Zephaniah 1

1 The word of the Lord which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.

2 I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith theLord.

3 I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked: and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.

4 I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by theLord, and that swear by Malcham;

6 And them that are turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him.

7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

11 Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.

13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

14 The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

  1. 7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

The Lord hath prepared a sacrifice and bid his guests to come. Look at this, he will punish the princes and the kings children. All will pay for their transgression. Even those in strange apparel, this is more than ungodly dress. The people of that day would dress according to their worship and vestments that would show they were worshiping certain idols.
We do not need to allow ourselves to be deceived! Pastor Watts taught us about deception last night, we can fill our masters house with violence and deceit.
Lord please let us see ourselves, we are our greatest enemies, as we really are. Not deceiving ourselves, by not accepting things as they are. We need to see the truth and accept it. Do we see the end result of people who do these things.

We will face God one day and give an account of our actions.

  2. 17. I’ll make things so bad they won’t know what hit them. They’ll walk around groping like the blind. They’ve sinned against God! Their blood will be poured out like old dishwater, their guts shoveled into slop buckets.

    18. Don’t plan on buying your way out. Your money is worthless for this. This is the Day of God’s Judgment—my wrath! I care about sin with fiery passion—A fire to burn up the corrupted world, a wildfire finish to the corrupting people.” MSG

A strong reminder of how God feels about sin – He has a “fiery passion” about it and we should stay as far away from it as possible.

    1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV
    22. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

  3. The caption for this chapter in the MSG reads “No Longer Giving God a Thought or a Prayer”. I have had a heavy heart the last couple of weeks, with certain individuals coming to my mind in prayer. I keep running in my mind “How Lord?”…..one day be so on fire for you and then “No Longer Giving God a Thought or a Prayer”. As Pastor said last night, we will all have to answer for what we have done, for what we have said and what we have thought. I go back to Habakkuk’s prayer from yesterday’s blog verse 2 NLT “I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.” Same verse CEV “I know your reputation, Lord, and I am amazed at what you have done. Please turn from your anger and be merciful; do for us what you did for our ancestors.” Now is not the time to give up……invite them one more time, keep praying for blacksliders to come home, and keep reaching/stretching for this city.

  4. 17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

As it is very stressful times that we live in today I look around at the world surrounding me and I see much spiritual blindness. I see people that are not in the church who are distressed about life and all their situations. I see politicians that are worried sick about what’s next. Investors that only have this world to turn to. We look around and this is what we see. Everything that we read in the bible is manifesting on the earth right now. Our eyes are open but are our spirits blind?

  5. 5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by theLord, and that swear by Malcham;

The Israelites had been worshiping the Lord as well as the idols of the land. God wants us to worship Him and Him alone. In this day, our idols look different, but are we still worshiping them alongside our God?

  6. 16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

The world will see one day that there is a God. I find it curious that people believe in God, but don’t dig to see who God really is. God is jealous for us. He wants a relationship with his creation. There is coming a day that when he returns all of heaven and earth will know that the King has returned.

  7. There is an old song that says “Money can’t buy you love” well it can not buy salvation either.

In the 1500 the Roman Catholic Church sold thousands of Certificate of Pardon, this were certificates sign by the pope for the forgiveness of sin, giving the owner a guaranteed to enter heaven. Such a sad situation for all those that will be rejected for the word of God said it plainly and clearly:
18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

The debt was paid, He didn’t have to do it, but He did. A debt that did not belong to Him, but He paid it anyways. In this verse, God says He will begin in Jerusalem and it is in Jerusalem where He, Himself, becomes flesh to pay that exact debt for you and me…paid not with money but with His Precious Blood.

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.

So, now that the debt is paid, what will be the outcome??? That my friend is up to you and me. Will we accept His precious payment for our lives? Will we apply His Blood to our lives through Baptism? Will we live for Him since He died for us? I guess we will know at the end by the yielding of our fruits…

  8. God’s message to Judah
    Zephaniah 1
The purpose of Zephaniah’s prophecy is to set forth what the day of the Lord will mean to ungodly Judah, to the world powers (1:2-3:7), and to the godly remnant (3:8-20). His theme us the day of the Lord, which destroys the false remnant of Baal (ch.1), destroys the God-rejecting nations (ch.2), and purifies the true remnant (3:8-20).

1:2 I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the Lord.

    5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the Lord, and that swear by Malcham;

Malcham-Heathen god, perhaps to be identified with Molech. Moloch (mō`lŏk), Canaanite god of fire to whom children were offered in sacrifice; he is also known as an Assyrian god. He is attested as early as the 3d millennium B.C., although most known references to him come from the later period represented by the Hebrew Bible, according to which Solomon and later Ahaz introduced the worship of him into Judah. He had a sanctuary at Tophet, in the valley of Hinnom S of Jerusalem. Milcom may be identifiable with Molech.

God doesn’t take lightly the acknowledgement and the respect to the pagan gods of this world. Today’s society is much like it was back then, Solomon says it like this:

” What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.”

Today people take on the pagan customs of the world not really caring what or where the rites and rituals originate from. But the truth of the matter is, that it is the same God that sees and knows all and it is the same demonic spirits that are receiving the same attention (only in different packages) as before.

This god Molech today is in the package of abortion. Let’s pray for the destruction of the ancient god that would destroy human life.

  11. Vs.14, “The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.”
Vs.15, “That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess,”
Vs.16, “A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.”
Vs.17, “And I will bring destress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.”
Vs.18, “Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.”

My second reading this morning was in Revelation 6. I thought Rev.6:17 went along with this passage of scripture in Zephaniah. “For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

  12. DEADLY DECEIT

9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.

Deceit is temporal, Obedience is ETERNAL. We learn the reason why here in Zephaniah.

THE LORD WILL SEARCH THE HOUSE

It is tempting to be a part of something and not support it through sacrifice and commitment. Deceit, division, discord and the disinterested will be sought out by the LORD.

Notice is verse 12 deception has already taken over the lazy, disinterested, uninvolved who have the perception that nothing will happen to them. The mindset is that LIFE just happens.

    CEV
12 I’ll search Jerusalem with lamps
    and punish those people
    who sit there unworried
    while thinking,
    “The Lord won’t do anything,
    good or bad.”
13 Their possessions will be taken,
    their homes left in ruins.
    They won’t get to live
    in the houses they build,
or drink wine from the grapes
    in their own vineyards.

Deceit tricks good people into believing that all the wrong they have done is ok. They are LAZY, do not want to pray, read and study the WORD of GOD, nor work in the harvest field through street evangelism, visitation, or teaching a Home Bible Study.

John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Proverbs 6:9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

Proverbs 13:4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

NOW is the TIME for POFW to RISE and WORK, everyone in the FIELD that is WHITE to HARVEST for the LORD’s HOUSE.

  13. we think we see the good in this world to even relize what its doing to our loved ones so much doubt hurt pain and much more but we just keep doing what were doing incorauging them to keep proceeding into the process there doing not knowing the pain causing in the Lord has done way yo much for us to be acting foolishness died for us given us food clothed us loved us yet when none else loved us yet we take in the world..we paint worship two GODS

  14. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Those who have put their trust in the carnal things of this world will be at a loss because you can’t buy your way to heaven, nor can you fill the void in your life that only God can fill with things. Words to an old song ring in my mind “Take it all, Take it all, what this world can offer me, take it all. For one hundred years from now, it won’t matter anyhow. What this world can offer me, take it all.”

  15. This chapter describes a people full of iniquity, lawlessness, rebellion. As we learn yesterday doing pastors preaching the only way we can overcome iniquity and disobedience is obedience. I’m thankful for the word. I’m thankful for the leadership of my church. Lord I pray that you would keep me that you will protect me you would lead and guide me and everything that I do and say.

If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it. (Luke 17:33 NLT)

So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet. (James 4:7-10 MSG)

  16. Zephaniah 1:12
“I will search with lanterns in Jerusalem’s darkest corners
to punish those who sit complacent in their sins.
They think the L ord will do nothing to them,
    either good or bad.

This chapter screams out to me
    FEAR THE LORD!

The awesome power of almighty God reaches beyond our understanding. In one fell swoop he can deliver or destroy. He can bless or curse. He can build up or tear down.

He is the creator. Not just the earth but also the atmosphere. Not just the planet but the universe. Not just the galaxy but every dimension, every atom, everything visible, invisible, ALL.

There is nothing in reality he didn’t make.

Imagine what he could do if he wanted to.

We should Fear, live in awe, respect, and reverence for him, and his things, and his people.

A healthy fear of The Lord will prevent the things in this chaper from being poured out on us.

  17. 18 Your silver and gold will not save you on that day of the Lord’s anger. For the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy. He will make a terrifying end of all the people on earth. (NLT)

We must make sure to put our trust and faith in The Lord. I look at it this way, in the end who will still reign and put forth judgement? God!

  18. 8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

    Garments of white..
To continue with the end times theme we see here talked about the great day of The Lord. There comes a day in which we will have to give an account of everything we did, said and thought, as we were taught yesterday. As I read verse 8, the image of those wearing the white garments going on to see The Lord came to mind. To put it in my own words, there will be a dress code to enter in the wedding of the bride and Jesus. White, holiness, sanctification, set apart, obedience…all those words come to mind. In Jude gives an example of v9

Jude 1:4 I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

And we are to keep holy wages clean in the blood living righteously and not get dirty with sin. The only way we can do this is through the Holy Ghost and the word that will wash us.

Jude 1:22-23 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

We must hang our flesh garments and put on garments of righteousness of Christ..but how can we do this? The Word
In the Word we have psalms

Psalm 119:141-144 I am small and despised,Yet I do not forget Your precepts. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth. Trouble and anguish have overtaken me, Yet Your commandments are my delights. The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting; Give me understanding, and I shall live.

  19. 17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

Jesus i pray that we live in righteousness and repentance and that God have mercy on us during these end times.

  20. 14 The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

  21. “Be dressed appropriately, with the Garmet of Praise, his Holy Armor, and plead the blood of Jesus over you and your familly.”

8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

“It’s not going to matter what your financial folder indicates nor your social status says.” He is a jealous God, turn to him while their is still time!

18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Additional Note: I don’t like it when he’s angry or jealous. People tend to get hurt or wiped out.

  22. 2 “I’m going to make a clean sweep of the earth, a thorough housecleaning.” God’s Decree. 3 “Men and women and animals, including birds and fish – Anything and everything that causes sin – will go, but especially people. MSG

It’s time to clean out our own lives that is causing sin in our walk with God. Be careful what you are letting into your home and into your life. Trash in equals trash out.

  23. Invited

    Zephaniah 1:7 AMP
Hush! Be silent before the Lord God, for the day of the vengeance of the Lord is near; for the Lord has prepared a sacrifice, and He has set apart for His use those who have accepted His invitation.

We see in this chapter the judgment of God announced, and all the ways people qualified themselves for it. But we also see a remnant of hope shining in the midst of darkness. While addressing those set apart for judgement, it appears He makes reference to those set apart for His presence. A divine invitation was extended and those who accepted find themselves set apart from the onslaught of destruction.

The illustration came to me of a fine wedding invitation for the marriage of the Lamb. How might we live differently if every morning we woke up to find a beautiful, engraved invitation presented to us by God Himself? What would it be like if we could handle it… feel the weight of the fine linen blend paper, see the glimmer of gold leaf upon embossed decorations, admire the crisp engraved lettering, touch the royal seal upon the envelop, read the loving words beckoning for our response as we are called by name to the King’s table…

Judgement is very real, but so is Jesus’ invitation to us to come to Him. If we as Christians live only to avoid hell, we will likely miss the mark; but if we live as those Invited, we keep before our hearts the royal wedding invitation and have the continue reminder of God’s love for us and His call for us to come to Him. Trying simple to “flee sin” is difficult, if not impossible, if you lack clear direction, but if you know your desired destination by Invitation, your focus on that will help you overlook the rest and keep you headed towards the One who made you Invited.

I think again of the “seal upon the envelop,” how it is very much like the seal of the Lord upon our lives when we “RSVP” to Him with experiencing the New Birth…

    2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NLT
It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.

    Zephaniah 1:18
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

    Song of Solomon 8:6
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

  24. This chapter illustrates notice. A warning was given. The true man of God (Jesus) gave notice then as now, as such one is wise that heeds the warning; “Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee”. What a mighty God we serve! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  25. 7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.
8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

We must stand before God in the garments that have been washed in his blood. This will be a solemn & holy day. No sin will enter there & only those who have prepared will enter and his invitation to come is going out to everyone now. I pray for the lost that their eyes are opened to their need of Jesus and for their willingness to be taught his word. I pray for people to be teachable & submitted.

  26. This chapter was so powerful because it reminds us that one day we will be judged and will have to give an account for our actions

  27. 14 The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

  28. If the devil is in our hearts with Jesus then it will break our hearts and will will have to get our victory back. We gotta pray to Jesus cause that is how we get our victory back.

    God knows our hearts

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.

Lees, when I looked it up, means the most worthless part of something. If you are settling on the most worthless part of something and saying that God doesn’t care, his word says something else.

The Lord cares. He cares greatly. He wants us to care too.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. (Revelation 3:16 KJV)

  29. 7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

What are you clothe with? What apparel do you live in? Is it that of judgment and criticism? What does others see you dressed in? Is anger and contention or is it peace?

Who we are and what we are is seen of all men, let’s dress ourselves in the fruit of the Spirit.

And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. -Matthew 22:12

  30. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
    Riches cannot save you…
In the world today people are so consumed by what possessions they have and how much money they make. However God is stating here that n o matter how much silver of gold you have it will not be able to protect you on that day. We should be more worried about having Jesus in our lives than obtaining wealth because our money cannot save us.

  31. No sin can enter in

    13 Thou that art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and that canst not look on perverseness, wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy peace when the wicked swalloweth up the man that is more righteous than he;
    (Habakkuk 1:13 ASV)

God cannot even look upon evil because of his holiness. This is exactly what happened to Jesus on the cross. He asked why he was forsaken by the Father. Jesus’ body had become separated from his Spirit, and he no longer felt the presence from God. The man side of Jesus now experienced life without God.

This is exactly what happens to us outside of grace. Gods grace and mercy gives us a change to repent and be looked at by the pure eyes of God. How foolish is it for us to tempt the grace of God by not living for him 100%.

  32. The fall of liberalism “Baal”

4 And I will stretch out my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarim with the priests
    (Zephaniah 1:4 ASV)

12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps; and I will punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil. 13 And their wealth shall become a spoil, and their houses a desolation:yea, they shall build houses, but shall not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine thereof
    (Zephaniah 1:12-13 ASV)

Today the media says God is love and it does not matter what you call him all religions lead to the same place. Everyone will go to heaven. It is the compromise of the millennium.

21st century Baal worship is found in liberalism. One of many similarities is abortion. Baal worshipers sacrificed their children to Baal. Today we see that in abortion. Hollywood’s ideology is the message preached by Baal’s prophets. The same spirits behind Old Testament Baal worship are the ones behind the deception Hollywood preaches through many of their movies and the perversion of truth that liberalism preaches.

Thanks be to God that he will cut off the remnant of Baal. Their wealth shall be a spoil and their houses will become desolate. The physical kingdom of Christ will be manifested after the purging of the Earth. Oh what it will be like to be there.

  33. Prophecy and Fulfillment

Zephaniah prophesies to a country whose affections are divided. Judah does not intend to quit its service to God -it is the religion of the people. Yet they are also attracted what they see around them and begin to worship idols of surrounding nations. Zephaniah’s prophecy of their coming punishment -the fall of Jerusalem- is fulfilled in 586 B.C. Similar to other OT warnings, however, this Scripture also speaks of destruction yet to come. Zephaniah’s words of prophesy events that will take place at the final judgment (Rev 6:17). At that point, God’s judgment will be experienced again, only then it will be a world judgment. Those holy and set apart for God will be spared. All others will be destroyed, as Zephaniah says, swept “from the face of the earth” (v2). God has made it clear that he’s not interested in sharing his people’s affection with any worthless false god- never has been, never will be.

  34. The day of wrath 14. The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. 15. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16. A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. 17. And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. 18. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

  35. The days are growing slim. God is not satisfied with false praise. He not only searches our lives but our hearts, you can’t fool Him. It saddens me watching people who know God to walk away thinking that God will remember they used to care, they used to love me, they used to want me, etc. God wants our love, our praise and if we give that up to “idols” then He will not be in the least bit pleased…
