Psalm 13

1 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

  1. But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the lord because he is good to me. (Psalms 13:5, 6 NLT)

    There’s that word again “Trust,”
You must trust that God will bring you out of any situation! Believe His word, His promises that he has for you. Knowing that He will take care of you , for he His your refuge, your strength, he will hide you under the shadow of his wings! Through all of your trials…. Praise your way through!
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me. (Micah 7:8 KJV)

  2. 1 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

    3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
When we pray and God does not answer our prayers, we feel he has hid his face from us.
The christian should never have sorrow in our hearts, but should be filled with gladness. With JOY we should draw water out of the wells of salvation.
Our enemy should always fear us, when we seek God and trust in him with our whole heart.
We should never feel fear that God does not hear us, if this is the case. We should check our lives for sin and repent, where we would not sleep the sleep of death. We need to make our calling and election sure!!!

  3. At times we may feel as if the Lord has forsaken us, but when the answer comes we have joy in our heart. We should have joy at all times for God is always faithful to those that hear and obey his voice.

  4. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

When we cannot feel Him, we must remember who He is and that He loves us more than we could ever imagine, and that He is worthy of all praise regardless of how any of us feel….

  5. Verses5-6 AMP “But I have trusted, leaned on, and been confident in Your mercy and loving-kindness; my heart shall rejoice and be in high spirits in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.”

Same verses MSG “I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms—I’m celebrating your rescue. I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers.”

The next time the devil tries to even bring you down on your situation or brings lies your direction, sideswipe him with a list of your answered prayers!!

  6. iLove to eat the Word

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

This Psalm starts off and continues throughout as a song of persecution and distress. The amazing attribute of David however, is praise and worship. You can’t keep a praiser down for long and David continues to exalt the Lord and lift him up. God always delivers his praisers, sometimes it takes awhile, but a true praiser will not stop praising because of circumstances, but the circumstances will cause the praiser to praise harder.

  7. 4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

  8. Psalm 13 The distance between four occurrences of How long, punctuated with question marks(vv. 1,2), and the confident and joyful song at the end (v.6) is covered only with prayer (vv.3,4) and trust (v.5).

13:5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

  9. 1 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
If we are all honest with ourselves how many of us have prayed and felt like God wasn’t hearing us? I will be the first to say I have been in that situation before, but I have to tell myself God is an on time God and he will answer in due time.
This verse reminds me of another verse: Jesus will never leave us or forsake us..Hebrews 13:5

  10. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

  11. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

I trust you Lord with my whole heart!! I put my life in your mercy, grace, and in your love. Cause I know you will lead me down the right path you will guid my every step so I won’t stumble and fall.

  12. There is JOY in SALVATION!!!!
5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

I will always find JOY in your salvation and sing to you daily my Lord. Thank you Jesus for your Mercy is everlasting.

  13. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
I rejoice because God saved me!! His mercy is so great,I am so blessed !!
We need to share this salvation plan so that others can rejoice over God’s love and mercy saving them from destruction also!!

  14. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Teach me to trust in you God.. in any and every situation I want to lean on you completely. Myart longs for you and I will rejoice because you set me free. But through all my rejoicing don’t let me loose focus. Through my trials don’t let me loose hope. I need you Jesus, thank you for your mercy and your faithfulness. Teach me to trust on you Jesus.

  15. Trust in the Salvation of the Lord 3. Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

  16. If we are all honest with ourselves we would admit that at some point in our walk we have felt deserted but if we are walking in righteousness and maintaining our integrity we are not. Sometimes feelings can trick you. He will not leave us.
The tone of the chaptet changes after David says “but I have trusted in thy mercy” this is key when you feel your in the desert. Trust Him lift up your head and sing. Ive got a song in My heart!

  17. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Although David was questioning where God was when he felt overwhelmed by the attack of his enemies, he still had a song in his heart. We must never lose our song! Many times I have sat at the keyboard and just played the simplest songs: Jesus loves me, Oh How I Love Jesus, etc when I have felt alone or overwhelmed by circumstances and situations, and the presence of the Lord has rushed in and enveloped me with that love. We can’t let anything or any situation take our song. God gave us all a song that even the angels cannot sing. It is a song of victory, it is a song of joy, it is a song of peace. SING! SING! SING!

  18. JOY REVIVAL

5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

We complicate our lives and the Kingdom of GOD when we fail to find our source of JOY in JESUS and HIS saving GRACE. The wastes billions of hours and dollars every day seeking and searching for a person or event; something that will bring joy.

Knowing JESUS through HIS plan of the New Birth experience of salvation, brings the source of JOY right into our heart to live through us. (Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.)

We must be honest with ourselves, if we or the people close to us that we trust recognize that our JOY is lacking or absent, we must be willing to drop everything and SEEk the LORD with our whole heart and pray until we have a JOY REVIVAL.

JOY is not only a fruit of the SPIRIT it is a proof of the SPIRIT. True JOY can only be found in the fact that JESUS spared us from the eternal death we all deserve. JOY is the drive of every believer and therefore attacked on a continual basis, with challenges, disappointments and frustrations.

David understood that in the absence of JOY the only task is a JOY REVIVAL.
Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

The prophet Nehemiah declared to us the eternal importance of a JOY REVIVAL.
Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Fulfilling the will of GOD is the path to a JOY REVIVAL
Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Receiving the WORD of GOD and being filled with the Holy Ghost are the sources to a JOY REVIVAL.
1Thessalonians 1:6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

Easter Sunday is upon us and this should be the most joyous time we experience because of HIS death for our sins, burial for our transgressions and resurrection for our LIFE.

Make time everyday for a JOY REVIVAL!

JESUS is as close as the mention of HIS name JESUS>

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iJoy
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  19. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

God I thank you and I’ll praise you, not only have you died for me and saved me but you’ve put up with all the things I’ve done. But you never left me, never hated me or anything….you still forgave me. So thank you Jesus. I love you

  20. Sing!

6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

In the midst of suffering, it can be easy to forget all that God has done. This Psalm is one of my favorites, and this verse in particular was one I went to time and again in times of hurt in my life. I went through pain and trouble I didn’t understand or have an answer for but I would speak by faith that God had dealt bountifully with me and it began to be an anthem of hope when the trouble and pain started to overwhelm me. We may not always feel like we can find our blessings to count them but that’s where we find ourselves walking by faith and not sight. Our song may be written in the key of Faith but we all can sing that song of praise because God has dealt bountifully with each of us.

    Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

    Psalm 13:5
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

    Psalm 95:1
O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

  21. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

I recently heard a song where the chorus says, “I’ll trust you, Lord it’s not easy, sometimes the pain in my life, makes you seem far away, but I’ll trust you, I need to know you’re here, through the tears and the pain, through the heartache and rain, I’ll trust you.” David questioned where God was but through the midst of his hurt he still chose to trust God; we too should always remember no matter what, to trust in the Lord.

  22. I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms— I’m celebrating your rescue. I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers. (Psalm 13:5, 6 MSG)

Dive in head first into God. And praise Him for being good. Count your blessings and name them one by one. And SING a song of His faithfulness.

“Sing praise-songs to God. He’s done it all! Let the whole earth know what he’s done! Raise the roof! Sing your hearts out, O Zion! The Greatest lives among you: The Holy of Israel.” (Isaiah 12:5, 6 MSG)

  23. 4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

    Amen…………………………..

  24. Sometimes, the trials and tests we go through may seem long, and we may even ask God, “How Long, Lord” is this going to last. But, if we remember to Trust in the Mercy of God, Rejoice in His Salvation, and remember His Goodness to us, then we will begin to feel a song rise up within our hearts.

Sometimes, we just have to encourage ourselves in the Lord.

Eph.5:19-20 says, “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

  25. NLT 1 O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
2 How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand?

The sounds of a defeated man, someone who wants to quit, and has no faith.

He should be saying, God you will never leave my side, wont forget me, I will never fear troubles, I will have joy in my heart every day, my enemies will envy my blessings!!

  26. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
I trust in you God with my whole heart.I will sing and rejoice for what you are going to do with me God! 🙂

  27. “I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me”. David was in the midst of it, yet he praised the Lord (Jesus). One may not understand, especially when one is in the midst of it, none the less one must praise God (Jesus), for all he hath done, and all he will do. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  28. Psalms 13:1
HOW LONG will You forget me, O Lord? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

    Psalms 13:5-6
But I have trusted, leaned on, and been confident in Your mercy and loving- kindness; my heart shall rejoice and be in high spirits in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.
    Psalm 14
To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David.

It’s about how we end. It is ok to open up to God about how we feel about him, life, and situations. Yet no matter what we say we must always come to the realization of who he is, and who we are in him.

He will never leave us or forsake us, and will not leave us unfinished.

I may have had a bad day, but I will praise you.
I was talked bad about, lied on, and mistreated still I will praise you!
Life may be rough sometimes, but it will be alright! I’m gonna praise you!

  29. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Some trust in chariots and others in horses, but we depend on the Lord our God. -Psalms 20:7NET

It is a wonderful thing to know that the Lord is our salvation.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved.” -Acts 4:12NET

  30. Psalm 13:1, 5-6 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.

I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

In those times of trail and trouble, when we begin to question where God is in the middle of it is where we must show our faith in whom we’ve trusted. Here we see that even the David whom God chose felt alone in the middle of his situation. He knew any had relationship so he questioned where are you Lord? Then somewhere in his heart, mind and expressed in his words, he remembered, where his joy really comes from. That he is not forgotten but forgiven. The joy of God’s salvation what can be sweetener and better that such? An eternity with the one who makes life complete, makes one whole. In the midst of every storm lies the opportunity of a great revival. What is really the reason for our hearts to be joyful if not such great salvation acquired at a great price of which we did not have to pay but simply follow Jesus.
There has been sometimes where I’ve turned to this chapter and relate to the feeling in ones heart.. How long Oh Lord? And as I grew in knowing The Lord and began to let go of fear and trust in Him I began to see of how blessed I am and to praise Him for all He has done already for me. He is worthy of honor and praise. In the middle of a trail or storm is the opportunity for God to show himself might and work his miracles, sings and wonders.

Psalm 34:6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,And saved him out of all his troubles.

Psalm 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Psalm 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

  31. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation
.6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
I will sing unto the Lord…
Praise to God is one of the greatest ways we can show our thankfulness to him for all he has done for us.

    So many times all we see is the problem. Life is overwhelming at times. Worry doesn’t add to our lives, so what do we do? We call on God. He is where our help comes from. His praises should be on our lips. We can tell the influence of worldly things on us when we are calling out to Him through the songs in our heads. If we are thinking of a song about building a snowman or the cold, too much world. If we are thinking about a song that is the precious blood of the lamb, that is JESUS. So what song of you hear when there is no music?}

  33. 6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

There are blessings in praising the one true God.
