! They’ll be my people!” Let God be the center of your life and really live. The word “sinews” also caught my attention in the MSG version in verses 5-6. It is defined as:

    1. a tendon.
    2. Often, sinews. the source of strength, power, or vigor: the sinews of the
    nation.
    3. strength; power; resilience: a man of great moral sinew.
    4. to furnish with sinews; strengthen, as by sinews.

God will not only put you back together; but, he will now be your source of strength and power.

  5. 1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

In order to prophecy to situations, and speak life into situations, we first must be carried away in the spirit. We can’t operate in a spirit world, calling things that are not as though they were and speaking life into situations that look hopeless, if we have not spent time at the Master’s feet. I remember what Sis. Porche taught when she was here: Jesus could do the miracles, signs and wonders that He did, because He had spent time in the spirit, and knew what to do when those situations arose.

The last day church, the true Apostolics must practice this every day being carried away in the spirit so we will know how to act/react to those we meet. We will also know when to speak life and when to prophesy to dead situations.

  6. Because of their sins, the children of Israel were like dried bones. They had no life in them and their hope was gone. They were a nation that was divided into two kingdoms. However, God in his great mercy breathed new life into them and revived them. They were no longer going to be divided but one nation. He would be their God, and they would be his people.

We too, at one time. were dead in our trespasses and sins and like dried bones. We were seperated from God, lost in this world, and without hope. “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened (enlivened, revived, aroused, stirred) us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.” Eph. 2:4-6.

Because of His Mercy and His Great Love, we don’t have to be like dried bones, but we can be Revived and made Alive in him and have hope today. We no longer are seperated from God, but he has made us sit together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. He is our God, and we are his people.

  7. 11-14

The bones are identified as all of Israel DRY AND DEAD for a great periord of time and with out hope of seeing Gods covenant promis fullfilled. This is folowed by a physical restoration which symbolizes national restoration and a return to life which symbolizes spiritual restoration. The rest of this chapter is clearly a vison of historys end and the establishment of MESSIAHS KINGDOM.

  8. LIFE AND DEATH RESIDE IN THE TONGUE

So frequent the LORD our GOD will speak to us about seeming hopeless situations and relationships to reveal to us (he already knows) exactly where our FAITH level is. According to man’s ability and power this verbal portrait of Ezekiel’s view leaves even the most FAITHFUL with questions about “how” and “why” the seeks to know from us “CAN”. GOD is the author of the HOW and the WHY.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

We are wise to consider this miraculous unifying of the Holy Spirit every time we are faced with challenging, seeming impossible opportunities. Let us answer “LORD thou KNOWEST”!

  9. WHO CARES WHAT THEY SAY

11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

I have lived for GOD long enough to know that there are plenty of people in the world that will tell you what you can’t do, but there are few that will tell you what you can do.

In a Pastoral/Shepherd role there are numerous occasions to prophesy LIFE to those that have a similar mindset to what we read in verse 11.

    1. Bones are dry – (I’m tired) – (not working for GOD)
    2. Hope is lost – (I don’t know what to do) – (not praying)
    3. Cut off – (I don’t have a life) – (Strained relationship with JESUS-LIFE)

    ***KEY to VICTORY

Don’t listen to what negative people say about you or even about themselves.

  10. iLove to eat the Word

9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (John 3:8 KJV)

I’m glad the wind blew in my life! Thank You Jesus

  11. 9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

    Speak.
The power of speech is an awesome tool. Speech is caused by the vibrating of the vocal cords in your throat. The vocal cords are muscles in the throat. The pitch is caused by the tightening or loosening of those muscles. The air passing by is then moved to waves, which is what we hear. The sound waves then move through the air and hit our eardrum that in turn moves liquid in the ear canal. This liquid moves tiny hairs in the canal that then send electrical signals to the brain that create sound.
Now, science has looked at a molecule and found out that it is made up of atoms. These atoms are made up of electrons, protons, and neutrons. These three are then made up of what is now called the “God particle.” Which science says that is a particle that comes in and out of focus. It is made of sound waves.

Said all that to say, when you speak, your speech is true. Life and death are in the power of the tounge. This very true. When we speak it creates what ever you say. Be carful in what you say. God and all of creation is listening.

  12. 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

Hear the Word of the Lord…
The Power to Revive and Unite

What power is there in His mighty name and by His word. A power to bring things/ people together. The power to bring life. First what came together was the dead bones. I see this as we must have revival within ourselves before we can have the great revival with all coming together. Could it be that sometimes some of our stages in our walk with God may be as if we’re dead bones. Spiritually dead because of inequity, unwilling to submit, and unresponsive. But then comes a man of God obedient, willing to do whatever God asks and from the pulpit speaks the Living Word, and says; hear ye Word of the Lord… Wow what a picture. I wonder if this is how preachers sometimes see congregation, and before they step up to the pulpit, they hear the challenge, “can this bones live?” before any revival service. The answer as we see here is Lord you know it and the man of God obeyed and God does the rest. Word for word as if a master builder putting things back into place, and the great Physician putting on new kidneys, lungs, heart.. We are put back together by His Words, but then the most important must come, the Wind of the Spirit and cause us to have life. If we see the first thing done was they got up. No more dead man, you’re not defeated anymore, not on the ground of death and failures. They responded, they got up! New life and His Spirit will cause you to get up! Get up from sin, addictions, idolatry, bad habits… Imagine this, once revived. We can now come together and experience even a greater revival. Were we will be one in His hand. After all He is coming back for one bride, the church.

Psalm 133:1-3 Behold, how good and how pleasant it isfor brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard:that went down to the skirts of his garments; as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

  13. NLT 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again!

Without God, we are spiritually dead. Just like our flesh & bones, we make no noise, no praise, no worship, no movement, just nothing we turn into dust.
We need God to breath into us the Word, so we can live daily! Having the Spirit of God within us allows to praise & worship him. Thank you God for breathing life into me and realizing your our creator!

  14. Ezekiel 37:1
    Chapter 37
The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

Amazing! Ezekiel had just witness a level of unprecedented destruction. Cities, tones, and people’s have been scattered. In what would seem like an utterly hopeless state of affairs the man of God is transported to another world.

Before him lie the slain of a Great War, and God brings sinew, bone, and flesh together before his eyes.

This story screams at me Be Patient!

Ezekiel went through some crazy stuff before this supernatural experience. The darker the night the brighter the day!

    Don’t give up!

Remember what the Prophet said “Wagons are loaded and headed this way!”

  15. 5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

Even when we thing we are all lifeless inside of us and we can’t do anything. God can bring back life into us and give us a second chance! 🙂
What an awesome God we serve!!!

  16. 10 So I spoke the message as he commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet—a great army. (NLT)

When I read this verse I thought of the song we sing that says, “There’s an army rising up. . . To break every chain.” God is breathing life back into dry bones, He desires to raise an army of lively, on fire children of God. We must let Him sweep us away into His spirit and allow Him to use us as He used Ezekiel.

  17. This chapter illustrates greatness. The magnitude of God’s (Jesus) power was demonstrated. The greatness of God’s power is still demonstrated today, and all the more in his midst; “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  18. 12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

There are times in our lives situations and opportunities seem dead to us. But trust in The Lord and allow the Man of God to speak into our lives and see the dead situations turn around and see God breath life back into.

…………………………….they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? -Luke 24:5

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: -John 20:22

  19. 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

Obedience is just as powerful as great faith, but when you put the two together miracles are generated. Ezekiel didn’t know at first but he was obedient. His faith fallowed in his actions. Sometimes you have step out on the word of God before you know the outcome.

Abraham left his home without knowing his destination, and then led his promise up the mountain to kill him without knowing the outcome.

Noah built the ark when he had never seen rain.

Peter walked out on the water without seeing anything to step on.

All on the word of God.

Obedience builds your faith. God tests our faith through our obedience.

  20. Intersession

1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

When will we reach the point where the Spirit of the Lord is upon us, and takes us over in the spirit, to set us down in the valley of dry bones that they might live?

God give us a burden of intercession. When we get that down, revival will follow.

  21. And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord. (Ezekiel 37:14 KJV)

Thankful for His spirit. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

  22. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

I love this chapter in the bible it talks about a situation that looks dry and desolate that God breathes life into, its about a hopeless situation made hopeful, its about God being God. This chapter shows how great and mighty God is and that no matter how bad a situation looks God is in control!

  23. 1. The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, Ezekiel 1 : 3 The word of the LORD cameexpressly unto E – zek’ – el the priest, the son of Bu’ – zi, in the land of the Chal – de’ -ans by the river Che’ bar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him. 2. And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. 3. And he said unto me, SON of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O LORD GOD, thou knowest. 4. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5. Thus saith the LORD GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: Dry bones that came to life !!

  24. Open Graves

3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.

4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

Sometimes in life there are things we thought would live yet we saw them die. Maybe a dream or a promise seemingly forgotten, long buried in the ground. Perhaps we already have the eulogy written and read and pursue peace in our hearts over what is seemingly lost. Yet there are times God has a different word than just another epitaph.

Jesus can open the grave to things we already gave up hope on, things we wrote off as a loss and put in the ground. He can turn around a bleak situation and turn it into the fulfillment of promise, the place of provision and blessing.

    John 12:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

The place of death may seem like a mistake but perhaps it’s right where God can work with it as He desires. We must trust Him and surrender control and allow Him to write (or rewrite) the story as He sees fit.

    Ecclesiastes 3:11
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time…

  25. Ezekiel’s next vision takes him to a valley full of dried-up human bones- a gruesome picture, but one with a beautiful outcome. These dried-up, old bones represent the spiritual condition of Israel. Their hope is gone. They living in exile, as compared to living dead. No I don’t mean zombies- I mean someone spiritual dead, disconnected from God’s presence. At this point of history Jerusalem is destroyed, the temple is gone. It is hard for them to imagine that God will ever restore them as a nation. Ezekiel’s vision reveals to them the promise of the future. With a “breath” (vs10) the dry bones rattle together and grow muscle and tendon and flesh, becoming living human beings once again. Just as God can raise dead bones to life, His people must believe He can raise their nation again to life and restore them to their homeland- and to himself. Thank you Jesus for your breath of life- Holy Spirit that brings us to life today.

In their future restoration, divided Israel will be reunited under one king. Since the reign of Rehoboam, Solomon’s son. Israel has been divided into two rival nations, Israel (also known as Ephraim, as in this passage) and Judah (1 Ki 12:16-17). Under the Mesiah, her final and forever King, this new spiritual Israel will be one nation, as Ezekiel’s image of two joined sticks illustrates (Eze 37: 16-17). Under their king, the “Israel of God” (Gal 6:16) , made up of both Jews and Gentiles, will finally be the nation God had originally called them to be- a holy people, fully commited to Him.

  26. Without God there would be no existence. All in the world is His and we should never are adavantage of it. God desires to raise an army from His people so we can fight for the lost and bring His children home!

  27. Thank you Lord for the Holy spirit that lives in me, It’s evident in this chapter that God wants his people in unity. That there is hope and life everlasting for those that persue and obey his commands. Through God all things are possible. I seek you Lord.

  28. Thank you god cause without you I’m nothing empty and broken and if I didn’t have your helping hand I don’t know what I’d do I love you daddy
