Daniel 8

1 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

2 And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.

12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

  1. I have through the years heard many opinions of what this dream means and whether the saints of God will face the great tribulation!
I know my God can do anything and i believe he can keep me through anything, but he is a sovern God whatsoever he moves will move. JESUS does not have to wait on anyone for anything, if he decides he wants to appear in the eastern clouds today, i believe he can. I also believe if he wants to wait three and one half or seven years he can, he will always take care of the saints of the most high God
So my advice is become a saint!

  2. 8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days

Rev. 22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

Rev.1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein for the time is at hand.

  3. 11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down. KJV

11 It even dared to challenge the power of God, Prince of the Celestial Army! And then it threw out daily worship and desecrated the Sanctuary. MSG

If that does not grab your attention, nothing will. In thinking of this, there is nothing in my mind that can take away my daily prayer and worship. My relationship with the Lord is paramount. In the end times, it may become illegal to gather and worship in a traditional sanctuary but according to 1 Corinthians 3…

16-17 You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred—and you, remember, are the temple. MSG

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. KJV

  4. Destruction by Peace

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

War is not the only thing that can destroy; peace can destroy… When people compromise they believes, lower their values and standards, and tolerate the intolerable for peace sake; the only result can be destruction. Don’t believe me? Look at our great country! We got to be who we were because of our moral standards, because we founded this nation under the law of God. Now, look at it, really look at it, without the idealistic ideas, and dream of grandeur. What do you see? Children killing children. Children killing their parents. Arguments and debates over Christianity offending others. Where are we going to end? I seek shelter under His Grace, His Shield of Protection, His Law, & His Love. For He is the only one that can raise a temple in 3 days after is destroyed.

  5. MSG – 8-12 “Then the billy goat swelled to an enormous size. At the height of its power its immense horn broke off and four other big horns sprouted in its place, pointing to the four points of the compass. And then from one of these big horns another horn sprouted. It started small, but then grew to an enormous size, facing south and east—toward lovely Palestine. The horn grew tall, reaching to the stars, the heavenly army, and threw some of the stars to the earth and stomped on them. It even dared to challenge the power of God, Prince of the Celestial Army! And then it threw out daily worship and desecrated the Sanctuary. As judgment against their sin, the holy people of God got the same treatment as the daily worship. The horn cast God’s Truth aside. High-handed, it took over everything and everyone.

There is a sad day coming when christianity will be opposed and if the rapture doesn’t place before tribulation, worship in a public place and desecration of the sanctuary will happen. We must be prepared. We must hide the word of God in our heart so that when we don’t physically have our bibles, we will continue to grew in knowledge and understanding. We must our special time with the Lord a sanctuary so if we are not allowed to worship together as a family our relationship with the Lord doesn’t suffer. Daniel was shown these things for a warning of preparation. We must not be taken off guard because destruction in the end is coming. PREPARE. Don’t be caught off guard.

  6. 10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.

I dint know if we will foo through the tribulation or not but we should all prepare for it by putting God’s Word in our hearts. I know about plenty of dreams and other things that are warnings to this generation of God’s people. We have to stand firm on the rock thatisJesus Christ and not be moved. We must keep eternity as our goal!

  7. What a vision. . . we must continue to trust God and keep His commandments and word in our hearts. Stay strong in God and never turn away because He can come at any moment!

  8. Now is not the time to turn away from God. In the times of trouble run to God for comfort and peace.
God I pray that when trouble arises I run to you so that you can wrap me in your arms!

  9. With great vision comes great responsibility.

As I was reading this chapter the thought of ,”How interesting it must be to have such visions.” Then I realized that we have seen many of these visions come to pass. With out vision there is no life. It is hard to see where you are going without vision. As we will read on, we will see that God has a plan for the end of man. Thank God for the vision.

  11. A vision, but no understanding…

There may be a time where God shows you something and there is no understanding to it. Don’t be deceived, just because you don’t understand what God has brought to your attention doesn’t mean it’s not important. We should heed every warning or vision God sends our way. If God is trying to get a message across, you better believe it is of the utmost importance.

  12. 27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

God has given many people vision yet they drawn in the details. They waste all their time trying to figure out when, where, and how; and mss the fact that God spoke it and His Word is settled. Then there are others that God speak to and they jus sit and wait. Daniel was neither of these he got and went on about his day all the while knowing something great had been shown to him.

  13. 25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

The Endtime plan of the devil will be his most intense attack. Every bit of knowledge and power he can utilize will be put in play to come against God and his people. The dark thoughts of thousands of years will come to a head.

Yet in the end it will never scratch the service of the power of God. This passage tells of a terrible time, but God knows that we have nothing to fear.

  14. THE WEIGHT OF GLORY

27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

True SPIRITUAL activity is physically and emotionally taxing, because of the connection to both kingdoms. This world and Heavenly PLACES. What is often is even more taxing is the fact that nobody understands what is happening.

We learn here the extreme importance of praying for those in Spiritual Authority. I thank GOD and each of you for your faithful prayers.

GOD Bless each of you is my daily prayer.

    iRepent
    iPraise

  15. ILove to eat the Word

(Article on Internet to help shed light on history)
Daniel sees a ram come up to the river which had two horns. One horn was higher than the others. The horn in Eastern culture is symbolic of power and royalty. The two horns represent the Persian period beginning with the power being shared between Media in the north and Persia in the south. However, in the time of Cyrus the Great, the Persians became the dominate power and the Median influenced faded out of the picture. Thus, the first horn was Darius the Mede and the second and greater horn was Cyrus, king of Persia. (Daniel 8:3)

The ram pushing westward was the Persian king, Cyrus who with his great military power conquered westward the countries of Babylon, Mesopotamia, Syria, Asia Minor. Northward he overcame Colchis, Armenia, Iberia, and the dwellers on the Caspian Sea. Cyrus’s southward victories referred to Judea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya; also India, under Darius. Daniel does not mention eastward, for the Persians themselves came from the east. 2

The He-Goat, Alexander the Great and the Grecian Empire
    (Daniel 8:5-7)
Daniel next sees a male goat which comes for the west and goes across the whole earth. The swiftness of his covering the earth is such that it appears he does not touch the ground. This male or he-goat has the notable characteristic of having a horn between his eyes. Looking back in history we know this male goat was the Greek Empire (Macedonia) lead by Alexander the Great. In a short twelve years Alexander, appeared destroying the Persians and overrunning and conquering most of the known world. The mention of the ram standing by the river refers to the River Granicus where Alexander, defeated Daruis in 334 BC. The reference to Greece as a goat probably refers to Caranus, the first king of Macedonia, was said to have been led by goats to Edessa, which he made the seat of his kingdom, and called ?e, that is, “goat-city.” 3

The Fall of Alexander the Great and the Dividing of the Greek Empire
    (Daniel 8:8)
This prophecy is given with incredible detail written hundreds of years before these events took place. Daniel predicts the death of Alexander and the dividing up of his Empire between his four generals. Although Alexander grew to be the most powerful man on earth to this time, he died. He was not yet thirty two years old, and as the result of his sinful life style he died in 332 BC. Although Alexander was a powerful military leader, who some say was the greatest the world has known, he did not organize and consolidate his conquered nations into a strong Empire. Thus at his death his generals began to vie power for themselves. In less than fifteen months Alexander’s half brother and his two sons were murdered leaving Empire without a leader.

  16. God definately has lots of ways to get our attention but he leaves it up to us to decide if were going to do what is right. We have to keep our focus on him even when we go thru our trials and in tune for the things of God so we wont be caught unaware when the rapture takes place.

  17. Truth

15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

Circumstances may be beyond our natural understanding but God can speak and open our understanding to His truth. Life is full of questions but Jesus gives us the answer as He reveals Himself to us. Our perceptions can get us in trouble and lead us into deception, but we can trust God to give us truth. Seeking Him in all things invites Him to be our Light that will overcome any darkness. Truth speaks, what will we do with the opportunity?

    Daniel 9:13
As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.

    Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
5 Trust in the L ord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

    Proverbs 2:1-11
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. 9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. 10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee

  18. 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

The rise of the antichrist is shown here but so is his fall. Only God can bring him down in his own timing. Just as God provided for Moses & the children of Israel as they wandered in the desert, our God will provide for his people in this time too. His promises are still yeah & amen during the reign of the antichrist.

  19. This chapter illustrates sight. A vision appeared unto Daniel of what was to come. Whereas the word of God (Jesus) has also been given so that one can know what is to come, if one will but read. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  20. Wow what a dream and vision… This should shake anybody up. Now not for Daniels time but look around now? It says here many things that will happen in the end times. I imagine the picture wasnt pretty Daniel was sick from such for several days. How graphic could it have been that his eyes and mind could not process such vision and be at peace? Idk what will come of the end, but of the things that I know will be important is to guard our relationship with the Lord His Word in our hearts, that we may always know to lift up an altar anywhere. He promises he would take care of His saints, we must know the promises, the power and authority we posses, we must know His Word to know Him, that we may not perished or be deceived in the last days

  21. 19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

  22. 16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. 17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (John 8:58 KJV)

All the prophets have a vision of the same man, Christ Jesus. Before Jesus made his spirit available to us there was only one man who had the authority to command the angels. He is the God of angel armies.

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (James 2:19 KJV)

That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. (Isaiah 45:6 KJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1 KJV)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 KJV)

It was never a mystery to anyone that there was one God.

  23. 27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

Daniel did the king’s business. He didn’t stop his daily jobs even when he was talking and getting visions from God. We have to keep on doing what we have to do, don’t quit! Never stop and never give up.

  24. Have you ever had a moment where you dreamed of something and then later it came to pass? Unbelievers will ask you what proof there is God, and God gives us the answer that we can give those for those who do not belief.

He shows himself in our rested subconscious, showing us details of the future and giving people prophecies. It allows God to proof his existence to people without a shadow of a doubt. And then it becomes up to the people on whether they want to choose to believe the undeniable truth of the Creator of the Universe.

  25. Down to the “T”

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

The cleansing of the sanctuary took place three years and two months after the Lord’s altar had been removed by Antiochus. “Days” is literally “evenings and mornings”. Thus the time elapsed was actually 1,150 days.

Verse 26 gives a reference to that.

26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

I believe God wants to use us to speak into peoples lives down to the very last detail. We live in a society that really has no regard for God. People are blind. A demonstration of the power of Jesus Christ is what those who are bound in false doctrine need to see in order to take a second glance at truth. For me, it was tongues. In the times that we are approaching, it will be miracles, signs and wonders.
