Micah 1

1 The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

8 Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.

9 For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.

10 Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.

11 Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.

12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the Lord unto the gate of Jerusalem.

13 O thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in thee.

14 Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.

15 Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.

16 Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.

  1. Listen, people—all of you. Listen, earth, and everyone in it: The Master, God, takes the witness stand against you, the Master from his Holy Temple. Look, here he comes! God, from his place! He comes down and strides across mountains and hills. Mountains sink under his feet, valleys split apart; The rock mountains crumble into gravel, the river valleys leak like sieves. All this because of Jacob’s sin, because Israel’s family did wrong. You ask, “So what is Jacob’s sin?” Just look at Samaria—isn’t it obvious? And all the sex-and-religion shrines in Judah— isn’t Jerusalem responsible? (Micah 1:2-5 MSG)
When you play with fire(sin) you will get burned! So many people are not taking life seriously. But there is a day that is coming…..
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (Revelation 22:10-17 KJV)

  2. you givin us examples people infront if us to show us your real dreams mericals so much but were to stubborn to realize..healed us saved us and much more chances after chances LORD thank you so much i overcame & worship you i owe my owe my life to you..tyj

  3. 9. For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah;
he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.

We can’t let our wounds affect our praise.

  4. 3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

The commandments of God are clear thou shalt have no gods before me. The children of Israeli came from Egypt where idol worship was a way of life. Many people today still worship idols, in a lot of third world countries it is the way of life for them. Vodoo is even saw in the USA as people are worshippers of satan.
God has said here he would come down and tread upon the high places, places of worship for idol gods. We must not allow something else be God of our life. No we do not worship the sun, moon or stars, but could allow ourselves to be ruled by other things. We need to look at our lives and see what is in our hearts and if we need to allow God to have a part of our life we have kept back.
We do not need the curse of God on our lives, but the love of God surrounding us.

  5. 3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

    How awesome is our God!

What a tragedy when we are on the receiving end of his wrath and judgement.

Yet when we are loving him and keeping his commandments he brings that exact same awesome power to our situation.

There is nothing God cannot handle!

  6. In reading this chapter, accountability comes to mind. Judgment will come and we will have the responsibility of answering for our lives/actions.

1 John 4:7-10 MSG says “My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.” Now is the time to repent and come back to God if you have let sin damage your relationship with Him.

  7. Down With the Idols!
Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof. And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot. (Micah 1:6, 7 KJV)

God is jealous God. We should only seek after him or he will become angry. We should love The Lord with all our hearts. What we love is what we seek after. SEEK HIM!!!

  8. SANTO SANTO SANTO!!!
2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
    NO-ONE IS EXEMPT!!!
JESUS I PRAISE YOU!!! I MAGNIFY YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!
I NEED THEE, THEE OOOO I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR, I NEED THEE,….. THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR PRESENCE, YOU ARE MIGHTY AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  9. 3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

Time and time again sin seems to deal with elevating some sort of idol, whether it is a graven image or just the rebellion of ones own will.
Reverence, admiration, respect, honor, pretty much to exalt all of these exist in the meaning of worship. We must be careful to allow anything to exalt itself above Jesus in our lives. This leads me to make for myself this questions: what takes up my time talent and treasure which are things I can offer the Lord? Where is my priority going to? What do I esteem, treasure, or value the most? I have to remember that our God is a jealous God and a consuming fire as well as the very essence of Love. There is a second coming, and He will come with might power and glory. What will he find me doing? It is good to take the example of the scripture. We will not be able to use the excuse, but you didn’t warn me, I never got a word from the Lord. We have one every time we open the scriptures. In it we will find life, direction, comfort, strength, faith, warning, ways of provision, all we need to live life and make it to heaven. Basic instructions before leaving earth. Thank you Lord for your Word.

  10. The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

Listen to God and obey sometimes we hear but we don’t obey.it is better to obey than to sacrifice

  11. 2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

Don’t just be hearers of the Word ,but doers. No one got anything done by just laying around waiting. Get up and do. Do the Word. Be the light. Be the Word. Be Jesus. Be willing to be used for His Kingdom.

  12. WHY?

5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

The aged old question, with the resounding consistent answer. Most of us when faced with chastisement, ask the question, whether inwardly or outwardly, we find ourselves all wondering, WHY?

Why am I facing this? What did I do to deserve this? What did I do wrong? I have lived long enough and experienced enough to understand that everything negative that happens in my life is not a punishment to me. However there are times in my life that as a result of disobedience, I am corrected or chastised by the hand of the LORD.

The NLT of verse 5 gives a very clear illustration of WHY?

5 And why is this happening?
Because of the rebellion of Israel[a]—
yes, the sins of the whole nation.
Who is to blame for Israel’s rebellion?
    Samaria, its capital city!
Where is the center of idolatry in Judah?
    In Jerusalem, its capital!

    WHY?

Rebellion – opposition to one in authority or dominance.

When we are openly in opposition to those in authority; GOD, Government, Pastor, Parents, Teachers, Ministry Leaders, etc. We should find ourselves in position to understand why we are facing the correction, judgement of GOD. HIS all out effort to LEAD us to REPENT.

If you find yourself in a life of turmoil, choose today to not ask WHY? But to ask WHAT? What do I need to repent of and turn away form.

    iPraise
    iPray

  13. Witness or Advocate

2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

Here, the Lord is a witness to the sins and chaos of Samaria and Jerusalem. He will testify against them and bring them to justice. It is time to judge and serve them sentence.

Witness = attestation of a fact or event : testimony, one that gives evidence; specifically : one who testifies in a cause or before a judicial tribunal

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Here, Jesus is our advocate. Now, this is not a ticket to sin; but He is the advocate of His children so that means that we must have His Name applied to our lives for Him to serve as an advocate.

Advocate = a person who argues for the cause of another person in a court of law.

  14. 7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for shE gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

God is going to put the WWF smack down on some stuff. We cannot allow people and things to be come our idols.
Let the church- you and i get back to the basics of being “The Church”
    No idol worship but sincere,

  15. 2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

Lord help me not to be just a hearer but also obey what you say.

  16. No Place to Hide
    Micah 1:10-16
v.10 Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.
II Samuel Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

  17. It’s time to buckle down and throw out the things that are not of God! We are in revival and we need to keep our focus on what God has going on!

  18. Listen, all you nations! Pay attention, all inhabitants of earth! The sovereign Lord will testify against you; the Lord will accuse you from his majestic palace. -Micah 1:2

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? -1 Peter 4:17

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: -1 John 2:1

Turn to the Lord and allow him to judge us in the light of Calvary.

  19. ILove to eat the Word

3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

The day will soon come when the pagans will no longer walk over the Lords people, but The Lord will tread the High places and bring order to a very chaotic earth. Thank-You Jesus.

  20. vss .2 Hear, all ye people ; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the LORD GOD be witness against you , the LORD from his holy temple.
3For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire , and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.
5.For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel .

When we hear and obey His Word we show our faith and love for GOD.
Our disobedience will always separate us from GOD, because sin corrupts.

Sin corrupted all of nature and left nothing in it to repair the damage.
Vss.3-4 ” when GOD drew near”
Wow!!! The mountains melted and all the earth changed her appearance .
“Truly the wages of sin is death.”
JESUS IS THE ONLY answer to our sinful dilemma.
HE IS… Infinite without limit , endless boundless in HIS authority .
    “Hear and obey ”
“Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD”

  21. 2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

  22. In The Battle

    Micah 1:5 NLT
And why is this happening? Because of the rebellion of Israel—yes, the sins of the whole nation. Who is to blame for Israel’s rebellion? Samaria, its capital city! Where is the center of idolatry in Judah? In Jerusalem, its capital!

    Ezra 6:12
And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

I think of the significance of these places mentioned. At the heart and influence of Judah (praise), at Jerusalem, a place special to God where He placed His name, here is the center of idolatry in praise. When we choose to not simply be benchwarmer Christians but live on the offense, we better believe it puts a giant target on our backs. The big, ugly life-threatening attacks are easy to avoid, but the small idols that can sneak into our hearts?

That’s a key place of attack against us. It’s the little things that can add up, numbing us slowly to the point we become neutralized. Maybe clinging to enough grace to keep the pew warm, but neutralized as an agent of God to terrorize hell. We are in a battle, we must be mindful that we are not immune to attack and that just because we don’t crumble in a day doesn’t mean there are things that need fixing in our lives.

    Song of Solomon 2:15
Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

    1 Corinthians 10:12
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

  23. 15 Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.
16 Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.

Mareshah, according to Blue Letter Bible is, “one of the cities in the lowlands of Judah.” Here it Word tells us that Adullam, is the glory of Israel, just as a woman’s hair is her glory. Baldness or being polled is a sign of humility or shame, as we learned when we read about David’s men having half their heads shaved off.

Things that make yo go humm…

  24. This chapter illustrates consequence. Their actions would prove to be costly; “For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel”. One would be wise to heed the consequences of their actions, and comprehend the season today, and all the more recognize the necessity of seeking God (Jesus) for souls and one’s nation. What a mighty God we serve! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  25. 7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

God is a jealous God and won’t tolerate idol worship. He will not share his glory with anything or anyone. He is merciful if we turn from idols & repent & seek him while he can be found.

  26. Judgment is coming to a wicked and dying world. The church must be a light to the world to wake it up to repentance. We must not be slack in proclaiming of the Gospel.

  27. Like wax

For, behold, Jehovah cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. 4 And the mountains shall be melted under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, as waters that are poured down a steep place
    (Micah 1:3-4 ASV)

When Jesus comes down in judgement, it is like a volcanic explosion. Lava burns up everything in its path and changes the geography of the area. When the Lord’s fire of judgement comes down, it burns up the recipients of his anger and they are forever changed. Here, the prophet explains God’s indignation and his case agains Isreal. There is a trend in how God deals with the people. They sin. He warns them of an impending doom. They either repent or resist. Resistance is futile. It ends in misery. We can melt like wax before the Lord in repentance or by judgement. The choice is ours.

  28. 3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

Everything is subject to the creator the one that gave it life. God has given man kind his own will, but as the scripture declares, every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.

  29. 3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.
    What a mighty God!!
God is infinite in power he is mighty and rules everything. He has enough power to melt the mountain and tread upon the high places of the earth. I am thankful to serve a mighty God!!!

  30. God Knows

5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

Why do we try to overlook or try to hide what is really going on in churches or even our lives. God knows. He can’t be fooled. A sharp suite and a well performed message will not get you to heaven. God knows. We would be wise to confess and stop playing church. It is time to get real. Because God knows.

  31. In this chapter the Lord reminds the people of all the Earth who committed so much distruction and sin and how he intends to put a stop to it. The Lord goes through a series of disobedient acts and how to correct them.

Lord thank you for mercy and for allowing me to serve you.

  32. 6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

What is your foundation laid from? Is the foundation laid in the Lord? Or is it laid in other material things?

Whatever it is made of, God will know your foundation and if it ain’t based in God, then your foundation isn’t gonna stay together, it will start to fall out and slowly crumple away. This is why we need to make God the center of our lives, once we make him our foundation everything will build atop of it seamlessly.

So how do you make him the foundation? Simple, keep him the center of your focus on everything you do. When you wake up in the morning, when you are dealing with people, when you feel your flesh about to take over and when you’re making an important decision, remind of God and keep your eyes on him so that your ways will be his ways, what you do in your live will center on the thought, what would God want me to do here?

Keeping him at the center of your conscious will help you keep him at the center of your life.

Psalms 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?

Zechariah 8:9 Thus saith the Lord of hosts. Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets which were in that day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid that the temple might be built.

  33. God’s Plans

Humans love to make plans. We plan out or day, plan our meals, even plan our vacations a year in advance. God must chuckle at our effort sometimes. Not that its a bad thing to plan. Plans that we make should be in line with God and glorify him. No matter how may plans we make, he knows who’s ultimately in charge. It seems the people of Judah need to be reminded of this. God makes it clear that though they lie awake at night plotting wicked schemes, they cannot save themselves from what he has in store. Like a thunderstorm, God’s dark clouds are mounting on the horizon. He knows that the people of Judah are indifferent to the storm that is building, but judgment is still on the way. The plans of people may go awry, but God’s plans cannot be thwarted. Cosmos understands the time is comming near for a final judgment, that’s why it’s all over the media and Hollywood trying to predict the end of days. Judah and people of today have this issue in common: they know that they have been disconnected from God for so long doing their own will and making their own selfish plans. God has made his plan, that’s why we have to ask God to examine us and bring to light the plans we follow through and create that do not glorify Him.

  34. (vs 3-5) “Look! The Lord is coming from His dwelling place; he comes down and treads the high places of the earth. The mountains melt beneath him and hte valleys split apart, like wax before the fir, like water rushing down a slope.”

All this because of Jacob’s transgression, because of the house of Israel. What is Jacob’s transgression is it not Samaria? But what does God mean? Samaria is a location not a transgression, or does it represent a transgression? (1) Shechem was the first capital of the Northern Kingdom (1 Kings 12:25). Jeroboam seems later to have removed the royal residence to Tirzah (1 Kings 14:17). After the brief reigns of Elah and Zimri came that of Omri, who reigned 6 years in Tirzah, then he purchased the hill of Samaria and built a city there, which was thenceforward the metropolis of the kingdom of Israel (1 Kings 16:24). Here the hill and the city are said to have been named after Shemer, the original owner of the land. There is nothing intrinsically improbable in this. It might naturally be derived from shamar, and the name in the sense of “outlook” would fitly apply to a city in such a commanding position. The residence, it was also the burying-place, of the kings of Israel (1 Kings 16:28; 1 Kings 22:37 2 Kings 10:35; 2 Kings 13:9, 13; 14:16). God allowed Israel to have a king even though he is against any one being the king over his nation other than himself. These kings have caused division, idolatry and so many levels of sin and wickedness.

  35. Look! The Lord is coming! He leaves his throne in heaven and tramples the heights of the earth. The mountains melt beneath his feet and flow into the valleys like wax in a fire, like water pouring down a hill. (Micah 1:3, 4 NLT)

What a Might and Powerful God

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” (Matthew 19:26 NLT)

  36. The Coming Judgment on Israel 1.The word of the LORD that came to Mi’-cah the Mo-ras’-thite in the days of Jo’-tham, A’-haz, and Hez-e-ki’-ah, kings of Ju’-dah, which he saw concerning Sa-ma’-ri-a and Je-ru’-sa-lem. 2. Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. 3. For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. 4. And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place. 5.For the transgression of Ja’-cob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Is’-ra-el, What is the transgression of Ja’-cob?is it not Sa-ma’-ri-a? and what are the high places of Ju’-dah? are they not Je-ru’-sa-lem?

  37. 3 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

Resistance can only bring distruction. God gives plenty of opportunity for us to repent and make things right, He can mold us into a vessel that He can reside in. But if we resist then wether we like it or not He will mold you into something you don’t want- destroying the high things. Repent or be destroyed
