Acts 10

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Thank you Lord for showing also the Gentiles how to be saved. We also need to look at the heart of the man not the outside apperance whomsoever God hath called is clean.

  2. Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” (Acts 10:44-47 NLT)
What an awesome Gift from GOD!!! I am thankful and blessed today, to know that I am filled with the HOLY SPIRIT!!!!

  3. 25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

Many barriers were broken down here, Peter was asked by a men whom he knew not to go with them and pray for a man.
So many things going on here, God will never bypass the ministry, When Cornelius prayed God told him to send for Peter (THE MAN OF GOD, APOSTLE) and he would tell him what to do. This day the gentiles were crafted in and now it is possible for them to now receive The Holy Ghost as well as the Jews.
Peter said he was not even suppose to go into the home of a gentile.
God was not only working on Cornelius he as dealing with Peter also.
We should never short change God, He knows what he is doing, we should always obey him and listen to what he is telling us. God will never lead us wrong, but will always move on our behalf. Peter obeying God brought about a great miracle. Proof God will send a revival to those that pray for it!!!!

  4. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

The word respecter of persons means a discriminator.

    God does not discriminate.

I taught this recently in a bible study and made the comment that Peter didn’t believe his own sermon on the day of Pentecost. He was racist, and discriminated against the Gentiles. I joked that he was a member of the Jew-klux-klan.

In fact this is something he deals with a few times during his life.

Thank God that this wasn’t the mindset of our savior. He is not willing for any to perish but ALL to come to repentance!

  5. A perfect example of a home bible study?

    Cornelius prayed a lot:
2: A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

Cornelius then asked a disciple to come to his home and tell him what God had to say.
22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

The bible study grew beyond what Peter thought:
27: And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

Peter told the story of Jesus:
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

After the lesson; The Holy Ghost fell and they received the gift of the Holy Ghost and were baptized:
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word… Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

  6. 19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

When You have a relationship with the One true God, many great things will happen. We see here how Peter was in prayer and God showed him a vision. Let us get a vision for this city. Our Pastors vision. When we tap into the vision of others and help them succeed , God will send others to help us with our visions. To have a vision you must open up your spiritual eyes.

  7. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Like Bro. Cornwell always says, “There is room in the house of God for EVERYBODY!”

  8. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

If God is no respecter of persons, then what gives us the right to be? We are all the same in God’s eyes. It rains on the unjust and just alike.

  9. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

Would you disobey a commandment? This scripture clearly states for us to preach unto the people.

  10. DIVINE APPOINTMENT

I have heard the phrase frequently throughout my life in reference to meeting someone or being in the right place at the right time, people have stated that there had a DIVINE APPOINTMENT. As a TRUTH today Acts Chapter 10 reveals the TRUE DIVINE APPOINTMENT.

DIVINE – of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God or a god. (Webster)

APPOINTMENT – an agreement to meet with someone at a particular time

We learn from this Chapter the possibility and even probability of GOD speaking to 2 separate persons in regards to the fulfillment of the DIVINE will of GOD. I believe that every living soul has an innate hunger for GOD to some extent, many are unaware of this hunger, however at an APPOINTED TIME our GOD will speak to them and a vehement hunger will manifest in them and they will SEEK THE LORD JESUS for answers. At the same TIME our GOD will speak to believers willing to share their testimony and the Apostolic doctrine of the Born Again experience of water baptism in JESUS name and the infilling of the gift of the HOLY SPIRIT baptism, evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the SPIRIT gives them the ability to speak.

I believe over the next few days that GOD is arranging some DIVINE APPOINTMENTS for many of us in The POFW family. We must be willing to step out and OBEY the VOICE of the LORD JESUS and GO where HE instructs and directs, then SPEAK what we have learned and seen.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Our willingness to apply Revelation 2:7 and Isaiah 6:8 prepares us for GOD to use us in DIVINE APPOINTMENTS. I believe we will soon see congregations converted to the APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE as result of DIVINE APPOINTMENT.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

I am so thankful that God saves who ever will come and obey His word, by repentance and baptism in Jesus name.
He doesn’t look at our color or if we are rich or poor. He sets the example for us. When we are doing the work of God we should not only look at those that we think would make good saints but we should pray for the will of God. He can take the vilest sinner and turn him into the greatest preacher or saint of God. I’m so thankful that you didn’t have to be from a certain standard of people to be saved or I could have been looked over as not being good enough to have the Holy Ghost and be a child of God.

God help me to be mindful and look around me and see all the people that you want me to tell them about you so that they will have the same chance to be saved as I did.

  12. When God speaks to us, even if it seems against our preconceived notions or traditions, we should follow his lead and call and do what he says.

  13. iLove to eat the Word

I’ve heard it said that good deeds and good works don’t impress God, but according to this scripture it sounds differently. Check this out, “A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.”

Cornelius wasn’t saved but his prayers and gifts came up before God and God then poured out salvation upon him and his household.

It a principle of God’s Word and God’s Word is forever settled in the heavens. Bless God and He will open the windows of Heaven

  14. 36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

He is Lord of all, not just those we deem worthy.

  15. Memorial offerings for God

Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. (Acts 10:4 NIV)

Generosity to the poor (poor in spirit and those poor in wealth) is an offering to God.

    Matt 25

Pofw is blessed because of its involvement in the community. We, as individuals, cannot ride the coat tells of the local church. We must also sacrifice for the poor in ways that we can. Whether by time, money, and or service the work is for the glory of God.

Generosity gets the attention of Jesus.

  16. Why go against what the Lord tells you to do. He knows what is in store for you and Knows what is the best thing for you!

  17. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

The prophets give witness. God has a way of proving himself even through the past. He will use what we know and take us much further and deeper in him if we are willing. All Jews knew what the prophets had said, they studied and learned it for years. Though the criteria was filled and Jesus was unmistakeable the Christ, many chose not to believe. They couldn’t get passed their traditions and want their ideas of how God would fulfill his prophecies. God has proven himself time and again, we can look back and see how all things work together for His purpose. Don’t put God in a box. He fulfilled prophecy back then, he is still today. Not in our time or way but His.

  18. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

Many times God has to repeat himself to us before we actually take action to what he is wanting us to do. But just like the message last night….what would happen if we answered right away and did what he commanded of us? Our revival is still continuing…..are we just going to sit here and let God do all the work or could we actually help by out reaching to the ones out there. God cares about his people and we should too. So let’s not just pass by but be a friend to someone and listen to the voice of God.

  19. Boundaries

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

I find it interesting how God and man don’t always agree on boundaries. God says “don’t cross this boundary,” yet man, since the garden, has a way of doing just that; man says “I won’t cross this boundary,” yet God may call us to do just that. As people, we naturally put up all sorts of boundaries, based on differences concerning things like politics, nationality, ethnicity, age, language, education, vocation, lineage, income, etc. Yet God doesn’t judge the same way people do. We see in the church an amazing opportunity for social norms to go out the window and deep-set “social grudges” to be dissolved and for there to be a mixing of peoples who otherwise would likely not closely associate with one another naturally.

But beyond the obvious people-boundaries that God calls us to cross, we can hold personal boundaries that go contrary to God’s will. It may not have to do with a broad group of people like this in today’s chapter but a smaller personal thing. But God may just come knocking at the door of our hearts to call us to minister to somebody who we would rather not associate with or might not think we would be called to. Bro Henderson preached about “changing it up” in our worship to God; well, evangelism and ministering to souls is part of our lifestyle of worship, so why not be prepared for God to give us opportunities to change it up from how we would normally envision it? We must be willing to surrender our walls and preconceived ideas to His will and way.

    Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  20. Acts 10:15 God uses the sheet vision to teach Peter two important truths: (1) God has now cleansed all animals for food, contrary to the dietary codes of the Mosaic Law; (2) all men are fit for salvation (v.28).
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

  21. “What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common”. God’s (Jesus) viewpoint was revealed. One would be very unwise too view anyone any differently than the way the Creator (Jesus) does; “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons”. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  22. “The Spirit of Revival is in the air”
    1. Cornelius was a devout man; he feared God and prayed to God alway; and he gave much alms to the people. He was a good man but was not saved. He was a Hungry Soul.
    2. Peter was a man with a Vision.

Vision + Hungry Souls = REVIVAL.

We have been prophecied to that we are going to have a 300 Soul Revival.
We need a Vision. ( “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”). I believe God is going to send us Hungry Souls, and we are going to be lead to Hungry Souls. When we knock on a door or put a flier on a door, there are Hungry Souls inside that home. We need to reach these souls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Home Bible Studies). We need to tell them that they too can be saved through the Salvation Plan. Repentance, Baptism in Jesus Name, and infilling of the Holy Ghost.

    Let’s get EXCITED!
    Let’s get INVOLVED!
    Let’s get a VISION!
    Let’s reach the HUNGRY SOULS!
Let’s teach a HOME BIBLE STUDY!

  23. In the scripture we notice that Cornelius was said to be a devout and just man, one who feared God, he fasted, and had a good report among all the nation of the Jews. Cornelius prayed, gave alms in the fear of God, stayed religious, kept up religion in his family, and most importantly believed with all his heart in the Lord Jesus.

What are the words of Jesus on this?
Mat 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Mat 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mat 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
    Mat 6:17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
Mat 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

You see that Cornelius followed the commandments to a tee. And his reward was a answered prayer.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  24. God takes notice!

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

God takes notice of your works, it is shown clearly in this verses. Work alone can not save you, but faith, obedience, coupled with works will definitely get God’s attention. So do not give up, keep praying, keep giving, keep working, faint not and you will reap a harvest.

    Read Proverbs Chapter 17

    The Whole Salvation…
Even though Cornelius was devout, and a praying man, even though he gave much alms to the people and feared God with all his house. He still was not doing everything God wanted him to do to be saved. Instead God lead him into all truth by sending him an Angel and Peter to preach to him the whole gospel!! The whole truth and nothing but the truth! The repent, be baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost message!!

    • YES!!!
THIS IS HOW MANY LIVE IN MANY OTHER CHURCHES!!! THE TRUTH is not being taught!!! Maybe we can be as that angel to tell the world….(to tell the truth)

  26. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Thank you for the blood. Thank you for your loving kindness. How can anyone read this and not be thankful that The Lord died and rose again in victory for us. An this huge act of love is for everyone. He layed down His life for us. God is not a respecter of persons. He does great wonders with what is broken. What God has cleansed and justified through the blood of Jesus has become a new creature. It is incredible just to think that on the most unthinkable person to the human naked eye, God sees the next great man of God. V35 says, He that feareth and worketh righteousness is accepted by Him. Thank you Jesus for the blood I’d like to say again. The Lord is good and His mercy endureth forever.

  27. YES!!!
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Although I had been filled with the HOLY GHOST with the evidence of speaking in tongues and I had read the entire Bible several times, I had not been taught the verses that follow this verse “neither was it important or required ” for us Christians to follow or teach this command of GOD. It was “only given to certain people but not for everyone”!!! We are blessed to know the truth, so that we should tell everybody the truth as well!!! JESUS I PRAISE AND MAGNIFY YOU!!! ONLY YOU ARE WORTHY!!! I LOVE YOU JESUS!!! THANK YOU FOR SUCH GREAT MERCY!!! THANK YOU, FOR YOU COULD’VE CUT ME OFF AND YOU DIDNT AND I PRAISE YOU JESUS!!! THANK YOU DADDY!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  28. 17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

No matter who you are, there is always going to be times when the Word of God will leave you with questions.

Many people all over this reigion are just like Cornelius, hungry for more of Jesus. They’re wanting a touch from God, and His church is the key to unlocknng to door for so many souls to come to the knowledge of Christ, but how many are willing to do the work of turning the key?

Peter went to a house full of people he didn’t know, of a different religion, who weren’t even suppose to be having his people over as guests, but today, we have a hard time talking to our next door neighbors, whom we have known for years, and even attended the same church with from time to time.

The Word tells us that the steps of a righteous man are ordered, so if we really are His people, making up His church, why do we walk in such fear. Maybe it’s because we too doubt the very Words of God that we have read over and over again . As te church, we must BOLDLY stand up an proclaim His word to all.

  29. 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

There is no formula to the gift of the Holy Ghost. Some believe that if you do and say all the right stuff that the Holy Ghost is like a secret potion that magically occurs. The truth is that only God himself can reveal his spirit to someone and the “church ” has no control over it. You can be used by God to lead someone to him but in the end it will always be God revealing when it is right to him. We shouldn’t judge so much when someone doesn’t have the Holy Ghost. Gods plan wasn’t for the Gentiles to perish without salvation. Who can forbid water?

  30. Clean and Unclean

From his childhood Peter had been taught what was clean and unclean. Certain food could be eaten with gladness; other were forbidden. Only Jews could enter the home of a devout Jew, sit at the table and enjoy the intimacy of fellowship -Gentiles were not numbered among those people. Peter is about to have his whole worldwiew rocked to its foundations. In his vision he sees many animals that are on the “unclean” and “be sure to avoid” list. Yet the Lord says to him “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.” (vs13). Moments later he is invited to go to the home of a Gentile. Jesus came to heal the Jews, but the Gentiles, like the Jews have need of Him. He is the light of the world, and he came to save those who where lost. Gentiles are in the dark about Jesus all tother, this is why Cornelius is so hungry for the truth. Hungry for Jesus. In this invitation Peter is expected to enter the home and share fellowship with an “unclean” person, he is called to preach the gospel and offer to this man the table fellowship of the kingdom of God. Peter is learning the same lesson that applies to us today: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean” (Acts 10:15). Just because a person is of another religion or don’t have any faith at all doesn’t mean they cannot. Eveyone needs Jesus, even if they think they know everything, when we show them the light of God’s Word they can be sharpened. They will never know unless we share it with them. The Lord desires to cleanse them with his blood, which he shed for all so that sins may be forgiven. How else would they know it, unless we reach them. We need to stretch and reach, go and teach. No one is beyond God’s grace.

  31. It’s ok to talk

When fasting it is alright to tell specific people about your fast or revelations acheived through fasting. Cornelius told Peter about his, but it was not for pity. It was not bragging. It was not for peter’s approval, it was for a specific purpose.

As we seek to rid ourselves of self and become closer to God we have to examine how and why we tell people things.

  32. 28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Even our personal ideology and traditions will be challenged when it comes to doing God’s will. We are such creatures of habit and are often trapped by the opinions of those that raised us.

I am thankful that the Lord’s view of me is different from the religious, otherwise I may still be lost in a world of sin.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

3 Times Peter had to see the vision before it sunk into his spirit.

  33. So they talked together and went inside, where many others were assembled. Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?” So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days. (Acts of the Apostles 10:27, 44-48 NLT)

This chapter is so incredible to read. These people were so hungry and egar to hear the message of the Lord. And without hesitation Peter shared what he had exprianced. And Jesus Christ did the rest. God is no respecter of persons. The Holy Ghost is for everyone.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. (Acts 10:34, 35 KJV)

  34. A gift of the Holy Ghost….you can’t earn him nor is he for sale. Thanks be the God for the gift, and the gift of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, and once again you can’t earn it by doing good works. All have sin and fallen short to the glory of God.

    “Be blessed”……………………. .

  35. It is the will of God for everyone to receive the Holy Spirit and be in unity. Lord I seek you in that place where I can be with you.

  36. 9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

Prayer was the key to the sensitivity of the spirit. It prepared Peter so that when the servant of Cornelius came to him, he already had the word to speak. This is a daily principle we should live by: Preparing ourselves in the spirit for those individuals that God is going to strategically place in our path to tell them who Jesus is!

  37. 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

In our walk with Christ it is important that we remember that God will send people our way that He will ask us to go with them and not boubt. It may be as simple as a new way of outreach or a new way of doing tasks but we must not doubt but do.

  38. Cornelius’s Vision 1. There was a certain man in Caes-a=re’-a called Cor-ne’-lius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. 3. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cor-ne’-li-us. 4. And when he looked on him,he was afraid, and said, What is it Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 5. And now send men to Jop’-pa, and call for one Si’-mon, whose surname is Pe’-ter: 6. He lodgeth with one Si’-mon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtestto do. 7. And when the angel which spake unto Cor-ne’-li-us was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier oof them that waited on him continually; 8. And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Jop’-pa.

  39. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Once we are born again in the water and spirit we are no longer our old selves but new creatures. We are not of this world anymore, God has opened our eyes to a completely different realm of battles. We are not common and we shouldn’t try to act it. Embrace your new identity.

  40. In this chapter, we see that this Gospel is for everyone. There is no one person better than another in God’s eyes (based on education, background, race, color or nationality, etc.). We are to reach the lost……..period.
