  1. 1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

A word of caution to us, when we began to speak vanity, with a double heart we begin to fail from being a faithful servant of the Lord. We are warned many times in the word of God regarding speaking vanity, lies, gossip any how much the Lord hates it. A double minded is unstable in all his ways, and out of the abundance of his heart the mouth speaks. Therefore, if we are gossiping, speaking vanity, lies etc, we are being double hearted, double minded. We must be purged from those tendencies that cause us to be ungodly in our actions and attitudes.

Proverbs 16:23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. 24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

  2. 1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

HELP LORD, There is help from the Lord if we do what is right, but we see here that the writer speaks, a Godly man ceaseth for the faithful fail to be faithful.
When we are no longer faithful we will began to speak evil of our neighbor and speak with a forked tongue and a double heart.
The Word teaches us a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
If the man that speaks these things against his neighbor continues in his ways.
The Lord will cut off allflattering lips and the tongue that speaks of his proud ways, God hates even to a proud look, much less pride. When pride sets in we say, Who is the LOrd? We feel God no longer sees us, God always knows!!!
    KEEP YOUR TONGUE!!!

  3. Sound mind

    Psalms 12:3-5
Slice their lips off their faces! Pull
The braggart tongues from their mouths!
I’m tired of hearing, “We can talk anyone into anything!
    Our lips manage the world.”
Into the hovels of the poor,
Into the dark streets where the homeless groan, God speaks:
“I’ve had enough; I’m on my way
To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched.”

The word double heart in the KJV is the same word twice.

Leb – midst (of things) heart (of man) soul, heart (of man) mind, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory inclination, resolution, determination (of will) conscience heart (of moral character) as seat of appetites as seat of emotions and passions as seat of courage

No man can live with two different minds. Yet many have a dual motive. Though they want to please God, they want to please themselves.

Compromise says let’s do something to satisfy both parties. There is no compromise in the kingdom. This is selective submission.

God wants our whole heart, mind, and strength.

    Revelation 3:15-16
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Crucifixion of flesh can only be accomplished when the whole body submits. Jesus had to let them nail his right hand to the cross.

    2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Sound mind – discipline, self control

    James 1:8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Double minded – two spirited, divided

  4. 3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

Pride goeth before destruction. Every prideful spirit shall be cut off. Humbleness will help get you to heaven and pride will put you in hell.

  5. 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

    Psalm 68:1 KJV
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

  6. 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

  7. Pride
3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

Pride is the evil counsel here. Once we become proud we speak too much, we speak out of place, we fill our mouth with lies or hypocrisy. You see I don’t think flattering a person is a sin as long as it is true, for honor is given where honor is due; but once we start speaking hypocritical and say one thing in front and then turn around and speak ill of them that is a sin. The root of it all is pride.

  8. BE CAREFUL LITTLE MOUTH WHAT YOU SAY

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The safest, surest, words we can speak out of our mouth are the words of our LORD JESUS.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Our LORD has spoken WORDS of eternal life, that are settled forever in the heavens, earth and hell. HIS words are pure and proven, tried and truthful, purified and powerful. We are wise and safe to speak what the WORD of the LORD has alread established.

Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Trouble is loosed in our lives when we speak what the heart and mind of man wishes.

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

In attempt to impress others through pride, we often speak words of vanity, vain words with no meaning, no character, no integrity and no truth.

I have heard it stated and witnessed it also. “A man is only as good as his word.”

    The Preacher said;

Ecclesiastes 2:17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

VANITY – 1892. hebel, heh´bel; emptiness or vanity; figuratively, something transitory and unsatisfactory; often used as an adverb:—x altogether, vain, vanity.

Empty words from empty hearts, what a description of our generation.

    SOLUTION:
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Speak WORDS of LIFE today into your own life and into the lives of those around you.

    iRepent of sin
    iPraise JESUS the King
    iPray in intercession
    iSpeak the WORD of GOD
iWork for JESUS while it is day
    iGive myself to JESUS
    iReap eternal LIFE in JESUS

  9. iLove to eat the Word

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

Why in the world would the Lord be upset over someone trying to flatter someone?

    flat·ter
    ˈflatər
    verb
    1.
lavish insincere praise and compliments upon (someone), esp. to further one’s own interests.
“she was flattering him to avoid doing what he wanted”
synonyms: compliment, praise, express admiration for, say nice things about, fawn over

Because it is selfish and insincere and is used to push one’s own agenda. GOD HATES flattery.

  10. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things, (Psalms 12:3 NKJV)

God will shut up the pagans that talk to much…

  11. 3 May the Lord cut off their flattering lips and silence their boastful tongues.
4 They say, “We will lie to our hearts’ content. Our lips are our own—who can stop us?” (NLT)

How prideful and ignorant to be this way. Nothing is your own and The Lord will protect His people from such deceit.

  12. 3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

Oh be careful little tongue what you say for the father up above is listening. The truth will set you free. What ever we speak has the potential of coming to pass. The reason why I say potential is because it depends on how much faith you put in it. Just like when making cookies. It will depend on how much of each ingredient you put in it will determine how good they are. So be careful what you say. It will make all the difference.

  13. 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

The words we speak let everyone know if we are on God’s side or the devils!!
Oh be careful little mouth what you say
There’s a Father up above looking down with tender love,Oh be careful little mouth what you say!!
God hears every word we say and knows every thought we think, so let’s make sure we are thinking right before we speak!!
Words are something you can’t take back, they can build a person up or tear him down!!!Lord help me to be mindful in all that I say and do!!

  14. Oh be careful little mouth what you say
Oh be careful little mouth what you say
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little mouth what you say

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. KJV

  15. 3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

Be careful of what you say. Everything you say affects people. You can choose to help build them back up with your words or to tear them down with your words. Choose wisely, God’s always listening!

  16. 3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

Lord help us to always stay humble and give you the glory. Let no pride arise in our hearts I pray we stay humble in Jesus name. Thank you lord for protecting the humble and the meek thank you for keeping the poor and needy from thier enemies

  17. Words

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words can wound our spirit. Words are powerful to bring blessing or cursing. But God is faithful, and He offers protection not just from physical attack but also the attack of words. We can’t stop words in the way we can stop a physical weapon but God, the ultimate Word, can deal with the fallen words of death. His words are pure, in contrast to the death that is the enemy’s lies and cursing.

To put our trust in God when others are speaking death to us, there is more than simply saying “well I don’t receive that death, but I’ll just wait to see what good God has for me;” putting our trust in God means actively making His pure Word our refuge. His Word will give light to the darkness, hope to desperate situations, direction to muddled circumstances, peace in the storm, sustenance to the wearied… His Word will provide for us if we will make it more than the trusty old Bible on the shelf but rather our daily Bread. His Word must be more than just “a good idea” for us, it must be our rock foundation and daily portion. When attacks do come, we will find a better defence in a daily communion of His Word than a band-aid scripture search because there’s not enough Manna left within to answer the attacks without.

    Psalm 66:8-9 AMP
8 Bless our God, O peoples, give Him grateful thanks and make the voice of His praise be heard,

9 Who put and kept us among the living, and has not allowed our feet to slip.

    Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

  18. 6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

It’s amazing that for generations, years and more than we can imagine that the bible has continued and will continue to live on, just like our God. Jesus will not ever fade away from the world.

  19. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

If we choose to live and talk in deception we may fool others but really we only fool ourselves. God is not fooled by what we say, He knows our hearts.

    Isaiah 29:13
    Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth,
and with their lips do honour me,
but have removed their heart far from me,
and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

  20. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips and the tongues that speak proud boasting, Those who say, With our tongues we prevail; our lips are our own [to command at our will]–who is lord and master over us? (Psalm 12:3, 4 AMP)

After you have been born again you are no longer your own. We become completely 100% to God. Just a thought : if we would think as God thinks, act as got acts, speak what God speaks possibly we would be able to see more miracles. This scripture speaks against those who command things at their own will. Lord help me be in tune with your Spirit and Voice.

And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. (1 John 5:14 AMP)

  21. The words and promises of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times over. (Psalm 12:6 AMP)

I’m thankful that I can TRULY TRUST HIM at His word!!!! Many people can tell you this and that, but fall short! So don’t put your trust in vain conversations with the world that only gives you a false hope!

    Trust on The Lord !!!

  22. God deals with those who boast in arrogance and spew venom and think that they can get away with evil speech because they act like God is not watching or that God is not care.

  23. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

  24. The lord replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.” Therefore, lord, we know you will protect the oppressed, preserving them forever from this lying generation, (Psalms 12:5, 7 NLT)

He will protect us. Do not let people lie to you and say God’s not real, or that he will not be there to help you out. Lots of people try to put me down or tell me God isn’t real . Or why do you have long hair or why do you always ware skirts. It’s hard to not back out on God , just so you can fit in. But I know the truth I may back out here and there even when I’m down,God will be there.

  25. I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. 1. HELP, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2. They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. Ps. 10:7 Rom. 16:18 3. The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 1 Sam. 2:3 4. Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5. For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

  26. Vs.2, “They speak vanity (vain, futile, idle, or worthless words) every one with his neighbour: with flattering (praise to much, untrue, and insincere) lips and with a double (two-faced, deceiving) heart do they speak.”
Vs.3, “The LORD shall cut off all flattering (praise to much, untrue, and insincere) lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud (arrogant and haughty) things.”

Jesus said in Matt. 12:36-37, “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

  27. Lord I pray that you help us (me) always speak your truth. There is a song that says:

Let them see You In me
Let them hear You When I speak
Let them feel You When I sing
    Let them see You
    Let them see You
    In me

    this is my prayer.

  28. “The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted”. David petitioned the Lord (Jesus), as he was weary of all the deceitfulness. When one becomes tired of the deceivers (satan) lying and deception, one will react, one that is wise will petition (pray) the Lord as David did. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  29. 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

Do we come to the aid of our poor and thneedy friends?

  30. 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

There is so much power in the spoken word. The Lord our God spoke the world into existence. We can do so much good or so much bad with the things we say. When we pray we are speaking to God the word of God tells us to cry out to Him in time of need. In order for us to speak, truths, encouragement and life, we need to get the Word in us. We have to invest into ourselves daily with the word of God and let it minister to us first the we can share life to others. What we put it that we will give out.
We should pay close attention to what we speak into our lives and the lives of others..

Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouthand the meditation of my heartbe pleasing to you,O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

  31. 6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

What an awesome promise we have of God. We can be assured that we have his word preserved today so we can be confident in him.
