Micah 2

1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

3 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

4 In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

5 Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the Lord.

6 Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the Lord straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.

10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.

  1. All they want is their ears tickled.

6 Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.

They do not want a real prophet that will tell them that they are sinning and need to repent. All they want is the prophet that tells them that God is love, that there is nothing wrong with them, no rules, do as you wish for God loves His people.

11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

I am thankful for we have a man of God that will tell it like it is. He will not sugar coated and he takes us to repentance in front of God.

  2. “Someday, O Israel, I will gather you; I will gather the remnant who are left. I will bring you together again like sheep in a pen, like a flock in its pasture. Yes, your land will again be filled with noisy crowds! Your leader will break out and lead you out of exile, out through the gates of the enemy cities, back to your own land. Your king will lead you; the Lord himself will guide you.” (Micah 2:12, 13 NLT)
Even if we see here that “the love of money IS the root of all evil.”
GOD’s LOVE for His children never fails!!
Close your eyes to sin, meaning don’t fulfill the lust of the eyes. That brings gratification for the moment.
Close your ears to what the world is saying, buy yourself another car, another house, more clothes, etc. You were never meant to be like the world, but separate.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)
The Lord is coming for his own. Keep standing in faith.
After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. (John 10:4 NLT)

  3. 1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

We need to understand the time of this prophesy. Israeli was in a time that is called here (for this time is evil). Back again with the commandments of God,

    Ex 20:17

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

When we covet what someone else has, we are breaking the law of God. The spirit of covetousness is alarming and causes us great pain. We feel we have been cheated out of something, not that we need to work for what we need. I believe this law was placed here because what is in the heart of man will come to light.
The word teaches us to weep with them that weep and rejoice with them that rejoice. This is more of a team spirit, not an individual accomplishment. Pardon my illustration, but i guess that is why I like football it is a team game and if all players do their job you can win.
Living for God is the same we must as individuals be all we can be for the kingdom of God. Once we have reached out and dedicated our lives to God and his work, we begin to work as a team with the Pastor at the helm, we can see a move of God. We do not do what we do for our glory but for the Glory of God.
Now to the point if we have the spirit of covetousness in our hearts, we want everyone to know it was us that did that. We will go to all extremes to make sure we get the credit for everything we do. Not for the team but for us.
God said I am against a family that devises evil.
The old saying comes to mind: If the only way you can look good is to make me look bad there is something wrong with you!!!!!!

  4. iLove to eat the Word

7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the Lord straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

For those who walk upright, the Words of God do good for them. The key receiving the good things of God is to walk upright.

  5. Sonic Boom!

13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.

The word breaker means to break or burst out (from womb or enclosure) to break through or down, make a breach in to break into to break open to break up, break in pieces to break out (violently) upon to break over (limits), increase to use violence to burst open to spread, distribute

    sonic boom
    1. a loud explosive noise caused by the shock wave from an aircraft traveling faster than the speed of sound.

Mach 1 is the speed at which you break the sound barrier. The speed of sound, or Mach 1, at sea level and under “standard condition” is: 1,116.4 ft/ … 761.2 mph

The most turbulent is moving from transonic to supersonic speed. This is the rockiest part where everything shakes.

Jesus is saying Once you get to that place of intense shaking I’ll break the sound barrier.

Just hold on cause just when you think it’s all gonna fall apart he’ll take us from 760 to 761 mph!

Then it will be smooth sailing!

The Sonic Boom in the spirit is the praise of the saints as he moves us to the next level!

  6. BREAKTHROUGH

13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.

The BREAKER must GO before us. We are BLESSED to know the BREAKER in our LORD JESUS Christ. We must learn to PRAY and send HIM before us. Too often we do something or go into something without PRAYER and end up caught in a stronghold. If the LORD won’t or wouldn’t go before us then we are wise to NOT go.

If you find yourself bound by a stronghold today, if your spiritual life is hindered or locked up. Send FORTH the BREAKER.

    TEV
Micah 2:13 God will open the way for them and lead them out of exile. They will break out of the city gates and go free. Their king, the LORD himself, will lead them out.

Send UP Judah (Praise) and send forth The BREAKER!

I HEAR SOMETHING! A BREATHROUGH is coming! It is TIME NOW for a BREAKTHROUGH.

  7. 1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

Strong warning is given to those who claim to be something they are not. Those who devise evil, those who don’t take responsibility for their own actions, but continually blame their deception on others.

We have discovered in our journey through the bible so far that God who is merciful can’t stand deception and disobedience and sends strong judgement of destruction. This should cause us to evaluate every decision we make to ensure we are truthful and obedient in all we do.

  8. Chapter 2 Woe to Oppressive Leaders

2:12,13. The breaker is come up before them: This is a reference to Israel’s Messiah (Jesus) who will break down every obstacle between the people and their God. He will restore them, forgive their sins, and implant within them a new heart.

  9. 1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

  10. Where is the Rain?

Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
    Proverbs 25:14

Elijah sent the servant 7 times and on the 7th time he saw a cloud.

    1kings 18:45
And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

The one elements that was missing from Proverbs 25:14 is evident in 1 Kings 18:45. Why? Well Elijah was real and God backed him up. We can not claim to be Christians and live like devils, we cannot claim to be prophets yet we heard it through the “grapevine of gossip”, and we cannot claim to be a leader and no one is following us.

Today I evaluate myself and ask “Where is the rain?” I can have all the faith in the world but if the works of my lifestyle does not line up with His Word there will be no rain. Yet when my life lines up with Him, my words gain power and I start walking in dominion.

    Be Encouraged and Be Real!

  11. 1 What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans. You rise at dawn and hurry to carry them out, simply because you have the power to do so.
2 When you want a piece of land, you find a way to seize it. When you want someone’s house, you take it by fraud and violence. You cheat a man of his property, stealing his family’s inheritance.
3 But this is what the Lord says: “I will reward your evil with evil; you won’t be able to pull your neck out of the noose. You will no longer walk around proudly, for it will be a terrible time.” (NLT)

  12. Micah 2:7, 13 Should you talk that way, O family of Israel? Will the Lord’s Spirit have patience with such behavior? If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting.

Your leader will break outand lead you out of exile, out through the gates of the enemy cities, back to your own land.Your king will lead you;the Lord himself will guide you.”

Sometimes doing what’s right is not what feels best to “self-will” or our desires but I see to promises here that bring light to my world. As I apply this Word to me and be a doer and not just a hearer. If you do what is right you will find my words comforting. What would we do without His words that are life

Psalm 119:103 How sweet your words taste to me;they are sweeter than honey.

The greatest is that in the end, the righteous living not only will sustain you through His Word but the Lord Himself will guide to a breakthrough. There will be victory in Jesus name!

  13. Vs. 11, “If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.” (KJV)
Vs. 11, “If someone showed up with a good smile and glib tongue and told lies from morning to night, I’ll preach sermons that will tell you how you can get anything you want from God: More money, the best wines…you name it – you’d hire him on the spot as your preacher!” (MSG)

This made me think of 2 Timothy 4:3-4 which says, “For the time will come when they will not edure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

To many people today have turned their ears from the truth and believe in fables and go to a “Sounds Good” kind of church. As Jim would say, “Easy beliefism” kind of church. Act as you want, do what you want, believe what you want, and you’ll still be saved.

I’m so thankful that I go to a “Sound Doctrine” church. I believe in the Word of God, and I believe what Pastor teaches and preaches. It’s not sugar or candy coated and not always easy to receive, but it’s Truth. It’s there to reprove us, correct us, and instruct us. You can’t add anything to it, and you can’t take anything from it. It’s the Word of God, and it is forever settled in heaven.

  14. Often we think of God’s blessings as being untouchable by others, but here we see that evildoers can exercise their oppression even to the point of taking away God’s benefits. God promised the people of Israel an inheritance of land in which they would live nad flourish (Lev 20:24). But “Lately my people have risen up like an enemy” (vs8) they steal God’s blessings by evicting families from their land through any means possible- exorbitant intrest rates, extreme econimc regulations, high taxes, and judicial decisions based on brides. They drive away the “women of my people from their plesant homes. You take away the blessing from their children forever” (vs9). These techniqes are rampant today as well. In addition to the injustice of the situation, the orphans and widows, who are the most defenseless, are also the most abused. God does not take such inequity lightly. The blessings God has given to Israel an inheritance, a blessing intended for his people to keep for their family generations.

  15. Planning Evil

1 Woe to them that devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
    (Micah 2:1 ASV)

They were not merely falling in to sin and evilness. They were making plans to do it. Planning to sin or rebel or “making provisions for the flesh to fulfill its lusts” will always led to ruin. Just because you have the ability to do something, doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do.

  16. God finishes what he starts

We have to remember that out God started this fight for souls when he came fulfilling all the prophesies. He left it in our hands however and gave us power after we received the Holy Ghost to carry out the battle. He is the breaker that goes before us but it is our fight to fight. The awesome thing is that he has already overcome! We win because our commander can’t loose!

  17. v7 ” Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?”

Our faith in GOD must be firm. When we posses faith and confidence in GOD, we have victory .

  18. 7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the Lord straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

There is always another option-walk upright so his word does you good. Even in Israel’s extreme wickedness to their own, God offers them the correct way. It’s always our choice.

  19. The caption for the last two verses of this chapter in the CEV read:

    “A Promise of Hope”

    I, the Lord, promise
    to bring together
    the people of Israel
    who have survived.
    I will gather them,
    just as a shepherd
    brings sheep together,
    and there will be many.
I will break down the gate
    and lead them out—
then I will be their king.

My hope is in you Lord.

  20. This chapter illustrates receiving. They were unwilling to receive the truth. It is imperative that the truth go forth; “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”. One that is willing to receive will recognize the hour. What a mighty God we serve! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  21. I will certainly gather all of you, O Jacob, I will certainly assemble those Israelites who remain. I will bring them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in the middle of a pasture; they will be so numerous that they will make a lot of noise. -Micah 2:12 NET
The one who can break through barriers will lead them out they will break out, pass through the gate, and leave. Their king will advance before them, The Lord himself will lead them. -Micah 2:13 NET

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. -Matthew 16:18

Nothing can stand before the church that is commit to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He will gather the lost from every corner of this region for his glory.

  22. In complete awe of how many chances God has given me. He continues to surprise me by showing that He still hears my cry!
God I can’t thank you enough for the many blessings you have given me!

  23. In this chapter, I’m gonna take a few verses and show them in the New English translation cause I think it really shows the meaning behind these verses.

    4. In that day people will sing this taunt song to you – they will mock you with this lament ‘We are completely destroyed, they sell off the property of my people. How they remove it from me! They assign our fields to the conquerer.’

    5. Therefore no one will assign you land in the Lord’s community.

    6. ‘Don’t preach with such impassioned rhetoric,’ they say excitedly. ‘These prophets should not preach of such things, we will not be overtaken by humilation.’

Do you have those people that complain to you that they have it really bad, but they are only trying to dig your own grave a little bit deeper?

God calls us to be show his love to everyone, but at the same token he also tells us here to us wisdom in dealing with people, for some people are only looking for people to feel sorry for them so they can take advantage of them.

But it isn’t the people, but the spirit behind them, influencing them to do the things they do. For it also shows how this spirit tries to manipulate you and pull you away from your relationship with God. “‘Don’t preach with such impassioned rhetoric,’ they say excitedly.”

Beware of people trying to convince to tone down your zeal for the things of God and your relationship with him, for they are trying to slowly pull you away from God and towards the things of this world. This spirit will try to make it come off as being harmless enough but what it really is a trap to make you a luke-warm Christian. Don’t let people make you complacent, but remember to put your all for God.

    Our Good Shepherd

“I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd. (John 10:14-16 NLT)

  25. As in verse 13, my King shall pass before me. Jesus Christ is my Lord, and he is the Head of the Body/Church.

    Holdfast………………….

  26. 11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people
God hates false prophets and then this verse is actually insulting them and their false prophecies

  27. From Thought To Life

WOE TO those who devise iniquity and work out evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they perform and practice it because it is in their power. (Micah 2:1 AMP)

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. (Psalms 1:1-3 NLT)

What we think about moulds our lives. The vision or meditation of our life casts the direction we move in and guides our actions and decisions. We do well to examine our thinking and allow God to renew our minds so our thoughts are as His. A lack of proper vision can be so destructive, but to have correct vision is so blessed…

    Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJV)

  28. What a message in church Sunday night about breakthroughs!
13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.
Jesus I am glad that you are the breaker in my life. I am happy that I have a savior that can lead me through the hard times. When I follow the breaker I can break through more easily.

  29. Woe to Evildoers 1. Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2. And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. 3. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily; for this time is evil.

  30. Who is leading you?

13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.

We have a great man of God leading us and instructing us to do by His word. If you plan on anything that does not have God leading you through it you’re living by your own will which will only lead to distruction. Think twice before you think you don’t need a pastor in your life.
