Ezekiel 40

1 In the five and twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in the selfsame day the hand of the Lord was upon me, and brought me thither.

2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.

5 And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

6 Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.

7 And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed.

8 He measured also the porch of the gate within, one reed.

9 Then measured he the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was inward.

10 And the little chambers of the gate eastward were three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and on that side.

11 And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.

12 The space also before the little chambers was one cubit on this side, and the space was one cubit on that side: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.

13 He measured then the gate from the roof of one little chamber to the roof of another: the breadth was five and twenty cubits, door against door.

14 He made also posts of threescore cubits, even unto the post of the court round about the gate.

15 And from the face of the gate of the entrance unto the face of the porch of the inner gate were fifty cubits.

16 And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windows were round about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.

17 Then brought he me into the outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the pavement.

18 And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement.

19 Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.

20 And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.

21 And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.

22 And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.

23 And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.

24 After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.

25 And there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.

26 And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.

27 And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.

28 And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measures;

29 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.

30 And the arches round about were five and twenty cubits long, and five cubits broad.

31 And the arches thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof: and the going up to it had eight steps.

32 And he brought me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according to these measures.

33 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, were according to these measures: and there were windows therein and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.

34 And the arches thereof were toward the outward court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.

35 And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it according to these measures;

36 The little chambers thereof, the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, and the windows to it round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.

37 And the posts thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.

38 And the chambers and the entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.

39 And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering.

40 And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables.

41 Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.

42 And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.

43 And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.

44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.

45 And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.

46 And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to theLord to minister unto him.

47 So he measured the court, an hundred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad, foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.

48 And he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.

49 The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits, and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.

    VISIONS OF GOD

We should always be ready to see the visions that God will give us. Visions are not for entertainment, but let us see what God will do for his people. God loves everyone, but will always be on his people’s side and will let us know through his prophets what he has in store for his people.
There is always a reason for a vision! I pray God would let us see the vision of POFW and what he has in store for his people.

  2. It’s time to restore the temple

As a read this chapter it is made clear that our God is a God of order and details. To walk Ezekiel to every detail of how the temple must be restore can only lead us to His divine order.
1 Cor 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
In the same way, the restoration of our spiritual temple must take place.
God gave us those instructions on Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Our God made everything simple, clear, and in order; it is us as humans that like to complicate things. May the truth be cleared for everyone and may their spiritual temple be restored. In Jesus Name AMEN

The Prophetic 3rd Temple upon Mount Moriah.

2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

God wants his house upon the hill where everyone can see the light. It is the will of God for The Pentecostals of Fort Worth to be built upon a hill where all can see it.

  4. In reading verses 1-4 in this chapter, it reminded me that everything is in God’s time and order. Sometimes we pray and ask for God’s will in our lives and then we question it. I was reminded of this when we moved down here to Texas. I had already made up in my mind that we were suppose to raise our girls in Kansas. The Lord had other plans and here we are. I thank God for his protective hand over us and leading us to the place where he wanted us. I have seen my girls grow and mature into God loving servants, I thank the Lord for that. God has a divine plan for each and everyone one of us, if we will listen and obey. God brought Ezekiel to the place where he wanted him. I believe that he has brought each and every family at POFW where he wants them. Now like Ezekiel, we must declare to all as verse 4 said “And the man said to me, Son of man, look with your eyes and hear with your ears and set your heart and mind on all that I will show you, for you are brought here that I may show them to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”

  5. PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS

4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.

Common is the mistakes of miscalculation, because of miscommunication. There are 3 major keys to revelation and fulfillment of a VISION we find them identified here in verse 4.

WATCH – behold with thine eyes
LISTEN – hear with thine ears
UNDERSTAND – set thine heart upon

Most people are fairly faithful in the WATCH and LISTEN stage, but lack in the UNDERSTAND stage. This gives only a partial VISION because we don’t know why. UNDERSTANDING is only found through revelation (GOD revealing HIS plan to man) revelation is only found through seeking (asking GOD in prayer and looking for the answer in HIS WORD).

In building a building, missing 1 small detail, or measuring 1 board wrong can ruin the entire building. 1 simple miscalculation causes great effect of misguided measurements and then guessing takes over.

PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS and BUILD a great house for the LORD to dwell in.

1Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    The word “temple” means “palace”

The PLACE where the LORD GOD reigns from.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  6. God cares about the specifics in every situation. Everything in this chapter was measured. He gives specific detail, and desires that every “i” be dotted and every “t” be crossed as laid out in the Word. We can’t pick and choose which parts of the bible we will accept or be obedient to. Every detail in the Word of God is given for instruction, reproof, encouragement, salvation etc. We must adhere to every commandment and do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.

    Isaiah 28:10
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

  7. On the physical, the building was beautiful. There are some great images on Google if you google Ezekiel 40. (This is the best I found… http://www.bibliaprints.com/freemedia/posters/ch40%20hi-res.jpg) Everything is square and measured precisely. I can only imagine a building of this magnitude…

On the spiritual side, Israel had sinned; repeatedly. The Lord judged, punished and is now restoring. If we find ourselves having fallen (Romans 3:23) and get back up, (Proverbs 24:16) isn’t it awesome there is a plan for our restoration! I have found in my world travels that if I lose my way around a particular city and consider myself lost; I will work my way back to familiar location/area and start from again. The Lord works in similar ways. Jeremiah 8:4 “Jeremiah, say to the people, ‘This is what the LORD says: “‘When people fall down, don’t they get up again? When they discover they’re on the wrong road, don’t they turn back?” NLT.

  8. While some object to such literal approach in interpreting this and other prophetic passages ther are abundant clues in the chapter thim selves that this is intened. For instance Ezekiel is told to wright down details of the temple plane and worship regulations to informe the house of Israel so that they may be faithful to its desighns aqnd follow all its regulations.

  9. 4 And the man said to me, Son of man, look with your eyes and hear with your ears and set your heart and mind on all that I will show you, for you are brought here that I may show them to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel. (AMP)

This chapter was so detailed. Sometimes we just need to pay close attention to what God is trying to show us, would hate to miss it!

  10. Having the right tools.

3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

God gave us the right tools to use for His kingdom. Just as with any tool, we must learn how to use them in the right manner. My prayer is that God would help us to use the tools that He gave us, in the best way.

  11. This chapter illustrates attentiveness. His focus was required; “And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel”. One must be as attentive too what sayeth the word of God (Jesus), and man of God. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  12. Ezekiel 40 has got my mind imagining and dreaming of “Impacting our Future Together”. What is the new building for the Pentecostals of Fort Worth going to looking like? What details does God have in mind for his people (the region of Fort Worth) to restore their relationship with Him?

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10 KJV)

    IMPACTING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER!!!
    Imagine Creatively
    Invest Sacrificially
    Impact Eternally

  13. Where the worshippers live

41 Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.

44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.

Right next to the hewn stone that held the carcasses of dead animals, right by the flesh hooks, and the instruments of death, just inside the inner court was a building. This was the dining room of the singers. The place of the worshippers. This was the place where they practiced, prepared, and worked toward perfecting music to the glory of God. This was near the blood, the stench, and the gore of the altar.

How fitting of a description of a true worshipper. Those who truly lift up the Lord bring themselves down in humility. Those who work to magnify him will minimize self. The place of sacrifice is close to the abode of the singers because this is the only way that a singer, or worshipper can live for God untainted by the world.

A worshipper exudes whatever is within them to the congregation. This is why it is so important that rebellion, and worldliness be far removed so that it doesn’t taint the atmosphere. This is best done through a close relationship with the altar.

  14. The NLT shows that Ezekiel was shown what resembled a city. There is a wall completely surrounding the Temple area. Ezekiel was to pay close attention to what he was shown: watch & listen so that he could return to the people of Israel & tell them everything he had seen. There were so many details of the construction that he was responsible to convey to them-measurements that had to be precise. Also room interiors that were also to be precise. What a heavy responsibility lay on Ezekiel. This same responsibiliy also falls upon our Pastor to preach the word he receives from the Lord without changing it. We must hold up our Pastor & leadership so that the construction of our temple -in word & spirit- is what God desires.

  15. iLove to eat the Word for Lunch

2 In the visions of God… there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

These scriptures are truly amazing for they prophesy of the future temple that will be built in our lifetime. In Ezekiel’s vision, he looks into the 21st century and sees what you and I will soon see. When the Jewish temple is rebuilt, it will be another great fulfilment of scripture. This angel of the Lord gives us the exact measurements.

  16. If in this chapter precise measurements are taken for a reason. Building a house for The Lord needs to be right, just as He is calling it to be.
The same with me in the spiritual side. 1. Am I measured out in who He has intended for me to be…. Living life of obedience to His Word.
    2. If so His word, cleanses me, it allows me to grow in Him. Then it’s when I must be a sacrifice. In Worship, in Praise.
    3. So that His Spirit can Dwell in me.

🎶 Not just a temple these hands have made, building you a house of praise.
Built for Your Glory, for Your excellent name. 🎶

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:16 KJV)

  17. God is very particular about his courts, and is precise in all measurements. He is a God of order. No wonder our Pastor, is passionate about how our new Church will be setup.

    “Keep your Place”…….

  18. Pastor has a vision for this church that God is ready to show some of us. We need to be ready to accept the buskin that God allows us to see!
God place in me a burden for the vision of my pastor!

  19. What is a vision?
the faculty or state of being able to see.

an experience of seeing someone or something in a dream or trance, or as a supernatural apparition.

What is your vision today? I have a vision that my father and lost family members will turn their hearts back to God.

  20. The detail of the vision gives us a parallel into how we should measure ourselves, the temple of God.
Front to back, side to side and top to bottom, inside and out. The detail that goes into building the temple of God cannot be overlooked. As we look at our lives are we challenged to measure up to his standards. He is the great architect and he expects his temple to meet his vision. The only way to see the blueprints of our lives is to first meet the architect. Then we have to ask the architect to show us his plan. It’s hard to build without a plan. Let’s go to man who drew the blueprint and build.

  21. 4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.

It is important to not only see with our eyes & to hear with our ears but to understanding the plan and purpose of God.

How can we fulfill the will of God without know his plan for us. It is not enough to know that he has a plan, we’ve got know what are the plans.

The combination of the word of God & prayer will lay out the plan before us.

  22. 4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.

    A God of order…
In the verses after this one you see God has very detailed explanation of the building plans and its done exactly the way he wants it. This shows me that God cares about the details and is paticular about some things. Its our responsibility to make sure we obey God’s orders.

  23. Taken to the mountain

2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

The hand of the Lord came upon the prophet and brought him to a mountain in a vision. It’s time to get the hand of the Lord moving. It is time to pray, not time to just pray, but to really pray.

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans NLT

    Joel 2:28 “And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions. NLT

  24. The fact that Ezekiel would spend so much space describing the temple indicates its importance, Actually, upwards of 50 chapters in the Bible are devoted to desciptions of the tabernacle and various temples. In the Book of Ezekiel, however, the prophet shows clearly that the tragic departure of God’s glory from the temple , described in chapters 10 and 11, is reversed in the future temple when the Spirit returns(43:1-12) and fills with glory. God
is not finished with His people. They will yet see His glory.

  25. Building The House

As all the specific dimensions were mentioned, it reminded me of how purposeful God is and how He carefully orchestrates even the most minute details for His plans. In this chapter, Exekiel got to see many unappreciated details highlighted that went into the big picture of what he saw.

He got a glimpse into what it means to let the Lord build the house. God’s blueprints are not lacking; He has every last detail accounted for. When we allow Him to exact His plans, from the picture right down to the smallest of details, we will find ourselves with a structure of craftsmanship that no man can rival. Trusting God and walking in faith means letting Him take care of even the little details.

    Psalms 127:1
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

    1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

  26. As I read this the words that come to mind over and over are detailed, precision, and order. We are shown how God gives Ezekiel a vision. Are we willing to recieve the vision. God can give the what, how, and when.

2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

Could it be that His plans for our lives are set out but He is waiting for us to watch and listen?

  27. 44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.

  28. Following God’s plan all the way through is the only way we will be able to make it to heaven. Don’t let the enemy deceive you into thinking there is another way. It’s God’s way or it’s a dead end.

  29. GOD is very specific about everything just like he wants us to be too. And perfect to follow him all the way,, and see , and listen, pay attention so we will be on the straight and narrow to build our relationship with him even more precise.

  30. Palm Tree Decorations

Palm trees are tropical trees that grow in some of Israel’s warmer areas. The city of Jericho was known as “the city of palms.” (Dt 34:3)
Solomon decorated the walls of the temple with carved palm trees that had been carefully covered with beaten gold (1 Ki 6:29-35). Ezekiel describes in this chapter a number of places in the temple of his vision where palm trees are used to decorations. Deborah judged under a palm tree (Jdg 4:5)
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the Jews praising Him carried palm braches and shouted and cried out praises to Him (Jn 12:13). Revelation depicts another celebration of Jesus in which the participants carry palm branches (Rev 7:9).
The significance of the use of palm trees in the temple and the branches is praise. We don’t need to have palm trees to signify that we are praising God, now we have the gift of the Holy Ghost. When you have the Spirit of the Lord living inside of you, you cannot help but praise Him, it is what he designed us to do. In the vision Ezekiel is showing him, is depicting to me the type and antitype of what he wants us, His temples to be filled with. Keep fresh palm trees of praise in your temples.
