Ezekiel 39

1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:

3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.

4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.

5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.

6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.

8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:

10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God.

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.

12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord God.

14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.

15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.

16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.

17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.

18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.

19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.

20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord God.

21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.

23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.

24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.

25 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;

26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.

27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;

28 Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.

29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

  1. Pour out your Spirit, Oh Lord…As Sampson said. Oh Lord, one more time……

    “Keep your Place”……………………

  2. 21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.

    MY GLORY

The Lord will show his glory to everyone even the heathen. God will make himself known to all the world! Everyone will see the judgement of God and know when God has laid his hand upon them.
Once again God moves for the nation of Israeli and reminds them that he is the Lord of all.
We should all realize that God will show his GLORY when he is ready and for whatever reason he wants. He wants to show himself as God and we should be ready for what he does for us!

  3. ALL VICTORIES TO HIS GLORY

12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord God.

We are Victorious thanks to Jesus!!!! Everything, every battle, every casualty, every victory over the enemy is to HIS GLORY and to HIS GLORY alone. 7 months, the number 7 represent completeness. 7 months of cleansing the land. The victory is so large that it will take 7 months to bury the dead. 7 months and God’s Restoration of Israel will be complete. ALL HONOR, ALL GLORY, ALL PRAISE BELONGS TO JESUS.

  4. UNDERSTANDING BONDAGE

Great revelation we find in this chapter in regards to how and why people find themselves in a perpetual state or condition of BONDAGE.

BONDAGE – a state of being bound usually by compulsion

Compulsive, selfish, fleshly desires repeated are the pathway to and source to BONDAGE. We learn here from the WORD of the LORD through iniquity, sin, disobedience and rebellion that the people of GOD are taken captive and as the LORD turns HIS face from the sins of man that the enemy takes over the life of man, resulting in BONDAGE or slavery to a habit or sin, whether attitude or action that is very challenging to break free from.

  5. 22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.

He is the Lotd my God. As the psalmist said. As for me and my house, we will serve The Lord.

  6. Verses 21-22 AMP “And I will manifest My honor and glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see My judgment and justice [in the punishment] which I have executed and My hand which I have laid on them. So the house of Israel shall know, understand, and realize beyond all question that I am the Lord their God from that day forward.”

Psalm 46:10 NLT “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

  7. 21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.

He is a Mighty God!!! To pour out his Holy Spirit and lay his Holy Hand on his people! 🙂

  8. 21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

God will not look away when we do wrong. He wants us to repent of our evil ways and do what is right.

  9. Everyone in Israel will help, for it will be a glorious victory for Israel when I demonstrate my glory on that day, says the Sovereign Lord. Eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of princes as though they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls—all fattened animals from Bashan! “In this way, I will demonstrate my glory to the nations. Everyone will see the punishment I have inflicted on them and the power of my fist when I strike. And from that time on the people of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God. The nations will then know why Israel was sent away to exile—it was punishment for sin, for they were unfaithful to their God. Therefore, I turned away from them and let their enemies destroy them. I turned my face away and punished them because of their defilement and their sins. (Ezekiel 39:13, 18, 21-24 NLT)
No matter how one chooses to live his/ her life, GOD will alway be glorified!!!

  10. 25 “So now, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will end the captivity of my people; I will have mercy on all Israel, for I jealously guard my holy reputation!
26 They will accept responsibility for their past shame and unfaithfulness after they come home to live in peace in their own land, with no one to bother them.
27 When I bring them home from the lands of their enemies, I will display my holiness among them for all the nations to see.
28 Then my people will know that I am the Lord their God, because I sent them away to exile and brought them home again. I will leave none of my people behind.
29 And I will never again turn my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit upon the people of Israel. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!” (NLT)

  11. This chapter illustrates statement. God’s (Jesus) intent with Gog was to make a statement; “So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward”. There will be no doubt in one’s mind when God, makes a statement. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. To see His face!!

These two verses make me think about heaven. In heaven, we will be transformed into his image, and we will see His face. Never again will the children of God have to go without seeing Christ.

  13. All God wants is for us to turn away from evil and give our all to God!
Lord search in me and remove anything that is unpleasing in your eyes.

  14. iLove to eat the Word

29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

I thank the Lord that he gives His people chances to repent and get their lives right. The quickest way to get the Saviors attention is to worship him.

  15. 20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord God.

  16. 6. And I will send a fire on Ma’-gog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD. 7. So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Is’-ra-el; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD,the Ho’-ly One in Is’-ra-el. Gog’s Army Destroyed by the LORD

  17. 21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

    Make it plain…

God wanted to make sure everyone know who He was and that he executed judgement on those who disobeyed Him… even on his own people. Verse 22 says it perfectly: “Isreal shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day foward”…

  18. Sanctification

14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.

Sanctification is a process. Even with men specifically employed for the task in addition to the whole nation working at it, the purification of Israel was still going to span many months. When we think of our lives and walk with God, our own purification or sanctification is a process as well that involves not only our commitment but that of the church and the ministry working together to see us as part of the body of Christ be edified. It’s said it takes a village to raise a child; well, it takes a church to raise a saint. And this side of eternity, all of us need help in the process of becoming sanctified, or being a saint (“sanctified one.”)

While we must not be lax, we must still be willing to give ourselves grace in the process. We all struggle and fail at times, we all have times we just need encouragement and help getting up, we all have faults and blind spots that aren’t worked out yet… As we go through the process, we must love ourselves with a godly love which includes allowing others to love us as well. No man is an island unto himself; there are no lone ranger Christians.

Our sanctification has to do with our individual walk with God but in the bigger picture is about the sanctification and preparation of the Bride of Christ as a whole to meet her Bridegroom. Our vision is small if we see victory as limited to the personal level. Corporate victory is important to the church as we are all to be united together as one body, and so our personal level victories are not discounted but vital in the scope of corporate victory.

We can go to heaven maimed, but wouldn’t we prefer to go whole? We should be our “brother’s keeper” that the Bride might meet her Bridegroom whole and not missing parts of her body, and likewise we should allow others to help us in walking victorious.

We must remember sanctification is a process, and one we are not meant to walk through alone.

    Ephesians 4:7-16
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

  19. The slaughter of Gog is so massive that it takes 7 months to bury the fallen after vultures have feasted. God intends his judgement to serve as an example of his glory for Israel and punishment for sin to the other nations. He intends Israel to plunder the dead who intended the same for them! Their weapons of war are now fuel. With God we have an Advocate, a protector & provider! When Israel accepts responsibility for their sins God is ready to restore. He restores us still today. I confess my faults & sins today that I may receive restoration.

  20. On Numbers 6 there is a blessing prayed upon the children of Israel

Numbers 6:25-26 the Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

In this chapter we see how God hid His face from them.

Inequity, sin, transgression, trespass, uncleaness is what causes the Lord to hide His face. To me this is that they lost attention and favor. A sense of I’m no longer there when you need something. This is a dangerous place to be in; however the word does tell us that God does not listen to sinners but if any man be a worshiper of God and does His will, him He hears. Getting back your praise will get God’s attention and look your way.

  21. 3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out

God us taking away their might and their strategies. When we go against God, he always tries to get you to see the truth before he punishes.

  22. Judgment Supper

Ezekiel continues his depiction of judgment on those who have ignored God’s call to repentance with a gory discription of the carnage that will take place. Ezekiel calls the slaughter of that day a “great sacrifice” (vs17), one that the animals of the earth and the birds of the air are called to eat. Those killed are not weaklings but strong soldiers and princes, which Ezekiel reveals by comparing them to the well-fed animals that are raised on the plains of Bashan (vs18). A similar slaughter and feast also takes place in Revelation 19:11-21, where birds of prey are invited to feast on the “flesh” (Rev 19:18) of those who have fought against God and His purpose and been defeated. The similarities of these two chapters depict te fulfillment of Ezekiel in Revelation, and both in the future at the second coming of Jesus.
