Psalm 14

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.

5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the Lord is his refuge.

7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

  1. 7,OH THAT THE SALVATION OF ISREAL WERE COME OUT OF ZION WHEN THE LORD BRINGETH BACK THE CAPTIVITY OF HIS PEOPLE, JACOB SHALL REJOICE. AND ISREAL SHALL BE GLAD.

  2. iLove to eat the Word

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This is why our pastor presses us so hard my brothers and sisters. The fallen nature of man is to sit back and relax…relax standards and purity. But we cannot afford to sit back and allow God to call us filthy. We must cleanse ourselves with daily prayer and daily bible reading.

  3. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

For the longest time I thought this was meaning people who were atheist. I have been struck with a revelation this morning that there are times when believers might think there is no God, or at least what can God do, or nothing can be done. These thoughts limit God or make Him not exist. Even if they are fleeting, that is foolish. We may not soak them aloud, but those thoughts that were in our heart ARE FOOLISH!

Jesus help me not to be a fool. Help my unbelief. Lord I want to trust you completely. Amen

  4. 2. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

We seek a lot of things; everyone has their own goal or prize they are chasing but God is still looking for people to seek Him.

    Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  5. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
People in this world keep acting crazy, doing harm, and not doing any good. They justify their works by saying there is no God. There is no hell and there is no Heaven. It will be a rude awakening when Christ the Lord returns for His people and they realized they were wrong.

  6. 2 The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.
3 But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! (NLT)

We all fall short and no one is perfect. We all have faults whether we chose to admit them or not. God knows the honesty of our hearts. He is looking for His people to stand out so He can say, “This one right here is my child,” He wants us to be obedient and honorable vessels that He can use.

  7. iSeek

2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

The all knowing, all seeing eye of the LORD is looking upon us. Our every word, act and thought are known by JESUS. How pleasing it must be for the LORD to find hungry hearts and lives that understand the importance of eternity and seek the LORD to KNOW him.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iSeek
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  8. “To see if there were any that did understand, and seek God”. There was much deception and very little true God (Jesus) seeking. There is today, much deception and very little true God (Jesus) seeking, for the deceiver (satan) is busy, as he knows time is short. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  9. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Whenever God looks down from his holy hill I pray that he would see me seeking him. I know that sometimes we mess up but I don’t want to be paired up with the children of iniquity, I want to have a heart after Gods heart and I pray that he sees that…

  10. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Thank God I was shown the light. And I’m a fool and wasn’t blind all my life…I have to bring people to the light.

  11. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

    Luke 6:45
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

  12. The fool[a] says in his heart,
    “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good. NIV

Working where I work at I am surprised at the people that says there is no God and they don’t need God, but who do they come to when something is wrong or they need prayer? We as a church have to be a witness to the lost and dying world, the way you live and talk is the best testimony you can give someone. I want the world to know that God is alive and still doing miracles, signs and wonders.

  13. 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

  14. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

There is one thing about a person that is seeking God, that person does not have to jump up and down and say here I am but as we seek His eyes focus in on us.

I’ve been in a great place today… the presence of the almighty God but when I left my prayer closet I did not leave Him there but I’ve taken Him everywhere I’ve gone.

  15. Vs.1a, “The fool (a person with little or no judgement, common sense, wisdom, etc.; silly person; simpleton) hath said in his heart, There is no God…”

Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:”
Isaiah 43:3a says, “For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour…”
Isaiah 43:10-11 says, “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servants whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”

  16. Psalms 14:5
There they shall be in great fear [literally—dreading a dread], for God is with the generation of the [uncompromisingly] righteous (those upright and in right standing with Him).

I like the Amp version here. It says
uncompromisingly righteous. This means never willing to cut corners. This means never living a way that tries to satisfy the spirit and the flesh.

A light only shines bright with zero restrictions. Compromise dims the light.

  17. Our Help

6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the Lord is his refuge.

7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

    Psalm 121:1-2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Sometimes it’s not clear where our help is. Situations can seem oppressive and trials unending. But when natural help is nowhere to be found, we find that God can show Himself mighty. We must lift our eyes up off of the problems and onto Jesus who is our help. Even when no one and nothing else seems to be on our side, God is still more than enough.

  18. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

The Lord looks down from heaven at the human race, to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God. -Psalms 14:2NET
Everyone rejects God; they are all morally corrupt. None of them does what is right, not even one! -Psalms 14:3NET

“I looked for a man from among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one. -Ezekiel 22:30
Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD. -Ezekiel 22:31

I looked, but there was no one to help; I was shocked because there was no one offering support. So my right arm accomplished deliverance; my raging anger drove me on. -Isaiah 63:5

  19. The fate of the fool 1. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 2. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. Ps. 33: 13 3.They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

  20. 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

It is the heart of the unrighteous, the foolish who says there is no God. God sits high and looks low and He sees everything that we do, our coming and our going. He knows the very intents of our heart. Therefore, we must be wise in what we say and speak. For we will give an account for everything that we say, whether it be verbally or even on paper. We will give an account!

  21. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.

It is a foolish thing to not know the Lord. Above all and any knowledge you can acquire, what is more important than knowing God. It’s almost as if in verse 2 we are told don’t you get it? The key to life is to seek God. We know from proverbs that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of The Lord. The key to life is to seek God

    Acts 17:28
for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

    Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
