Zechariah 10

1 Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.

Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the Lord of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.

Out of him came forth the corner, out of him the nail, out of him the battle bow, out of him every oppressor together.

And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.

I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased.

And I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again.

10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.

11 And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.

12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Lord.

  1. Zechariah 10:2 NLT
    2. Household gods give worthless advice, fortune-tellers predict only lies, and interpreters of dreams pronounce falsehoods that give no comfort. So my people are wandering like lost sheep; they are attacked because they have no shepherd.

God’s people have no business seeking advice from fortune-tellers and such. God has placed a Pastor in our lives that cares for our souls, not the fee posted on the door, and there is no need to ask the stars when you have a relationship with the One who made the stars.

  2. Zech 10:6
6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them.

God has great love for his people, the prophet says I will have mercy upon them and they shall be as though I had not cast them off. God is so merciful that he remembers his people when they repent and return unto him. Once they forsake their sinful ways, God will bless them and forget all their short comings. I am so thankful for a merciful God!

  3. The rain

    Zechariah 10:1 KJV
    Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain;
so the Lord shall make bright clouds,
and give them showers of rain,
to every one grass in the field.

    Zechariah 10:1 AMP
ASK OF the Lord rain in the time of the latter or spring rain. It is the Lord Who makes lightnings which usher in the rain and give men showers, and grass to everyone in the field.

The rain comes and refreshes, and feeds the field. It supplies nourishment, and allows for life to continue. The field produces the harvest, and fruit can be gleaned.

We know we live in days of prophetic rain.

    Acts 2:17
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

    James 5:7
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

    Joel 2:23
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God:
for he hath given you the former rain moderately,
and he will cause to come down for you the rain,
the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

We understand the former rain was the initial outpouring on the day of Pentecost. The latter rain is the prophesied rain of the last days.

According to McCarthur The early rains came in October- December to prepare the seed- bed and assist germination, while the latter rains came in March- May to provide ample moisture for the grain and fruit crops to be rich and full.

The former rain helps prepare the hearts, while the latter rain causes it to produce and bear fruit! God will send the former and latter rain together.

Yet not without bright clouds. Bright clouds are lightning and thunder. It is the sound that grips humanity, and strikes fear. When we realize we are at the mercy of the environment around us.

Harvest, and rain comes with bright clouds. We must endure the storm, and keep our eyes on Jesus!

    Isaiah 25:4
4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor,
a strength to the needy in his distress,
a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

The enemy will try his hardest to keep up from the rain, the harvest, and the furtherance of the kingdom of God. The Lord is our refuge and the one who calms the storm.

    Psalms 107:29
He maketh the storm a calm,
so that the waves thereof are still.

Storms are necessary for harvest and revival.

  4. The people of Israel will become like mighty warriors, and their hearts will be made happy as if by wine. Their children, too, will see it and be glad; their hearts will rejoice in the Lord. (Zechariah 10:7 NLT)

To teach, to talk to your children about God almighty, the only TRUE and living GOD!!!! And to see them TRUST Him and His word, to see/hear them worship Him. To hear them talking about the ONE TRUE GOD to others, to see them making a Stand for Christ. To see them making Godly decisions, to see them win souls, reaching for those who are bound, to see them work in ministry. To see my children growing in The Lord, which I am confident that I also will see my grandchildren and the seed that will come after them, living for God!!! They will also talk about the goodness of Jesus, just as I do today!!!!!!
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deuteronomy 6:7 KJV)

  5. “I (says the Lord ) will strengthen the kingdom of Judah and deliver the people of Joseph and will bring them back because of my compassion for them. They will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the Lord their God and therefore I will hear them. -Zechariah 10:6

Thank God for his love and compassion!

  6. The beginning of this chapter reminds me to be thankful for the awesome Leadership that the Lord has placed in my life. We must be as the end of verse 5 MSG says “Courageous and vigorous because God is with them, undeterred by the world’s thugs.” We cannot allow the things of this world to bring us down, we are on the winning side. The end of the chapter reads “But my people—oh, I’ll make them strong, God-strong! and they’ll live my way.” God says so!”

Psalm 95:6-7 NLT “Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today!”

  7. His Mercy is everlasting
6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

How great is our God!!!! He welcomes the repented heart with arms wide open. He restores ALL back to how He wants it to be in our relationship. He redeems us from this world and the enemy.

Redeem = 1. To purchase back; to ransom; to liberate or rescue from captivity or bondage, or from any obligation or liability to suffer or to be forfeited, by paying an equivalent; as, to redeem prisoners or captured goods; to redeem a pledge.

    2. To repurchase what has been sold; to regain possession of a thing alienated, by repaying the value of it to the possessor.

He paid a price you could not pay for yourself. OUR REDEEMER LIVES.

  8. 6 “I will strengthen Judah and save Israel; I will restore them because of my compassion. It will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the Lord their God, who will hear their cries. (NLT)

Thank you Jesus for your compassion, grace and mercy even when we don’t deserve it.

  9. By my power I will make my people strong, and by my authority they will go wherever they wish. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (Zechariah 10:12 NLT)

It’s by His power and authority that we are victorious.

Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. (Zechariah 4:6 NLT)

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:10-12 NLT)

  10. I love it when I wake up with a song in my heart!

Because of who You are, I give You glory
Because of who You are, I give You praise
Because of who You are, I will lift my voice and say
Lord I worship You, because of who You are
Lord I worship You, because of who You are.

Because of who You are, I give You glory
Because of who You are, I give You praise
Because of who You are, I will lift my voice and say
Lord I worship You, because of who You are
Lord I worship You, because of who You are.

    Jehovah Jireh, my Provider
Jehovah Nissi, Lord You reign in victory
Jehovah Shalom, my Prince of Peace
And I worship You, because of who You Are

The statement; “Because of who you are…” Who is the Lord to you, who is the Lord to me? Is He this mystical being that hovers above our lives and directs our movements like a chess game? Is He the rich family on the other side of town that always has everything and shows off all the time? I ask these questions because through my life; He has been those things to me. I never put much effort into understanding exactly what/who the Lord is to ME; not my wife, children, grandparents, etc… – ME and ME alone.

Why do we give him glory, praise, worship and exalt him? Is the effort for what He can do for us? Is it because it is what we are expected to do? For most of my life these were the reasons I went to church and “performed” my religious duties. However, as I have matured in my relationship with Jesus, our relationship has matured. It is no longer a one-way relationship. I cannot pinpoint the event, day or time when the relationship changed; I don’t believe it was any single thing. It is the culmination of everything from my knowledge of good and evil.

Today, I can claim who He is! I can sum it up in one word; everything. He is my everything. He is all encompassing. Jesus said it best Himself. Revelation 1:8 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” I could start listing all the things the Lord is to me and would never stop. Simply put, He is my everything!! Thank you Lord for the revelation!!

  11. 10 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime, it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.

The Lord is so mindful of his people that even in a drought season, we can prayerfully ask for rain and he will shower down on us. This brings the words of a song to my mind: Rain, rain on us, open the windows of Heaven, Open up the Heavens, pouring out a blessing, Lord we need refreshing ’till it overflows…..

  12. GODS STRENGTH

And I will strengthen them in the Lord; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Lord. (Zechariah 10:12 KJV)

My observation over the past several years is that people who are involved in and engaged with the work of the LORD are happy and blessed. The strength of the LORD accompanies the people that are walking up and down in his name.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. (Colossians 3:17 KJV)

You can make IT! With the strength you will receive from the LORD, you will pass through the storm you are facing. GOD is for us! Trust in HIS strength and keep walking this great walk with JESUS!

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  13. 6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

Thank you Lord for you mercy endureth forever!!

To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalms 136:4 KJV)

  14. iLove to eat the Word

9 And I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again.

As we sow into our communities, God is going to turn things around and those from afar off are going to come back to the Lord. The principles of the Word are sowing and reaping and the time of The Pentecostals of Fort Worth is about to be the time of great reaping! Lets prepare for the harvest.

  15. Zechariah 10:2 NLT
Household gods give worthless advice, fortune-tellers predict only lies, and interpreters of dreams pronouncefalsehoods that give no comfort. So my people are wandering like lost sheep;they are attacked because they have no shepherd.

The man of God in your life.
The covering of a true man of God as your pastor has a great weight and value in an individual’s life. There is one thing that pastor has said that has stood out to me greatly; he mentioned that hears from God for us. Every preached word, every bible study, every message and advice is with devine anointing and inspiration to help us be guided in the right path. I am reminded of the story of the eunuch that was reading the scripture but did not understand them

Acts 8:29-31 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.

Likewise are we in such great need to help us understand, guide and be protected. This verse mentioned that they were attacked because they have no shepherd… Who is your covering? To whom have you submitted and entrusted with your spiritual life? I am greatly inspired by my pastor who has his pastor, who even has his pastor.

  16. 1 Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

Let it rain. Elimo ha sha ta. Let it rain. The Lord will provide in times of need. He is my rock and my fortress.

  17. 6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.
Thankful for God’s mercy , that when we fall He will pick us up when we try to stand and helps us dust ourselves off and start back on the right path. When we think we are weak and can’t stand much longer if we look to Him , He will strengthen us and let us know that He is right there with us in every battle that comes our way!

  18. Vs.2, “For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.” (KJV)
Vs.2, “Store-bought gods babble gibberish. Religious experts spout rubbish. They pontificate hot air. Their prescriptions are nothing but smoke. And so the people wander like lost sheep, poor lost sheep without a shepherd.” (MSG)

This made me think of the world in which we live today. There are many false teachers and anti-christs in the world today leading many souls astray. They talk gibberish and rubbish, and their words are like hot air. No truth to them. People are listening to it, and its leading them astray. They’re out there wandering like lost sheep and without a shepherd (Pastor) in their lives, trying to figure out which way to go.

This thought lead me to Matt.9:36-38 which says, “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

We need to go out, and get the lost sheep, and bring them in, so that they can have a shepherd (Pastor) over them that is leading them into all Truth.

The HARVEST truly is Plenteous. It’s Time (NOW) to get to work!

  19. Strengthen us oh Lord, and let our hearts rejoice in you, Amen in Jesus name…..

    “Be Strong”..,………………

  20. This chapter illustrates examination. There were deceivers, and as such much deception; “For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd”. One cannot be slothful, or one will be deceived, it is imperative that one read the word of God (Jesus); “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding”. One can tell the true man of God from the false, as a true man of God will encourage and promote the study of the word of God; “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. What a mighty God we serve! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  21. Judah is the tribe of King David and the Messiah.Christ is identified as the conerstone the most impoetant stone in any construction ethier of foundation or of anarch astent peg as a battle bow.In rejection the conqueror who violates their expectations by appearing in humble peceable guise the people of Israel forfeit every chance to reestablish their nation for all hinges on Him

  22. Rejoice Always

    Zechariah 10:6-7, 12
6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

7 And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.

12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Lord.

Over the years, the results of bad choices and hardships can leave us feeling *desolate*: “barren or laid waste; devastated; deprived or destitute of inhabitants; deserted; uninhabited; solitary; lonely; having the feeling of being abandoned by friends or by hope; forlorn.”

The bright hope that once shone when we came to Christ seems tarnished and it can feel more like we’re searching through the scrap heap of the Kingdom to find some sort of future for ourselves. But God can turn around ugly situations and rewrite even the script that we ourselves smudged and tried to take over. I believe v7 gives us a key to this: “their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.” Our victory will hinge on our attitude. If we can’t lift the vision of the our hearts above the desolation, we will likely do nothing more than remain in our desert place. But if we will get ahold of some praising and rejoicing in the Lord… V12 continues, “I will strengthen them in the Lord…” Our strength will be in Him. Looking at the mess and wreckage won’t fix it, but keeping our eyes of the Lord and rejoicing in Him swings the door open to victory. The Lord can strengthen, He can restore, He makes the way for us to “walk up and down in His name;” it’s not time to lie down and “rest in the mess” but to get up and praise Him and let God be God!

    Philippians 4:4 KJV
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

    Philippians 4:4 NLT
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!

    Philippians 4:4 AMP
Rejoice in the Lord always delight, gladden yourselves in Him; again I say, Rejoice!

  23. Rain

1 Ask ye of Jehovah rain in the time of the latter rain, even of Jehovah that maketh lightnings; and he will give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
    (Zechariah 10:1 ASV)

We are in the time of the latter rain. All we have to do is ask, and God will water every blade of grass on the field. Not a single person will be left out. When weeds grow in fields, they fight the grass for the nutrients of the soil and the water. We must be careful to not let the weed and thorns (worldly desires) take our blessings.

Let it rain, and receive your blessing.

  24. Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle. -Zechariah 10:3

There should be a peace and a thankfulness knowing that God has placed leaders in your life that will watch for your soul.

There are those that the scripture refers to as hirelings. These are those that really only care about themselves but don’t realize the anger of the Lord is kindle against them.

But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. -John 10:12
The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. -John 10:13
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. -John 10:14

You can tell a hireling because he does not care for you or your salvation.

  25. Are you a sheep or a goat?
Back in psalm I asked this question. Here it is again. The sheep listened and followed God, but the goats who didn’t follow we’re punished.
    Are you a goat?

  26. 6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

This verse shows the mighty mercy of God. God is saying it will be as though I never cast you off, as though I never judged you. That is the great mercy and grace that God shows. Then on top of that He said I will hear them. Thats special because more that anything else in my life I want to know that when I pray my God hears me…

  27. 6 And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

I am thankful that his mercy endures forever and his truth to every generation. Without these 2 things mankind would not even have a chance. Praise God for a Pastor and not a hirling so that we can receive guidance from Him. Correction comes from God’s love & we must be ready to hear what the spirit speaks to the church.

  28. NLT The LORD will Restore His People 6. I will strengthen Judah and save Israel; I will restore them because of my compassion . It will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the LORD their God, who will hear their cries. 7. The people of Israel will become like mighty warriors, and their hearts will be made happy as if by wine. Their children, too, will see it and be glad; their hearts will rejoice in the LORD. 8. When I whistle to them, they will come running, for I have redeemed them. From the few who are left, they will grow as numerous as they were before.

  29. God is my all and deserves my all! After everything He has done for me there is no reason I can’t give Him my all!

  30. The Messiah

The Lord will punish the shepards who have opressed his flock. He will care for his flock himself, and from the tribe of Judah he will raise up the Messiah. The Messiah is here presented in several key images: the cornerstone that provides the fondational stone for a structure, the peg that secures a tent (really all I could think of when I first read “tent peg” was of Jael in the Judge Deborah’s time who killed the enemy king with a ‘peg’) also the bow that hurls an arrow, the King of kings.

God promises to be with Judah and make them mighty and strong. As a compassionate God, he promises to reunite the southern kingdom (synonymous with Judah- Zec 10:6) and the northern kingdom (synonymous with Ephraim- Zec 10:7). Their will be restoration in the care of the Lord.
