Zechariah 3

1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.

6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,

7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.

9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

  1. I woke up this morning with the song on my mind.
    I will lift my voice
    And I will sing
    I will sing holy, holy
    To my Lord and Savior
    My God and King
    I will sing holy
    I will sing holy

I will praise the lamb of
God who sits upon the throne
    I will worship Him
And give the praise to Him alone, yes
He who was and is and is to come
I will sing before His throne forever, forever

All the angels sing and they bow down
    And they sing holy
    Hallelujah, holy
    We, Your sons and daughters
    We praise You now
    And we cry holy
    Yes we cry holy

Isaiah 6:3-4 “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.”

Imagine for a moment the Angel host crying Holy, Holy, Holy! Can you hear the most perfect choir singing Holy!

  2. 9. Now look at the jewel I have set before Jeshua, a single stone with seven facets. I will engrave an inscription on it, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, and I will remove the sins of this land in a single day. NLT

Isn’t it great that when we repent and get baptized, the sins that we had accumulated for years don’t take years to remove but are washed away in a moment!

  3. Joshua, standing before the angel, was dressed in dirty clothes. The angel spoke to his attendants, “Get him out of those filthy clothes,” and then said to Joshua, “Look, I’ve stripped you of your sin and dressed you up in clean clothes.” (Zechariah 3:3, 4 MSG)
    Glory to God!!!

  4. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

So thankful for the blood of Jesus and thankful for when we go under the water and our sins are washed away never to be remembered anymore. However, we have to repent daily to keep the sin out of our life.

  5. If we then he

    Zechariah 3:7
    Thus saith the Lord of hosts;
If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge,
then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts,
and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

    Isaiah 1:18-20
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:
    though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel,
ye shall be devoured with the sword:
for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

No one is inherently righteous. The high priest, the only man of God that can go through the veil the whole year, stands before God in filthy rags. The enemy is ready to devour him.

    Thank God for the promise!

    The TEV says Zechariah 3:7
the LORD Almighty had said:”If you obey my laws and perform the duties I have assigned you, then you will continue to be in charge of my Temple and its courts, and I will hear your prayers, just as I hear the prayers of the angels who are in my presence.

If we then he! We must do our part before anything will happen.

    Isaiah 45:23
    I have sworn by myself,
the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return,
That unto me every knee shall bow,
    every tongue shall swear.

    Malachi 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,
that there may be meat in mine house,
and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

  6. A clean Head.

    Mitre [S]

(Heb. mitsnepheth), something rolled round the head; the turban or head-dress of the high priest ( Exodus 28:4 Exodus 28:37 Exodus 28:39 ; 29:6 , etc.). In the Authorized Version of Ezekiel 21:26 , this Hebrew word is rendered “diadem,” but in the Revised Version, “mitre.” It was a twisted band of fine linen, 8 yards in length, coiled into the form of a cap, and worn on official occasions ( Leviticus 8:9 ; 16:4 ; Zechariah 3:5 ). On the front of it was a golden plate with the inscription, “Holiness to the Lord.”

Zechariah wanted to make sure that Joshua’s head was covered and clean. In the description of a Mistre it says that it was part of the garment of a high priest and that on this turban there was a plate that said Holiness to the Lord, I wonder if it was to remind them that their mind was supposed to stay fixed upon the Lord and His Holiness? Either way it must of been as dirty or even dirtier than the garments when Zechariah saw the need to remind them to change it also.

It is my opinion that all temptations begins to transform in sin in our minds, it takes thinking, planning, and executing; all in our mind. It sounds like a great idea to keep in our mind the signs that reads Holiness to the Lord. Keeping our mind in constant prayer, in His word, and in His will; will spare us from a lot of anguish and despair. May all your minds stay in the Lord and His Holiness.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  7. 1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

The enemy is always seeking a way to get us to fall. Here is Joshua standing before the angel of the Lord. And there is satan also. We must always remember to keep our guards up because satan is looking for a way get get us to fall from grace. The old devil himself is searching for a weak link in the chain. One of our weakest moments, when he can come at us and destroy our faith.
Even Job was tested read the story. I’m not preaching gloom and doom, God will always make a way of escape for those that love him. If we are looking for a way out he (the devil) will supply us with that way, but if we are wanting to find a way to overcome our weaknesses, God will always make sure there is a way to escape. The Word teaches us he will always be with us!!
1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

    James 4:7
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

We must resist when the enemy comes against us!!

  8. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. -Zechariah 3:4

So thankful for the garment change. From filthy to iniquity!

  9. The choice is yours. We are the only creation that has a choice. We can do our own thing or do as God says. We either have the opportunity to serve God or do wrong. The choice is up to you. We see here that Joshua had a garment of filth on,’sin.’ But the angel of The Lord put a fair mitre on his head. When we get baptized in Jesus name , this is what happens to us. Thank God for Hos saving blood that washes whitecaps snow.

  10. God’s Branch
Zechariah 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at : for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

The Branch(Heb. tsemach, lit. “a sprout”)
is a proper name descriptive of the Messiah, of whom it is used in prophecy …….Jeremiah 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Psalm 71:7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall spring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Zechariah 6:12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is the The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:

  11. 2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

    Silence Satan…

When God is speaking satans mouth has no other choice than to shut up. One of the greatest ways to silence the enemy is by the pure Word of God. Use the Word in your prayers, read it, and meditate on it day and night. This will help you not give place for the enemy.

  12. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

When we first come to stand before The Lord we will have on filthy clothes(sin) but He does not want it to stay that way .He wants us to get rid of that filthy garment in repentance so that he can cloth us in His righteousness .
He will cloth us with many different layers of clean clothes( love, kindness, compassion , mercy…) He will take our stinking attitude and replace it with a good one that causes people to like to be around us , not avoid us .
After He gives us a set of new clothes , (the Holy Ghost) it is our job to keep it clean by continuing to keep it washed( prayer)
Lord help me to stay clean and pure in my every day walk with you.

  13. iLove to eat the Word

1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

There are many scriptures in the Bible that refer to the resistance of satan. Another one is found in 1Th 2:17-20 “But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. (18) Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.”

There is yet another scripture found in the book of Daniel.

Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

We find yet more examples in the Word of God from Adam and Eve to the book of Revelation where the dragon resists the Nation of Israel. God’s word never says that resistance will not come, in fact the opposite is the case.

So how do we overcome the resistance of the devil? The answer may shock you.

James 4:6-8 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (8) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

The answer is to square off with that dude. Lets go back to our blog real quick…

3 “Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.”

Joshua was filthy. The book of James tells us to humble ourselves and cleanse our garments…

To resist the devil (in a nutshell) is to humble ourselves, pray, and cleanse our garments.

The best way to attract the devil is to live dirty…the best way to resist the devil is to be cleansed by the blood.

” Cleanliness is indeed next to Godliness.”

  14. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

I’m thankful for the blood that washes us white as snow. Thankful today for the change of garment and forgiveness of sin.

  15. 5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.
6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

Joshua was given a great promise of reward for his sacrifice of service. But he was charged to keep the law & commandments of God. Joshua couldn’t do it his way, it had to be service through obedience. If we will submit & obey the authority placed in our lives we will receive the blessings of God. These authorities are God’s word & our Pastor. We have an order to follow in the word even beyond these 2 but if we are submitted in these 2 areas the rest should not be so hard. (Ex: wives submit to husbands & children submit to parents) I’m thankful God has a plan of blessings & rewards for our lIves! I pursue to receive it all! Thanks for the great message last night Pastor.

  16. A PASTORS LIFE REVEALED

There is much more content in these 7 verses than I will comment about. However I will highlight a few key points for 2 reasons.

    1. For those that aspire to Pastoral Ministry may prepare and condition faithfully for the greatest responsibility on earth.

    2. For the faithful, wonderful saints of the most high to PRAY for your PASTOR.

    Here we go by verse:

    1. Any high priest (Pastor) that will come before the presence of GOD (Angelic host) will encounter the resistance of satan.

    2. Except the LORD build the house they labor in vain that build it. Some spirits the LORD must rebuke, from his chosen people. This is why “vengeance is the LORD’s”. If I am not prayerfully submitted, then I could get caught up in a battle that belongs to GOD.

    3. No doubt the (Pastors) garments were were filthy as the result of sin. The personal frailties and sins of man that calls for each of us to repent daily. However, I believe the sins of the people were also represented on the (Pastor). The perishinor is a reflection of the Pastoral Leadership that he/she follows. The Pastors garments were also filthy from W O R K. Working with the sinful people in hopes of presenting them to the LORD in a desirable condition. (You cannot work in a dirty field and not get dirty).

Jude 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Finally, satan is the accuser and no doubt did bring railing (dirty) accusation against the Pastor in hopes of discouraging and defeating him.

    4-5. The obedience, courage and faithfulness of the Pastor along with the prayers of the church position the Pastor to receive from the LORD and HIS angels the cleansing and change of garment so that the Pastor can fulfill the call to preach. (Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
    2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.). The ANGELS did the changing of the Pastors garments. This is why the Pastor must have some time away to get cleaned up and fell renewed.
    (Proof)
Matthew 4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

6-7. TEV translation clearly explains what the LORD says:
6 Then the angel told Joshua that
7 the LORD Almighty had said: “If you obey my laws and perform the duties I have assigned you, then you will continue to be in charge of my Temple and its courts, and I will hear your prayers, just as I hear the prayers of the angels who are in my presence.

Once renewed the Pastor must walk in total OBEDIENCE and fulfill the REQUIREMNTS AND REQUESTS of the LORD GOD of heaven, he will then walk in authority.

Thank you all for your prayers and faithfulness. I am honored to serve as your Pastor. Thank you for allowing me permission to speak into your life. I do not make light of the responsibility. I love you all and pray for you daily in JESUS name.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  17. 1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Some of us our represented in today’s chapter. We have on garments that are tattered and torn because the enemy is buffeting us. But we can take confidence that the trying of our faith worketh patience within us and is to prove us and our faith and trust in the Lord. When the time come, the Lord will step in and rebuke Satan for us.

  18. 7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

  19. We must remember to keep our trust in God because He always has our back. When the enemy comes God always has His eye on us and when we chose to call on Him during the trial He will rebuke the devil. Thank you Jesus!!

  20. NLT 1Then the angel showed me Jeshua[a] the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. The Accuser, Satan,[b] was there at the angel’s right hand, making accusations against Jeshua. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire.”

Like the saying goes, the devil sits on your left shoulder, and Jesus sits on your right shoulder. Who are you going to listen too? Are going to obey the devil and let him accuse you and take the blame? The devil is outright deceitful and will do anything to blame you. We all need to stop obeying the devil and resist him at all times.

NLT Ephesians 2:2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

Thanks to God, he is our protector and our judge. Having God in our hearts, God will see that and defend us against the accuser. God will take us out of the burning fire and into living water!

  21. Clean Garments for the High Priest 1. And he shewed me Josh’-u-a the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Sa’-tan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2. And the LORD said unto Sa’-tan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Sa’-tan; even the LORD that hath chosen Je-ru’-sa-lem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3. Now Josh’-u-a was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5. And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.

  22. Maybe we need a change of clothing, or need to keep a better step with the Lord and continue walking in his ways. Oh, I do pray that the Lord Jesus does rebuke Satan from our lives, and revive in us a new fresh annoiting with devine favor. I, pray a vast restoration of health, wealth, and blessed relationships, in Jesus name, Amen. “Unity in God’s House, and within our own homes as well, In Jesus name, Amen & Amen.” If, we are blessing God’s House, he should be blessing ours.

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Zechariah 3:4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

  23. Vs.3, “Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.”
Vs.4, “And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”

This made me think of two other scriptures.
Isaiah 64:6 says, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and have come short of the glory of God.”

The verse in Zech. 3:4 made me think of the Plan of Salvation. “… Take away the filthy garments from him (Repentance), I have caused thine iniquities to pass away (Baptism), and I will clothe thee with change of raiment (Holy Ghost).”

When we Repent, the filthy garment of sin is removed from us, when we are Baptized, our sins are washed (passed) away, and when we receive the Holy Ghost, we put on a new change of raiment (we put on Christ). Galatians 3:27 says, “For as many of you have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

Thank You JESUS for the Plan of Salvation!

  24. This chapter illustrates direction. The Lord (Jesus) rebuked satan, and charged Joshua with staying the course. The Lord will rebuke satan, as long as one’s direction is towards God (Jesus). What a mighty God we serve! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  25. Unity

    Zechariah 3:10 MSG
“‘At that time, everyone will get along with one another, with friendly visits across the fence, friendly visits on one another’s porches.’”

After the divisions of sin are dealt with in our personal lives, we find divisions with one another replaced with unity. Sin divides but Jesus will unite us. When we deal with the things that are blocking His flow in our lives, it will naturally draw us closer with other believers. It can be easy to identify points of friction, which usually comes with blame attached, but our concern should be the decrease of us and the increase of Jesus.

    Ephesians 4:1-3
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

    2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

  26. Zechariah 3:4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.”

“What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus”. Can’t help but sing this song as I read this verse. He takes away our filthy rags he trades in our worst for white garments. I’m am thankful for Hus redeeming love. However to activate that blood, one must be obedient in faith.

Isaiah 1:18-20 “Come now, and let us reason together,”Says the Lord,“Though your sins are like scarlet,They shall be as white as snow;Though they are red like crimson,They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient,You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel,You shall be devoured by the sword”;For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

  27. 6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,

7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

When we obey what God tells us, he will bless us. We have trouble when we ignore what God is telling us to do. We must not allow the enemy to detour us where God wants us to go.

  28. 2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

No weapon form against us will prosper.

There is power in the word of God!

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. -Matthew 4:4

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. -Matthew 4:7

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. -Matthew 4:10

Knowing the word and the name gives us power to rebuke the enemy.

  29. Thus says the Lord of hosts: If you will walk in My ways and keep My charge, then also you shall rule My house and have charge of My courts, and I will give you access [to My presence] and places to walk among these who stand here. (Zechariah 3:7 AMP)

Walking in the ways of the Lord and keeping His charge. The benefits of obedience

God ’s Angel then charged Joshua, “Orders from God -of-the-Angel-Armies: ‘If you live the way I tell you and remain obedient in my service, then you’ll make the decisions around here and oversee my affairs. And all my attendants standing here will be at your service. (Zechariah 3:6, 7 MSG)

  30. 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

  31. Thank God for redemption

    Zechariah 3:4
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take the filthy garments from off him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with rich apparel.

Oh how blessed we are to be clothes in the righteousness if God with his Spirit. He has given me a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. He has given me beauty for ashes. Redemption is a gift from God. Thank you Jesus for grace and mercy.

  32. 2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

The Lord rebuke satan!! In Jesus name, give God all the glory! Hallelujah for he has risen! Jesus!

  33. 5 I spoke up and said, “How about a clean new turban for his head also?” And they did it—put a clean new turban on his head. Then they finished dressing him, with God’s Angel looking on.

6-7 God’s Angel then charged Joshua, “Orders from God-of-the-Angel-Armies: ‘If you live the way I tell you and remain obedient in my service, then you’ll make the decisions around here and oversee my affairs. And all my attendants standing here will be at your service.

8-9 “‘Careful, High Priest Joshua—both you and your friends sitting here with you, for your friends are in on this, too! Here’s what I’m doing next: I’m introducing my servant Branch. And note this: This stone that I’m placing before Joshua, a single stone with seven eyes’—Decree of God-of-the-Angel-Armies—‘I’ll engrave with these words: “I’ll strip this land of its filthy sin, all at once, in a single day.”

  34. Verses 6-7 MSG “God’s Angel then charged Joshua, “Orders from God-of-the-Angel-Armies: ‘If you live the way I tell you and remain obedient in my service, then you’ll make the decisions around here and oversee my affairs. And all my attendants standing here will be at your service.”

  36. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

God makes all things new! He takes away all the filth in our lives and rejuvenates us. Everyday we need to come before God and make sure there is no filth that has crept into our lives

  37. It seems that Govenor Zerubabbel, a descendant of King David, faces “mountanious” obstacles in rebuilding the temple. Perhaps those obstacles are the neighboring nations who oppose the rebuilding or the reluctant exiles themselves. Zerubabbel is a political leader, bringing back to Jerusalem a beleaguered group of exiled Jews, setting up a city, laying the foundation of the new temple. The Lord tells him that any victories he experiences will come by the Spirit of God, not by human might or muscle. And yet Zerubabbel’s hard, persistent work to reestablish the kingdom isn’t discounted, nor is ours. In our daily tasks of faithfulness, we serve a Lord who does not despise “small things.” (Zec 4:10).

  38. 9 “For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”

One day on Golgotha Jesus died and washed away our sins with his blood. Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes “sin” and the angel took off his filthy clothes. The he said to Joshua “See I have taken away your sin and I will put rich garments on you. He will literally clothe us with His Spirit.

  39. 7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
