Psalm 16

1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  1. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Outside of His presence, there is no fulness of joy and pleasure lasts only for a season.

    שׁמר

    shaw-mar’
A primitive root; properly to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to, etc.: – beware, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep (-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man).

David was asking the Lord to protect his life. We should always ask for the Lords protection and expect his provision.

  3. THE KEY TO JOY AND SAFETY

8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

As we set the LORD before us always; in every situation, in every decision, in every opportunity and in every way; we establish the order of our lives according to the order of the Kingdom of GOD. GOD was before ALL things.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Peace in our heart and joy in our lives are found as we PLACE GOD FIRST or BEFORE us. We are founded on the solid rock Christ JESUS and he said:

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

THE KEY TO JOY AND SAFETY is to keep JESUS before everything in our life.

  4. Living The Blessed Life

    Psalm 16:6
The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

    Psalm 16:6 NLT
The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!

Living for the Lord is not always some easy stroll through life, yes often it is a difficult battle. But no matter what trial or storm, we can still say we are living the blessed life. This life in Christ is a taste of the goodly heritage we have in Him and He proves that the “lot in life” He gives is pleasant indeed. If we look at the trials and storms, we will be tempted to be discouraged; but if we keep our eyes on Him as our portion, we will find just how blessed we are to be His bride.

    Psalm 16:8-11
8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

    Psalm 13:6
I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

  5. “For in thee do I put my trust”. David chose and was steadfast in God (Jesus). One must make a choice on whom one will serve, one that chooses Jesus (God) will truly have life; “in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore”. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  6. v9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope .

When we possess ultimate faith and confidence in GOD our hope will never waver.
    We will experience Victory !

Psalm 118:8 — It’s better to put trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

  7. I have set the Lord before me, verse 8 said it so plain, i want the Lord on my right hand and follow his paths. If we follow the paths of the Lord and trust in him, we will recieve gladness and be filled with joy. Our walk with God should be a walk of joy, not unhappiness.

  8. Resurrection in HIM
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

As long as I abide and dwell in HIM, I will have joy everlasting joy!!!!!!!

  9. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  10. 16 1-2 Keep me safe, O God, I’ve run for dear life to you.
I say to God, “Be my Lord!” Without you, nothing makes sense.
3 And these God-chosen lives all around, what splendid friends they make!
4 Don’t just go shopping for a god. Gods are not for sale.
    I swear I’ll never treat god-names like brand-names.
5-6 My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I’m your choice!
You set me up with a house and yard. And then you made me your heir!
7-8 The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake is confirmed by my sleeping heart. Day and night I’ll stick with God; I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go. 9-10 I’m happy from the inside out, and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed. You canceled my ticket to hell— that’s not my destination!
11 Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face.
Ever since you took my hand I’m on the right way.

The purchase of my life through His death, gave me the opportunity to ensure my heavenly home, an heir to the throne, an inheritance which I don’t deserve. Yet He has become my SALVATION, my ROCK, my FORTRESS – in Him do I place my TRUST!

  11. I know the lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. (Psalms 16:8-11 NLT)

I trust in His word as He tells me that he will never leave me nor forsake me!!
I am safe in His arms!

  12. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

This is so true. When we walk upright, we are walking the right way. There is joy in the path of life. These people who don’t have joy are not walking in the path of life. True life is when we receive the Holy Ghost. This us true life.

  13. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

The answer to joy and pleasures is not found in the world. The answer is found in prayer and worship.

The enemy fights our devotion time because of what happens when Jesus shows up!

Take me into your presence Lord!

  14. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

His word is forever settled in heaven. His ways bring peace & joy.

  15. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Outside of God there really isn’t joy at at all. Anything that this world has to offer to appeal to the lust of the flesh is only like a sugar high that does not fulfill. After the “high” you’re back to empty looking for another thrill, or another way to numb the pain. It is only in God that we are: filled, changed, renewed, healed, made new, and made whole. It is only in His presence that we are able to experience life changing joy.
