Zechariah 2

1 I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.

7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that theLord of hosts hath sent me.

10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

  1. 11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

Many shall be joined to the Lord and shall be my people. The only way to become God’s people is to be joined unto him. The way to be joined unto him is to be born again.
When we are born again, we become a new person and have a new spirit, God’s spirit in us. My prayer is to see more people joined to him and now become a child of God.

  2. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

There’s no greater place than in the presence of God; truly a reason to sing and rejoice.

    “No place I’d rather be
    Than here in Your love…”

  3. YOU CAN’T TOUCH THIS!!!

For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me. Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. (Zechariah 2:8-10 KJV)
    Thank you Lord!!!!!

  4. A Man with a Measuring Line

Zechariah 2:1-13 The third vision is that of the man with the measuring line. It’s message is that the future Jerusalem will overspread its boundaries, and that God will be its Protector.

2:12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

  5. Our personal exodus

7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

In the book of Acts chapter 2 Peter preaches the first message to the newly birthed church. He tells them to save themselves from this untoward generation. Acts 2:40

The word save yourselves means Specifically of salvation from eternal death, sin, and the punishment and misery consequent to sin. To save, and (by implication), to give eternal life. Especially of Christ as the Savior.

Untoward means warped, crooked, and perverse.

Words cannot express our gratitude for the saving power of God. Yet this scripture is not saying it is he who saves us but we are the one who save us from this worldly system.

This is a personal responsibility. It is not up to God. We must take action to be clean, live separate, and holy lives. We choose to walk in the spirit, and not succumb to the world of Babylon.

Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

We take the steps to walk away from the world. He doesn’t pick us up and drop us in safety. We must go through the door of escape he has provided.

    Isaiah 52:11
    Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing;
go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.

    Jeremiah 51:6
Flee out of the midst of Babylon,
and deliver every man his soul:
    be not cut off in her iniquity;
    for this is the time of the Lord ‘s vengeance;
he will render unto her a recompence.

    Revelation 18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,
Come out of her, my people,
that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Jesus delivers us from sin. We deliver ourselves from the sinful system.

  6. Verses 8-9 MSG “God-of-the-Angel-Armies, the One of Glory who sent me on my mission, commenting on the godless nations who stripped you and left you homeless, said, “Anyone who hits you, hits me—bloodies my nose, blackens my eye. Yes, and at the right time I’ll give the signal and they’ll be stripped and thrown out by their own servants.” Then you’ll know for sure that God-of-the-Angel-Armies sent me on this mission.” Once again, right time and right place….thank you Lord.

  7. What is God up to in my life? What is the Lord doing at the POFW? What is going on around here?

13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. KJV
13 Quiet, everyone! Shh! Silence before God. Something’s afoot in his holy house. He’s on the move! MSG

Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” KJV

Know that whatever may be going on in our lives, it is directed and orchestrated by The Alpha and Omega. He is the Beginning and the End, the Author and Finisher of our faith!! The NIV reads: “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…” Hebrews 12:2.

I have a song in my heart this morning:
I am sold out, my mind is made up
I am sold out, my mind is made up
I am sold out, my mind is made up
I am sold out, my mind is made up

Who can separate us from the love Jesus?
    Not death, nor life
Jesus paid the price, now I’m free from sin

I am sold out, my mind is made up
I am sold out, my mind is made up

I’ve come through the fire, I’ve come through the rain
But God, He never left my side
He’s my comfort through all hurt and pain

  8. His word is true Today and always.

6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

The Nations to the North of Jerusalem are Lebanon and Syria. Today as I read The Jerusalem Post, one of the main headlines is Israel enmeshed in complex Syrian Refugee Crisis. The article goes on to say that in Jerusalem alone they receive an average of 600 Syrian refugee daily. It speaks of the cost of their medical care and the fact that they are not getting any international humanitarian aid to ease with the cost.

Why do I say all this? Because it is not a coincidence, it is the fulfillment of His word. WE MUST GET BUSY about our Father’s business. The harvest awaits. Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. ARE YOU READY TO GO? WILL YOU GO?

  9. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

the Lord will dwell among us

  10. Theres some things in life we don’t like and some things we wish never existed but to get through it is to pass it..
Everything’s done with a purpose and a smile.:)
!!THERE’S POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!

  11. “Shout and celebrate, Daughter of Zion! I’m on my way. I’m moving into your neighborhood!” God ’s Decree. (Zechariah 2:10 MSG)

Rejoice in the Lord always!! For the Lord is in our midst.

  12. RELEASE AND REJOICE

The command given here to the Church (Zion) is to “deliver thyself”. This inspires me because the command indicates that GOD has already granted the ability, power and authority to deliver ourselves from the bondage of Babylon.

    Deliver – to set free

We must exercise everything in our power, including; prayer, the WORD of GOD, worship and evangelism to deliver ourselves from the bondage of sin. We must BREAKTHROUGH even when it appears that everything is coming apart. Once we break free from the bondage of sin we are to SING and REJOICE and the LORD will dwell (live) in the midst of us.

Psalms 96:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.

Psalms 98:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

Psalms 144:9 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

Psalms 149:1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

Isaiah 42:10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

SING and REJOICE at the Mighty Hand of GOD working in your LIFE. Do not remain in sin, do not continue in a backslidden state.

    DELIVER THYSELF in JESUS name.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  13. iLove to eat the Word

8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

    apple of my eye
One’s favorite person; the one you love most.

In Old English, the pupil of the eye (the round, dark center) was called the ‘apple’. It was thought that the pupil was a round object much like an apple (a piece of fruit). When you look at someone, their reflection appears in your pupil. So if someone is the ‘apple of your eye’, he or she is someone that you look at a lot and enjoy seeing.

  14. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

There is no greater place to be than in your presence Lord!

  15. There will come days when you don’t feel like getting out of the bed. Walking around with burdens on your shoulder. But God is our strength and can help us through!
Thank you Jesus for your mighty hand in my life!

  16. 5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

God protects us round about while dwelling inside us. Be filled on the inside with Gods spirit and watch Him work on the outside.

  17. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

I am thankful to live in a nation where we have the freedom to worship God.
When we give praise unto our God ,He will come and dwell among us. There is nothing like being in the presence of God!!!

  18. 10 The Lord says, “Shout and rejoice, O beautiful Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you.
11 Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they, too, will be my people. I will live among you, and you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me to you. (NLT)

  19. 8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

The Word tells us multiple times, that we are the apple of His eye. If we ever truly caught on to this revelation, that WE people, mere mortals, are the apple of The King of Kings’, Jesus’s eye!!!

Jesus, only you are awsome. only you are worthy of all honor and glory.

  20. Chosen & Treasured

8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

    Zechariah 2:8 NLT
After a period of glory, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For he said, “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession.”

    Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

It is good for us to see how much God treasures us. One of the deceits of the enemy is to get us to think that he doesn’t hate us that much nor does God love us that much. When we “neurtralize” our view of God and the devil, we neutralize ourselves to slip into the natural carnal mode of the flesh. When there is no black and white, we can wander in a world of gray and decide for ourselves what’s right and wrong. But the truth remains, the devil hates us but Jesus love us with an everlasting love and treasures us enough to die on the cross for us. With that sort of black and white, we are hard-pressed to stay living in “neutral” but instead are provoked to make a choice. And the clearer we see the way God has chosen and treasured us, the clearer it can be for us to value and make our choice concerning Him.

    Matthew 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

  21. Vs.10, “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.”

SING and REJOICE, O Church, because God is in the midst of us.
SING and REJOICE, O Church, for we are In His Presence.
Matt.18:20 says, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

This verse put a song in my heart.
In your presence, my joy is complete.
In your presence, I find all I ever need.
In your presence, my heart feels at home.
In your presence is where I belong.

Every time I think of you, my soul leaps within me.
My heart starts to sing a brand new song.
My spirit begins to dance each time I feel you near me,
And I know this is where I belong.

In your presence, my joy is complete.
In your presence, I find all I ever need.
In your presence, my heart feels at home.
In your presence is where I belong.

  22. Wow….having God as your force field! Having a supernatural wall of protection. Once, again he uses fire! “Observe”………………

Zechariah 2:5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
    _____________________________________________________
Why I praise the Lord…………where there is Light, Darkness must subside/leave. My favorite scripture….Psalms 9:1-3….. I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

2I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.

3When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence

Zechariah 2:10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
    ________________________________________________________
    One Body…..One Faith….One Baptism……………One God……………..

Zechariah 2:11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
    _______________________________________________________
God will complete his word, and he will receive his portion…..for his word will not return to him void!

12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
    _____________________________________________________
No flesh shall glory in his presence, and a scripture comes to mind in Psalms 12:5. For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

    With Safety…..wall of Fire…………………………………………

Zechariah 2:13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

“Be Blessed Church in the Lord”………………………………………….

  23. 12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

He inhabits the praises of his people.

  24. 7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.

Restoring the love, rekindling the fire. As I read this chapter I saw how The Lord restores the relationship with His people. He speaks to His love, the people, and reminds them that they do not have to accept the status quo. Verse 7 says, “deliver thyself..” Then reminds what kind of love and treasure they are to Him..the apple of His eye, v9. The Romabcer, the essence of love, God himself will always initiate the communication to restore that relationship, that love between creation and maker, the church, bride, and The Lord Jesus. On verse 11 I see how it says “and many nations shall join…” I thought of catchy fire is… Some one on fire shows it in his or her passion and is very contagious… Passion, laughter, joy, love can be a fire too. Have you ever been next to some one who is full of joy? You just sense that feeling and you can’t help but smile. Have you ever looked at a bride to be with a huge smile filled with love, you can’t help but share in the joy… If we are to set/share the fire and have revival, how is our love relationship with The Lord? That many nations shall join, revival starts in our own hearts as being the church and that fire will be so catchy that people will just want to join in and be part of the wedding, Jesus and His bride the church..

Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Psalm 40:16 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;Let such as love Your salvation say continually,“The Lord be magnified!”

  25. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

There will be a great harvest of souls at the endtimes and we will see this come to pass as we experience the reign of Jesus on earth during his millennium reign.

  26. This chapter illustrates motion. The Lord’s (Jesus) plan was to be set in motion; “Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein”. One can rest assured, when it is time, the Lord’s plan shall be set in motion; “Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation”. What a mighty God we serve! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  27. 11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12 And the Lord shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
there will come a day when God will return to his people Israel. a day when he will reunite with his holy nation and will prove to them once and for all that he is the Messiah.

  28. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD. -Psalms 148:14

Lift him up in praise! See what he will do! He dwells in the midst of our praise unto him.
The enemy is defeated in the middle of praise.
Praise is a place of habitation, build it big enough for him to live.

  29. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

Let us sing unto the Lord for truly he is good. God is in the midst of holiness because he is holy.

  30. 2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

We are all being measured at all times.
When we come up short Jesus is the rest. When we have enough Jesus is exceeding. When we are exceeding we are close to him. What are we going to measure today? Measure my heart Lord that I may walk close to you. In Jesus name.

  31. Accounting
God really care about things that we might take for granted. He numbers the stars and sand when we can’t.
    Hebrews 11:12 (KJV)
Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, [so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
God knows the number of hairs on your head.
    Matthew 10:30 (KJV)
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Today if you get someone to notice the number of hairs on your head, you might bfre

  32. 5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

This atmosphere of the fire of the spirit and His glory is what draws people to Him. This is the goal of every service we attend to have the glory of the Lord be in our midst. There is just something about feeling His divine presence in our midst, and with us each day. And it’s very evident when His presence is not near as well.

  33. The measuring line of Jerusalem 1. I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2. Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Je-ru’-sa-lem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof. 3. And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, 4.And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Je-ru’-sa-lem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein: 5. For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

    ;

  34. Silence self

    Zechariah 2:13
Be silent, all flesh, before Jehovah; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation.

Self will needs to shut up before God. In the presence of God, there is no room for self will.

Ezekiel 28. We see the folly of self will in Lucifer.

  35. 10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

Where are the praisers?! We shouldn’t be stuck in a rut in services doing the same ole things, we should be praising like no one is watching.. We need to give Him all the praise!!!

  36. Divine Protection

With a tape measure in hand, a man on a mission appears, ready to measure the city of God. Where are the walled borders so necessary for defense? Where is the rocky fortress that will protect God’s people? An angel says that God himself, as a wall of roaring fire, will surround and protect his people. A tape measure suddenly seems a ridiculously inadequate tool for calculating the size and security of the flamed fortress.

God’s people are precious to him, in vs 8 he calls us the “apple of his eye.” He is literally comparing us to a body part so carefully protected by his design- with deep eye socket and eyebrows and lids and lashes- and by instinct, as we swipe an arm to our face if threatened. God is as protective of his people, as similar as we are of our eyes. His love and protection are an intrinsic part of being our Creator, and Father. This prophecy is in reference to heaven also mentioned in Isaiah 60:19 and Revelation 22:5.

  37. 8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that theLord of hosts hath sent me.
