Psalm 25

1 Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

  1. Patience and Trust

They go one with another in regards to trusting the Lord. If we trust the Lord, we will wait on him. It is easy to be misguided in life and make things happen on our own. There are many reasons we might have to wait for our answer, but our trust will be proven as we persevere. Sometimes, we will not even see the promise happen while we are alive. Elisha did not see the last miracle he was promised, and Abraham died waiting on the promise. One thing is for certain, whether in this life or the next, God’s word will come to fruition.

  2. In Jesus Name
11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

Here it is again for THY NAME’S sake. He gave me His Name!! Now, I need to keep the family name clear. Do not damage the family name. Do not drag it through the dirt with sin, and if I do, please forgive me for THY NAME’S sake. Clear my slate, make it new by Your Name. What a beautiful name JESUS! I just can’t get over it. He changed my NAME! I remember when I first got married to Paul and how my face will smile every time I signed my new name. Maria I. Van Ness-Rondon. Now that I really think about it. It is the same funny feeling inside, butterflies and all to know that my BELOVED GOD JESUS, gave me HIS NAME. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!

  3. 5. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

    21. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

If we will let Him lead us in His Truth and teach us, we will have integrity and uprightness. And if we wait on Him…

    Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  4. 9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

The meek shall inherit the earth. The meek and humble will be guided by the spirit of the Lord.
The greatest place on earth is to be meek or humble, many people have too much pride to allow meekness to enter into them.
The meek will be taught the ways of God, if we want to learn about Jesus, we must be meek.
The lesson of meekness is one that we must learn before the Lord will use us to any degree. The Lord will not allow anyone to to receive his glory, it is not what we do but what he does. We must be humble enough to allow God to always get the praise for what so ever is done for anyone.
None of us can heal, deliver, or do anything. God can do everything!
    TO GOD BE THE GLORY

  5. Verse 15 MSG “If I keep my eyes on God, I won’t trip over my own feet.” Psalm 37:23-24 CEV says “If you do what the Lord wants, he will make certain each step you take is sure. The Lord will hold your hand, and if you stumble, you still won’t fall.”

    Verse 21 MSG “Use all your skill to put me together;
I wait to see your finished product.” This verse reminds me of an old gospel song by the Hemphill’s “He’s Still Working On Me”.

  6. ilove to eat the Word

David wrote such beautiful Psalms about the grace and mercy of God. The one thing that really caught my attention was the fact that David was writing from experience and a relationship with God. He went through a lot of heartbreak and pain and he definately lets God know about it.

“17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.”

David does not blame God, but he simply believes that God will restore him and will repair him. Lesson learned…For us to have a testimony, we must go through a test…For a relationship, we must trust God through the test.

  7. 1 O Lord, I give my life to you.

4 Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow.
5 Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. (NLT)

Lead and guide me Lord, I put my trust in You!

  8. 5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

I serve a faithful God that will teach me and lead me while I wait on His return. He is also faithful and teaching while I wait through every storm, every fight, and every day of joy. Yet, there has always been something about waiting that I’ve never liked, and that is the passing of time. Something in me wants everything now but He has given me the wisdom to understand that the process of time is only to make me stronger or transform me to be even more like Him. In knowing this it is easier to stand and wait patiently on the King of Glory to reveal Himself in the fire.

What if the three Hebrew boys ran from the fire before they where thrown in or what if they would have been placed in the fire and after a few seconds got distracted and buckled under the pressure? They would have never experienced the joy of being covered by the King. They would have never experience the pleasure of facing those that where against them to testify about how God showed up in the fire.

People of God the storms many be raging and the struggle may be hard but trust Him because He is faithful. Today could be your “Red Letter Day”

    Be Blessed!

  9. The Fear of the Lord

Psalm 25:14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

Proverbs 3:32 For the froward(perverse person) is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.

  10. 15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

Who do we count on to pull us from the traps we fiind ourselves caught in? Is it ourselves? Our Pastor? Our parents? Spouse? Who?

If we are truly following Him, and His ways, and not our own ways, He will keep us, and when we fall, He will help us up…

  11. Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.

*God forget what I want forget what I want to do, forget what I see myself in the future. I wanna do what you have planned. I wanna learn how you think. Lord guid me. Help me!!

Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles! (Psalms 25:4, 22 NKJV)

Redeem me Jesus please you know I have troubles I face them every day!! Deliver me O God deliver me.
Thank you Jesus for your Redemption!

    Redemption is here!!!

  12. AM I TEACHABLE?

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

One of daily requests is for the LORD to create in me a vehement HUNGER and DESIRE for HIM, HIS ways, HIS path for my life and that I may KNOW HIM. This daily request is contingent only upon my willingness to be lead, instructed and corrected.

Meekness is a requirement listed to be teachable. I must be honest with myself and ask AM I TEACHABLE.

Meek – having or showing a quiet and gentle nature : not wanting to fight or argue with other people.

    Consider the Antonyms:
arrogant, bumptious, chesty, conceited, egotistic (or egotistical), fastuous, haughty, highfalutin (also hifalutin), high-and-mighty, high-handed, high-hat, hoity-toity, huffish, huffy, imperious, lordly, overweening, peremptory, pompous, presuming, presumptuous, pretentious, self-asserting, self-assertive, supercilious, superior, toplofty (also toploftical), uppish, uppity.

As I am willing to walk softly, humbly and hungry before the LORD; HE WILL TEACH ME!

Again we learn of the dangers of being stubborn, resistant, arrogant and rebellious. We must also consider the consequences of possessing any attitude other than meekness.

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Proverbs 21:4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

1Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

iPray daily for a meek and teachable spirit, we must also follow it with an attitude of hunger and willingness.

Isaiah 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

    TEACH ME OH LORD!

    iRepent
    iPray
    iLearn
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  13. 12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

The great responsibility of a teacher. There are many types of teachers in our lives. Parents, family, friends, church family, pastors, school teachers ,ect…. They all have the same job and that is to teach. Pray for your teachers in your life. They will and can help you. But the greatest teacher of all is our Heavenly Father ,Jesus. He is knowledge.

  14. 4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

Teach me thy ways Lord for my own ways will lead me into trouble. Thank you for forgiving me of my past I need you every day more and more Jesus. Teach me your ways Show me your paths Lord I need you thank you for your unfailing mercies

  15. 2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. 3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

When we trust someone, our actions show that we trust them, and those same actions show we are not ashamed to the commitment it takes to show that trust. Likewise, if we are ashamed of God, we display lack of trust in our relationship with Him, then we block any assistance that His Word promises us that He will provide for us. He is declared our Rock, our Buckler, our Shield, our Protector, but He will only come to our rescue through relationship.

    Luke 9:26
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

  16. Vs.4, “Shew me thy ways, O LORD: teach me thy paths.”
Vs.5, “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

I believe there is an answer to verses 4 & 5.
Vs.9, “The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.”
Vs.10, “All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant an his testimonies.”
Vs.12, “What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.”

If we want the LORD to shew us his ways, teach us his paths, and lead us in his truth, we must BE MEEK (humble); we must KEEP HIS COVENANT and TESTIMONIES; and FEAR THE LORD.

  17. 6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.
11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

These scriptures remind me of the message I heard preached “The sure mercies of David”. Although David sinned he was quick to repent and fall upon God’s judgement rather than man’s. We are assured that his mercy endures forever when we fear the Lord and choose his ways.

  18. 7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Although God knows all, he chooses forgetfulness in our sins. His mercy is everlasting.

    1 Chronicles 16:24
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

  19. 8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

I’m thankful that God loves humanity enough to look past our sins and see our potential. He loves us enough to reach across the separation and lead and teach us in the way, the ones who will follow. As the body of Christ we are an extension of that love. We are meant to look past the sin of others and see the soul. We are the hands and feet of God. God has sent us to teach the world, it’s through His people that God reaches the lost.

    Matthew 28:19
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

  20. 21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

Ah, waiting. What a wonderful pastime or penance depending on the situation. Who likes to wait? I have been waiting. It seems like forever but in reality only a week and half. There was urgency in my request, only to be pushed aside and forgotten for more important things/people/issues.

So, how does integrity and uprightness preserve me while I wait? Keeping guard at my post, doing my job while hanging in the balance; I believe that is what this verse is claiming. Even though my life is on the verge of turning upside down, I wait patiently.

    Still waiting…

  21. O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me. (Psalm 25:2 AMP)

The deeper my relationship with you, the more I can truly say I can TRUST, I can RELY, I am CONFIDENT in you GOD, in your WORD! LORD YOU’VE never disappointed me. Faithful and True, my BEST FRIEND!!!

  22. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

  23. 9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

meek – humble, lowly, poor, afflicted, humility, used of those who put themselves after others in importance. Not proud, or haughty.

God gives grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5

We must use the proper approach, and possess the correct attitude to receive what we need to from the Lord. He is open to us when we are meek, and lowly. However he resists the proud.

This means humble in all walks of life.

Humble when we feel others are wrong.
Humble when authority makes decisions we disagree with.
    Humble when we receive blessings.
    Humble when we face trials.

Humility is key to possessing spiritual blessings!

  24. Psalm 25:4-5 Show me Your ways, O Lord;Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me,For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

    Acknowledge

Recognizing that one does not know it all is one if the most humbling and blessed attitudes to have. No degree, or wisdom from man can compare to the knowledge of the Lord. A teachable attitude and spirit will get you a long way. Especially in the kingdom. It is those who humble themselves and become a servant of all whom God exalts. Pride it’s the one that says I got it all figured out. I don’t need anything or anyone. None to lead me because I know where I’m going. The truth is that without God we are completely lost and deceived headed towards what could be destruction. Recognizing God shows our dependence on Him. He is the one that will lead us to green pasture, to blessing, to having life more abundant, triumphant, blessed.
Men can cast their lots but it is still The Lord who is in control.

Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap,But its every decision is from the Lord.

Proverbs 3:6-8 In all your ways acknowledge Him,And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes;Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh,And strength to your bones.

  25. “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me”. He was open with his heart and petition to God (Jesus). One that is willing to open, all oneself, unto the Lord (Jesus) will discover as David did; “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant”. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  26. 4 Show me the right path, O lord; point out the road for me to follow.
8 The lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. (Psalms 25:4, 8 NLT)

Jesus is a grate friend he keeps me in the right path , and God send other amazing friends to help me .

  27. NLT 4 Show me the right path, O Lord;
point out the road for me to follow.

Lord, always light my path so I can always see your ways!

  28. Lead us in Jesus, for he is the truth, the way, and the light, and he is our only Teacher. We have only One Teacher & “One Father”. If you have seen me, you have seen the Father, for me and my Father are one. There’s only One who saves, and his love & mercy endureth forever.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

    “Be Still, Jesus Saves”…………………………………………………………………………..

  29. Make me understand your ways, O Lord ! Teach me your paths! -Psalms 25:4

Although God will lead us onto paths that we don’t understand, He knows. We might not know at the beginning of the path, yet once we finish it’ll all make sense. Trust and have faith in God.

  30. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee. -Psalms 25:20
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee. -Psalms 25:21

Our trust is in you Lord; you know the integrity of oue hearts. You know things we have committed unto you. We seek not our own path but wait on you.

Integrity- adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.

Honesty – is vital in the expression of intergrity. Honesty is lived out in our dealings with one another through actions and through verbal communication. It is not veiled through impressions and opinions.

  31. God’s Name

In Hebrew society, names carried rich meaning. In naming a person, place or thing, much thought was put into how encapsulate attributes and characteristics in one label, a name. Thus, the Jews of David’s day ascribed great importance to the “name” of God; they knew His name is a manifestation of His character, and He will do whatever He decrees in order to maintain the reputation associated with His name. When David appeals for forgiveness, he isn’t confident of it only because he knows God loves him. Rather, he knows that God has repeatedly promised to be faithful to His people, no matter how wayward they are at times, and that God’s character is such that He cannot break a promise. God’s reputation is at stake in the way He deals with Hiis people. In Isaiah 48:9 God assures us that he will not cut us off in spite of our sin- not because we deserve His mercy, but for His own sake, that all creation will trust in His name and praise Him for who, and what He is.

  32. The cry of my heart.

4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. 5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6 KJV)

God’s ways are righteous. Oh how I seek after righteousness. Sometimes I fail, forgive me, but oh how I seek.

  33. Redemption

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

    Redeem, v. def:

    1) Compensate for the faults or bad aspects of (something); do something that compensates for poor past performance or behavior; to atone or make amends for (error or evil); save (someone) from sin, error;

    2) gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment; pay or fulfill (a pledge, promise, or debt); exchange (like as a coupon or voucher) for merchandise, a discount, or money.

When God redeems something, He makes right for wrong. We know troubles will come but here we have a promise about God taking trouble and using it for good. Trouble has a way of sucking us in where even if we wanted to just walk away, the situation(s) so entangle us that we seem trapped until there is some resolution, or we throw away our integrity to just run away and avoid the problem instead of dealing with it. But the Psalmist here is adament against that route, making clear their intent in v 21: “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.”

“God, this situation has me tangled up, messed up, and I don’t know what to do, but I’m not going to run away from it but trust You to work it out.”

I think of Joseph who ended up in slavery and prison through no fault of his own. Had he started struggling and trying to fix it his own way, he and his family (and even the people of the land) would have missed the miracle of him receiving divine revelation and subsequently being elevated to prime minister of Egypt and bringing them to a place of blessing and provision (Goshen, anyone?) while a famine ravaged the land. Joseph himself even declares that God redeemed the situation:

    Genesis 50:19-20
19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

The thing about God is that He doesn’t seem to deal with “neutral.” He even said to us that He would rather us be hot or cold but lukewarm sickened Him. When God redeems a situation, He doesn’t seem to just “restore to the original state” but brings additional blessing and purpose. Joseph didn’t just get his family back but he became prime minister of Egypt and his family got to live in Goshen despite a famine, Job received double and was honored again, Naomi and Ruth got planted into the lineage of David (ultimately that of Christ), and the list goes on.

The promise of redemption is not just that of “undoing” a bad thing but bringing about good when it seemed the situation was for evil. We’re more familiar with the NT version of this promise:

    Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The devil would like to convince us that there is no hope for us or our situations and that walking uprightly is just a waste and doing this “God thing” was just a bait and switch. But Jesus is the righteous judge, the one who rules and reigns and can declare redemption. Things may not always look good right away, but we have a promise we can stand on from the One who cannot lie.

    Psalm 121:1-8
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

  34. Shew me thy ways 1. Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. Ps. 86 : 4 2.. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Ps. 13 : 4 3. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. 4. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Exod. 33 : 13 5. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

  35. 1 Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

God guide me always, let my ears be sensitive to your voice always, show me what you want me to see. Let me have understanding in what your wanting me to do and understanding in what you show and tell me. God thank you for all you have done and continue to work on me.

  36. 7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
